0:17 This is why you NEVER swerve to avoid an accident. The Ford swerved to avoid rear-ending the vehicle and caused TWO other vehicles to crash. NEVER swerve to avoid a collision. You are WAY more likely to CAUSE a collision than avoid one.
I have swerved to avoid a collision that would have been lethal, I was in town on a 45 moh 3 lane as im driving past this Nissan altima ran a red and tried to make a right across a 3 lane road, he did so leaving me but a few feet to do something, I didn’t have nearly enough space or time to come to a stop so I swerved the car to the left (I was aware that there was no one surrounding me, and narrowly avoided t boneing them and avoided an accident. There are definitely situations where it is acceptable a single lane back road? Definitely not
IF you mean swerving into oncoming traffic, absolutely. But there are plenty of times where diving off to the side is the right move. I was in an '87 F-150 hauling another vehicle, on a concrete section of interstate, in wet conditions and heavy traffic, when all of a sudden a traffic wave made everyone slam on their brakes for no apparent reason. There was no way I could stop in time, but fortunately I was in the outer lane, so I was able to quickly get over and come to a stop after about the third car I would've hit. My room mate one time was able to avoid an accident by flipping it on two wheels to the next lane, but he knew how to recover, fortunately, and didn't go careening across multiple lanes like the guy in the video.
This is an intensely dumb take. Not only are you not going to have time to think about your choices if you're about to slam into someone, you're also instinctively going to try to avoid contact. You're not thinking 3 steps ahead and planning out an escape route because if you were, *you wouldn't be in this predicament to begin with*.
@@surfguard I'm pretty sure that's not what the submitter meant, they just have no idea how sentences work. Here's my take on it: Guy who hit me originally claimed I ran the stop sign, then changed his story to "I was trying to slow down but my car wasn't braking."

He sped up actually I'm pretty sure because they didn't want the person to get in front of them. There are plenty of reasons to get into the left lane, like a turn coming up in a mile and just wanting to be in the lane.

Also, making damn near no effort to avoid the car as it approached. You moved the car not even half a foot to the right, and he clipped you. That entire accident could have been avoided honestly.
Yeah, that one is definitely on the cammer too...he had about as much room as a regular city street in Denmark and I would only very rarely see people knocking mirrors off. Just engage your brain and scooch over a bit Mr. Cammer.
@@davidpowell3469 exactly!! even tho the whole situation started because the other driver didn't yield it's still the cammers fault for not trying to avoid the situation. everyone always thinks just because they have the camera they are automatically right

Depending on the state. The car with the camera had nothing blocking his lane of travel so the other car needs to yield. It was up to the car that clipped him to pass the parked cars safely without hitting any cars at all. Yes it could have been avoided but the police report with help the other cars insurance pay for the damages.
I completely disagree. Technically he didn’t stop, but his lack of a complete stop did not cause the crash in anyway. If the other driver had stopped, or even slow down to the extent that the cammer did, the crash would have been avoided. If the cammer made a complete stop, the crash still would have resulted regardless. The only other argument I think you could make is that maybe the cammer could have been paying better attention to the other driver, but that still doesn’t make him at fault for the accident
Did you see the other stop sign? It's high up in the tree and there is no stop line painted on the road. I would be blaming the city not the poor schmuck that didn't see it.

Some of these cammers are a liability! They seem to be accelerating into people to cause a collision instead of letting off to let the traffic blend? I wonder if they used to do that before they fitted a dash cam?
1:54 I see this at least once per crash video. Car turning left on green, but as the light goes yellow he tries to hurry up, thinking the oncoming car is gonna stop because it’s yellow. But the oncoming car also speeds up trying to beat the light, and they hit each other. Most common crash on these videos.
This particular thing is known as "charging the yellow". Greatly depends on the traffic laws of the area, but very typically is a moving violation. Here in Michigan, for example, when the traffic control light turns yellow, facing traffic with the capacity to stop must do so. If it's unsafe to stop (you'll be encroached on the intersection, road conditions prevent safe breaking in time, car following too closely behind and not slowing, etc), you can proceed cautiously. Key word there, cautiously, and that truck had no caution whatsoever given a vehicle present for a left turn at a light where there wasn't a protected left signal and was already encroached on the intersection. The truck had fair amount of warning to the light change and might have been able to stop in time, depending on rate of speed. Not to mention that he definitely did not "beat the red", as the light changed prior to the impact. But yeah, these are such a common occurrence because people just gotta hurry and save that one minute of waiting for the light to cycle.
1:47 red car likely will be held most liable because if you slow it down, it shows the truck was in the intersection before the light turned red, and the red car made an unprotected left without yielding. Both rivers are stupid for trying to beat the light though.
1:00 To be fair, the other guy's stop sign was partially hidden by the tree and his path was straight through. Unlike the cammer, coming up to a tee with a stop sign of his own.

But either way, you must come to a complete stop and only proceed if safe to do so. That one is in Quebec since the sign has the French "arret" for stop.

The self-righteousness that people swerve & honk but never really hit the brakes & avoid is amazing. This compulsion plays out over and over to "be in the right" because of bloated ego instead of actually being a good driver. A lot of this "drama" could be avoided.
I live in Central Illinois, and I think I’ve seen that hit and run car from the St. Louis video driving around in my hometown. Not sure if the car I saw was a Diamanté like the one in the video, but it was the same color and had the same damage. 5:47

Cammer continues to drive in the left lane. Does someone need to put a bumper sticker on that Subaru? *CAUTION: I DRIVE LIKE YOU DO*
Did the other car slow down? Otherwise, how did the cammer wind up farther forward than when the other car started coming into their lane? Hitting the brakes instead of swerving left and accelerating would have provided a lot more safety space.
"Great awareness cam car" - one of the many reasons you shouldn't just rely blindly on technology. Glad you boyfriend was aware. So many drivers just expect their car - if a Tesla for example - or their Sat Nav to do everything right for them.
7:52 Honestly I'd defend that because there really isn't a way to back out until the person behind him backs up plus he would have broke the gate off if he backed up and hit the car as well The gates also didn't go down until he was right in the area he was supposed to stop so the lights were red while he was in the area he wasn't supposed to stop in. He also tried to back up. But got caught on the gate

5:36 - The SUV started it by not stopping in its original lane for the pedestrians. When one person doesn't do what they should, it opens the door to more people acting recklessly.
So true... It also forces other people into dumb situations. Once I was at a traffic light, rather narrow street, waiting for green light to turn left. On my left, smb parked illegally, in the very intersection, with his back slightly over the crosswalk. Then from my right came a bus, turning left. Thanks to the illegally parked moron, the bus couldn't make his turn without hitting me, so he stopped half way through his turn, thus blocking the entire intersection. I had to back up, but there were other cars behind me (it is a small intersection, narrow, inside the town). So I had to put in reverse, turn around inside my car and show with my hands to the driver behind me to back up as well. Then he had to do the same with the car behind... It took a while until we made enough room for the bus to pass and meanwhile, the light turned red again several times. We all had trouble, waited so long there... All because of one moron parking illegally. After that, every time I come to that intersection I first check if smb is parked in the same way (happens a lot) and if so, I stop a bit farther than marked on the road to avoid the situation I previously described
Rule #1 - if you have to ask "Am I the idiot", there's a 100% chance that, yes, you are an idiot. It truly feels like having a functioning brain is becoming less and less common these days.

2:01 5-8 over the limit Pffft I know what that looks like and you were going way faster than that.
2:16 Well obviously yes. He was in the process of changing lanes when you decided to punch it and try to go around him in the lane he was moving into.
A bit of self awareness from the others involved could have prevented most of these.
💯
How do you know what the speed limit was?
@@Goldfish_VenderLook at how the road is designed. 3 lanes on each side with traffic lights and businesses.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations I suppose it may depend on where you live, but where I live we have a main road just like this and the speed limit is 45-55.
At 1:08 he slowed down while the other driver didn’t even attempt to despite having a stop sign, but yes he didn’t completely stop either.
2:20 Yes, you are. The lane is blocked off, so you decide to accelerate hard and cut off the guy in front of you. Why?
Welcome to (insert any city name)
Not sure he's *trying* to cut him off, might have been an "OH SHIT I'M IN TROUBLE" and trying to avoid being rear-ended for being in a lane WAY OFF from where he should have been.
So you slow down to 5mph to merge on a highway? And don't give me shit about cones and a closed lane. Every time you merge on a highway the lane you are coming from ends so how do the cones make it any different?
@@John_Lee_ It's so frustrating seeing all the people in the comments talking about how there are cones and the lane is ending. The point of an entrance ramp is to get up to highway speed so you can merge. Everyone else was perfectly capable of merging correctly, but this one sedan couldn't. Clearly the fault of the sedan, not the people behind him *also* trying to make sure there's nobody coming that will hit them while merging.
@@andrewb378 exactly. Everyone in front of the problem car was long gone and he just sits there instead of merging and driving.
1:06 the other car blew the stop sign, but if you had actually stopped at yours and not rolled it they would have missed you
Took the words right out of my mouth my guy
And in the text it says that the cam driver's brakes weren't working properly. That's also something he needs to accept responsibility for.
@@surfguard I'm pretty sure that's not what the submitter meant, they just have no idea how sentences work. Here's my take on it: Guy who hit me originally claimed I ran the stop sign, then changed his story to "I was trying to slow down but my car wasn't braking."
@@boomboxkat That could be it, but the way I read it was that the other guy (left car driver) "changed his story to 'Oh, the cam car driver was trying to brake, but his brakes weren't working.'" But no matter what, that's a *very* badly made sentence - I can't tell what's meant.
beat me to the comment lol
5:10 - You really should have your brakes checked - they obviously don't work.
Exactly what i thought, why was your first reaction to maintain speed and honk rather than avoid the accident all together.
He sped up actually I'm pretty sure because they didn't want the person to get in front of them. There are plenty of reasons to get into the left lane, like a turn coming up in a mile and just wanting to be in the lane.
Cammer's brakes don't work, but also the merging car's turn signals don't work and clearly whoever is driving it doesn't have a brain that works.
3:06 I'm so sorry I just can't help but laugh at this because of how the music stops before the person in the car crashes 😂😂😂😂😂

If you’re at a red light near a railroad crossing, stay behind the line that is drawn into the pavement. It should be common sense, but people lack that nowadays.
At this point it's just a slight delay in someone's shipping, and natural selection or a financially crippling lesson for the idiot. I wouldn't worry about them ;)
Nowadays? Kid, people have been dumb for a long, long time. Don't be naive.
A couple months ago I saw a mother with a child in the back seat casually chilling on the tracks waiting for a green light... Train just passed but still wtf...
Worst part is she wasn't even distracted on the phone, just 0 F's given.
"Nowadays"? It was Sigmund Freud who said that common sense is a curse because if you have it, you have to live in a world in which so few other people do.

No
4:26 So, you saw this guy coming and you decide to keep driving knowing full well he is supposed to yield to the other cars on the street.
Cammer.
@@davidpowell3469 exactly!! even tho the whole situation started because the other driver didn't yield it's still the cammers fault for not trying to avoid the situation. everyone always thinks just because they have the camera they are automatically right
Was looking for this one lol. They are both idiots. This is an example of someone that should not have a license. The "I'm in the right so I'll just crash" type.
Yeah, he saw him coming from a mile away but Ill just keep my lane and get hit. Might not want to show the insurance company that dashcam footage, makes you look very stupid.
Depending on the state. The car with the camera had nothing blocking his lane of travel so the other car needs to yield. It was up to the car that clipped him to pass the parked cars safely without hitting any cars at all. Yes it could have been avoided but the police report with help the other cars insurance pay for the damages.
1:05
Dash camera owner did not make a complete stop at the stop sign.
Technically, they both ran the stop signs.
This is the correct answer
I was going to point it out, but this is fully correct and fault should be found in both drivers.
I would be blaming the city not the poor schmuck that didn't see it.
camera owner did not have a stop sign
2:39 Love how they’re listening to I am by Ive
Fellow dive!!!!! Great taste!!!
The cam car that asked "Am I the idiot": Answer is YES! The car in front of you was slowing and approaching a marked lane closure where he had to merge, but you decided to go around? It sounded like you did hit him. If you did and you took off, you're an a-hole. If not, you got lucky.
To be fair, there wasn't any reason to be going that far below the speed limit there, since there was no traffic to merge into.
2:17 Most emphatically _YES_ !
No this is wrong, the car breaks for no reason, why merge onto the highway breaking? The car in front merged just fine and is way ahead of the car that braked
@@jovo55 he braked because the lane in front of him was closed. You can see the cones. It was obvious that the lane was ending but the cam car decided to pass him anyway. Dumb.
@@gamerk316 Granted he was going too slow, but with the lane ending because of the cones, I think he was a bit confused. The cam car should not have tried to go past the car with the lane on the right ending.

I let people in no matter what, if I can. I like to avoid any potential situations that may lead to accidents on the road. It's better to waste less than 10 seconds than hours which includes waiting for the police, taking information down, calling your insurance, waiting on your insurance to respond, and then going to the body shop to fix your car.
i learned this the hard way tbh, but a signal/blinker doesn't mean u have the right of way (i 100% appreciate ur grandpa's sarcasm tho), u still need to be careful cuz sometimes ppl will speed pass u or doesn't let u change ur lanes, that person who change lanes are an idiot cuz in a traffic like that, u can't just suddenly change lanes especially when the car is already that close to u

Men who get out of their car to yell at someone because of something they themselves did wrong need to grow a pair.
Is there a driving test in Vancouver? Or do you just pay for your license?
1:47 red car likely will be held most liable because if you slow it down, it shows the truck was in the intersection before the light turned red, and the red car made an unprotected left without yielding. Both rivers are stupid for trying to beat the light though.
1:00 To be fair, the other guy's stop sign was partially hidden by the tree and his path was straight through. Unlike the cammer, coming up to a tee with a stop sign of his own.

But either way, you must come to a complete stop and only proceed if safe to do so.
That one is in Quebec since the sign has the French "arret" for stop.
So many of these, the cammer needs to pay attention around them. Most of these are as much the fault of the cammer as the other person.

7:52 Honestly I'd defend that because there really isn't a way to back out until the person behind him backs up plus he would have broke the gate off if he backed up and hit the car as well
The gates also didn't go down until he was right in the area he was supposed to stop so the lights were red while he was in the area he wasn't supposed to stop in.

Yeah and you don't whip it blindly into the other direction's lane that could have been a disastrous head on accident.

I’ll have to give props to the Cammer in the second clip, to drive down the embankment and across the grass instead of trying to get back onto the road. Too many videos you see of someone trying to swerve back onto the road and flipping across the grass
