    I had the exact same battery with a brand new regulator for my 1981 kz440, where I messed up was I didnt have the version made for ION batteries. My battery caught on fire on the freeway, it was quite spectacular to be honest! lol

    Did you look at the ultrabatt batteries? They're even smaller and the weight is also less. They also have more inbuilt safeties so that they don't catch fire. Prices are also pretty much the same.

    I'm a huge supporter of Lithium technology Jish. This battery looks to be the ticket for just about any application pending it's properly installed like you said with a compatible R/R. Thanks so much for sharing this my Friend! Cheers! Zip~

    and it cost as a 2car batteries or 6-7 regular bike batteries...
    does it have short circuit and reverse polarity protection??
    does it have over charge and over discharge protection??
    does it have ballance charger managment inside??

    Jish Ive had a Lithium for two years on my 97 blade and loved it up untill last night.I changed the rectifier and it popped my bulbs and smoked horrifically as the bike died.The smell nearly made me I'll.So this has really put me off lithium as I nearly lost my bike.Im scared stiff to even mess around with these batteries anymore.

    Changing to the Shorai battery will yield an equivalent of + 1 hp over the heavyweight stock battery. Power to weight ratio of my '82 stock XJ Maxim (82 bhp/weight 524# = 6.39 # per hp.
    Light weighting a bike always wins, better power/weight ratio and less stress on everything, better braking, better cornering yada yada.

    Everytime I've used a lithium battery in a bike that was actually ridden any distance the batteries didn't hold up. I'm a huge fan of lithium batteries but I don't think they do well in this type of platform. I used one in a race bike to have a light weight way to power the bike without needing much room.
    Lithium batteries suffer from heat as well as constant high charge level. Both of those things are created with internal combustion engine charging systems. This is why I got away from lithium.

      Great bit of input :) I won't be doing long distance on this bike or anything like that so ideal for my purpose. hopefully others will find this video useful or others that use this battery can talk about their experiences with it (y)

    Is the charger necessary, or will the bike recharge the battery just as the original?

    • @jishh
      @jishh  4 роки тому

      oh the bike will charge the battery yes :) but if you don't use the bike for a while like over winter, you will inevitably have to charge the battery back to full health and you will need the specific charger for it

    Hi, I tried to buy the same battery from Dime City Cycles but they do not ship to the UK. They state: "Due to Shipping Restrictions we cannot ship Hazardous Materials to your Country." Did you have the same issue and/or how did you get around it? Thanks.

    Hi Jish, first thanks for your awesome contents, I’m following your builds since the cb125 and I’m actually making my own cb125T build. I was starting to look at the battery subject, your video is on point !
    If you had to take one of these shorai battery for your cb125 which one would you take ? I’m kind of lost with all the references, plus the cb is a 6V circuit .
    Thanks by advance
    Romain

    • @jishh
      @jishh  5 років тому +1

      Glad you are enjoying the videos mate!
      Right. So what i have found out through my 125 build is the 6v electrical system needs a lead acid 6v battery as it uses the battery as a regulator for the high voltage. I wasn’t able to make it work hence why i switched to 12v where parts and info is easier to come by. I dont think shorai do 6v batteries and unsure this video will be able to help 😣 i would advise looking at converting to 12v first and hopefully that will open many doors for you and your build ✌️

    • @romaindelduca7069
      @romaindelduca7069 5 років тому

      Okay so if I understand correctly I might need to add a regulator to the system if I try to convert it to 12V
      It make sense because every parts I’ve found are more dedicated to 12V than 6V
      Thanks for your answer !
      I will show you the bike when it’s finished ;)

    Hey Jish, I have a more uncommon Honda cb700sc nighthawk. Its hard to find some parts for it and very rear to find people working and modifying this bike. I want to make sure I get the electrical components it(so it doesn't explode on me). Is there anything you know about this bike or any place I could find for more information on what to get? I would very much appreciate any help I can get.
