I don't see this one being a big seller to the public. Tour pros and even amateur tourney guys will use it whenever the rules exclude other urethane balls like the Pitch Black and the Purple Hammer, but outside of that, I'm betting most will fall back on the shape and ball reaction of the softer urethane balls they were using before. It DOES seem, however, that Storm has done a great job utilizing a big(er), strong(er) core to offset the harder, weaker coverstock to best mimic the now "illegal" urethane balls.
It's the IQ core, there is nothing big or strong about it.
@@timanders3151 Of course the core is weak, but compared to the Pitch Black (which is what I was referencing), it is significantly different (stronger). 78u uses the C3 core whereas the PB has the old Capacitor core. Flare is way different (more) on the new 78u compared to the PB, and that's all bc the core compensates for the weaker cover. If you look at the specs, you'd see that (PB: 2.57, 0.022 vs 78u: 2.49, 0.029).

I disagree.... this ball has more torque than the pitch core. Lower rev bowlers will be able to use this over the older urethane.

back in the 80s. traveling to tourneys in the New England area. Nabi and ABT. use to have to keep my AMF Angles in a cooler if it was a hot day so they would pass the durometer test at check in. man the Gold Angle was a sponge hahahah

As somebody who has the ball, I’ve been using it on my local house shot and it has been killer. Somebody who doesn’t bowl sport patterns could definitely use it. Tied my pb of 279 first day using it average 175.

I was so happy when urethane was "banned" cuz I thought it would cause the tour would go primarily reactive again but with all these new balls coming out it just seems like everyone has found a way to work the system in their favor.
Big shoes to fill in Pitch Black but at least this ball is comparable unlike the Hammer version

Thank you for saying it. Zero reason to purchase this ball if you aren't bowling PBA events. I'm on staff, got mine Tuesday. Threw it in sport league a bit on Thursday. Probably the last time it'll end up in the bag, quite honestly. I do want to try the 4x4x0 on a PB though.
Well I already got one coming. I like harder urethane equipment. Never really got used to softer ones, purple wasn't bad. My leagues are normally higher friction houses so this should be fun. My favorite urethane rn is a zen u tbh

i cant even remotely explain how hyped i am for this ball. as an IQ lifer who recently has been rolling urethane this is like a dream come true. i know its a pretty niche product but by god am i that niche 😂
