    When we Americans hear the word "coriander" we usually think of the ground seeds of the plant used as a spice. The fresh leaves of the plant are known in these parts as "Cilantro". Many Americans are surprised to learn that cilantro is actually the same as "fresh coriander", which is most closely associated with Mexican style food, especially guacamole.

    • @mwrkhan
      @mwrkhan 11 місяців тому +3

      Cilantro is just the Spanish word, coriander is the French word.

    • @Its_a_Mr_Eh
      @Its_a_Mr_Eh 7 місяців тому

      @@mwrkhannope. If you read the Wayne Gisselin professional cooking book (aka the kitchen bible), it will tell you that the seed is coriander and the leaf is cilantro. Same plant. Just as the OP said originally.

    • @mwrkhan
      @mwrkhan 7 місяців тому

      @@Its_a_Mr_Eh Gisselin is American and, naturally, is reiterating American practice. Outside the US, the term coriander is used for both the seed and leaf. The word is derived from the French "coriandre". We refer to the spice as ground coriander and just say coriander for the leaf. Cilantro is said in Spain and Italy, adopted in the US, possibly via Mexico.

    • @Its_a_Mr_Eh
      @Its_a_Mr_Eh 7 місяців тому

      @@mwrkhan I'm not American, nor are the culinary institutions necessarily that use this book as the GLOBAL standard. When the OP correctly stated the definitions of those terms and even said they were American, you felt the need to (incorrectly) correct them. I bet you think shrimp and prawn are the same thing too.

    • @mwrkhan
      @mwrkhan 7 місяців тому

      @@Its_a_Mr_Eh Nonsense. In any case, shrimps and prawns are zoologically different. Ask for cilantro anywhere in the Indian subcontinent and you will be met with a vacant look.

      Ignorant and superstition? Nothing ignorant about it. In fact, all you need to do is put moderate research into Near Death Experiences. You'll find that regardless of age or belief system, people are describing a reality more real than the current one we re living in. That includes scientists and doctors experiencing an ultra real reality even when completely brain dead. The best part is the message is always consistent. It's all about love. Much love and cheers

    • @AndrewJens
      @AndrewJens 7 місяців тому

      @@devonm6187 Re. _"people are describing a reality more real than the current one we re living in",_ no they are not. Near-Death Experiences (NDE) are often accompanied by low levels of oxygen which have been hypothesized to induce hallucinations, as well as the effects of elevated carbon dioxide levels, as well as the effects of the body's release of endorphins during events leading to NDE. You don't have to put _"moderate research into NDE"_ because you can read about a great deal of research that has been conducted by actual scientists on the subject. Could you please provide a link to a reliable scientific source that supports your assertion of an _"ultra real reality"_ during complete brain death?
      Please note: anything that is described via a NDE is _zero_ confirmation for the fictional writings of superstitious and ignorant iron-age men, and certainly no support for "the big man upstairs". In fact, there is not a single piece of evidence that scientifically links a NDE to a single piece of writing found in any of the fictional religious texts.
