We just bought one!!! they are awesome!
Hopefully buying one of these at the end of the year, they are just so damn expensive, I sure hope it's worth it.
I was at Sandmountain this weekend and saw a stock Maverick beat a RZR XP with $20k in upgrades get beat easy! Very impressed with the Maverick
The Maverick and RZR XP 900 are both awesome machines to ride. We had a RZR XP 900 in our garage for a year and had no issues to speak of. Can't speak on the Maverick as we've only tested it at an intro, but we'd have no issue trusting BRP to build a dependable product. You can't go wrong with either. If you are choosing, go with the dealer you feel more comfortable with.
The Maverick, RZR XP 900, and Wildcat really are at home in the desert so that's where they usually are showcased. The manufacturers like to play to their strengths. It would be great to see slightly narrower versions of these machines for use in tighter trails.
i drove my buddies 1000 r yesterday i don't think i have ever had so much fun
I've watched a couple of videos where the tie rods are broken, front and rear...
I was riding yesterday with a buddy who has a brand new Maverick that had only seen one day in the woods before, he hit a small jump and landed a bit awkwardly on his left rear tire.... Snapped the tie rod. Up until then, though, man that thing was fast! It kept up with most of the 450s with ease.. way faster than the Polaris.
It's cool to know that you drove one before!!!!!!
You sure did! Gitter Done!
Love this maverick!
That slow engagement of the throttle is found on all of the Can-Am Commanders!!! It is something that I do not like!!! Working at a BRP dealer i personally can not wait to be the first to uncrate this awesome unit!
pretty soon these are gonna be the new cars
Hi the lag in the power your talking about is due to the fly by wire throttle, can am actually incorporated this because your driving this thing through bumps and jumps and that makes it extremely hard to have a smooth throttle with your foot bouncing up and down on the peddle, the can am commander has the same type of set up as well, all though I cant say for sure if its worse on the maverick I haven't driven one personally and they may have made some changes.
The delayed response of the throttle is a delay built into the computer. This can be done because the throttle pedal is a fly-by-wire design. Which means it does not have any direct cables going to the throttle body.
There is a company that makes a fly-by-wire delay bypass for the Commander. I don't know if they have one for the Maverick yet. The company name is Dobeck Performance.
Certainly the Maverick, Wildcat, and RZR XP 900 are not meant for tight woods riding. You can do that in the Commander, Prowler, Rhino, Teryx, and RZR models. Don't be surprised to see a narrower version of the Wildcat in the near future as well.
Well see whats up if someone brings one to the King of the Canyons Race in 2013. Gonna be saweet to have some new competion.
Thats badass i want one
It'd be kinda nice to see ktm make a utv to compete with the wild cat, razor 900, and the maverick
I think I just got lightheaded thinking about that. Can't see it ever happening, but you know KTM would build an awesome machine (though it may cost twice as much).
Not sure we'll see a RZR XP 1000 anytime soon. The ProStar 900 engine is still pretty much brand new. However, Polaris has surprises us before.
" seems like the higher the engine Revs the more power we have" LOL no S@#&
on July 29, 2013 Polaris is going to introduce a 2014 115 HP RZR 1000 I have seen spy photos it is total bad ass.
If they put this motor in the renegade 1000 it would really be a rocket
Not sure why you aren't familiar with some of the high reving, high horsepower twins: Honda RC51, Suzuki SV1000, not to mention many of the Ducatis and of course Harley Davidson V-Rods.
And of course the Aprilla RSV 1000, which actually used a predecessor of this engine more than a decade ago.
We got cured of anything Bombardier from their water craft.
Our Polaris experiences have been good.
did you have it in sport mode? its supposed to get rid of the delayed throttle. or it might just need a better clutch...
I want to see them put the engine out of the Mavric and put it in one of the ATV's
I never get throttle bounce because I am keeping my foot pressed to the floor as hard as possible!
Everybody should hope to see a vehicle like this from Yamaha or Kawasaki. Not sure it's going to happen as none of the Japanese produce a bigger ATV/UTV engine than 750cc), but our fingers our crossed.
yup, and how long do you think until the give the 'gade those tweaks? I was holding out for Yamaha's next atv, but if they come out with a 100 hp 'gade my Grizz is going for sale the next day (yes, I know Yamaha is way behind, but they were one of the industry leaders for years. I think when they finally do step up they will again have the best machine on the market. But who knows when that would be)
What about testing in areas like East TN, Windrock, etc. Seems like companys (Polaris, Can Am) want to test in the play sand dunes. How about real tests in some mountain areas..........
CanAm made great dirt bkes. Known for their power in small packages.
Afraid this ones out of reach for many of us.
Make no mistake, if Rotax wanted to get 160 ponies out of this mill, it could happen. Just look at Ski-Doo snowmobiles. They've just to make sure there's enough low-end power for a machine this large and that the platform can safely handle that kind of juice.
Okay wait for it... 2014 Polaris RZR 1000 XP it is going to have 115 HP.Polaris is going to increase from the 46 MM throttle bodies to 51 MM throttle and increase the cyclinder bore. The cockpit with be upgraded as well. The can am is at it peak and only upgrade can am can do from the Maverick is to increase to a 4 cyclinder motorcycle engine.
The RZR 1000 XP will still have lots of upgradable potential.
ya i would love to see yamaha make an all sport side by side to compete with the rzr and the wildcat and this monster when it is released i think it will be able to hang right with them or blow um out of the water
sometimes they over rev and most of your torque is in the lower rpms
on July 29, 2013 Polaris is going to introduce 115 HP RZR 1000 I have seen spy photo s
That is one way to solve it!
Dealers are to soon start rebates & incentives to clear their showrooms because the new Polaris is arriving in July.
The Maverick is nice and peppy, but the drive position is too Rhino farm impliment like for our tastes.
notice where they tested it
Perhaps, but will it work for more than 20 miles before something breaks? You get what you pay for.
so would u buy one?
👍📽
dont get me wrong, this vehicle looks great. but i thimk if they are going to make a sport/racing side by side. they are going to have to make it seem abit smaller. i think they need to have it hunkered down abit more. lover down, why does it need such a high roof? take the rage buggys for example- sorry, but if im going for a fast racy type vehicle i would go for rage- and this is a rare event me saying that id rather something else rather than can am
Not really sure why you think that, different engines have different power bands and torque characteristics, most motorcycle V-twins actually have their most torque around 2-3k RPM and die off the higher they go from there. This is something that can definitely be felt. And this isn't really a good thing, that just means this SxS has most it's torque in the higher RPMs, thus having a slower take-off.
This is 10 years later but I have one and it’s powerful all through bottom to top end
I have those goggles
Could you please review the machines rather than reading out the dealer's brochures?
actually by law a Type 2 ATV can't have more then 999ccs. the Mavarick is at 975. this doesn't leave much for improvement unless they start turboing them. which is probably a bad idea... bigger cost, to much power, safety yadda yadda.
RZR has only 875cc they have a great deal more room for improvement. though the shorter wheelbase probably hinders it somewhat...
Good prediction. lol
Polaris will come out with 110hp motor next just watch
9 people just bought a polaris rzr xp.
If it'll climb in sand exceptionally good it will in the mountains no question. Just go slower and put on 4X4.
I don't know how you can call the "custom" seats custom when they come in every single maverick.
Legally 16 in Calif with a helmet.
only 110hp out of a 1000cc vtwin? its not bad buts its not great especially for rotax
WOW to bad that can am is working on a turbo for the maverick
the hp is great but all the new utvs are getting bigger. Not ideal for the trails i ride
Wildcat
are you an expert?
I wonder how they would do in mud.
the rzr 1000 is going to beat the crap out of that maverick
that legit? or prediction?
/Prevent_the_LOSS_of_recreational_land_usage_in_Southern_Alberta/
You sure about that?
Can am is made by bombardier... That's a Canadian company bro.
Plus can am isnt at its peak
101hp without EPS.. ¬¬
and it will only be 30K !!!!!!!!! amazing at that point ill just buy a jeep
But it cost $16,000
Can-Am thinks all there is to it is power. NO!
Nice, LOL!~
Lets see it rock crawl? I like can am hate visco crap. The well known 3wheel wonder.
not the most powerful, renli 1500h is 120 hp.
How can you rag on this comment. How are they supposed to predict the future?
Are you kidding me LOL. Its always been this way since the beginning of time. So when Polaris ups theres so will Can Am. And to say Can Ams motor is at it max is a idiotic statement.
Are you kidding me they are on a fucking road. Take the diapers off of that and stay off of roads.
