Loved the team of the late sixties early seventies. The shed was my second home. Travelling on the football specials was always an experience especially when the team were aboard. Thanks for all the great memories

The feeling is mutual the Shed was the place to watch the game. My father preferred the West Stand as it was quieter 😂
What a great listen. Loved watching the 70s team. Was at the county Swindon when Hutch broke his leg for the 3rd time i think it was in a reserve match. Was so lucky to have spent a few hours with Ossie at Alan benefit game at Carshalton many years ago. I donated a gift for the occasion and Ossie rang me and asked me to meet him there, they say not to meet your idols but Ossie was brilliant. Passed much to young. May he R.I.E.P

I have just subscribed to your brilliant podcast. I am forever a Chelsea fan of over 55 years. Peter Osgood was an exceptionally great player. I also rated Alan Hudson very highly - a great looking guy. At my boarding school in Brighton all the school girls had pictures of Alan Hudson smothered all over their bedroom wall! I lived in South Woodford so it was an easy journey to get to Stamford Bridge with my father (Hull City supporter). Please keep up the good work - it is so enjoyable listening to the stories! ❤
Back in late sixties & early seventies we used to walk into Chelsea training ground at Mitcham no fencing or Security, sit on the sideline and watch the whole team have a training session, everyone of the team had time to talk to you and sign your autograph book afterwards, fantastic times,
I remember the 1970 FA cup final replay at Old Trafford. Osgood tackled Jack Charlton and knocked him over the side line. Charlton got up and kicked Ossie over and he went down. What a night that was and I don't think a free kick was awarded but I could be wrong. What an era that was

In about 1969 I used to support Chelsea and had the football kit of the same. I was a right winger and one of my heroes of the team was Charlie Cooke. I watched the video the other day with you Alan and Charlie

I've just discovered this and subscribed - thank you, Alan, for all the fantastic entertainment your brilliant play (and Peter and the others too of course) gave me when I was a boy in the late 60s and 70s.
I'd have definitely supported Chelsea if it weren't for George Best!

ps i moved to somerset & they had a pub in Norton Fitswarren funny how these things happen!
Oz was the most underated English centre forward, should have played in the 1970 World Cup and many more appearances for England
Nobody has ever personified the King's Road image of Chelsea like Peter or ever will.

I lived in & worked in London ( Stockwell) so watched Chelsea,& went to the replay of the cupfinal @ old Trafford!
Hudson had gone but great goal by osgood, & i thought Hudson was a great midfielder! perhaps too much drinking but that was the culture then . i was lucky to see them play live 😌
the old clash of personalities!
I have always daydreamed If only Tommy Docherty and Terry Venables hadn't of clashed and Dave Sexton had remained a coach where he was better suited and if Peter hadn't of broken he's leg then they could of beaten spurs in 1967.
Would Doc of had a better relationship with Peter and Alan et al ? and they could of been contenders for the league earlier before their success in the early 70's.
What would of been the lineup in 1968 /69 could Alan have played alongside Venners in midfield I would love to thinks so.
Docherty;s Diamonds never fully come to fruition partly to those 2 incidents in '65 & '66 respectively but its fun trying to imagine what the squad would of been had the doc still been in charge, such an abundance of talent to choose from, however I'll go with this choice :

Martin Knight who wrote Hoolifan with Martin King?
If he’d played against Brazil in 1970, we probably would have won. We had a number of chances and he had the talent to have converted them. Great player never played enough for England, but all the England managers of that time were suspicious of real talent. That’s an English problem that’s still around today, and we’ve won nothing because of it!
"Retaliation in first". Interesting that Johnny decided on the same philosophy after a bad experience in a match.

Osgood should have played in 1970. Francis Lee Astle were poor,,,
