for a couple of years I opened the door with my Scream ghost costume, then the year of the series finale for Dexter, I made a great Dexter costume. After that I since we have so few trick or treaters in our neighborhood, stopped leaving my light on though I kept buying candy (for myself). The past two years I continue to leave the light off but now I can blame covid.

This probably isn't a prank exactly, but my 2016 costume made up a 1990s children's show to claim it was the inspiration for me growing up to have the job I have. I told people I got an autographed photo from the show when I was a kid (so I had to do a photo shoot), I faked a letter from 1992 to me (using the DOS font like it was done in WordPerfect), and I made a Wikipedia page for the show (it stayed up 4 months!). And I dressed up exactly how it was in the photo shoot (since, you know, I was the one in the photo shoot), which was very early 1990s color clashes (because that's how you know it's kids' TV) and had all the papers and photos with me, as though this had deep personal meaning to me. Since then, my boss keeps hoping I have an idea as good as that. I haven't.
As an INTP, I like the idea of Halloween and could watch in the window people being all happy and being fascinated, invested and interested in that but I'd probably not open the doors to anyone and if I planned on opening the door then I'd probably just make it as short as possible like if I had the sugars then just hand them over to them and if I don't, then just say I don't and excuse myself and yeah that's it. I don't always seek to be the deepest out there. Most of deep things I think of are really inside of my head and most of the time, I can rarely even be able to expose them to the outside world and when I do it's either through the virtual world or if I am comfortable enough in the space with people I judge can understand my language or if it's because I'm defending a cause or something.... but I may not be an INTP for real then. You never know

I have never been into traditions that made little sense to me. I question the validity of the whole trick or treating thing like Lili did lol just not in front of kids. I don't really want to interact with kids. Every Halloween, I turn off all the lights in my house and pretend there is no one home just like any other day.

Where I live, this kind of things doesnt happen (I mean knocking on my door and asking for candies ...). Truth be told, I thought no one here was celebrating Halloween by dressing up ... but I was recently told that yes, I just didn't know. I'm still a bit sure about the first statement though because it never happened to me. But if that happened, I would either be the type not to open the door at all (most likely to happen, I always do that), or the type to open it, especially if they insist and tell them I have no candy because I really don't celebrate that. But since it's children, I think I'll just say "I don't have any candy sorry" and I close my door. And I think it must be disturbing ?! Like how much time you get bothered?
