It's great to see a brick and mortar shop spring up. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your videos, Tim. Maybe I'll run into you at a show sometime. I'm in PA.
Thanks for sharing! It's always a great idea to shop and support your local businesses. I've been going to the same hobby shop in Northridge, California since 1976.
We can't thank you enough for showcasing our store! Absolutely amazing video! I've checked out some of your other content and I must say I'm very impressed! Thank you for supporting us!
Congrats on getting the store going! I heard about it during my last visit to Performance Hobbies "North". Best wishes for great sales! Nice inventory you got there!
Once again Tim, thank you for your relentless efforts in to keeping the hobby alive! My model building is temporarily on hold until I complete some home projects. You have again inspired me to go and make a purchase at my local hobby shop! If I had a YT channel it would be named "Too Much Kits, Not Enough Time". Thanks again, As always, keep the glue bottle upright!
Thank you so very much for the kind words Darren. I'm right there with you, as my summer months have always been "outside" house work instead of sitting inside at the model bench. So I know exactly what you are saying when it comes to the home projects and too many kits vs not enough time!!!!! Have a great weekend and hope to hear from you again soon my friend.
I love that Bobby Allison " Miller High Life " Buick @ 26:04. That looks like a cool destination to go on a Saturday road trip. Lots of cool kits. Thanks for sharing.👍👍
Nice shop, thanks for sharing Tim..........I seen some of the vendors bringing stuff in today for the show tomorrow.........gonna be a good show with good deals......
This is funny. I live in Batavia, where the warbird museum is, and I just learned of this place and I’m SO excited to check it out. Our Hobby Town is just ok and the customer service there is terrible! So I’m very glad to have another shop in the tristate that actually WANTS me to spend my money there. I’m going tomorrow morning so I’m glad you made this video!
I’m fortunate to still have a HobbyTown USA here in Mobile. I used to be into R/C airplanes, big time. But I was more of a kit builder. All the foam and electric power turned me off. I hope they’re able to draw enough business to survive. Peace and love.
Yes, good to still have the HobbyTown USA close by TJ. Love being able to go into a store and shop around. I agree, hope this new shop can stay open..... Peace and love my friend.
I live in the Rochester NY region, home of the original Performance Hobbies. It's a great store, well-run and well-stocked, with 20% off for kits. I'm sure Performance Hobbies South will be the same -- your hobby shop of choice. Congrats.
Back in the day in my hometown, we had a huge hobby store... the model section was just as big or bigger than the whole store you are in. Every Saturday, I would ride my Schwinn orange Krate (19:05 pictured there, came out late 60s... 68' I think ) then in the early 70s my gray ghost ( another very rare bike* )or my Raleigh 10spd Chopper ( yes, a 10spd stingray style bike a rare in the states ) to the shop. The shop " 606 " was about a mile and half from my house... I spent many hours at that amazing place. * The bicycle shop in my hometome was giant and the owner was a friend friend of the family so every time we went in there bike shopping he said he'd get me the best bike..... and he wasn't kidding one was rare The Raleigh 10spd Chopper and the other extremely rare The Grey Ghost. To bad I only kept the a handful of years when I got my road bike..... Schwinn Varsity ten spd road bike Thank you for the video and memories... its crazy there was a model of one of my first bikes ✌️😎
Nice video. Amazes me how manufacturers plan on production, not to mention distribution. This is a golden age of kit building.... yet I never see teenagers looking at kits? Please support your local hobby shop. These guys went out on a limb and of course RC rules the roost. An active RC community is a must for any hobby shop to survive. I so miss my local shop which was anchored by an 8 lane twentyfourth scale high bank slot car track.
Awesome Tim!! Ryan is an awesome guy, his dad Tom owns Performance Hobbies here in Webster, Ny. I was just there today getting some things lol Tom said you did a video there so I definitely had to come and check your video out, thanks for doing the video for Ryan!
@@Mannysscalemodeling They were really excited that I came to make a video to promote the store. I told them that I love this hobby and want them to succeed!!! 🤜🤛😉 Love when a hobby shop opens, we need more of them.
@@THROTTLEPOWER Thats awesome Tim, was nice of ya to do that and I agree love this hobby! We do need more of them. There are 2 near me including Performance Hobbies in Webster.
@@THROTTLEPOWERI like Brian. He always treats me right. If he doesn't have it he will get it for you. I used to like upscale hobbies but he's turned into more of a Gundam store now. He doesn't keep nice models or supplies like he used too. He's also 27 miles and two tolls from my house lol I haven't bought from him in 2 years. I have a few reasons I will no longer shop there but I won't go into it. What is the hobby shop way out in the east end? I only went to it once.
Nice new shop, with many things not seen everywhere. Have to agree we need more hobby stores, I'm traveling too far but I refuse to buy on eBay or Amazon. I won't be enticed by the 20% off on plastic model kits however. I just bought a Buick Riviera for $28.99 and ''55 Chevy Nomad for $29.99, and a Pontiac Catalina for $29.99 in the past month, at the hobby shop I frequent. I'm seeing $32.99/$32.99/$34.99 respectively for those same kits in this new store. I'm waiting on a Kenworth cabover I ordered that is going to cost $47, not the $73.99 I saw on the KW kit in the KY store. Even if I lived closer there, the 20% off is not moving the needle for me, sorry. Plus, Hobby Lobby and Oillie's carry some of those kits. Pricing must be more competitive, just saying.
@@THROTTLEPOWER btw, have you heard about the snafu on the Moebius A990? You mentioned that kit in this video and you seemed surprised there were no A990's on the new store's shelf. My hobby shop tells me, and I've had it confirmed by modelers elsewhere, that there was a bar coding issue on packaging coming out of China, so there is a nationwide surplus of the blue box sedan, and a shortage of red box A990's in the US. No word on how quickly that will be fixed. You were lucky when you got one early! 😉
34.95 now days for the kit not including paint glue. I’m here in Western Pa and hit the model isles all the time and certainly pass every time I remember models back when I was a kid “80s” kits were only 6.95 lol.

And unfortunately that’s why hobby shops go under the prices you pay the high price and then the markups for the rent of the building and utilities and so the owners can make money for more product and make a living.
