John, well done for persevering. I'm totally with you regarding the irresponsibility of some folk with the rubbish that has been discarded by the falls. Such a shame. Quite disheartening. Thanks for the images. 👍
Thanks Johnny! Yeh, it's not ideal. Those lower falls are great though and a lot less littered. I would have stayed a lot longer down there if I'd had the time. Planning to return later in autumn and will probably avoid the upper falls completely next time.
Gratifyingly, your calm endurance was rewarded with some very nice compositions. I have very much enjoyed your concentration, development and description of your compositions. Image 6 is quite interesting and shows a balance between the stones and the rather fragile trees/branches. The second half of the images are truly a highlight - absolutely favour Images 9 to 12 in that order. 10 abs. fav.. Really, really love these-you have already pointed out what makes them so valuable.I totally agree. So, despite the annoying rubbish congratulations of this finally worthwhile trip to Campsie Glen.. 🙂
Thank you! It's a lovely spot, shame about the litter. I thought it better to include this in the video and to highlight it rather than pretend it wasn't an issue .
totally agree with you, John these litter muppets make me sick to the bone - but we must rise above these bottom feeders - great work and very inspirational
Wonderful images John and love the effort you put in to achieve them . I was here 2 years ago and the mass of litter left by one-cell organisms was heart-breaking. I made quite an effort to clean it all up but it was a mammoth task I'm afraid, will never return.
Great photos John in a great location. Ive added this to my list. Have went before but never ventured far enough.to see this scene. Will take a bin bag with me 🙂
Hi John - I absolutely adored the images you got from your trip - brilliant compositions that precluded the rubbish (nearly) but which you expertly removed later. I settled down to watch the video and never anticipated the scenes of such litter and detritus being left around. It's such a shame when beautiful areas like this get treated with such disrespect. We have places here in the Peak District which have become so accessible (not a bad thing in itself) but which brings it's own problems. Carry on the great work John - absolutely love your post processing on your images - and don't let the activities of the few spoil your viewpoint.
Thank you! :) It's a shame about the litter but I'll be returning to that lower fall at some point soon, so it's not put me off completely. I need to explore the Peak District, it's an area I don't know particularly well despite having spent many years working in Manchester and Salford.
Nice captures John. Yep! Totally agree with the rubbish issue, although I didn’t notice when I was there as the water level was higher. Look forward to the next Vlog. 👍
Thanks! I'd watched your video the night before and hadn't noticed the litter so I think that's why it stood out so much. Yours was one of the two which convinced me to return. Great work!
Brilliant location and shots. Been up there a few times and it's lovely! Well it was when I went there. Terrible to see the litter - some idiots out there! Well done on shooting video and walking there - it's a tricky on the paths. The photos didn't come across as negative.
Despite the understandable negativity from the trash all the shots were awesome John, thank you. Loved image 11. I've only shot at the lower part of the glen and was planning to go to this location at some point, so thanks for the warning about the mindless littering which like you makes me mad.
A great location ruined, just seems to be the norm now with anywhere that gets publicised on social media. You done well to capture some good images, the lower falls were my go to due to the amount of litter everywhere.
Well worth the perseverance and the short trip down to the lower falls - the images are awesome - the landscape image next but last before the swimmers joined you, is my fave image of your trip.. I've seen quite a few you tube videos of the Campsie Falls over the years and its also relatively close to my home too - unfortunately your recent experience also reflects what was shown on the videos and is what put me off going there - the selfishness of some individuals is heartbreaking and it seems the easier access the general public has to these beautiful places the more dreadful the condition they leave them in. That said - your experience and your images of the lower falls might tempt me to take a trip to see if I can capture a few shots - great work as always John.
Thanks Kev! Yeh, I agree there seems to be some correlation between ease of access and the level of litter, which is a pity. It's definitely worth a trip though, especially to those lower falls. Hope you get some great shots!
Great video I Visited last weekend only got lower fall as it was a scorcher and top pool full. I noted the litter here too as well as at loupe of fintry and Finnich glen. So disappointing as they are superb locations.
I really must take a trip to the Glen, you got some cracking shots, as to the rubbish all over the place, hung drawn and quartered would be to good for them! This is becoming all to common since lockdown, everything seems to have gone to pot.
Thanks Douglas! Yeh, I agree, shocking condition. those lower falls are a lot cleaner though so head there if you go up. It is worth a detour to the top falls, even if it's just to see the scale of the problem for yourself. I didn't attempt the third cascade, not sure how easy that is to access, but I'll definitely be back when the autumn colours set in
I was there just the other week and met a UA-camr, Cliff Hands, there. Have to say, the litter wasn't an issue then. I had the same issues with getting a composition on the top pool. Always good to see how others photograph the same locations. Nice work.
Yes, I'm not overly happy with the images from the top falls, haven't enough in the foreground. Pretty happy with the bottom falls. Got to get back.....@@JohnMcKennaPhotography
Great video John from a place that has always been one of my favourite locations, but I've never managed to catch that top fall with enough water, and there had never been a nice rope to get down to the lower falls - which does look so much better than the top. I don't remember seeing so much rubbish either. Maybe becaus ethe last time I was up at the "car park in the sky" it was early spring.
Thanks! Yeh, the last time I'd been was in January and it was snowing, so I never noticed any litter either. Think that's why I noticed it, I really wasn't expecting it to be so bad
I loved campsie glen when I visited a couple of years ago to take photos. I came away with a carrier bag of rubbish sadly, and got chased away by midges where I came a little too late in the day and at the wrong part of the season. However, there is a third waterfall a little further up that I also found, and apparently at the bottom of the glen there are more (I aim to come back to search for those.) I do hope you get a chance to go back and find the others. Sadly its such an accessible area, that it will always be a hang out for young and thoughtless yobs who dont actually care about keeping these sights clear of crap for others to enjoy as they do.
it's a lovely spot but definitely a little too accessible. I'm hoping to pop back in the next month or so (my guess is it'll be quieter) so I'll see if I can find any of the other falls. Thanks for the info!
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography yeah defo worth a visit ...the bottom falls can be easily reached heading down the right hand side of the river paat a row of cottages ...and then work your way bk up the other side where there is a lovely set of falls looking onto a cottage
There'd be a simple way of stopping the litter problem. Just let the bus go straight past the end of the glen without stopping. neds can't be bothered walking 400 yds up the road to the clachan. Unfortunately the bus drivers use the village as a rest spot. Lower Falls ? Those ones are further up the glen .. or was that intentional misdirection as your opinion of your fellow man had dropped so low. I'd return in late autumn when there's a lot more water and generally less crap left around. There's some classic waterfalls up Fin Glen that are within easy walking distance of the clachan that are thankfully ned free.
My last visit was in the snow, and that must have covered a lot of sins as I didn't realise how much of a problem it had become. Yeh, these are the upper falls, but, I meant the "lower" of the falls that I'd pointed out on my arrival, if that makes sense?! In my experience the lower falls are far worse as they're more accessible! I never go there.
he images were superb. The numpties that discard their items should be sorted out. It would be enough to make me think twice about bothering to take photos.
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography I suspect they may plant a glass or something in other areas such as a person's anatomy. I am lucky I live down south these days so somewhat immune. People have become used to other picking up their mess.

Excellent John. Loved the images. Just so sad that these litter louts are everywhere.
Thanks Jim. Aye, disgraceful. Still worth a visit though!
