His name was Christopher Figueroa ❤️ thank you 🙏 eres tremendo 👑
Christopher Figueroa, May you rest in peace brother. This one is for you.
@@ElEsteparioSiberiano you’re so beautiful, thank you 😭 he gave me the greatest gift, my son Layne, who turns 9 yrs old this Friday. Chris and I love rock n roll, so we decided to name him after our favorite vocalist of all time, the late Layne Staley ❤️ he would’ve loved your covers, for sure.
Thank you so much for your words. If I ever meet your son I'll give him 10 pairs of sticks just in case he ever wants to start playing!
@@ElEsteparioSiberiano that would be sick, friend. Cuidate - much love from Jersey.
Alguien que me explique y traduzca lo dice acá no hablo gringo
Obviously your chops are beyond incredible and watching you smash slipknot etc one-handed is unbelievable, but it's an absolute pleasure to see you kicking back and grooving to some classic rock. Tasteful and masterfully controlled. I'd love to see you cover more of these "easier" songs.
Update: Just so folks know, I've been drumming for 27 years, so my mention of this as an "easier" song is not intended to disparage it in any way, just highlight that it's not as technically profound as some of the other tracks performed on this channel (which I think is a good thing).
This! Chops are funny, but musicality wins hands down, and this song is serious stuff, not just timekeeping.
More of those man, more!
this isn't an easy song. There's lot's of shreddy, busier stuff that's not really half as involved as this tune
Not so easy... at least it's not a song for beginners, mainly because it's not only playing notes, there are some subtleties and its groove has some kind of... flavoring
Dire straits drummer on speed jajajaj
@Adolfo Castro so rushed and overplayed.
They did the fade out on Sultans of Swing because it was a long song and radio stations don't like long tunes. The live or Album version is the full length as it should be. I saw them play this live and my God they rocked.
radio stations are the ancestors of social media lol...we're in the middle of the era of the short forgettable stuff..
@@catsven1973 artists always find ways to make limits into possibilities. Art finds a way.
I don't buy this "radio stations don't like long tunes" argument - I mean to some extent, but I don't think Pink Floyd's "Confortably Numb" or "Pigs" were ever made for radios. Or Pantera's "5 Minutes Alone"... This was some bs fad that to this day gives me BDSM-level of edging when I listen to some of my favourite songs. And maybe the "edging" was for the artists to lure people to live concerts to hear the whole songs - sell more tickets...? Who knows. F- annoying tho!
@@woocashkyI can tell you that Led Zeppelin was only found on obscure FM stations in the early ‘70s when AM was king and LZ was in their prime because their songs were too long for the AM format.
The fact that you didn't overplay over the guitar licks and solos ever makes me like you even more.
That’s the beautiful thing about dire straits. They synchronized better that most bands. And papa recognizes it by playing and doing without too much flare.
Where's the original laid back groove gone ? I don't know...
Drum machine ability but the danger is to becoming obtrusive to the music. One may overtake the singer with overly long drum fills at key points in the song. As a drummer, outstanding but as a group member, fulfilling a role of support is challenging for this man. Song is very nuanced and vocal transitions are gentle and cannot be obliterated by drums. My point? Less is sometimes more.
@@ThomasWelraedsyeah he plays dead on time, I feel like the OG was slightly more in a pocket but dude clearly killed it.
@@BarrackObamna yeah, OG has some swing in it. On the late side.
This is one of my favorite covers you’ve ever done
Bro, honestly......... your groove is beyound unreal. U are by far one of the best drummers i was honored to witness playing ! YOU ROCK !
It's strange actually. You play all your instruments like they are an extension of your soul, it's quite astounding, because, being a musician myself, it's extremely rare to see this.
Mabe once, or twice in 40 years have I seen this in a musician.
It sends shivers down my spine watching you.
Back to The Sultans, one of my favourite songs to sing, the only thing I could say about your technique is that you play the rhythm too exact, (if that's possible) I mean if a metronome was clicking away, you probably played every beat one thousand off the true click.
Unbelievable!
If you're ever in Athens Greece, look me up if you need anything. ❤
This was my dad's favorite song. He went home 6 yrs ago in October. He would have been impressed by you sir!! OUTSTANDING

That's one song I sure wasn't expecting from this guy! :) Love the musical diversity.
Exactly!
I like that he shows he can lay out a strong backseat when necessary. He's not just about "all chops, all the time." Dude is a well-rounded musician.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I never expected you to cover it. You KILLED IT, hermano! You showed restraint and control for this song- it's clear you respect the hell out of it. But don't think we didn't notice the occasional tasty Siberiano fills.
Wow. Been watching you crush insanely complex metal and prog stuff for an hour now. But the musicality you bring to this entirely different genre is just as amazing! So good!
As a child I’d listened to that song maybe 10000 times… it’s really a joy to watch you playing it so perfectly and easily as it was your song. Thank you so much for taking me back to my childhood and put a smile on my face….❤ love you playing some more classics. Maybe some police or Roxy music or what ever you feels like.
I liked how you locked in on the fast notes of the guitar solo with the ride.
Ha dejado de ser el Estepario Siberiano, ahora es el Estepario Tropical 🤣
AJAAJAJA
Selvático tropical?????
Bro, I don’t play the drums.. but I’m pretty sure “they” could set the atomic clock to your rhythm. Incredible, thank you, I look forward to more!!
Your control is tasteful and respectful. Furthermore, as many have commented, NOT always being flamboyant and over the top is a sign of being even BETTER! Wonderful cover, my friend.
This is my all time favorite song, hands down. Thank you for adding to the legacy of this song. Keep doing you my man and killing it with your love and dedication to the craft.
Total control, unbelievable speed, perfect timing. This guy is a drumming MACHINE!!
Excellent timing, but not perfect. Google Jonathan Moffett

Your explanation about fadeouts got me rolling on the floor, you are funny. And you make me appreciate music even more. You are an artist!
Everything about this is gold. The groove, the stoned rant at the end, everything. I'm a guitar player and I find your videos more entertaining, moving and fascinating than any guitar videos lately. Keep it moving.
4:11 has always been my favourite drum part - brilliant cover 🙂
It's so good because it's a plain paradiddle, but totally unexpected
But what an uber-cool fill...
Yes. Only Pick could do that with the real feel. Here it's sounding too rigid, velocity wise and sort of absolutely quantized. Frankly not sounding as sweet as Pick Withers had played it.
Haha, love the commentary at the end dude. On point. And as far as “nobody watching it because no chops...” Those people can piss off. Every cover you do not only includes chops, they offer a unique takes on a huge library of different music. Great job 🤘
If anyone thinks this is “no” chops, they need to take some actual drums lessons.
@@drums4lyfe0987; Or just stop pretending they know what chops are...
Chops can go pohuj if it is not for the greater good
no chops? buddys making 4 different tones with his god damn floor tom....
Agreed. It's the time he keeps that gets me. On point.
"no chops" . I admit, when I clicked, I was like what is El Estepario gonna do with this track? And the answer was, exactly what was needed. I got goosebumps half in, chops or not :)
I think that is one song where fade out works very well. It's upbeat and You want the guitar to go on and on and never end, so it gradually lets you down out of the song, One of my favorites , for about 10 years that was my ringtone, then about 10 years on CCD classics; they all have a distinctive entry that works so well on ring tone.
As a long time bongo player it’s all I can do to control my two hands and this guy has both hands and both feet all working in different directions at a fantastic rhythm never losing a beat - absolutely incredible and my hat is off👏👏👏
E.E.S could you have a go at Focus " Hocus Pocus" please? Or does anyone know if he uploaded already something along the tune? Many thanks, you rock mate!!!!🥁🎼🎧🎶

@@bgmac1219 ha ha. I'm sure Siberiano will do a smashing act, at least the whistling part. He's so musical, creative, imaginative. He doesn't believe in talent, so let's say UBER competently determined.

One of the world's best drummers. Definitiv. Music in the blood and tactic in the hands. Unbelievable and fascinating.
Best drummer I've seen in my life, hands down! Big props to you my friend
I never thought I would say this for a drummer, but you are just too accurate.
Awesome talent but sounds like a drum machine
I've always loved this song because of Knopfler's playing. Your drumming has added a whole new dimension to this classic. Thank you sir!
The original drumming is top notch, I don't think it repeats the same fill twice, and there are many! Also, please to yourself a favor and watch the Alchemy live version. The drums there are insane.
This song is filled with chops. I think it's harder for drummers to stay in the pocket sometimes than it is for them to create amazing fills. This video shows you doing both, and loving every minute of it until the fadeout. :)
Great points
Agreed, this is great 👍
Right on!
The Tchaikovsky fade out bit was the only time I laughed out loud all day. 😂
hard to play a fade out live.
Thats how every drummer plays that song in his mind when we hear it on radio!
Great work man! 😎👍
Not only are you one of the best motherfkng drummers out there, you're funnier than all the comedians on stage today
I've loved this song from the day I heard it in high school. This just takes it to another level. Friggin great!
I really appreciate these occasional super laid back covers you do. Thank you.
Unfortunately the laid back groove's gone here.
Sir, without a doubt, your are one of the most amazing drummers I have ever heard.
El primer cover en batería que saque cuando tenía 10 años. Gracias x hacerla recordar. Eres un gran referente para muchos músicos. Q sigan los éxitos, saludos de la lejana Lima
Pick Withers tight playing on this track is sooooo important for the whole DNA on "Sultans of swing". Especially the high hat lifts gives it the right groove and swing. Many drummers forget this very important part.
That and the certain human swing which is lacking here. This guy is sounding too rigid and quantized to the T(d). Let alone the overplayed flams and triplets, or rather sextuplets here.
@@AdMBandLeader amazing technician. But... yes completely overplayed. A cymbal crash on every one count? or every second measure on the one count is overplaying. As to quantization that is the real message. No click tracks were used in the making of the classic rock songs! As soon as the click track enters the recording studio is when the decline of pop music began. I would love to see this man(a true giant among drummers) leave off the rolls, turn off the backing track, and play to his own innate rhythm. Play only a beat... the basic feel of the song... that is where it's at. The rolls are the reward... for getting the feel and rhythm pattern in to the hypnotic place where it belongs. It is impossible to do hypnosis with a roll every 4 or 8 counts. But what do I know:)
Love the fill after “Time Bell Rings.” Watched just for that. Glad I did.
I liked El Estaparo's however Pick Withers does like a triple double on his 2 rides an just perfect .. a bigger kit but LOVE LOVE PICK'S on this classic in key of F or Dm
Bro, sometimes just sitting in the pocket and having a relaxing groove is what the soul needs lol. That's was slick
The echo on the snare.. EPIC
Funny enough I was thinking right from the start the ott snare echo spoiled it!
@@jvn4202 same! It's way too jarring and distracting. This song is tight not loose.
*reverb
And it really ruins it
The Sultans of Swing by the great master Mark Knopfler.
Fantastic percussion, and everything exactly in time. beautiful to look at and listen to.
Pick Withers delivered an exceptional performance on the record. I respected it from the first hearing when it was released. I grew up with guys like Jimmy White and Ben Baily who were #1 in State of GA in that day, then went on to study in University and be around Sonny Emery.
As a bassist I was spoiled ROTTEN.
Walking down the hall on the 3rd floor you would walk past the percussion practice rooms at 10 Peachtree Center Ave. S.E. and hear drummer practice, and have to stop and gawk at Sonny in his room and the sound leaking through the seam of the jamb.
Stunning.
I also got to work with a guy who inadvertently turned down playing for Stevie Nicks. He did not recognize her. That guy was immovable, even when he looked dead from the opioids his Dr. tried to kill him with. Just perfect and stone solid.
That was the Sultan's Perc Part. Just as stunner.
Are you joking man? That's one of my favorite songs and one of the first I used to play when I learned how to play drums. I'll never forget my shin burning trying to play it as a noob. Masterpiece!
Hello Senior Siberiano, thank you for this video, this also one of my favorites and it looks so simple when you play it (and it gives me hope I'll be able some day !)
ok I know, it's not a question of talent but only honest hard work... but then again... ;-)
And I find it especially respectful of you not to "siberianize" it by adding your trademark spectalcuar chops, reminding us that drumming is not only that but more deeply a question of grooving.
Thank you for your work, so versatile, and so humble even when you show off your exceptional skill. It is truly inspiring (I even told about you to my students - and I teach maths, not drums !)
Your poise is genuine and the most impressive take away as it conveys >>>10,000 hours of practice. Noticing the precision of notes and you being at ease tells one that you are looking at a master of the craft.
There are just some things that are beautiful to watch. This is one of those things.
Hands down... This dude is by far my most favorite drummer out there.
Pure talent and passion in all his work. 💪🏻🤟🏻
I love the uniqueness of this musical era!!!! Your drumming is a joy to watch!!!💯💯💯🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jorge, I’m glad you exist and here’s my small bump to your algorithms! I’ll copy to a bunch of your videos! My reasons?
1. I’m not a drummer and haven’t listened to much music for years (I’m into books right now). I’ve never enjoyed watching drummers do their thing outside of a song. Despite that, you have grabbed my attention and I’ve dipped into music styles I don’t even enjoy and discovered artists that are great! Your mesmerizing drumming and the pure entertainment raised them to something worth watching again and again! Wow! I’ve listened to more music in the past couple months than in the last decade! Thank you!
2. You are funny, authentic, intelligent, incredibly disciplined and skilled. (You are also some real eye candy, but that wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t for your inner qualities!) What impresses me is that you want to pass on your life lessons, knowledge and skills to others and inspire them on their own journey. That’s big! Huge!!! We need more people in the world like that!
3. As a side note, in your Million Views video you mentioned that something in your character drives you to do correctly whatever you’re doing. That can be a blessing or a curse, but when I listened to your Mike Portnoy video and your story about your girl related reasons for learning his song, I just started laughing. Your drive to do things ‘correctly’ could be a blessing for your partners!
4. Thank you for enriching my life and I wish you fulfillment, success and happiness as you ‘lay pipe’ in your own life’s journey! Life is short, go for it! Nancy from the States!
Fadeouts were created for Radio play. Often times songs are longer than their Radio versions. Radio play demands a specific length of music and rather than ask artists to rerecord music a faceout makes it all that much simpler to get it done.
Lo que comentas del fade out es porque antes las canciones estaban pensadas para poner en la radio, y con el fade out ayudaban al dj o técnico de sonido con el cambio de una a otra, y poner ahi el típico comentario o falca radiofónica.
That was tight. Well done. This song is just too cool. How can you not have fun playing any instrument in this song.
I LOVE this song. We used to play it in the very first band I was in (almost 30 years ago now… wow). In fact, the guitarist I used to play it with just passed away last year. This was a wonderful memory. Thank you for sharing. Well done.
I certainly enjoyed your playing this tune! it would be great to hear some of the other classic rock and jazz tunes from back in the day!! Love to watch you, but I really enjoy watching these older songs!! Thanks for the great video!!
God this drum kit sounds just killer !
I don’t think you can record a kit better!
Wow! Just wow
Now I think you are one of the best drummers ever. You kept it tasty through the whole video and let him play his solos without shredding over it. You have plenty of videos showing your chops. This was very important for me to see. Well done sir and the comment on fading literally made me spit my morning coffee against the wall. Thank you. I would love to see you live with a band some time. I will stay tuned. I’m have my passport you know.
Yep. Reminds me of Nuno Bettancourt on guitar--versatile and can shred with anyone, but also can sit back with restraint and be musical without going 11/10 non-stop.
Yes, I enjoyed! Really great to see you playing laid back too, keeping it as simple, as the track is! Love it! Thank you!

Fade-out gives you the feeling that the song never ends. It keeps going on and on.
unfortunately it gives me the feeling they had no idea how to finish it, and the sound guy just pulled down the mixer buttons 😂
Quite a few records fade out, nothing wrong or right about it.
@@vitapont7338 Are you aware most recorded songs have fade-out?
@@RideAcrossTheRiver No, I am not. Maybe from a certain era, e.g., from the 60s and 70s, but with the spread of more energetic genres becoming popular - such as disco, heavy metal, punk, death metal and so on - fading of songs went out of fashion. Energetic, fast-paced songs nowadays have definitive stops at the end, not a slow fade-away. There are of course still exceptions to this, but not many.

Amazingly on point. That’s what I love about your playing. You keep it very much as it’s played. Obviously you add a few frills. But it’s on top of what is correct. You are an amazing talent. His rant at the end about fade outs is absolutely hilarious! Besides that, I never picked up the drums were so technical in this song. Awesome to watch.
One of my favorite songs. I think the reason so many songs use fade out is because they simply don't know how to end a song.
