Amazing finds! Also, you're the first magnet fishermen I've even seen that actually know exactly what everything is that you find without making wild guesses.

Someone ought to create a standard form to be filled out whenever you find a weapon or reportable find. So you could complete it and have it ready when the police arrive. Might save time.

I mean it's a good thing they have it in film. Could you imagine being caught with a murder weapon by taking it home lol and not having proof of video or documentation of the find!!

There are MANY very real looking replicas made from ceramic and plastic with minimal metal parts like rivets so they still stick to the magnet but aren't actually usable. So if it's a replica it's a different procedure for the police to handle it.

Those cops that are saying no more please are realy bad at their job. Props to the female cop in first one very professional. Same with the initial responder in the 2nd one, almost restored some faith in the police for a sec.

I was making reference to the fact it appears that the canal has weapons in it. If police dredged it and policed it, instead of policing opinions or emotions, maybe the streets would be a bit safer.
That day was unbelievable and so many interesting finds and guns to top it off
I would recommend you try to attached the following, next time you do this:-
1. Attached a hook for non magnetise items.
2. Attached a waterproof cam so we can take a look inside the river.

Wow another day of really good fishing. There never seems to be a shortage of canals or cool stuff in them. Good to see Gareth out with you. The UK seems to feel a home safe is a good idea, but you guys prove them wrong. Can't wait to see Dan out again he needs to be a part of the team again (with his new wand of course). When you find them in a sock or something wrapped up you should leave in it just in case it's been used in a robbery or murder
I doubt it matters. There won't be any prints or DNA left.

@@slydoll7877 The other sock is out there somewhere, probably in the home of the person who disposed of the gun. If they have a suspect and search their house, it would be good evidence to find the matching sock.
NRCSLC so you need to get rid of a gun, you think to hide it in a sock and throw it in the canal. You grab a pair of socks out of a drawer, you put the gun in one and toss the other back in the drawer. Police come knocking, find the matching sock. Maybe too farfetched for you?
NRCSLC I guess you don’t know police gather evidence and put a case together. Find the other sock in someones drawer. They are linked to the gun disposal/ possession of the weapon.
Seems to me most of the finds are crime related from weapons to burglery and vandalism.
To mee to @Michelle Leiper Hand Guns some wraped in stuff a sawed of shotgun and a sawed of shotgun barrel.... someone dose not normaly do that or throw them away for no reason.

Rivers and canals have always been a good spot to hide evidence like guns and knives, the police will never ever go searching for them.
They absolutely would if they know about it lol. It's a good spot because (usually) nobody will find it by accident but if they get tipped off about someone dumping a murder weapon in a canal they'll do a search for it.

Hey! Some amazing finds there, looks a proper criminal dumping ground, with the guns & all those phones! The parking meters + roadworks lamps look like they'd clean up well, there's and number of people who collect & restore those.

Just call the police and tell them when and where you going to fish so they could send an officer with you
Masive waste of police time at a min 80% of the time no need for them it's no like they find a gun every time they go fishing. Otherwise the cops or a governing body would be doing it on the regular. I'm surprised however that a guide to how such finds should be stored for preservation of DNA etc..is non existing.

Get bucket,drill holes in bottom.put widowed screen in bottom, put find in bottom,dunk it up and down, rinse it off and the find will be much nicer to put in car.

I get the crime disposal part of this (mobiles, parking meters, guns) but still amazed how folk could lob a radiator over a bridge into the canal. Lucky they don’t kill someone!
