Great series with great content. I'd love to have a 1942 HD WLA. I was actually going to convert a Micargi bicycle into a bicycle version with a Harbor Freight 212 Predator motor like others are doing but learned that bicycle frames are too thin to be considered safe with a 212cc motor on it. So I got into learning about frame building and of course started researching the old 1940s Harleys. and came across some websites teaching how to make the frame jigs and frames which eventually brought me to this channel. What a treasure trove of information on the mechanics of the bike that I didnt find anywhere else. Thanks for making these. I think I even heard this Brit say "Aluminum" instead of "Aluminium". o_O
Really appreciate the video. Finished rebuilding by tranny today and your video was a big help. If I have to take that damn thin apart again I will need to buy some stock in Tito’s Vodka!
Wish I had you around to figure out why my MG TD gearbox keeps popping out of first. It actually kinda climbs out of gear. I have to hold it in first, all the other gears hold fine :( I have a 42 WLA btw, mine was one of the legendary Harleys in a crate, so it has very low miles. I paid a bundle for it, but cheaper than having to rebuild and re-machining everything the way I saw it. Love the channel, Howdy from Texas
Annnnnd that's why they sent rail cars full of crates of engines n gearboxes to the war so the lads would unbolt the old one.....carefully place it in a deep ditch and install the new one and move on to kicking Jerries arse. Q&A. what all has Ash and your self injured or mamed? (i recently caught my left pointer finger in a cordless saw, it's easier to put back in a dislocated finger than you'd think) hope ya'll had a good Xmas and a happy Hogmany.
Yeah, definitely no field repairs on gearboxes, that's for sure! Will get back to you on injuries... have a feeling you're opening a whole can of worms with that one!
#askash, I am repairing exactly the same tranny, but the shifter shaft seems to be welded to the case, and because I don't want to damage anything, I am just curious to know if you know that issue. Thanks ;-)
im 24 secs into this vid..... and had to look back down at the title of it to see if said "compilation"........ it doesn't..... no wonder he smokes....
I am hooked on these videos! Such a wealth of information. Really appreciate the uploads 👍
Glad you like them! 👍
