My pro sounds like a rocket ship taking off. Sony seems to follow timelines. If that’s the case ps6 should be about 2026 or 2027. I will wait. By then the pssr system will be better they will have a better GPu. This tech is too new for the cost of it. Ps4 wasn’t 1057 here in Canada. I got mine for 499.99.
@reddeaddylan1606 I grabbed some Arctic thermal paste after about 2 years after mine sounded like a jet engine, there's some good videos on UA-cam showing you how to disassemble the PS4 Pro and apply it. Adjusted for today's money the PS3 was about a thousand or more
😂 I got 10 TB on my PS5 pro 4TB M.2 SSD (Samsung 990 pro) and 4TB Samsung T7 SSD for PS4 games. It's overkill but it was necessary, I do a lot of remote playing, I went digital ever since the PS4 Pro.
It is worth it if you can afford it. I know it’s getting backlash because of how expensive it is but I can tell you right now this thing is very powerful! I tested some games and compared them to my Series X and it’s just day and night difference. Again, this is my experience and I don’t know how you gonna feel about it.

I finished GOW:R on the Pro and the only thing more beautiful than the story, were the graphics. Playing at 4k with reflections on and 60fps truly feels like a premium experience when you’re cracking Nordic skulls.

I was a big advocate prior to release. The night I got it set up I felt a bit underwhelmed by it. However, a few more days with my Pro and I'm glad I bought it. It's a perfect pairing for my 77" C2, which, coincidentally, was almost 4x the cost of the Pro. 🤷🏻♂️
I had the exact same experience. It’s really weird. First night was like,”… okay, it looks a little better,” but then this past weekend the more I gamed the more I started realizing just how good it is.

I mean, I remember when I was 16 and knew everything, but it turns out if i wanted a PC I would've bought a damn PC. Got a 5 Pro at launch, really enjoying it so far from the expanded storage (plus my 1TB SSD) to how much faster everything runs, to not having to think about fidelity vs performance when you get both. And yes, I have a gaming pc and streaming pc and no , I didn’t pay for the pro, trade it credit for my Xbox series x, switch and launch ps5 covered it more than enough. Solid vid Reforge.
Decided to give Stellar Blade a go since it's Pro enhanced. My jaw was on the floor with how beautiful that game looked running at 120 fps with HDR turned on. If that's the kind of performance and Fidelity I can expect out of games moving forward, then my PS5 pro was definitely worth the cost
I’m glad you’re giving it a shot. TBH the game looked Stellar on the base PS5 but it absolutely looks better on the pro. I think the normal pro mode is better than pro max for some reason, just a heads up. Saw a video on it.
I can tell you my opinion,I did play few games.. and not that much difference.. but some games like The First Descendant it's absolutely massive... I think it depends on Devs a lot... but for the 46%. biger gpu and 2T. storage... that alone is massive!
I never considered a storage upgrade, it’s such a game changer with the Pro being able to not pick and choose which 4-6 games I want downloaded. It’s so nice just not caring and downloading 10-15 without worry.
Yes it is! The city areas are kinda choppy because the CPU is the bottleneck there with all of the NPCs, not the GPU. However, running around elsewhere is a solid 60fps and that's where you spend most of your time playing this game.
I'm in the very unique situation where I last played base PS4 in 2018. Did some light PC gaming until 2021, mostly easy to run multiplayer games with friends. Past 3 years I've been in college and no real free time for gaming. I never played any PS first party titles outside of Spiderman and RDR2 on PC. Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon, God of War and any game in the last 3 years (Cyberpunk, Jedi Survivor, Elden Ring etc) I haven't even played. Finished my degree and have the money for a PS5 Pro (and a suitable 4K TV setup) so really looking forward to catching up with all these games in 4k mostly 60fps.
Titanfall 2. Definitely play at least an hr. Im a fps hater but this game is good. It may get glitchy towards the end but for the love of gaming try this game.
As someone who owns a beefy PC I’ve drifted away from my PS5. A lot of the games I play, even “good looking” ones like TLOU2 look “ok” compared to how GOOD games look on my PC. The PS5 Pro with PSSR brings PC quality visuals. I don’t have to wait for Stellar Blade to come to PC because it looks great on the Pro now with PSSR.Now I don’t have to buy TLOU on PC. I can replay Demon’s Souls, HFW and Ragnarok and not buy them on PC. For enthusiasts like myself who love the sharpness DLSS provides, PSSR is a comfortable second. Love that I’m playing games on console again without having to rebuy on PC. Also the 2tb alone is awesome
I bought a discdrive for $280 I'm now thinking i should have kept my money added another $300 and purchase a 4tb ssd . What do you think would be the best choice. What would be the pros and cons of buying either? 👍 Great channel looking forward to the growth with the ps5 pro evolution.
It is worth it. I tried final fantasy 12 my all time favorite game and on I have used over the years as a benchmark test and when it came on with boost I was like wow.

Playing my favorites on the Pro is like playing them for the first time again. I can't wait to play Yotei and Borderlands 4 next year and hopefully devs tap into the extra power.
I got the Pro from GameStop last Thursday and have been enjoying the upgrade from base PS5. Been playing Dragons Dogma 2 nonstop and can clearly see the difference the pro gives it. Can't wait to see how this will be utilized even more in the future.
It’s going to take a miracle well beyond the PS5 Pro to make me want to play Veilguard. However, I do have the PS5 Pro, and I’m definitely noticing the improvements in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
If your TV can only do hdmi 2.0 / 4k 60hz - probably best to invest in a new TV first. I was initially disappointed when I hooked up to an old 4k TV as I had to get close to TV to see the pro graphics improvements -- hooked up to a 2.1 hdmi TV and my disappointment was quickly withdrawn

That's a little heavy footed/misleading. I'm running the Pro on a 2018 Sony OLED without VRR and it runs beautifully and looks incredible. Noticeably better than the standard PS5. 60fps is perfectly, perfectly fine for 99% of gamers. For good reason.
I have enjoyed the ps5 pro. My backlog might now be completed. Ff7 rebirth, dragons dogma 2, alan wake 2, star wars outlaws, hogwarts legacy has been sitting on the shelf because of the blurry visuals. This system has really cleaned them up
I have the Pro. It is the single most interesting and hard to pin down value proposition in traditional console gaming history, because there is no one thing you can pin your value from. If PSSR is utilized, such as in Rebirth, the graphical value proposition is so obvious that this wouldnt be a debate. In this instance, it is better than what the PS4 Pro brought to the table. But that is only one game, and other games that implemented it did so to various effect - from not at all of a benefit, to absolutely yes give me more. The raw performance boosts to other games can be minimal, but in games like FF16 we can now use performance mode on a VRR display to full effect. The 2TB drive is one of those sneaky value adds, simply because you dont really realize how much you need that extra space unless you owned the OG and never added an extra drive (or have been using a USB drive). Wayyyy too many times I was moving games, and redownloading them - which became harder when I moved my PS5 to my office, which didnt have the best connection to the wifi. And that is when you have to consider...oh damn, I still dont have that disc drive, which I need for a portion of my library. For me, it is at bare minimum, a break even value (meaning I am not overpaying for the features I am getting - but not getting the traditional console premium value over equivalent PC components). If they can get PSSR to work on more games, including VR titles (which will benefit FAR more than games on a flat screen), this the Pro will end up being a slam dunk.
It’s absolutely worth it. Every big game going forward will be Pro enhanced. There’s already near 100 games enhanced. Some of them being new games like COD, assassin’s creed, and the new Metal Gear Solid.
worth it if you have money to blow, need to brag about having the newest tech and dont already have a base ps5. Got the Pro and am returning and keeping my ps5 slim. Already have an s90D oled wich is what you should get before upgrading to a pro.
The funny thing about the PS5 Pro is I see the most forced and contrived critiques I've ever seen in my life for a piece of hardware. All the way from price to "who cares about graphics" to blatant misunderstanding of what you're even supposed to get from this device. One of the top comments on another channel was literally "I don't think gaming should look any better"... if that's how you feel then you have other options lol. PlayStation is literally about high end console gaming, don't even look in this direction if you want cheap and low fidelity.
As a PS5 owner who mainly plays on PC, i personally feel like the upgrade is worth it, but now it's not the time to make the jump yet, not until we get some new first party console exclusives.
The time to jump is absolutely now, BEFORE the new games. For one, to keep busy, two, to appreciate and understand the differences, and three, to be excited for the new games to come. You need a reference point, and this is why you want the Pro before the new games. The fact that it can take the old games, remasters and remakes play and look awesome, just makes you envision how those new games will turn out. Plus the devs will have an easier time to produce those games to us. People have so many gaming backlogs, how some can sit there and complain about no new exclusive or games is ridiculous to me. To me, that's being wasteful and ungrateful.
I totally get the kid on Christmas energy. Aside from the Pro enhanced titles I checked out games with no patch but that had dynamic resolution like Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 Enhanced, Remnant 2, Metro Expdus, Resident Evil 2, 3, 7, Sniper Elite 5, and others and the Pro is able to hit the top end of the resolution spectrum making those games look even better than before and it is noticable. On top of that the Enhance PS4 Games setting works wonders on some games like Bloodborne, Evil Within, Arkham Knight, Sleeping Dogs, Mad Max, and more. I can definitely relate to not knowing what to play or to starting to play one game and thinking about others. The usual ‘new hardware so let’s see how everything looks’ obligatory period. Lol. I did come away a lot more impressed than I thought I would be going into the Pro. And with how poor games are looking on base more and more, and with how rough Monster Hunter Wilds looks especially on base consoles, I’m excited for upcoming games that I was previously worried about. People will of course be fine with a base console, but for anyone that can swing it and may be on the fence, go for it. With console exclusive games like Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, GTA 6, Wolverine, and more coming soon, you’ll be in a great spot.
It’s hard describing how good Rachet and Clank looks. If you have a TV with 120 hz then it’s simply incredible. I have a Sony X90J. Stellar Blade does look better. It’s not to a mind blowing extent, but it does look better. PS4 games absolutely DO look better than you could have imagined. It’s really wild.
I think it’s definitely worth it. I also 100% agree that it isn’t for everyone. But I ALSO agree that it will be more and more desirable as more games come out utilizing its strengths.
I'm loving my PS5 Pro, even though I haven't gotten to play on it extensively. Since, I'm on a playthrough of Dragon Age Veilguard on my xbox. Once I'm done with that I will do my second playthrough on the Pro. Great video as always Lono. I always appreciate the content.
So far I'm loving PS5 Pro. I've been mostly playing The Crew Motorfest, that game looks amazing and runs very smoothly. Glad I waited to check it out on the Pro. Also played Jedi Survivor for a while, not very impressed with that one, since the details in the distance look unstable in the performance mode. Chcked out Horizon and it is absolutely impressive, I never played the DLC for Forbidden West, so the Pro is a good excuse to go back to it. I also want to do a replay of FFXVI, another one where I just missed the DLC, and Stellar Blade, a new playthrough with the upcoming Nier DLC will be sweet.
Can anyone explain why this costs $699 (which equates to around £540 ) in the states and £699 in England. I really want one but im struggling with that one.😮

Not only the starting price is insanely high, but you will keep paying extra every month if you want the ability to play online using your own internet and from full price games. Build yourself a PC, it's way cheaper and you get to do everything a PS5 Pro can do and way more
That iphone comparison you made, isn't it a bit wrong to use here? I mean, a base iphone and a pro-max are available together, on Day-1, no? So, upgrading from older phone to new, you make a decision whether to get base model, or a pro-max. In case of PS, you, like sooo many others, upgraded from PS4 (whatever model you had) to a PS5. You already spent your 500$ + taxes. Now, you're getting a PS5 pro, spending an additional 700$ + taxes. So, it's a different scenario....
Bought the Pro on Friday, downloaded my PS5 & PS4 games, played them, reset to factory settings and returned the following morning. absolutely not worth the extra money, stick with the base PS5

The extra space is nice but I’m already using a 4TB SSD 💀 this console is for the people who want the best of the best 4K 60fps almost always sometimes it goes up and down most games I tried ran a little better if not perfect
I’d say it’s worth it “if”. Now that “if” could be a variety of reasons, but if it resonates with you then buy it. If it doesn’t then don’t. It’s pretty simple. With that said: I went over my friend’s house with my og PS5. We brought his oled from the bedroom and placed them side by side to compare. From the games that we were able to compare, I came to the conclusion that I really do not need to buy the pro. The jump just isn’t that profound to me. Now that might not be true for the next person. However, for me, it just wasn’t worth it.

I don’t think it’s worth it unless you can trade in your PS5 and get the new one for like $200. The improvements are so small that they’re hard to notice. If you put the PS5 and Pro side by side during actual gameplay you wouldn’t really be able to tell the difference in the vast majority of cases. UA-cam compression and all that but I did watch DF’s videos on my 4K TV with the video’s resolution set to 4K. This is a smaller jump than PS4 - PS4 Pro. The PS5 already tries to hit 4K. The Pro still doesn’t hit native 4K with 60fps. I don’t see much appeal here beyond the typical hype that follows a new PlayStation console. A “Pro” console should be loaded with pro features like a disc drive, a vertical stand and IMO it should even come with the DualSense Edge controller. The 2TB SSD is really nice though. The biggest problems here are that the CPU is unchanged. CPU bound games are going to see no benefit at all. It’s the bottleneck here and it’s what’s holding certain games back from hitting a locked 60fps or even higher framerates. Secondly, the PS6 will make this machine irrelevant as soon as it releases. With a similar PC you’ll be able to keep playing new games in the future by turning your settings down. With the PS5 Pro you are never playing PS6 games. So that’s another $500+ purchase that is inevitably coming. So the Pro isn’t even future proof despite its strengths. You’re going to have to completely replace it. I feel like console enthusiasts don’t really keep track or bother to care about how much money they’re actually spending between mid gen refreshes, PS plus, full price games and then the inevitable next gen purchase. Both console and mid-high end PC players are spending a lot of money but console players seem to have convinced themselves that they’re not. If you’re new to consoles you are better off saving money and getting the base PS5 which gives near indistinguishable graphics and performance and for less money. It feels like this console mostly exists for Sony to lay the groundwork for the PS6 with PSSR. If you’re willing to shell out $700 for gains that are this small then you’d probably be fine with putting down a couple hundred more to get a PC with some much more noticeable improvements.
It's worth it if you own your own apartment or house and have both a living room and a bedroom. I've now got the base PS5 on my bedroom 4DLP 4K projector, and the Pro on my living room 75" Mini-LED TV. Now I can play PS5 games in both rooms without having to move the console. As for improvements, there are huge framerate and frame pacing improvements on the Pro, in addition to being able to play on Quality modes with Performance-like framerates. Huge difference. I used to own a PS4 Pro, and this is a bigger upgrade than the PS4 Pro was. A lot of games that were unplayable on the PS5 are now finally well above the minimum VRR framerate.
If I kept my fat PS5 I would have needed to spend $ to upgrade the SSD, so I sold it and bought a PS5 Pro. Decent upgrade for a few hundred bucks... would have been nice if it had a bit more horsepower but it's still pretty noticeable.
Hell yeah it's worth it because the PlayStation exclusives that come out are going to be just as good as horizon and stellar blade and that s***'s fire

If you have an eye for graphical upgrades and your main console is ps5 it’s 100% worth it. But then I remember how many people out there literally don’t know the difference between 30fps and 60 fps so ya…. It’s definitely not for everyone and I understand the other camp that says it’s not worth it and they can’t tell the difference looking at side by side comparisons. I have over 100 games in my PlayStation collection and 100% of those games are digital copies so it’s like the ps5 pro was made for people like me
The cpu same as base ps5. Reminds me of the Xbox one x when it came out on paper powerful but cpu same jaguar cpu as base Xbox one. Games will suffer in frame in games cpu power games.
no bro, there's no justification, is it a good console? yes, can it be the most potent, yes, but as of today standards price/performance, its is a full no, 700 is too expensive for what it really offers, and theres simply no logical explanation or justification for the excessive high scamming-price if i go and simply put 6.7 tflops to the original 2070, its not gonna make it a monster or much less a ''modern behemot of gaming'', it will be more powerfull, but still obsolete compared to more modern hardware (30xx and 40xx series), which will kick his ass badly still with and old zen2 from back 2018 (around 8th gen intel gpus, which, by the way, microsoft considered too old and obsolete to even run win11, same with amd's 2018's proccessors) still too old to think a 10% overclock will take it to the next-gen gaming actual up to date to modern cpus (and dont perform bottlenecks on cpu-intensive games) when you receive basically only a better upscale and upgrade to raytracing, lets call them pssr1.0 and raytracing 2.0 you should pay just for that, not for whatever sony wanna magicaly charge for them
The ps5 pro is the only reason to buy a next generation machine before the pro I could not justify buying one as there wasn't one game that impressed me with the pro I can see so much growth in it's customisation that next year the XBOX will become redundant. The base ps5 is still $700-$800 the 30% rise in price is close to percentage of upgrade from the base ps5 to the pro ? Happy Gaming 👍
@@SCAGMONKY no, i dunno where did you think ps5-pro is a next gen machine, it was in his day (ps5), but today it isnt, and sony stated very clearly that the ps5-pro doesnt have ANY next-gen upgrade, its just adjusted visuals and better performance, not a jump in technology and ps5 is 400 dollars, with disc reader and vertical stand, or 450 dollar packs with game included, ps5 pro is 950 dollars just with the vertical stand and the disc reader, from 400 to 950 is an 135% increase in prize, not 30%, you are paying 2 full ps5 fat, and a lil extra, which, again, for just an overal 45% increase in performance is not kinda accurate in price

No its not worth it... $700 and no disk drive or stand included. The ps5 pro doesnt graphically look better than the base ps5 unless you have them sid by side zoomed in 300x. Games are better with hardware limitations because devs have to work around limitations, thats why all the best games were made 15+ years ago.
Yep. The pro is not for most people at this point. Maybe in the future they will release an actual new game. Until then I couldn’t care less about playing games I’v already experienced.
That’s just not factual. The graphics are better. Frame rates are good and exceed 60fps in some cases. You can see all this with the naked eye. You basically watched a few UA-cam videos and came to this conclusion. You see the difference when you’re playing it right in front of you on a nice big screen.
It depends. It's worth it if you are a hard-core console gamer and do not care about its downsides (online subscriptions and their rapidly growing prices year by year, not having the same flexibility as a PC, no mods, ect). Most PC players probably would rather pay extra or have slightly weaker rigs rather than downgrade to a console. While more casual players would rather just get the base PS5 because it's cheaper and they don't much care/see the improvements of the pro.
You know we are being price gouged out of our mind with the ps5 pro when you cant go to a gamestop trade in 2 current gen consoles and be able to pay off the ps5 pro, if i was to trade in my ps5 ($275)and series x($285), total comes out to $560.....PS5 Pro is worth it if it costs $500 not enough of a upgrade for $700

That is where Sony crossed the line. 900$-1000$ is a territory of Decent Desktop PC's that will offer far more powerful CPU. Also it will offer GPU's like 4070 or upcoming 5060 that are generations ahead in technology like DLSS, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation. So 900$ is a dangerous price for a console. Especially in 2025 when RTX 5000 and RX8000 launches

I finished GOW:R on the Pro and the only thing more beautiful than the story, were the graphics. Playing at 4k with reflections on and 60fps truly feels like a premium experience when you’re cracking Nordic skulls.

I was a big advocate prior to release. The night I got it set up I felt a bit underwhelmed by it. However, a few more days with my Pro and I'm glad I bought it. It's a perfect pairing for my 77" C2, which, coincidentally, was almost 4x the cost of the Pro. 🤷🏻♂️

Got a 5 Pro at launch, really enjoying it so far from the expanded storage (plus my 1TB SSD) to how much faster everything runs, to not having to think about fidelity vs performance when you get both.
And yes, I have a gaming pc and streaming pc and no , I didn’t pay for the pro, trade it credit for my Xbox series x, switch and launch ps5 covered it more than enough.

Decided to give Stellar Blade a go since it's Pro enhanced. My jaw was on the floor with how beautiful that game looked running at 120 fps with HDR turned on. If that's the kind of performance and Fidelity I can expect out of games moving forward, then my PS5 pro was definitely worth the cost

I can tell you my opinion,I did play few games.. and not that much difference.. but some games like The First Descendant it's absolutely massive... I think it depends on Devs a lot... but for the 46%. biger gpu and 2T. storage... that alone is massive!
I never considered a storage upgrade, it’s such a game changer with the Pro being able to not pick and choose which 4-6 games I want downloaded. It’s so nice just not caring and downloading 10-15 without worry.

Yes it is! The city areas are kinda choppy because the CPU is the bottleneck there with all of the NPCs, not the GPU. However, running around elsewhere is a solid 60fps and that's where you spend most of your time playing this game.
I'm in the very unique situation where I last played base PS4 in 2018. Did some light PC gaming until 2021, mostly easy to run multiplayer games with friends. Past 3 years I've been in college and no real free time for gaming. I never played any PS first party titles outside of Spiderman and RDR2 on PC. Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon, God of War and any game in the last 3 years (Cyberpunk, Jedi Survivor, Elden Ring etc) I haven't even played. Finished my degree and have the money for a PS5 Pro (and a suitable 4K TV setup) so really looking forward to catching up with all these games in 4k mostly 60fps.

As someone who owns a beefy PC I’ve drifted away from my PS5. A lot of the games I play, even “good looking” ones like TLOU2 look “ok” compared to how GOOD games look on my PC. The PS5 Pro with PSSR brings PC quality visuals. I don’t have to wait for Stellar Blade to come to PC because it looks great on the Pro now with PSSR.Now I don’t have to buy TLOU on PC. I can replay Demon’s Souls, HFW and Ragnarok and not buy them on PC. For enthusiasts like myself who love the sharpness DLSS provides, PSSR is a comfortable second. Love that I’m playing games on console again without having to rebuy on PC. Also the 2tb alone is awesome

I got the Pro from GameStop last Thursday and have been enjoying the upgrade from base PS5. Been playing Dragons Dogma 2 nonstop and can clearly see the difference the pro gives it. Can't wait to see how this will be utilized even more in the future.

It’s going to take a miracle well beyond the PS5 Pro to make me want to play Veilguard. However, I do have the PS5 Pro, and I’m definitely noticing the improvements in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
If your TV can only do hdmi 2.0 / 4k 60hz - probably best to invest in a new TV first.
I was initially disappointed when I hooked up to an old 4k TV as I had to get close to TV to see the pro graphics improvements -- hooked up to a 2.1 hdmi TV and my disappointment was quickly withdrawn

That's a little heavy footed/misleading. I'm running the Pro on a 2018 Sony OLED without VRR and it runs beautifully and looks incredible. Noticeably better than the standard PS5. 60fps is perfectly, perfectly fine for 99% of gamers. For good reason.

I have enjoyed the ps5 pro. My backlog might now be completed. Ff7 rebirth, dragons dogma 2, alan wake 2, star wars outlaws, hogwarts legacy has been sitting on the shelf because of the blurry visuals. This system has really cleaned them up
I have the Pro. It is the single most interesting and hard to pin down value proposition in traditional console gaming history, because there is no one thing you can pin your value from.
If PSSR is utilized, such as in Rebirth, the graphical value proposition is so obvious that this wouldnt be a debate. In this instance, it is better than what the PS4 Pro brought to the table. But that is only one game, and other games that implemented it did so to various effect - from not at all of a benefit, to absolutely yes give me more.
The raw performance boosts to other games can be minimal, but in games like FF16 we can now use performance mode on a VRR display to full effect.
The 2TB drive is one of those sneaky value adds, simply because you dont really realize how much you need that extra space unless you owned the OG and never added an extra drive (or have been using a USB drive). Wayyyy too many times I was moving games, and redownloading them - which became harder when I moved my PS5 to my office, which didnt have the best connection to the wifi.
And that is when you have to consider...oh damn, I still dont have that disc drive, which I need for a portion of my library.
For me, it is at bare minimum, a break even value (meaning I am not overpaying for the features I am getting - but not getting the traditional console premium value over equivalent PC components). If they can get PSSR to work on more games, including VR titles (which will benefit FAR more than games on a flat screen), this the Pro will end up being a slam dunk.
It’s absolutely worth it. Every big game going forward will be Pro enhanced. There’s already near 100 games enhanced. Some of them being new games like COD, assassin’s creed, and the new Metal Gear Solid.

The funny thing about the PS5 Pro is I see the most forced and contrived critiques I've ever seen in my life for a piece of hardware. All the way from price to "who cares about graphics" to blatant misunderstanding of what you're even supposed to get from this device.
One of the top comments on another channel was literally "I don't think gaming should look any better"... if that's how you feel then you have other options lol. PlayStation is literally about high end console gaming, don't even look in this direction if you want cheap and low fidelity.

As a PS5 owner who mainly plays on PC, i personally feel like the upgrade is worth it, but now it's not the time to make the jump yet, not until we get some new first party console exclusives.

The time to jump is absolutely now, BEFORE the new games. For one, to keep busy, two, to appreciate and understand the differences, and three, to be excited for the new games to come. You need a reference point, and this is why you want the Pro before the new games. The fact that it can take the old games, remasters and remakes play and look awesome, just makes you envision how those new games will turn out. Plus the devs will have an easier time to produce those games to us. People have so many gaming backlogs, how some can sit there and complain about no new exclusive or games is ridiculous to me. To me, that's being wasteful and ungrateful.

I totally get the kid on Christmas energy. Aside from the Pro enhanced titles I checked out games with no patch but that had dynamic resolution like Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 Enhanced, Remnant 2, Metro Expdus, Resident Evil 2, 3, 7, Sniper Elite 5, and others and the Pro is able to hit the top end of the resolution spectrum making those games look even better than before and it is noticable. On top of that the Enhance PS4 Games setting works wonders on some games like Bloodborne, Evil Within, Arkham Knight, Sleeping Dogs, Mad Max, and more. I can definitely relate to not knowing what to play or to starting to play one game and thinking about others. The usual ‘new hardware so let’s see how everything looks’ obligatory period. Lol. I did come away a lot more impressed than I thought I would be going into the Pro. And with how poor games are looking on base more and more, and with how rough Monster Hunter Wilds looks especially on base consoles, I’m excited for upcoming games that I was previously worried about. People will of course be fine with a base console, but for anyone that can swing it and may be on the fence, go for it. With console exclusive games like Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, GTA 6, Wolverine, and more coming soon, you’ll be in a great spot.

It’s hard describing how good Rachet and Clank looks. If you have a TV with 120 hz then it’s simply incredible. I have a Sony X90J. Stellar Blade does look better. It’s not to a mind blowing extent, but it does look better. PS4 games absolutely DO look better than you could have imagined. It’s really wild.

I'm loving my PS5 Pro, even though I haven't gotten to play on it extensively. Since, I'm on a playthrough of Dragon Age Veilguard on my xbox. Once I'm done with that I will do my second playthrough on the Pro. Great video as always Lono. I always appreciate the content.

So far I'm loving PS5 Pro. I've been mostly playing The Crew Motorfest, that game looks amazing and runs very smoothly. Glad I waited to check it out on the Pro. Also played Jedi Survivor for a while, not very impressed with that one, since the details in the distance look unstable in the performance mode. Chcked out Horizon and it is absolutely impressive, I never played the DLC for Forbidden West, so the Pro is a good excuse to go back to it. I also want to do a replay of FFXVI, another one where I just missed the DLC, and Stellar Blade, a new playthrough with the upcoming Nier DLC will be sweet.
Can anyone explain why this costs $699 (which equates to around £540 ) in the states and £699 in England. I really want one but im struggling with that one.😮

In case of PS, you, like sooo many others, upgraded from PS4 (whatever model you had) to a PS5. You already spent your 500$ + taxes. Now, you're getting a PS5 pro, spending an additional 700$ + taxes. So, it's a different scenario....

I’d say it’s worth it “if”. Now that “if” could be a variety of reasons, but if it resonates with you then buy it. If it doesn’t then don’t. It’s pretty simple. With that said: I went over my friend’s house with my og PS5. We brought his oled from the bedroom and placed them side by side to compare. From the games that we were able to compare, I came to the conclusion that I really do not need to buy the pro. The jump just isn’t that profound to me. Now that might not be true for the next person. However, for me, it just wasn’t worth it.

I don’t think it’s worth it unless you can trade in your PS5 and get the new one for like $200. The improvements are so small that they’re hard to notice. If you put the PS5 and Pro side by side during actual gameplay you wouldn’t really be able to tell the difference in the vast majority of cases. UA-cam compression and all that but I did watch DF’s videos on my 4K TV with the video’s resolution set to 4K. This is a smaller jump than PS4 - PS4 Pro. The PS5 already tries to hit 4K. The Pro still doesn’t hit native 4K with 60fps.
I don’t see much appeal here beyond the typical hype that follows a new PlayStation console. A “Pro” console should be loaded with pro features like a disc drive, a vertical stand and IMO it should even come with the DualSense Edge controller. The 2TB SSD is really nice though.
The biggest problems here are that the CPU is unchanged. CPU bound games are going to see no benefit at all. It’s the bottleneck here and it’s what’s holding certain games back from hitting a locked 60fps or even higher framerates. Secondly, the PS6 will make this machine irrelevant as soon as it releases. With a similar PC you’ll be able to keep playing new games in the future by turning your settings down. With the PS5 Pro you are never playing PS6 games. So that’s another $500+ purchase that is inevitably coming. So the Pro isn’t even future proof despite its strengths. You’re going to have to completely replace it.
I feel like console enthusiasts don’t really keep track or bother to care about how much money they’re actually spending between mid gen refreshes, PS plus, full price games and then the inevitable next gen purchase. Both console and mid-high end PC players are spending a lot of money but console players seem to have convinced themselves that they’re not.
If you’re new to consoles you are better off saving money and getting the base PS5 which gives near indistinguishable graphics and performance and for less money. It feels like this console mostly exists for Sony to lay the groundwork for the PS6 with PSSR.
If you’re willing to shell out $700 for gains that are this small then you’d probably be fine with putting down a couple hundred more to get a PC with some much more noticeable improvements.
It's worth it if you own your own apartment or house and have both a living room and a bedroom. I've now got the base PS5 on my bedroom 4DLP 4K projector, and the Pro on my living room 75" Mini-LED TV. Now I can play PS5 games in both rooms without having to move the console. As for improvements, there are huge framerate and frame pacing improvements on the Pro, in addition to being able to play on Quality modes with Performance-like framerates. Huge difference. I used to own a PS4 Pro, and this is a bigger upgrade than the PS4 Pro was. A lot of games that were unplayable on the PS5 are now finally well above the minimum VRR framerate.
If I kept my fat PS5 I would have needed to spend $ to upgrade the SSD, so I sold it and bought a PS5 Pro. Decent upgrade for a few hundred bucks... would have been nice if it had a bit more horsepower but it's still pretty noticeable.

would love to see a video on optimal settings for the pro. I have an lg c3 and everything looks and plays great but curious about some settings like forcing VRR for games that dont support it and setting console to prioritize performance or graphics... that sort of thing

If you have an eye for graphical upgrades and your main console is ps5 it’s 100% worth it. But then I remember how many people out there literally don’t know the difference between 30fps and 60 fps so ya…. It’s definitely not for everyone and I understand the other camp that says it’s not worth it and they can’t tell the difference looking at side by side comparisons. I have over 100 games in my PlayStation collection and 100% of those games are digital copies so it’s like the ps5 pro was made for people like me

still too old to think a 10% overclock will take it to the next-gen gaming actual up to date to modern cpus (and dont perform bottlenecks on cpu-intensive games)
when you receive basically only a better upscale and upgrade to raytracing, lets call them pssr1.0 and raytracing 2.0
you should pay just for that, not for whatever sony wanna magicaly charge for them

The ps5 pro is the only reason to buy a next generation machine before the pro I could not justify buying one as there wasn't one game that impressed me with the pro I can see so much growth in it's customisation that next year the XBOX will become redundant. The base ps5 is still $700-$800 the 30% rise in price is close to percentage of upgrade from the base ps5 to the pro ? Happy Gaming 👍
@@SCAGMONKY no, i dunno where did you think ps5-pro is a next gen machine, it was in his day (ps5), but today it isnt, and sony stated very clearly that the ps5-pro doesnt have ANY next-gen upgrade, its just adjusted visuals and better performance, not a jump in technology
and ps5 is 400 dollars, with disc reader and vertical stand, or 450 dollar packs with game included, ps5 pro is 950 dollars just with the vertical stand and the disc reader,
from 400 to 950 is an 135% increase in prize, not 30%, you are paying 2 full ps5 fat, and a lil extra, which, again, for just an overal 45% increase in performance is not kinda accurate in price

My issue is these games should be running perfect on the base consoles that people paid for, having to pay $700 to fix this is an issue and will continue using on a path of today's games for tomorrows tech

Its not. The differences in most games are to minor. 100,- less and a discdrive (its a PRO device) included, than it would be a good deal.

No its not worth it... $700 and no disk drive or stand included. The ps5 pro doesnt graphically look better than the base ps5 unless you have them sid by side zoomed in 300x. Games are better with hardware limitations because devs have to work around limitations, thats why all the best games were made 15+ years ago.

Yep. The pro is not for most people at this point. Maybe in the future they will release an actual new game. Until then I couldn’t care less about playing games I’v already experienced.
That’s just not factual. The graphics are better. Frame rates are good and exceed 60fps in some cases. You can see all this with the naked eye. You basically watched a few UA-cam videos and came to this conclusion. You see the difference when you’re playing it right in front of you on a nice big screen.

It depends. It's worth it if you are a hard-core console gamer and do not care about its downsides (online subscriptions and their rapidly growing prices year by year, not having the same flexibility as a PC, no mods, ect).
Most PC players probably would rather pay extra or have slightly weaker rigs rather than downgrade to a console. While more casual players would rather just get the base PS5 because it's cheaper and they don't much care/see the improvements of the pro.

You know we are being price gouged out of our mind with the ps5 pro when you cant go to a gamestop trade in 2 current gen consoles and be able to pay off the ps5 pro, if i was to trade in my ps5 ($275)and series x($285), total comes out to $560.....PS5 Pro is worth it if it costs $500 not enough of a upgrade for $700

PS5 Pro is a Nice Mid Range Gaming Computer. And its definitely worth 700$.
But a 850 EUROS ? ($906) ? That is where Sony crossed the line. 900$-1000$ is a territory of Decent Desktop PC's that will offer far more powerful CPU. Also it will offer GPU's like 4070 or upcoming 5060 that are generations ahead in technology like DLSS, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation. So 900$ is a dangerous price for a console. Especially in 2025 when RTX 5000 and RX8000 launches
