My life was miserable for 4 years in perimenopause and then 2 years in post menopause. I was dismissed so many times by people around me, by family doctors and even by Obgyns. Pre menopause has made me age 20 yrs in 4 yrs. Everyday I wake up looking and feeling 5 yrs older. I'm 46 and I feel 80 yrs old. 1rst. I ran all type of blood test, even HIV I thought I had caught a very bad disease, cancer, something. My headaches disabled me, I m taking about having this neuralgia type of pain for 20 days. I lost 3 good teeth because the pain was horrible. The doctor sent me anti depressants. I had to discover by myself that I'm premenopaused.
When I was mid 40s I could barely find any info on the webs. Now, at 51 there's Dr Stacy Sims, Dr. Mary Claire, Dr. Lisa Monsconi and others. I too agree. You are the perfect person to have such a deep conversation. Women have been dismissed so frequently for centuries as being crazy or overly emotional. There is so much to us the has been kept in the dark. So happy that you did this for us and helped give a platform for amazing women like her! Thank you for helping us.
Divorce also happens in menopause because men start chasing after the babysitter. Misogyny is alive and well. Thanks Dr.Haver for being such a strong advocate for women!
I'm glad you brought up the Misogyny aspect. I had a hysterectomy and was slow to heal. My doctor was acting kinda weird that I wasn't healing as quickly as he hoped. I said "Well, my body is going to heal in its own time. Whether it takes 3 months or 10, what does it matter as long as I'm healing" and he was like stuttering and looking concerned "Well..Im concerned about..you know..your husband" and I looked at him confused and I said "My husband? Why are you concerned about my husband?" and the doctor was like "Well, you know..he's going to want to get back to having sex as soon as possible" I'm thinking "Wtf is wrong with you? I'm not a toy" hahaha.
I just saw sooOooOo much vile casual misogyny on a DryBar comedy short of a lady comedian, talking about how women should stop talking to their husbands to keep them. The amount of men and many women spouting such horrible things so brazenly, it made me feel not happy at all.
I'm already single/divorced in early perimenopause. I feel like just staying alone to avoid the inevitable when the man wants to trade me in for a younger/hotter "model" 😕.
Lewis...I "found" your channel recently, and I'm so grateful I did! You are such a person of intregrity! I really resoect how you treat your guests with kindness, respect, and an open mind! Thanks, and have a great day!! ❤❤
When I I went to my doctor with initial menopausal symptoms I was told this was psychosomatic. Literal this was all in my head. I was 42 and not even thinking that I was approaching menopause.
I am 53 and the last 2 and a half years I have been struggling at work with brain fog. This is what my problem is. I am on an antidepressant and want to quit my job because I feel like I am unable to keep up anymore. I need to call my GYN Monday and get help.
Couldn’t get estradiol (sp?). I am a young early 60’s. Started meno at 57. Still get from Dr.’s that hormone replacements cause cancer. Finally found an on-line female Dr. that believes in natural support lifelong and another female Dr. who offers help with diet and exercises beyond kegels. The old meno thoughts of most docs is still the old for the most part. Thank you for speaking up for women!!!
@kathrynm777 Get a new doctor that specializes in Menopause...you don't have to roll over and go through all the symptoms. The studies were conducted previously are wildly outdated. You can take hormones until your very old age.
My Mother and grandmother n Aunts had breast cancer....so my Drs took me off of once a month B12 and hormone shots.....I am 73 and have not felt good every since....?
Currently in Perimenopause at 48. I have a wonderful OBGYN who also delivered both of my kids and is a wonderful surgeon. I am an obsessive learner regarding health and this is my new topic! Many varying symptoms spurned me to begin taking Progesterone and testosterone. Judging by my remaining symptoms...id say my estrogen is low lows and high highs and ever changing (your ovaries alternate- remember that). Being a lifelong workout queen, it has been humbling. A work in progress 💪 now. Keep trying, never give up, and remember you are worth it and deserve to be healthy and strong! If a doctor tells you no, often it's because he or she is out of their depth.

I have been on estrogen and progesterone since 48 and when I turned 50 I began testosterone. I am 💯 more interested in sex and am initiating intimacy with my husband. We’re pretty happy and still in love.
100 % it’s hard to feel valued when we are going through all these changes , I’ll be 6o this year and I started at 48 Still dealing with a lot of things , but getting stronger everyday ❤️
“Stress reduction “ is a tough thing when most of your role becomes being a caregiver more than just being a wife😏. I have been caregiver for my husband through many surgeries, recoveries, rehabs . In the midst of all that, I also became caregiver for my 81 year old daddy who suffered w Alzheimers. His 7 year journey ended in March at 88 years old. Shortly after my , now 74 year old husband’s heart problems worsened and he needs me to be his taxi to take him to his many drs appointments etc etc. Life is stress!!! 10:35
Oh...em...gee!!! This is so affirming. I have been offered SSRIs, and scoured for information. I have been so attuned with my body and its function. Perimenopause has been like getting to know a WHOLE new person, a stranger. And getting to know that stranger on an island. Thank you so much for covering this topic. I am also gonna share with my younger crew. It would be great for them not to arrive at this point in their lives with no clue of what is happening to them. ❤😊
Because of Dr Mary, I figured I was definitely coming up to menopause. The joint pain in my thumbs, So bad in my shoulder I've had cortisone shots. My vision went from wearing cheaters to now progressives overnight. I started her vitamins and her fiber and her collagen following her diet now so just starting to lose the weight I just got hormone replacement therapy 2 months ago I'm looking forward to seeing how I feel Thank you so much Dr Mary.
Its sad that MD’s get only one hour of menopause training. As a doctor of natural health, we get hundreds of hours as well as protocols for a smooth and event free transition- basically everything she is teaching ❤ This is nothing new- only new to western medical doctors.
Thank you for speaking up! The world needs to hear this truth! Naturopath Doctors should be on a mission to educate people more than ever.. with the Truth!
I am 57 and had surgical menopause 10 years ago and was not convinced to take HRT and within 8 weeks it really affected my mental health and still have issues. So I was given antidepressants which helped some but I went from 226 lbs to 336 lbs. No matter what I ate or did, the weight keeps piling on. I worked at a very physically job and walking over 14 kms a day plus walking my dogs after work. I also was diagnosed with crohns, worsening osteoarthritis and I had to retire early and I gained even more weight from meds and can barely walk a km. My doctor says that there is no range to gauge my hormone levels. I miss how I use to be. I feel so old. My body aches everywhere like as if I had a fever and joint pain.
Found your channel and amazing to see you interviewing this champion, guiding light for menopause women. I started perimenopause earlier than usual in my late 30s. I have felt so so alone and this woman and a few others have helped me so so much. Well done for giving Dr Haver more of a platform because her voice needs to cut through the societal conditioning that makes women feel like this is meant to be endured and ignored. Loved this bit about boundaries. I am finding myself doing that because yeh, I have bone loss already and yeh, I need to head to the gym now.
Sure thing! When it comes to staying healthy, it's not just about physical health but also mental well-being. Taking care of your mind by practicing mindfulness, meditation, or doing activities you enjoy can make a big difference.
Some lady said she isnt caring anymore about what her career will be like, she is living in preset moment. her motto is were people happy to see me today, Did I amke them smile etc.
Thank you so much for this information. I'm 37 and even though I'm strong and exercise (heavy weightlifting/strength training) I have a little gut which formed this year. When usually I'd lose it quickly, now it's harder to. And this video made me realize I'm probably perimenopausal. I ordered a test to verify. PS: I'm dreading menopausal simply bc I haven't had children yet and I want to have.
I don’t have more menstrual period. I never ever had any symptom for pre or menopausal time. I feel good until now. I didn’t take any kind if hormones replacement , however I’m atleta, I have been doing excersise all my life, I never drink alcohol or used drugs, I take care my diet a lot , I go sleep early and wake up early to go running and I never ever feel that she is talking about. And I have my personal mentors because I take care of my self awareness, emotions, mind, spiritual pad. Getting out from dramas. Staying in peace. All we women can do that. ❤
That's wonderful and that's how it should be. The standard American diet and sedentary lifestyle contributes to menopausal symptoms. Thank you for sharing!
Good for you, but in some cases genes or other life events may play a big role on how women goes through menopause. Just remember that your way is not the only way, it's good to aknowledge other people's struggle without judging them that they're not doing well, or not doing enough.
My world was spinning out of control and I could not figure out what is going on, apart from not having my periods and getting hot flushes. I have been dismissed by male and female doctors with "You are just getting old and start exercising and you will feel better about life" every single time. This is amazing information that gives hope for future generations of women. I am afraid, by the time it trickles down to every doctor and insurance company, I would be gone as a woman and as a human being.
Thank you Lewis for doing this topic and bringing it to men and women in your audience. Its so important and she did such a good job of presenting everything. I learned new things too! Im 51, Ive been on bio identical hormones for about 5 yrs now with perimenopause, its helped me, I have more energy, hardly anymore migraines, lighter periods when they were always heavy (I had migraines every month) and progesterone took care of it! Always had a good libido and maintained. And the night sweats, Im going on 3 mos no period, hope im nearing the end. Honestly I cant wait to be done! Had 2 kids in my 20s and living my life, traveling, self care, etc. Hope more women can be helped!
Thank you for showcasing this subject. We are often ignored and poo-pooed, even by our female Drs. It is like living with chronic disease, it effects every body system. It has been a shocking and debilitating process. My only saving grace has been working in healthcare I work with 95% women, and we commisurate and help each other.
Yet another extremely important interview. Thank you Lewis for taking this on. I am 51 and feel the first changes in my body and I feel so inspired to turn my boat around starting today. I want to get through this period of my life in the best way possible. ❤
1:15:07 I love this!! One of our family members turned 70 years old a couple of weeks ago, and he’s been saying this every single decade since 50 years old. This year, he says, “Life truly begins when you turn 70” 😂😍
SOOOOOOOOO INCREDIBLE GRATEFUL FOR THIS. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE THIS EPISODE ❤❤❤❤❤. Thank you Lewis for all your genuine questions and really giving her questions that are helping us through this difficult time.
I had a feeling that by the time I’m in menopause, my usefulness and desirability will be gone. This confirms it. It makes being not alive sound like the humane way to go
I want to thank you John for bringing this amazing doctor who is providing life saving advice. Dr. Mary, thank you for achieving your purpose and living up to greatness
Why do they NEVERRRR talk about the financial part of actually getting the services?? Insurance will not cover hrt unless it’s synthetic hormones. Ie. Premarin, estradiol pills etc. the fact women have to go outside her medical group to find proper meno care!! That’s the next fix for all women to be able to procure treatment!
It's absolute grief if you longed for more children and aren't married. You feel redundant. A 49/50 year old guy can still start a family while menopause makes a woman seem elderly.
It need not feel that way on an individual level but a lot of work is needed for perceptions within society to change - to change this notion of redundancy. It's ageism which is a behaviour that needs to stop by men and women alike.
@mikaylakruger1064 I now look at you... like you're so innocent. I don't want you to go through this, my darling daughter, but you will know much more than I did...which was nothing. I was so hard on myself, telling myself and you that I'm mentally ill. I just want to hug myself. It was so hard to go through.
I went to a female "specialist " on meno, she looked at me with distain, listened to my symptoms said, yea we will do blood work and you are diabetic, just need to get you to do a glucose test! My test came back. Nope. Not diabetic. Duh... even the "specialist " will treat you like a WW!!
Thank you so much this is a Great Conversation, i am turning 50 this year this will help me have a conversation with my doctor and get this book to educate myself
Only 4 to 6% are on HRT? WOW so low. This shocked me. It seems im not the only one afraid to take it. I have suffered greatly....suicidal for years. I almost took my like is tge summer of 2023. I thought i went crazy. I ran away and slept outside for 23 nights. I needed to be all alone.
Lewis, you’re an excellent interviewer-thank you for asking insightful questions. Dr. Marie Claire’s revelations were incredibly helpful and reassuring, giving us much to consider and work on. I was also surprised to hear Lewis mention that he has never been drunk or had a full glass of alcohol-at 43, I’m the same way. It was nice to hear someone else express this openly.
I love this doctor because she's a true pioneer! but ladies--If you decide to seek treatment for symptoms, make sure you are 100% doing it for yourself. Sex is not a duty and you are not a toy.
42:38 I am 38 and feel the shame and feel less valuable and I have visibly aged in the past 5 years and i have gained 40 lbs and although I have mental health conditions, my moods are getting more & more unstable. Basically since I had my tubes removed
I started running 5 times a week and gained 5 pounds after 3 months. I now understand why. 😅 This Peri meno stuff is horrible. I have all the symptoms she mentioned.
Great info and great education ❤🙏 thank you Lewis for this amazing guest. Also o loved when she said” give your kids enough to be successful, but not enough to do nothing “
I was told I could not take oral estrogen at menopause since my sister had breast cancer . I was given the cream as I was more prone to urinary tract infections told to use 3x a week. That hasn’t impacted the hot flashes consistently severe especially on awakening going on 13 years. Insomnia is an issue as well. I would like to know this doctors viewpoint on not being able to use hrt if breast cancer in the family. Appreciate her input on diet exercise and alcohol. On the flip side no more mood swings lol.
Most women on these Numbers are eating the Standard American Diet. I believe diet has more to do with our hormone imbalance & menapouse symptoms. Some vegans and raw vegans women have no side effects during menopause. Eat more plants ladies ❤ I changed my diet to a vegan oil free no processed foods, and my period significantly got better. I have less cramps, less days, and less bloating. I owe it all to my high fiber intake ❤
Everyone’s body is different, I eat healthy as well lean meat, fish, eggs, turkey, only zucchini, asparagus, kimchi,(bloating with other veggies), some sweet potato and quinoa, blueberries. I lift weights, active hiking, walking etc, in bed by 8. Take Seed pre/probiotic, vitamin D3, turmeric, MK2-7, No menopause symptoms, feel better than ever, age 61. 🙏🏻

Very interesting interview but a very western medical perspective with western statistics. I'm curious to know how eastern cultures view and manage menopause. Our western way is not set up to allow any natural life cycle including menopause.
Yes, yes, yes I’m so happy to see that menopause is out in the open and more women are being guided through this challenging time of change and we’re all different but we all go through it in different way. I love to educate my self on this challenging change that is a domino effect because we stop producing estrogen and that is a huge factor in our body. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Thank you so much❤. Precious conversation❤. One of the best on menopause. We need more doctors like you. Alot of my questions have been answered. I'm not crazy😊
Really? I keep wondering why she’s interrupting him while he’s asking well-worded questions. She constantly interrupts. Love her…but not the interrupting.
This has been so frustrating for me. All the doctors I've seen have said I'm not in menopause. But I have all the symptoms. What do I ask for to get this taken care of?
Kaiser said I was too young for menopause at 43. I shouldn't be having hot flashes since I'm on birth control. (I've taken it consecutively for 12 years as well so haven't had a period on 12 years; no way to judge by that) My lack of libido is mental. Bloating and swelling? *shrug*. Weight gain? Well, that's just what happens as we get older. I finally went to an online clinic that specializes in hormones, they ordered VERY thorough, detailed labs (fasted, which Kaiser never requested), and it turns out that not only do I have hypothyroidism, I'm IN menopause. I started HRT a week and a half ago, and already starting to feel better. The NP was like, yeah, you need ALL the things! So now I'm on thyroid medication, DHEA, testosterone, estradiol, and progesterone. But I had to go out of pocket.
I must say going through menopause made me so grateful that I have a son because I only have one 27 yr old because I hated thinking about any other woman that I know goes through this

I'm already single/divorced in early perimenopause. I feel like just staying alone to avoid the inevitable when the man wants to trade me in for a younger/hotter "model" 😕.
@@kd2533 Yeh that comment alone means you should
@@laurieclarkson9180 I had a very similar experience!!! I opted for a female gynecologists only.
7-keto-dhea, DHEA, daily exercise
My Mother and grandmother n Aunts had breast cancer....so my Drs took me off of once a month B12 and hormone shots.....I am 73 and have not felt good every since....?
@luwannabellah592 review your case with a menopause doctor. You might be looking at some osteoporosis, but you can get some vitality back.
Please send me information from the online doctor. I have a new gyno, he’s a male doctor so I’m
not comfortable speaking about it
Currently in Perimenopause at 48.
I honestly went crazy for several years during menopause, my head was all over the place
I’ve felt like I was losing my mind. It’ scary.

I have been on estrogen and progesterone since 48 and when I turned 50 I began testosterone. I am 💯 more interested in sex and am initiating intimacy with my husband. We’re pretty happy and still in love.

Wishing you greater strength, sister! Reclaim your power and health!
Try looking up Dr. Barbara O’Neill for some practical nutrition information. I hope that you find something helpful. 💕🙏🏻
So glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate you for watching.
Such a blessing to have a husband that understanding
This is what I wanna say too!! Well done 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this interview!! I'm 44 and this was so validated. Nobody taught us how to go through this process....
You're welcome, thank you for watching! 🧡
Sure thing! When it comes to staying healthy, it's not just about physical health but also mental well-being. Taking care of your mind by practicing mindfulness, meditation, or doing activities you enjoy can make a big difference.
Some lady said she isnt caring anymore about what her career will be like,
she is living in preset moment.
her motto is were people happy to see me today, Did I amke them smile etc.
This interview is pure gold! The last 3 truths just made me cry. Thank you.
🙌
Everyone should learn about this valuable information, it can help tremendously with relationships. Good questions Lewis 🙌
What is the name of the test? How did you order?
Excellent interview! So much education! Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate you for watching.
Thank you! So needed! Wish i had learned it earlier. I am holistc and resistant to meds. Just started them again at 61,more focus and moisture
And I have my personal mentors because I take
care of my self awareness, emotions, mind, spiritual pad.
Best interview you have ever done! Factual, truthful, informative, relatable!
Thank you so much for watching!
So glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate you for watching.
Great comment!! So true… keep sharing!
Yet another extremely important interview. Thank you Lewis for taking this on. I am 51 and feel the first changes in my body and I feel so inspired to turn my boat around starting today. I want to get through this period of my life in the best way possible. ❤

Lewis Howes!! You are such a wonderful caring person! Ty for talking about this issue!
Very true!!! I work in a fee for service office that specializes in this. No insurance will cover except some lab fees.
What is the best type of HRT? Is there a natural hormone that is not synthetic

Yep.
Wives need to educate themselves on men's health issues and stop focusing solely on self.
@susansmith493 that's not this video. This video is about women and Metapause. Stick to the topic at hand.

I'm 51.I has no idea the hell I was going to go through. I'm telling my daughter everything. I was told nothing.
Thank you for passing on this knowledge. It needs to be talked about so much more.
👍
Changing my gut health and exercise changed my perimenopause etc to a breeze.
Thank you so much for providing such great information, Lewis .❤

Great conversation and information…so happy men are taking an interest in these important topics to support their relationships with women.
And i really thank you for each question you make. Its a good "interruption" which us not being there we would ask ourselves.
So glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate you for watching.
I love this doctor because she's a true pioneer! but ladies--If you decide to seek treatment for symptoms, make sure you are 100% doing it for yourself. Sex is not a duty and you are not a toy.

I mean I was absolutely suicidal without changes but menopause until I got some hormone therapy
I was surprised when Dr.Claire mentioned progesterone helperd her sleep hugely. Have you tried progesterone for sleep?
Fantastic discussion! I hope many people hear this.

Most women on these Numbers are eating the Standard American Diet. I believe diet has more to do with our hormone imbalance & menapouse symptoms.
Some vegans and raw vegans women have no side effects during menopause. Eat more plants ladies ❤
I changed my diet to a vegan oil free no processed foods, and my period significantly got better. I have less cramps, less days, and less bloating. I owe it all to my high fiber intake ❤
100% agree!

Very interesting interview but a very western medical perspective with western statistics. I'm curious to know how eastern cultures view and manage menopause. Our western way is not set up to allow any natural life cycle including menopause.
My whole life was like that . Trying to keep all normal. Benign tumors had formed something like shells when I was 16.😬
Yes, yes, yes I’m so happy to see that menopause is out in the open and more women are being guided through this challenging time of change and we’re all different but we all go through it in different way. I love to educate my self on this challenging change that is a domino effect because we stop producing estrogen and that is a huge factor in our body. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️

Men don’t get it. That’s why we are replaced so easily.
Worst thing that comes out of all menopause stages, loss of bone, muscle, and collagen.
I must say going through menopause made me so grateful that I have a son because I only have one 27 yr old because I hated thinking about any other woman that I know goes through this
Lewis just drove me crazy with this interview.
