I have to add that her advice was interesting for me and reinforced what I have been noticing. My best colors have changed slightly as I've gotten older. Pastels are not great for me anymore. I think she made good points. I agree that we have to rejoice that we are still living and not worry too much about this stuff every day--maybe just for those special occasions? Great outlook!
I am 70. Brunette with wonderful silver highlights! Brown vibrant eyes and can wear almost everything well at 5’8. I’m well known for color, color fills me and makes me happy. Black and whites yes, but rarely for me in the summer.. I’ve never dressed for anyone else but myself. And, question, why do my eyes matter in this? Why can’t we wear what makes us feel good? At this age, who cares what others think if it feels good. I love PINK, take it away from me in any shade and I would be miserable. I came upon this site in my feed and I do not agree. Wear what makes you happy!!!
I think everyone can elevate their style, I think most people of a certain age know some of the things that physically work better than others. I also think it is a fun time of life to indulge in things that you just LIKE. As in the quote: "When I am an old woman I will wear purple..." An old person may decide to wear purple whether it suits them or not, and that is everyone's right. However, sometimes you do want to appear as your "elevated" self which takes into account your physical conditions such as your line and your best colors.
That's not true. I am 55 and some outfits I wear suit my personality and desires. It suits my physical traits too long thick black hair and nice skin tone
You should avoid all the colors which are not right for your color type. Someone looks terrible in red, another one looks great. Many people look terrible in black (and they still wear it because it's popular) and there are some who look wonderful even in black. So you can't say to everyone to avoid some colors because they would look old. Someone would, but someone would look good in them.
You make a great point! Color preferences can vary widely from person to person. It’s so personal, and the key is finding the colors that make you feel your best. Embracing what works for you is essential to looking and feeling fantastic!
I am a red head who am now white haired. My face is white. I saw a video of myself wearing baby blue - which I love! But I looked completely washed out! I also love white - same thing. The colors you mention, like navy blue, emerald green are too strong. I can wear a scarf with terra Cora, rusty red, which helps.
Totally agree! One of the most beautiful looks I have ever seen was the one my mother's cousin was dressing in my brother's wedding. She was in a beautiful red dress at 75 years old and looked just gorgeous !
With fair skin, white hair and blue eyes, I choose colors that make me feel good and in this way, look good. My trend is gor the deeper tones of primary colors such as blue, green , turquoise and purple! I avoid the blahs of camel and beige! Make up does wonders for the face. I’m going on 87!
I also avoid beige. I think I knew that beige wasn't good in my youth as well, though. Even before my hair was beige. Beige items were bought and not worn.
I’m not quite 60 yet but I def agree. From hair to makeup to clothing. I def don’t want any more of the fade out as everything is fading on me. My hair, brows, skin so I def don’t need to add any more of that with blah clothing. Lol. The only “tan” things I have are a couple of khaki pants. Lol. In my youth I was a high contrast kind of girl so the “age fade” was kind of a shocker for me. Lol.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love your content, ideas and suggestions. All of them. And it’s fantastic that you display all these suggestions and ideas on mature models of every size. This has been needed for so long. I feel inspired and lifted when I watch your videos. Keep up the great work ❤
I’ve always been a jewel tone gal and still have that cool shade to my skin. Thank you for reaffirming what my gut has been telling me. I went back to work last year and am needing new things so this helped hugely! Beautiful models, too!
Why avoid the eyes? I have green/blue eyes that are pale and often get compliments on. I also have a warm undertone and know what colors suit my complexion and hair color. I gravitate toward warm spring and soft autumn tones. There are definitely colors I avoid but not because I’m aging.
You didn't pay attention to the video. Sometimes the white of the eyes get yellow with age, and such a person might not want to wear colors that emphasize the yellow in the eyes. Just like, for example, it's generally a bad idea to wear lipstick colors that emphasize yellow teeth.
Then why do you repeatedly say negative things about eyes throughout the video? What you say applies only to a small amount of people, why make it the very unpleasant highlight.
Absolutely! Everyone’s color type is unique, and finding the right shades makes all the difference. It’s great that you’ve found what works best for you!

Fading skin. I have to have enough pop. I think it makes me look more vibrant and alive. I def feel more alive that way. So hah. It’s burgundy hair color. Enhanced brows and a bit of bronzer. Some snappy clothing pop item and I’m all set. Oh and right. A bit of tint on the lips and shimmer around the eyes. I also am a big fan of the color correcting face tints/primers. I guess the idea for me is to glow, not fade away into dull, washed out beige land.
I totally agree and this was a refreshing video. I follow it completely and didn't even know. I am 72 with olive skin & light brown hair. Let's talk makeup next time please.
I go by what colour suits me sometimes matching or elevates my skin tone & eyes … sometimes you just have to figure what works .. in other words wear what you want not what others say !
It seems that the models used in this video to illustrate the ‘do’s’ were all handsomely made up with tanish skin tones. The models illustrating the ‘don’ts’ were left very plain and washed out. Just saying.
I have autumn coloring and cannot wear pastels or some jewel tones. Winter coloring look great in Jewel tones. There is no ‘one size fits all’. Some colors work easier than others for most.. like navy.
I will be 84 in a few months, have white hair & very pale blue eyes. When I wear anything pale blue my eyes really "pop" ,have had people in restaurants, cashiers etc look at me and say "you have gorgeous eyes". I do love jewel tones though.
I enjoyed this video so much! I love color. I like pinks & blues & warm colors. I used to wear a lot of black & white. I'm 68 yrs old & I don't want to dress like an old person. I have 6 grandchildren & I'd like to dress with some elegance. I don't want to be fancy, but I would like to be a grandma that her grandkids say, "Grandma dresses pretty cool for being a grandma."😊
Many years ago, when my older sister was getting married, she decided to have the ‘colors’ of the two bridesmaids (my younger sister and myself) and the maid of honor done to help choose a color for us all to wear. The bride ended up being autumn, my younger sister was spring, the maid of honor was summer, and I was a winter. Long before that I was always drawn to the jewel tones. Trying to find a red with blue undertones instead of the orange undertones has always been a difficult thing. Trying to find clothes in the tones during early spring into into the summer months is also very difficult.
I can relate because I've always looked better in cool tones. Orange, yellow and some shades of green look terrible on me. This hasn't changed since my hair is white and I'm aging.
I am an optician with 45+ years experience. I took that color me beautiful course many years ago and have used the basic rules with eyeglass frame selection. Many happy customers!
I changed my gray hair to red, and now my hazel eyes pop green. I can wear a wider pallet of colors than before I changed my hair color. Before dismissing any color, consider shades, tones, and undertones.
You show great outfits and paring of colors. I agree with you! I'm fair complexion w/ blue eyes. I like show casing my eyes because even with imperfections they have always been my best feature. I lean toward "peacock colors" and jewel tones. I use neutrals in jackets and coats...but always wear a scarf with them to soften the contrast between jacket and my blouse.
Personally I love fluorescent colours--orange, sherbet, chartreuse/limey green, and yellows of any shade all the way to dijon mustard. These colours just burst on me & I always get compliments, especially with the orange.
For those with neutral skin tones, you have the advantage of wearing a wide range of colors and metals. Both silver and gold jewelry can complement your look, and you can experiment with various hues without being confined to warm or cool tones. Neutral skin tones often work well with both bright and muted colors, offering flexibility in your wardrobe choices. However, be cautious with colors that are too harsh or high-contrast, as they can sometimes overwhelm a neutral skin tone. Softer, balanced colors often create a more harmonious look. Additionally, while neutral tones can handle a broad spectrum, it’s wise to test very warm or cool colors to see how they align with your personal style. Hope this helps!☺️
I am Mediterranean. I had very dark brown hair with a reddish glow and hazel green eyes. But my hair is turning into silver very fast, and I'm not sure what to wear anymore, because I am going to grow it out, I don't want to keep hair dye every 2 weeks with dark color. My skin tone is olive, and I tan very well and it's a golden bronze tan, but I have to stay out of the sun now too. So, basically, I am changing in hair and skin tone, and I am clueless as to what colors would suit me.
My hair colour was darkest brown from my Italian father, but I am quite pale skinned, so have gone light brown. It took me a few years to work things out. My cousin had the same colour hair but olive skin and has gone lighter too. She has dyed it a warmer shade of lighter brown, as her skintone is warmer than me. Going lighter means less dyeing less often and you can get some spray on colour for the roots between treatments these days too. I suggest you try different shades of lighter brown to see which works well against your skin and eyes. Then make the move to softer colours, either warm or cooler shades, depending on which way you go with your hair colour. Hope that helps!
I don’t care for beige either - but do love camel and feel not great when I wear beige and great wearing camel 😊 I can tell what shades look and feel right to me 👏🏻🤩 Interesting video - thanks for posting 👏🏻🍁🌻🎃
Most basic point - skin tones re either warm or cool undertone. Camel will not suit cool tone skin. Jewel colours will not suit warm skin tone. Second - eye and hair colour create a contrast with skin colour. High contrast means you can wear more contrasting values, a dark and a light value together. Or if you have coloured eyes, like blue or green and coloured hair like red, strawberry blond you can mix more colours in your clothing. It would be better to start with the qualities of skin, eye, hair colour than all the colours and then imply you can wear them. There are far better, more comprehensive and accurate videos on colour than this one.
This is silly since ANY person of ANY age should wear the colors that flatter them that goes with their skin and overall colaration. Get your color pallette done for you PERSONALLY!!
Thank you for doing this much needed segment! I'm a blue eyed, redhead with blue undertone skin. Always like black, greys, certain shades of pink and used to wear royal blue but it's too bold now.
Majority of the models have grey hair so the recommended colours go with the grey/white hair. Actually it's the hair that is noticeable. Not all of us embrace grey hair, mine is mostly still my original colour so I'm staying dark haired for as long as I can (I use henna on the grey bits, easy to use, no harsh chemicals, can mix as much as needed). I look awful in jewel tones and jet blacks. Indigo is my best "black". Those huge glasses are flashbacks to the "80's. Older women look like elves in them, cute but still elves.
According to this I have been ( unwittingly) wearing all of the correct colours .. because they just happen to be my favourites anyway and always have been at any age . However , I think people should wear whatever volours they like and not be governed by online influencers.
There are very few rules that apply to everyone. However, your color game becomes more important as you age. My personal favorite is when people allow their hair to be natural because most dyed hair is the wrong color for the skin. Even if dyed hair color starts on day one as correct for your skin it quickly becomes brassy,. Dyeing it more often is very bad for you and your hair. You and your hair will be much healthier un-dyed. You might have to cover dyed hair to figure out what your best colors are. Most people of a certain age will already have items of clothing they know look good on them. If a person collects photos of themselves in those best outfits it will probably be apparent what their color type is (cool or warm, contrasting or not). As you age and your natural hair color and skin changes you will use those colors differently. You can look in the mirror and tell when a color that was good is now doing nothing for you. You can still use that color it in small amounts, but not in large swaths. Your style type also becomes more important as you age, and it will affect how you use your best colors. If your style is dramatic you will use color differently than a classic and so on.
I am 70 and gone from darkest brown to light brown, would not dream of going grey. My eyes have gone from darkest olive to mid green, so I took my hair lighter too, as some grey came in. I have always had pale ivory, slightly warm tone skin and the dark hair contrast looked too stark with ageing. I feel everything is balanced out again now though. I do wear softer colours, slightly warm, greens and apricots, some reds and turquoise, never black or stark white any more, except for a funeral, with ivory underneath, and camel makes my skintone look washed out completely.
Thank you for your feedback!☺️ I completely understand where you're coming from. Color analysis tends to be more personalized, and it’s true that everyone’s style and preferences are unique. Most of these color suggestions have worked really well for my clients, but of course, we’re all different, and what works for one person might not work for another. I’ve tried to keep the video under 10 minutes for convenience, so it’s more of a general guide to get started. Personal style and preferences always come first, and I encourage everyone to adapt tips in a way that suits their individuality! I appreciate your input and love hearing different perspectives! Thank You 😘😘
It’s a shame it’s not done now , the place I went to in the eighties was called Colour Me Beautiful and not only did they do colours but taught on the style of clothes to suit different shaped bodies but also on makeup etc .
@@ruthdoyle3572 My body shape now is totally different than it was in the eighties--sadly. I remember that Color Me Beautiful thing. I have very little gray hair at seventy and still have fairly good skin, but I do notice that colors that were flattering then, are not as good now.
I'm confused. First you said to wear jewel tone, bright ruby red but then later on say to avoid bright fire engine red or bright tomato red. What's the difference?
My eyes have always been my best feature, why do I have to avoid showcasing them just because I passed 50. Uhhh nope. I will wear clothes that I feel good in….
I think I lost out why you don't want to draw attention to your eyes! That's where you do want your attention.. that's the you.. far better than the lips or the cheeks or the body parts that are below the neck!
She said if the whites of your eyes have yellowed with age. Not everyone has that problem, but women who do might want to avoid wearing colors that draw attention to it.
@@mt.shasta6097That is not alway correct many Irish have dark red hair, and a ruddy complexion, sit in any RC church, and look at the back of many peoples necks, and you will see what I mean.Red haired people who have bright red hair do indeed have pale complexions, but there are many tones of red hair, and consequently many skin tones.
@@mt.shasta6097That's wrong. Redheads, natural redheads, always have a warm or neutral/warm skintone. Paleness has nothing to do with it except to make the warmth very subtle.
Yes, natural redheads always lean toward a warm tone skin. Many redheads think that pink cheeks, due to the transparency of their skin, means that they're cool, but that has nothing to do with whether their skin has a blue or a golden undertone. You probably already know, but cool tone skins have a blue undertone but warm tone skins have a golden undertone, no matter how subtle. At most, a natural redhead will be neutral/warm, but will never have a blue undertone.

What is the problem with eye color?
Thank you for sharing. Be blessed.
Thank you for the valuable information.
Please show colors that enhance women of color!!!
I still wear white and black, but with a pop of color like a scarf or under a cardigan. It's not easy to find cream colored t shirts.
Green and pink with cool undertones
Would like , elegance at 80,thanks!
I like bright colors I’m Spanish person in white and blue maroon
I love neons in summer and have a light, neutral skin tone. Not sure the gem colors work.
I love jewel tones.
Terracotta, beige and camel do not suit everyone so your video is incorrect.
If you wear any colors that are reflected in your eyes it is flattering
This is silly since ANY person of ANY age should wear the colors that flatter them that goes with their skin and overall colaration. Get your color pallette done for you PERSONALLY!!
I would prefer to see the person who is talking. But good advice and great choice of models who look like women over 60.
Great video
I love the jewel colors and dusty rose
Seems as if any and every color can "emphasize fine lines and wrinkles"
Thank you for doing this much needed segment! I'm a blue eyed, redhead with blue undertone skin. Always like black, greys, certain shades of pink and used to wear royal blue but it's too bold now.
It’s not clear what’s ‘warm’ or ‘cool.’ What is an olive complexion? What is an ivory one? Pale skin with rosy checks? I’m confused by terminology.
Pastels, light tans and beiges wash me out.
Thanks for sharing! Pastels and beige can be really tricky to pull off! It’s great that you’ve figured out what works best for you and what doesn’t.❤️
People used to get their colors done back in the day and it’s so individual…your system really does not make sense. Sorry.
@@ruthdoyle3572 I have the book! 😂 Wonder if it is still available?
@@ruthdoyle3572 My body shape now is totally different than it was in the eighties--sadly. I remember that Color Me Beautiful thing. I have very little gray hair at seventy and still have fairly good skin, but I do notice that colors that were flattering then, are not as good now.
You know, bottom line is whatever you like. Who’s to say who has a better dress sense than yourself. Just have the confidence to be yourself
Black all day everyday. Gold jewelry. That’s elegance! Or white.
I love wearing black too! You can always put a colorfull scrarf around your neck to add color!
Great video ‼️😊
The color that is very hard for me to “love” is violet, purple, and indigo. That’s why I don’t wear clothes with these colors.
I'm confused. First you said to wear jewel tone, bright ruby red but then later on say to avoid bright fire engine red or bright tomato red. What's the difference?
Ruby is cool and tomato is warm
My eyes have always been my best feature, why do I have to avoid showcasing them just because I passed 50. Uhhh nope. I will wear clothes that I feel good in….
Jewel tones
It helps to wear the right makeup as a bare face exacerbates a harsh, older look.
thank you
Who said going grey was an option I will dye till I die!
I think I lost out why you don't want to draw attention to your eyes! That's where you do want your attention.. that's the you.. far better than the lips or the cheeks or the body parts that are below the neck!
No one looks at your eyes anymore they look at cells phones!
She said if the whites of your eyes have yellowed with age. Not everyone has that problem, but women who do might want to avoid wearing colors that draw attention to it.
I always thought redheads were warm skin tone
Redheads are notoriously and beautifully pale skinned. DNA never puts warm skin with red hair. Nature knows best.
I have beautiful blue eyes......they are my best asset.
😂i love neons... Am 65😂 dont care🎉
It’s great to see you embracing your personal style with confidence! ☺️ Fashion is all about expressing yourself and feeling great, regardless of age. ❤️
I love it!🥰 🤗
What's all this about not drawing attention to your eyes??
I have a natural skin tone so muted colors work best on me
I agree with your advice!
Hey, how about dark skinned women?
All 50+ models in these videos look alike. Grey or white hair, blue eyes. I can’t relate to them.
I would like to see gray haired models. I have no idea what my color is.
Very conflicting advice! Wear whatever you like! I like to emphasise my eyes not look invisible!
OMG just because society says 🙄 come on people wear what ever makes you feel good…to hell with society’s take 💪‼️
We barelly got rid of the "How to look thinner BS and now there are ALL these " looks that make you older/ Will make you younger" vídeos on my screens and social média all The time..What's wrong with being older? Just suggest pretty looks and good fabrics and cuts and leave people's bodies alone, please.
dont look older, dont look older, panick panick panick!!!!
What's wrong with my eyes, I'm 71 with hardly any wrinkles and have nice eyes, so I highlight them by wearing matching blues. As long as your clothes are modest and smart, wear what you like and enjoy it.
Why do these feel like they aren't for black or brown women?
@@aprilshannon1605 I think black and brown women look lovely in bright colors and white❣️just my opinion. My daughter in law is Colombian and she looks lovely in all colors including white with her light brown skin and long black hair 😊 I’m sure you look beautiful in a plethora of colors too ❤️💛🩷💙🧡💜🤍🤎💚🩶🖤 😍
@@melaniemauldin7891 there were no Black or Brown women in the shots.
@@aprilshannon1605 so you were trying to bait someone, huh. Well what I said was from my heart. You’re the ass 🫏
Old women in pastels are very aging .
Bright colors are also bad on women unless they want to stress their age.
👍
I am 76 and have never worn and will never wear jewel tones or navy. They are super unflattering. I have hazel eyes, blond brown hair (very little grey) and fair skin.
Why not give attention to ones eyes?
agreed!
If you watched the video, you would know.
no ripped jeans, leggins, shorts
