At last Her Majesty has reunited with her family, may She rest in peace forever.🕊🕊
Slainte Elliott i watched the livestream and as an Irish expat had tears in my eyes..more the so how well prince George and Princess Charlotte got through the day..my respect to their parents..
All my love and condolences to the people of Great Britain on the loss of your queen. May she rest in peace with her Philip, parents and sister. Especially those from my ancestral homes Chappel, Essex and Oldham, Lancashire. I'm proud to be English American.
maysherestnowinpeac👑andalleternalityatpeace.🐈👑😂.
I am a proud English American also, and I can trace my ancestry unbroken to mid 15th century Liverpool. I have it all documented.
@@loupgarou1261 That's awesome. I've traced my maternal grandmothers family to 1553. My ancestors from Chappell, Essex were Thomas and Anne Abbott. Their son George was a tailor in London when he came to America arriving in Boston and he was there and helped with the establishment of Watertown, MA. But, his descendents moved down to North and South Carolina. It's important to know our roots. With the state of the U.S. today makes me wish my ancestors never left. I may be moving to Scotland if the bigots take over this country.
Thank you for your condolences on the loss of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II
@@brendahollick9245 God Bless you ma'am.
I'm American and have loved the queen all my life. I still can't believe she's gone.
Same here....gonna take a LONG time to get used to hearing KING Charles.
Most people in Britain can't quite believe shes gone either its very surreal and will take a long time to realise.

I am British and an older lady, the Queen is all i have ever known, miss her and its hard to believe she is no longer here.
I am Indian but I love so much the Queen Elizabeth Thank you so much magistrate 70 years rest in peace Queen Elizabeth
I was so surprised when I came across the tiny memorial chapel within St George’s. It’s small, plain and quite humble. It was designed by the Queen so it tells you a lot about her. Now she’s just tucked up cozy with her parents, sister and husband.
I didn't know I could go there. Adding it to my next vacation to England.
@@TheRetirednavy92 Windsor is a fairly short train ride from London. When you come out of the train station you are pretty well right at the castle wall. You walk around the wall a bit and come to the entrance . Your ticket also takes you into the grounds, the Chapel and some rooms of Windsor Castle. It’s well worth a visit! I hope you get there.
Are you allowed to visit the memorial chapel when I visit Windsor Castle?
@@Yuhon100 Yes, the Memorial Chapel is along a side aisle within St George’s Chapel which is on the grounds of Windsor Castle. I was free to walk around the building - all through the sanctuary, the quire, by the altar and along the side aisles. When I was there it was quiet and I could spend as much time as I wanted in any area and there was no one else near the memorial chapel. It may be different now as more people will want to visit the grave of the Queen. Check before you go that the castle and church ( chapel) are open but do go if you can. It’s an easy trip from London.
@@sheilaenglish3293 Thank you for the information Sheila, I want to know where can I see Princess Margaret's tomb with her ashes in it, I did see Queen's parents name, Prince Philip, and I didn't see Margaret's name on the memorial plaque.
I'm so lucky to have seen the George VI Chapel from the outside during my visit to Windsor in 2018! Now, it has become Elizabeth II's and Philip's final resting place! It's like the five of them are having a reunion there.
I was there a few months ago (my first visit from America) without suspecting the Queen would be there at this date. I also feel fortunate to have seen it.
While still regal and and everything I have come to associate with her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II; I never thought I would see the pageantry of a royal funeral. As my only one was that of the late Princess Diana and I'm the age of HRH Prince William. My tears fall for all of the UK and the Commonwealth, her family, but more so for His Majesty King Charles III. During one of the hymns in St Georges Chapel there was a close up of him bloodshot eyes trying to hold back his tears where I knew it's not customary to touch the sovereign other than a handshake; but i saw a grieving son who within 18 months lost both his parents. I saw a man in need of comfort. I respect customs of other countries the world over but just a little love can change someone's day.
Long may he reign, God Save the King- King Charles III
Yes, right at the end of the national anthem he just looked like the loneliest man in the world, exhausted and alone with his thoughts despite the millions watching and family close by. I sincerely hope they all have the time and space to grieve and rest.
You thought that you, at age 40, would be outlived by a woman who was 96 years old? Why would you think that? Were you given some unfortunate medical diagnosis?
Barring that, you're likely to see another royal funeral when Charles dies. You may even outlive William.
@@margaretalbrecht4650 I knew the death of the Queen would eventually happen. She was very bless with what seemed very good health throughout her life. After the pandemic I definitely don't take life for granted. I've had 2 bouts of early stage cancer they caught in 2015 & '18. Where I moved to the competency of doctors is not high and for me to move to a location with the doctors I need would be a miracle. I have to go for a screening to see what the status is of that area to see if by the grace of God it has stayed in remission. I don't wish the ever to see the death of the current monarch or that of his son. Long lives to the both of them, myself and to you as well
@@khelisiesalvatore8173 God bless you. I hope and pray that your health remains good and you live a long, happy life like HM the Queen did. Along with Diana, Princess of Wales, I watched (on TV) the funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and it too was a grand affair. But not as grand as her daughter's yesterday.
As for the intense and understandable sadness of our King, he has his beloved Queen by his side, and a large extended family, and many friends, all of whom are allowed to touch him in the same ways they always have. I am sure that in private, our grieving royal family will find the comfort they need. The expressions of sympathy from people all over the world have been appreciated by the royal family. They and the people of the UK and Commonwealth will mourn and, over time, the pain will lessen, it always does. We were blessed to have known her as our Queen. She would be so proud of King Charles, and all her children.
So true!!! I am from another country India, and I was watching the whole funeral through my mobile.. The moment when Queen's casket was lowered down..I was filled with so much compassion for the royal family and UK people.I couldn't control my tears..i cried like a child 😭😭😭 I was feeling like as if I have lost my someone dear. Wonderful job Elliot. I learned things I didn’t know about the Royals. RIP Queen Elizabeth ll🌹
Been looking for a video like yours all over Y.T. to have more understanding how the queen was buried. Really appreciate your video was done in such detail manner. Thank you so much!
Thank you Elliot always for your delightful videos of information others don't report on.
It took me a while to find out that being buried and interment are the same thing , to be buried doesn't necessarily mean to be covered in soil, it refers to being interred underground as in your video so well done for your excellent presentation!
Thank you!
Internment means above ground like a niche or crypt. Burial is below ground.
Interment - noun
the burial of a corpse in a grave or tomb, typically with funeral rites.
"the day of interment"
@@Thunderbird-cs2cz ..Internment means to be imprisoned (I also made that mistake) Interment means to be buried ,so this confuses the explanation as it can be below ground 🤔 ....the burial of a corpse in a grave or tomb, typically with funeral rites (as Royal Reviewer quotes).
Burial means.. the act of placing a dead body in a grave or tomb. (not necessarily under the ground but in hm QEii case below ground).

That was very interesting. I didn’t know they were laid to rest like that. I always thought they had their own private royal cemetery. Thank you for explaining that.
They have that as well. It is near Frogmore House (which is not the same place as Frogmore Cottage.) Edward VIII and the Duchess of Windsor are buried there, along with many other family members. Also, some are buried at Sandringham, eg Prince John, youngest child of George V and Queen Mary.
Yes even i thought tha
The Royals do have their own Cemetery. But Princess Margaret who was cremated didn't care much for it !
Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson were indeed buried in Frogmore, but were treated as pariahs even in death. They were buried in a far plot away from the main graves.
My thoughts exactly...

Much thanks and appreciation for the Superb Video. 💜
Thank you again, for your video/presentation of the Chapel, beautifully well done, much respect.
To Note, RIP DEAR COUSIN QUEEN ELIZABETH II.
This is very well explained.
I always had no understanding of all of this until after I had visited El Escorial in Madrid to see the interment chambers for the Spanish monarchy. It is well preserved and if you ever get the chance, go see it. I doubt that we will ever get to the ones in Windsor Castle one day.
Also well worth a visit is the one beneath the Vatican City, Saint Pablo’s church where all the popes from as far back as it practically existed, are buried.
All fascinating stuff if you like this and are curious to know.
Thanks to you I am more aware.
Thank you so very much, Elliot! May Queen Elizabeth eternally be with her Prince Philip! 🙏
Thanking you Elliot, always with respect and knowledge, ❤🇬🇧
I was watching this thinking I know that voice! Thank you Elliot .... only today I was talking to my dad about the vault
I find it very fascinating.
The Daily Mail showed today that they are now all buried immediately under the marble stone in this individually built vault and on racking - nothing to do with the main vault which the Queen and Philip were brought up from last night . It is an individual crypt solely for George VI , The Queen mother , Princess Margaret (ashes) , Prince Philip and The Queen. All are now immediately under the slab and stonemasons will add the three extra names to the slab over the next few months of Philip , Margaret and Queen Elizabeth II
Thanks for sharing this video.....Very informative!
Thankyou Elliot, as always. 🇬🇧
Amazingly informative video .thank you so much for posting
Very informative, thank you !
thank you very much Elliot. Now that some time has passed I can come back and watch your video.
Wonderful video! Thank youa
I think the point of the memorial chapels is that those Monarchs aren't in the main vault, but instead are separate with their own immediate family. Otherwise there would be no need to bring them out of it after they are lowered in following the dedication in St George's Chapel.
Thank you, it worked and is a lovely video
Thank you for this video , it's so fascinating and what a beautiful , peaceful space .
Thank you for this video .
I was wondering how they would fit the Queen and Prince Philip's coffins into such a small space alongside George VI and the Queen Mother, but thanks for explaining. I didn't understand just how the Chapel was designed and how there's another vault underneath.
Apparently the Chapel can be visited again as of next week and the slab has already been updated.
My grandmother's coffin was the second to last of ten spaces stacked in the family vault. Nothing fancy. So, yes, it is possible to fit a number of coffins in a small space.
Looks CHEAP Tomb !!!
@@ziggystardust7888 Really..
@dwald channel I believe this family vault is now complete. Nobody further will be placed in it as there is nobody left to intern. All future Royals would presumably start there own, wherever it might be.
So are all four of them under that slab? I’m so confused.

Very fascinating video of The Vault.I NEVER heard about it until now. Thanks for educating me, I live in San Francisco but I visited London 3 times, all the places I am seeing on TV, Windsor Balmoral, Edinburg Scotland.Wonderful, historical places to visit.
Thank you for the timely video that explains and answers questions many of us have as to exactly where HM Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were interred yesterday. My remaining question is: WHO moves and positions the caskets of the Queen and Prince Philip into their final place of rest?
The bearer party. They had to go down into the Vault and take our Queen along to be with Philip, they were then brought up again later and taken into the final resting place. The brave bearer party had a long day!
The bearer party who carried our Queen that day
Sorry I repeated myself
Maybe you should do proper research, and understand your subject matter before posting a videos with so many lies in it. You are confusing the Royal vault with the George vi vault. There's no corridor to the George vi vault as it is directly under the black slab, about 2 metres below the slab, it's large enough to hold 6 coffins, that is all.
Rip your majesty. May you rest in peace knowing you did the best job that you could for 70 years

That's a fabulous description. Thank you. Your informative videos are so professional and well produced while maintaining a high standard of respectfulness. Will you provide some clarification, please. Is the area spacious enough that it can be descended into by a nominal number of persons handling and placing the coffin? Any idea why Princess Margaret's name and birth/death years have not been added to the slab?
@@petemclinc can you explain that, please.
@@petemclinc As the daughter of a monarch (King George VI), albeit having been born when her father was 'merely' Duke of York, Margaret was indeed Her Royal Highness.

1:18 This plan is NOT St. George's Chapel, Windsor, but, the Henry VII Chapel in Westminster Abbey in London.
You mentioned once lowered into George VI memorial chapel they will pass along a narrow corridor into the main vault. Can you tell me is that within the confines of the new memorial chapel foundation or a narrow corridor leading into the main foundations of the main chapel. I'm assuming it is within the confines of the memorial chapel only - which leads to my confusion - as the chapel is very small for any corridor beneath to lead anywhere. Consequently I'm guessing it is literally only a small space for only four coffins stacked one upon the over two on one side and and two on the other with the Queens sisters ashes having to be placed in her mothers coffin due to limited space. So can you clarify if the narrow corridor you mention leads beyond the confines of the memorial chapel or not, would really like to know and would be grateful if you can explain. Thank you.
The narrow corridor leads into the vault of the George Vl Memorial Chapel.
@@RoyalReviewer Thanks, sorry to be dumb, but I'm still unclear, a corridor from the main chapel or a corridor within the confines of the memorial chapel foot print? The memorial chapel is too small to have a corridor from what I can see in the photos. I get the impression the coffins are lowered into the vault via the removal of the stone plaque on the floor into a small room with the same proportion/floor space as the memorial chapel
@@davidtanycoed I think we're meant to not know. But there must be a separate corridor going to a small separate vault underneath, otherwise they would not have to have been brought back up. (At first I thought the vaults might have been connected underneath.) And yes, anyone who is down there would probably see the coffins of the residents already interred. BTW I heard there was actually room for six, so Charles and Camilla might wind up there as well.
@@bunnymomjulie6719 Thanks, that's what's causing confusion if there was a corridor leading from the main vault to the new memorial chapel why were they brought back up
@@davidtanycoed I think what he was saying is that when you go down into this little vault there is a narrow corridor leading to it
Very interesting and thanks for posting. One detail to note, Clipsham is in the country of Rutland and not Northants as stated.
Very interesting
Very helpful, not to be confused with the Albert Memorial chapel to the East (labelled as Lady Chapel on openstreetmap). Are there people down in the vaults to move coffins around, how do they get down there?
The Vault is like a crypt so of course there is people who can work down there .
I understand that, as well as the catafalque lift, there is access via a concealed staircase.
They live down there and never see daylight.... ;-)
Thanks for explaining… I still don’t really understand how all four caskets are going to fit in that small area… I guess underneath floor you mentioned there is still ample enough room
Most interesting.

Great video, but the layout that comes up at 1:18 is that of Westminster Abbey and not St. George’s Chapel.
Very informative. I didn’t get the best look of the chapel while I was there so it was awesome to see up close photos in this video.
I wonder if the chapel is full now given that it was designed for 3 monarchs plus spouses… or will King Charles III and his spouse go there.
Would be nice if it’s full so that it completes King George’s wish for his ‘us four’ to be together in peace. Well, ‘us four’ + Philip. But I’m sure the King won’t mind.

I remember my Grandmother telling me that when she was told of Queen Victoria's death, she cried.
Gran was just 5 yrs of age at the time. I lived 4 years under the reign of a King., but the rest of my life
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the beloved sovereign. My paternal grandparents were born/raised in Lancashire, England, & came to Canada in 1923. I'm very proud of my British heritage., & if you're wondering...yes, I did shed some tears when learning of Queen Elizabeth II's passing. Her Majesty is now enjoying the peace she so richly deserves.
@1:20 That's a map of the tombs at Westminster Abbey, not St. George's Chapel.
Some kind of a rough sketch about how this vault works would be helpful. If you're afraid that giving out details would breach the royal family's privacy, some simple lines should be enough.
I think the Chapel has its own vault under the black slab and there's stacking for the coffins down there, i.e. this Chapel goes deeper into the ground than you think. It also explains how they've fitted all four coffins down there because I was wondering.
The slab is removed and coffins are placed inside the small room underneath, on a basic frame which holds two coffins either side. Both coffins are one above the other. Margaret's ashes are in an urn set into a small hole in the wall at the head of the now four coffins.
@@Dog.Walker You are correct.
You’ve just read that off Wiki
🙏
I’m a little confused. So you said she and her husband are going to be interred in the king George sixth memorial chapel vault, but then you said that they pass along a narrow Corridor into the main vault. Is this main vault still the king George sixth Memorial Chapel or the royal vault?
Yeh my question too
My question also.
There is no connection between the King George VI Vault and the larger Royal Vault. There is no narrow corridor between them. The narrator probably means that the coffins lowered down from the altar pass through a narrow corridor into the larger Royal Vault. In the case of Elizabeth and Philip, they were temporarily placed in the larger Royal Vault. Then they were brought back up into the church and moved into the George VI Chapel vault. Then they were placed inside that vault with Elizabeth's parents and sister.
@@SymphonyBrahms thank you
so the black marble is only a "cover". Initially I've tought the marble was a closing door for a vertical cavity in which the coffins were "stacked up" with some sort of "George/Elizabeth Mother/Elizabeth II/Philip" order (from the bottom to the top). Now I understand, if I'm right, that the marble covers a/opens to an underground cavity/room in which every coffin has an own place (and, if I'm right again, there still are two place for Carlo and Camilla)
My question is how the coffins are manoeuvred into their final positions and how the extra shelving is added when required (unless it's already there). My guess is there's a concealed underground entrance not mentioned on the plans and there are people down there to arrange all of that.
I believe the description is incorrect. The Queen's body is lowered into the crypt area directly beneath the George IV Chapel, where it remains. It does not go off on a subsequent journey through another "narrow corridor" to another resting place elsewhere. That wouldn't even make sense.
I do think you might have acknowledged that about 98% of your text was lifted verbatim from the Wikipedia article about St. George's chapel.
Thanks for this fascinating explanation. But would someone have gone down the shaft under the black slab at the same time to move the new coffins along the narrow corridor into the right positions, or is that corridor accessed from some other entrance apart from the black slab?
There is no corridor. The King George VI burial vault is not connected in any way to the larger royal vault under the church. The only entrance is through the opening covered by the black inscribed slab.
@@SymphonyBrahms Thanks!
@@SymphonyBrahms Is that right? So how do they stack coffins if lowering from the top-centre and the offset, stacked shelving means you can't access lower levels and the coffins still need to be moved sideways? Margaret's ashes are recessed into the wall - how did those get there if lowered in from the top?
There must be a concealed service entrance not marked on the official plans, there has to be.
At 1:19 your map is actually Westminster Abbey, not St. George’s Chapel, Windsor
That chapel does not look big enough to hold two more coffins. All the photos I've seen are like the one here: the black slab, and the altar. What would the new layout be???
The coffins are stacked on top of each other.
@@SymphonyBrahms Yeah, later on I saw a drawing on another site of what it would look like. There's metal frames down there to hold the coffins, 2 and 2, and then a small space for the container of ashes.
