DeWalt 60 Gallon Air Compressor - Purchase, Install, and First Run

- Finally got a good air compressor for the shop. I forgot to mention in the video that the circuit providing power to the compressor is indeed a 30amp 220vac circuit. It was installed for my table saw and since it is essentially a receptacle on an extension cord, I used it just to test the compressor. I'll be installing another 30 amp 220vac circuit dedicated to air compressor.
You answered the one question that I couldn't find an answer to in the manual before purchasing, and that was what size pipe outlet is on the compressor outlet. Good to know it's 3/4 NPT, I was about to buy a bunch of 1/2 NPT parts to plumb it in with, so thank you for that. Also, I know exactly which Tractor Supply that is! Greetings fellow Northern Virginian!
I just got one and keep shutting down at like 40psi like it’s gonna burn up🤦🏾♂️
Nice video! I just brought one from Tractor Supply on BlackFriday sale. Going to pick it up. Thanks for the setup video.
Awesome! Get a filter/regulator. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good job, I just bought the same one and plumbed it out, im putting a vid on my channel tomorrow!
Awesome video brother! Just got mine today 😀
Congrats! I've used mine quite a bit and have no regrets. Thanks for watching!
Harbor Freight sells a nice automatic drain valve that would work great on that.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I'll check out what HF has.
Great video! Gotta teach them young 💪🏼
you consider Strapping it to your Vertical 2x4's
I just bought one -- picking it up next week. Curious, did it come oiled from factory? I may need to transport horizontally, so wondering if I need to drain first.
What they don’t tell you at Home Depot or tractor sales, they don’t come wired you have to do that and there is a break in period . Read your manual
Gotta do your homework. Oil is another factor to consider. But, hopefully videos like this are helpful.
Great Job! How did you lift it up off the platform? Doesn't it Weigh 200Lbs, per the Specifications
I seen little man following dad cleaning up... love to see men being men
Is the wire 10/2 or 10/3 i am so confused on this wiring thing. Where is the ground coming from if everyone is using a 10/2. First time making a power cord. Lmk
It can get confusing... my other video shows the wiring and will probably clear things up.

10/2 = 10 is the gauge of the wire; 2 is the number of conductors; there is also a ground wire, hence there are 3 total wires. Now, a 10/3 or 12/3 or 14/3, etc. will have a total of 4 wires (3 conductors plus ground). Gauge and breaker amperage (amps) are VERY important. Hope that helps and be safe!
@@JerichoRally ok so I did buy the 10/2 but I had it all hooked up and everything and it still didn't work. I wonder if there's something in the breaker thats messed up
@@kylemickelson9411 get yourself a voltmeter and start testing. But be careful. Use Google and UA-cam for info. Or ask questions here.
ALL 240V Romex is always /3 - 10 Gauge = 30Amp 10/3 30 Amp, 8 Gauge 40Amp 8/3 40Amp, 6 Gauge up to 60Amp 6/3 60Amp, /3 = 2 Hots (2 120Volts x 2) , 1 neutral and 1 Ground
Great video , got a question how do you make it stop at 150psi , mine just keeps going and i have to shut it off manually 🤔
Just bought mine it stopped at 175 the pressure switch plumbed into the on switch could be faulty or need adjusting.
Every 5 to 10 years make sure you check the thickness of the tank . If you don’t the tank can explode. So be careful i saw your baby on the video., and i would not like a tragedy to happen to your family. Take care and Godbless.
How do you check the thickness of a tank?
What did you use to put on threads pipe out the side?
Pipe dope
I used thread tape same as any plumb job pipe dope works to.
Hows the compressor now thinking of getting one? Also why not put compressor on the bed of truck in back?
Compressor is awesome! I don't have any regrets with purchasing it. I used the trailer because of several factors - bed rail ties downs arent rated for the weight of the compressor, (and I only have two since I have a toolbox in my bed); my truck is tall and I'm a one man show when it comes to lifting heavy objects so using my trailer was a statement of working smarter, not harder. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JerichoRally ok yeah makes since.did you use a dolly to move from trailer to house? Prob weight what 400lb
@@david2881 only 208lbs but top heavy so I was worried gravity/leverage would yank the tie downs right out. And yes, definitely used a dolly with straps.
How loud you think it is?
According to Dewalt, 83 decibel. According to my ear... much quieter than my old 5 gal craftsman. I love this compressor!!
Thinking to buy this one, how's it going so far good? Any issues?
No issues at all. I say go for it. I absolutely love this compressor! Good luck.
@@JerichoRally thank you, great video.
What size power cable did you run? 8 or 10g?
10 gauge goes to the motor from switch so that should be plenty
Question what size pipe use for outlet right out the side of compressor? Just bought one.used caliper got like 23mm 7/8 but might be like 15/16. I wired like you did black on right white other
7:50 should answer your question. I used 1/2" pipe.
@@JerichoRally ok thank you must have missed that
@@david2881 it's 3/4 npt and he reduced it to 1/2"
@@scottkarjala ok thks i got mine hooked up.its nice.alot of work to get everything together running lines through basement.i used dryer outlet with ground ran another ground outside into ground
It is normal that the tank is hot ??
absolutely normal.
What is the factory setting for the pressure switch?
If you're referring to max psi, it's 150. Not sure what the cut in is. My installation video has some detail. Skip to 24:40.

Where is your regulator? Need to be able to dial it back for some tools.
I have no tools! Lol I have the regulator picked out and just waiting for the funds to allow. Took me almost a year to save up for the compressor. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Baby approved lol
He's my buddy! He loves all my tools, the Silverado, and my tractor!
