Marvin Gaye (RIP) is a Motown Records legend. He helped to shape the sound of Motown in the 1960s earning him the nicknames- Prince of Motown & Prince of Soul. He won a Grammy for this 1982 song. His later recordings influenced R&B subgenres such as Quiet Storm & Neo Soul. He has a lot of duets with Tammi Terrell (RIP). Method Man/Mary J Blige sampled his song You’re All I Need To Get By for their hit All I Need. Marvin Gaye songs: What’s Going On, Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler), Let’s Get It On, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Heard It Through The Grapevine, Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology), Trouble Man, Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing, Your Precious Love & You’re All I Need To Get By.

@@Sheraytv On April 1, 1984, the eve of his 45th birthday, Marvin Gaye Jr was shot and killed by his father, Marvin Gaye Sr after Marvin Gaye Jr intervened in a fight between his parents in the family house in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. Marvin Gaye Jr became involved in a physical altercation with his father who then shot Gaye Jr twice, once in the chest, piercing his heart, and then into Gaye Jr's shoulder. After Marvin Gaye Jr's funeral, his body was cremated at Forest Lawn Memorial Park-Hollywood Hills, and his ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean.
Marvin Gaye Sr was initially charged with first-degree murder, but the charges were reduced to voluntary manslaughter following a diagnosis of a brain tumor. He was given a suspended six-year sentence and probation. He died at a nursing home in 1998.
Many music institutions have posthumously bestowed Marvin Gaye Jr with awards and other honors including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and inductions into the Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
