The OG product might not have all the bells and whistles but they work and they haven't been around this long for nothing. Sleep well my precious gramma♥
My grandma used Nivea faithfully and she had NO wrinkles. I'm kidding you not! She was 75 and she had baby skin, firm and tight. I know it's also good genetics but it was amazing.
I’ve seen a few comments about Nivea not being kind to the gay community. I hadn’t heard about it and if it’s true, I don’t condone that. This video was meant to be more educational and not necessarily sell you on a specific brand. If you like Nivea, it’s essentially the base for La Mer. If you like La Mer, I pointed out it has additional ingredients that a good ones. Either way, now you know!
I have been using Nivea soft in the AM and Nivea creme in the PM. I also apply less than a pea size of vaseline all over my face. I learned this trick from my late grandma who had a beautiful complexion.
I have extremely oily skin and have always had painful cystic acne-I've even had to take meds. So I've stayed away from the nivea cream forever. But I happened to try it once and MY ACNE DISAPPEARED OVERNIGHT! I now use it as a night cream everyday and it has balanced my oily skin and I've never had cystic acne since. If do get a random pimple I use nivea as a spot treatment and poof-magic! I would encourage oily skinned girls to not write off nivea until you've tried it. If it works for you, it's the cheapest multipurpose gold you're going to come across. PS: My sister has bone dry skin and she breaks out everytime she uses Nivea. So please do a spot test! Good luck folks! ♥️
I would recommend elizabeth arden 8hr cream daily moisturizer with spf25 for your sister. Sounds like what happened with me and Nivea. The EA is amazing. And affordable.
My skin (and hair, frankly) are very oily and prone to acne problems. I feel like I am in a never ending dance of products to balance it out. I cannot do "one product to rule them all". Now that Western Canada has warmed up.... I am breaking out from my winter super moisturizing routine. Ugggg!! 🙄

In Mexico Nivea recently released a special line of face cream for oily skin and OMG, It's so good! And the 400ml jar (a little less than a pound) costs less than 5 dollars. For a specialized face cream, it's practically a give away.

@@cwright8472 You have a few options here; 1. The MISSHA 'Borabit" ampoule in the purple bottle. This I believe is the best option as it has additional fantastic actives like La Mer. 2. I think people have grand expectations when a grand price tag is attached. With the exception of masks and targeted treatments, you shouldn't expect results after a few uses. Using a specially formulated product with tons of beneficial ingredients changes your skin for the better over time.

Dry skin runs in my family, but then my Oma had her hands in water half the day & wash day wasn't in a washing machine. At night she slathered on the Nivea and Camilla Creme all over. She also made her on creams. She had a medicinal flower garden and herb garden. Along with a regular garden & orchard. Made Elderberry syrup & wine & Rosehip syrup. My Great Aunt lived to be 94, Great grandmother 101, My grandmother over came breast cancer & lived to be 86. My mother was never sick until moving to the US. She always lived on fresh food & produce in Europe and never missed a market day. She passed away after suffering from Lymphoma and after remission developed Parkinsons the 1st in our family to ever have the disease. She passed away at 84, but lived life to the fullest. Was an avid swimmer, always used sunscreen and after 5 children still had a 24 in waste. No $$$$ la mer for me. I'll stick to the family recipe.
My mom was from Germany and the first time I used La Mer I was reminded of my childhood. She used to use the European Nivea cream (it’s sold at a local German deli) on me whenever I had skin irritation...I swear the smell EXACTLY the same!
Spooky Cloud I’m from Germany too and grew up on Nivea. Whenever I’m missing my mom, I will buy a tin of it from our local German deli and it takes me back to my childhood instantly. That and Fenty foundation which smells like 1980s cabbage patch kid lol 😂
Thank you!!! I’ve been saying this for years. I have a family friend who was a chemist for this brand and also confirmed that the base for these two creams are exactly the same so you are basically just paying for that seaweed. You are better off using the Nivea as the moisturizer and saving your money for the La Mer Serum which will give you similar results.
I live in a hot and humid country and i have dry combination skin, Nivea cream is my holy grail moisturizer, night cream and make up primer and it never breaks me out 💕💕💕💕💕
I'm a 72 yr old English woman (living in the US) and Nivea is my go to in the Winter (both day and night), and my night cream in the Summer. I would prefer the English version, but don't really have a problem with petrolatum. I use many active serums - so I don't need all of those in the moisturizer too. Brilliant product which has been part of my life all of my life! (Also, the smell of the English one is a little nicer).
I would use Ponds Cold cream on my face. Nivea has always been too thick for my face so I used it on my hands mostly. Both are definitely old school loves. I love my Cerave face lotion now.
I actually really love putting the German Nivea cream on my face at night over the top of tretinoin. It might be unpopular but I love having that thick dewy layer :) I put The Ordinary's marine hyaluronics on first which does contain a bit of fermented algae.
About 30 years ago, a friend working for La Mer clued me into the similar ingredients to Nivea. I think they are both too thick for my face, but I use it like a mask once in awhile.
I’ve used nivea ( European version) and my personal training clients often bought me Creme De La Mer for my birthday or Christmas no contest Creme de la mer is fantastic .Its what people say when I’m wearing CDeLa M that tell me it really improved my skin.
I LOVE La Mer! It's the only moisturizer that doesn't sting my face. It sinks in beautifully and plumps my skin (temporarily) and leaves a dewy glow. I always get compliments on my skin when I use it and go out bare faced. I can't always afford it, so I don't have it all the time, probably about 75 percent of the time. I use it sparingly and buy it when Nordstrom has a gift with purchase so I can have travel sizes as well. It crazy expensive, but I do think it's worth it, especially if you're 50+ like me. I will definitely give Nivea a try though, I'm curious! Great content, love your channel!
I love and sweat by Nivea creme. I use it as all over facial moisturizer, eye creme, lip balm, eyebrow tamer, cuticle creme, make up remover, face mask, skin barrier when coloring my hair, heel balm, and whatever else I think of. It's literally my one beauty product I can't be without.
So I have a little background story about this. I moved back to Japan last December and spent my money on necessities for my room and my living expenses. When I found out that I was running out of moisturizer I couldn't have possibly spend a lot on it since I was getting paid just a week later. So i went to the drugstore to find a cheap alternative to my previous moisturizer (Corine de Farme), and I picked the cream up. It was only about 200 yen (2 USD?). I thought I'd only use it for a week until I get my paycheck but boy was I wrong. Buying it instantly became one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've been using the Japanese version of Nivea creme for two months now and it's helped my skin soooo much. I have a very sensitive skin that would break out and get dry and flaky during winter for the past 4 years but this winter was the first time my skin calms down during the winter!! I even use it as a spot treatment if an acne pops up and it would be gone in a couple of days. The only thing that's become a tiny red flag for me is the fact that it has fragrance. Other than that, it's amazing.
I use Retin-A micro every night, so the Nivea Cream is pretty perfect for my dry skin (retin-a can really dry out your skin). Love, love, love it in the winter. I use Rose hip oil 30 minutes after my Retin-a, then top it with the Nivea cream. Then I massage with a Gus sha Stone.
Oooh this just blew my mind. I also use Retin-A-I've been trying the Nivea Cream, THEN rosehip oil and finding that my skin is weirdly dry (and I have oily skin to boot!) but I will try your method of oil first, then cream.
Alexis A That’s awesome, I really hope it works!!! It’s what I’ve been doing in the winter for years. In the summer, depending on my skin, I will usually just do the rosehip seed oil and a massage. If I still need hydration, I just use it where I need it (around my mouth, nose, and eyes).
I love this video! At last a woman who doesn't just fall for expensive brands. I have been using Nivea all my life, and just like you I like to spend my money on serums and oils :-)
Hi ! ALGEA is also the key ingredients in most of the smart woundcare dressings right now. Hydrocolloid dressings are composed of algea . It helps provide moist wound environment to promote faster wound healing and minimize scarring. Convatec's woundcare dressing has algea that's why their dressings are the best. :)
Seen by Sheem omg yes they’re amazing, my mom had a huge cancer wound and it completely closed just with the algae dressings, I’m truly amazed and now the dressings are part of our first aid kit in my house
I love the new Nevia Q10 cream, I have used it for 6mths and my undereye area has plumped up as it was quite hollow/sunken looking. I would recommend it, and it's cheap about $18 Australian.
There’s a daily moisturizer for normal/combination skin from Nivea’s “essentials” line (maybe only in Europe, though, idk) that is basically the same as the Nivea classic but lighter. I love it and have been using it on/off for over ten years now, always coming back to it. It also has SPF 15. (I have oily skin that tends to have dry patches sometimes and it works great!)
Omg I have been using Nivea since elementary! They both do smell similar, I had a LaMer sample from Sephora & that was my immediate thought!”are they similar?” Thank u Susan!!
Nivea, is the best and vaseline. Been around as long as I can remember. Mother grand mother and great grandmother all used them. Their skin is like silk.
Nivea is the best ! It’s been around forever and it’s huge in Europe, not so much in the USA because there are so many other brands that it gets lost, but in Europe it’s always been big !
This is true, I live in Norway, and Nivea is in practically every home,, very good cream for cold weather, it protects, it is the No1 go to cream for the cold season,, which lasts.. 6 months
I mix a bit of Nivea with a bit of coconut oil and its awesome. I have tried the same combo with the La Mer but the Nivea works better for my super dry skin. So happy to have found this video. Nivea is great and the coconut oil helps it to spread better.
Nivea Creme is amazing, 3 generations of women in my family use it, soap, water and Nivea Creme and none of the women in my family have wrinkles, bad or spotty skin and have never needed foundation. I just turned 38 and I still look early 20's, my auntie just passed away at 84 and her skin was amazing. to all the teens out there you don't need all these skincare products keep it simple.❤️
@@conrey10 100% agreed, but also putting chemicals on it from a young age isn't going to help, if you look at alot of elderly people they have lovely soft skin because they didn't have all the skincare stuff back in the day just soap, water and moisturiser.❤️
When I wear makeup, I would slather my face in Nivea creme and would wipe the excess off with a cloth and then apply makeup. Love it and have recommended to others.
The algae are shipped for hours before used in la mer creams. And said la mer creams are kept in really high temperature storage spaces. If that didn’t make the algae useless, they add preservatives, which if they didn’t add it , it would go bad in like 2 week, but cause they do add preservatives , it prevents the bacteria from the algae to spread. The bacteria from the algae is what actually could do something, but the preservatives just kill the bacteria, making la mer , a regular moisturizer.
Korean brands Missha or COSRX have affordable dupes for SKII. Japanese brand Kikumasamune sells 17 ounces bottle of galactomyces (pitera) toner for about 20 USD, it's produced in the sake factory where pitera is a byproduct. You can buy them from ebay.
@@sarkahalastova9667 Pitera is not just ordinary galactomyces firment filtrate. It's from certain type of it that is patented, that's why you should never find SK-II dupe. That's why when people really love SK-II, they will keep using it no matter what.
I have combination skin and in the winter, my skin gets very very dry. I didn’t want to spend $90+ on such a small jar of moisturizer so instead I went to sephora and Nordstrom and got samples. When I need a REALLY thick and hydrating moisturizer to stay locked onto my skin, I use my little samples. The creme de la mer really does work and feels luxurious and nice on my skin! I tried the nivea but it’s just too greasy on my skin. I only use the la mer when I truly truly need it and that’s hardly ever but it’s nice to have a small little tub handy. Usually, I use my FAB ultra repair cream and stay moisturized. I recommend everyone try the La Mer this way! Samples can be handy!

Nivea is really great - first: you can use it for the whole body, second: you can use it for babies - so it is good also for you. I can only recommend it. Thank you for this post, dear Susan.
Susan, La mer moisturizer comes in 3 different textures: 1+ Creme De La Mer the original (which is the one you are using) it's thick but requires to rub the creme with both hands for seconds to worm it up and then apply on face, and i think it's mostly like Nivea's texture but bit thicker. 2+ The soft texture 3+ The Gel Texture And all of the 3 gives the same effect as the specialists says, the which depends on your skin type. I used to love La Mer previously unlike others who wants to use it cause it's expensive, luxury, and posh, Naah, i used it cause i want it to give my skin the youth that i want to last as i never jeopardize my health & it's not like "OOh i have money to spend it on this, i am rich" and these kind of douchy & stupid phrases. Unfortunately it didn't deliver the promise it gives neither this creme nor the "genaissance serum" (finished my first serum and still have the 2nd unboxed, and finished 3 cream pots and still have 3 unboxed). I used the gel which is the coolest one (Cold) and thinnest but it didn't absorb like it should be and after watching Hyram's channel & seeing his recommendations i realized that i was wasting my money on products that sells their brand not their effectiveness. (btw, i knew about your channel from Hyram ). Few facts about La Mer: They are now living on their legacy of "Max Huber" who invented the miracle broth that healed 70% of his 1st or 2nd degree burn wounds as he was quite devastated to face the world, then in the 90s his daughter after his death sold the brand to Estee Lauder, and as you know how big companies ruins inventions for the sake of money so they changed the formula and it became like any other drugstore cream. I personally felt amazing effects from "Youth To The People" & "Krave" few products (NOT ALL) than what i felt from La Mer brand. Btw, the 500 ml creme de la mer jar came out to life because of Michael Jackson! he was bathing his body with the 50ml jars so they brought up that bottle for him an became permanent within their line. It's a scam and honestly this one & "La Prairie " are nothing but money wasting as "La Prairie" will ruin your face if you stopped using it and changed your skincare! tried them and never satisfied, actually i was convincing myself so hard that they were effective.
I started using la mer a year and a half ago and my husband definitely noticed. He started saying how my face looks much more radiant and supple. I love la mer. Maybe it's just my skin type but, it works wonders for me.
It really does have an impact -- within a few days I can see the difference. I've never used a product that has such an impact as La Mer. It's expensive, but you only use a small amount per use.
I literally started to see so much of a difference when I began using Nivea on my hands. I had very thin chapped hands from working in a restaurant, and this really healed the skin. And then I really began seeing more long lasting results from cerave with hyaluronic acid and ceramides.
Useful information. Thank you. My husband has badly cracked skin on his hands so will buy him Cerave as he has tried a multitude of solutions that have not assisted.
Keyri Berry I wish I could use CeraVe but for some reason it irritates my skin :( no clue what to use instead since Cetaphil and Vanicream also make my skin burn.
I had flaky dry toes that it hurt when fabric brushed over, and very dry tendons that the skin looked greyish, bruised a bit and, also hurt when fabric brushed over. Started using Nivea religiously that I wanted to forget how often I must apply. All i had to do was just to apply the moisturizer as often as possible. I forgot how long it took until the skin healed itself. But definitely for few months. Since then, I never wanted to use any other moisturizer. Nivea is the best! Also, another tips: i've mixed Nivea with a dot of Safi face cream (Malaysian drugstore product) and blend together. Result: it lighten the skin.
Honestly Nivea Creme gives instant results. It lightened my dark spots but it's just too greasy for me, or maybe it's because I have oily skin. This is a holy grail for me but I personally can't stand how greasy it gets but I would totally recommend this product. I get instant results within 2 days of using it. It brightens up my face.
I have dry and dehydrated skin and hate the nivea cream because it dries out my skin even more and does not really absorb🙅🏻♀️. In contrast to nivea cream, I can recommend the cerave cream to everyone, it not only provides super moisture but also makes my skin soft like a baby bottom 😍.
In Bulgaria this Nivea cream is a STAR! I remember this cream since I was a kid! We always have this cream at home together with another Bulgarian cream! "Zdrave" is actually a Bulgarian version of this cream, but it has a slight whitening effect. Mom used to massage me with “Zdrave” Cream when I had a wound! To this day, I use Nivea cream for the face and the whole body! These two creams are a religion in Bulgaria!
I was born and raised in Mexico and Nivea is the only moisturizer that i remember my mom and my older sisters using on their face, i have been using it gor years and some people even say i look younger for my age im 38 and i dont have wrinkles yet. Ive tried alot of high brands and always go back to nivea cream.
I love Nivea ...but I've been using the Nivea in the white tub which is a day time moisturizer it is a lot lighter and not as heavy as the blue..I absolutely love it and will use it forever
My grandma used Nivea all her life and had the most softest and hydrated skin always. Although she had oily skin. It wouldn’t be overly oily. She would be supple, soft and stayed less wrinkly on her hands and legs. She even used the nivea body lotion. But this is why I too use nivea 👍🏻
both la mer and nivea broke the living hell out of me. I think it's the decyl oleate. I loved the texture of la mer, but it brought back my cystic and fungal acne.
I will say that when I got pregnant in 1992, I immediately bought the nivea cream in the tin container and used it religiously on my belly to prevent any stretch marks from forming since I was so skinny. I applied it on about 4 to 5 times a day. By the eighth month I had a huge belly, I had gained 35 lbs, and I only got a few stretch marks right near the belly button, very faint marks. I always recommend nívea cream whenever anyone of my female relatives or friends announce a pregnancy. It’s super moisturizing.

So cute
That’s what I’m thinking of doing! I’ll fill my Charlotte Tilbury Magic cream with Cera Ve. 😂
Yup turns out Nivea is homophobic af! Had to throw their products asap! 🙊

Luckily I'm straight,so I can use it.

@@luigilove254 why throw out the product? I understand not buying from them again but why waste perfectly good product on a purely symbolic gesture?
Ugggg!! 🙄

Cool but they don't have that skin because of Nivea.

Cool I'll try it again.
In Mexico Nivea recently released a special line of face cream for oily skin and OMG, It's so good! And the 400ml jar (a little less than a pound) costs less than 5 dollars. For a specialized face cream, it's practically a give away.

Hey! Do you also apply it during the day, or at night only? If you only use it at night & wash it off your face in the morning, do you find your face still moisturized throughout the day or it gets dry?
LA MER = Nivea Creme + MISSHA Time revoloution purple ampoule (aka seakelp bioferment)

The la mer smells like ponds cold cream that my great grandma wore. It’s so nostalgic to me!!!
Jessica Jones that would be a good enough reason for me to buy it. Anything that reminds me of my mom or grandma
That's what it is!!!! ❤️
Jessica Jones so true 😀Everytime I apply la mer, it reminds me of ponds !!!

I would use Ponds Cold cream on my face. Nivea has always been too thick for my face so I used it on my hands mostly. Both are definitely old school loves. I love my Cerave face lotion now.
There's zero reason to spend the money on La Mer. The ingredients are underwhelming, and many of them are actually highly irritating.
I actually really love putting the German Nivea cream on my face at night over the top of tretinoin. It might be unpopular but I love having that thick dewy layer :)
I put The Ordinary's marine hyaluronics on first which does contain a bit of fermented algae.
Riiiight! I do the same with Nivea, I just love how my skin is all glossy and glazed
I did my own test when creme de la mer first came out, side by side on my face, with nivea. The nivea won hands down. My skin was flawless.
Does it work as a great barrier for your hair? Definitely going to use that next time! Thanks for this comment 😂
When colouring your hair - how does that work? 🤔

I cannot use full strength Nivea as my skin is incredibly sensitive but the lighter version is perfect.
I'd take Weleda Skin Food over La Mer any day! Plus its only about $10 a tube and such an amazing product.
Totally agree

Only been using Nivea as a moisturizer for years now! My holy grail! :)
The fact that la mer is that expensive and has mineral oil in the container is sad
Princess Mimi The Pug genetics also play a substantial role on how your skin is gonna look.
The creams do feel identical! Need to go get me some Nivea.

I prefer SK II over la mer any day! I never saw a difference when I used La Mer😀

Looking at my Nivea - made in Germany. Yaaaah! I live in Canada. Just started using Nivea and I love it.
Nivea is what my grandmother used, mom uses and I mix it in my routine as I’m addicted to skin care. All that skin care has made us all appear 10 to 15 years younger. I love those little jars of nivea as they’re awesome for travel. Totally agree about serums!❤️
pls give some tips on your skincare, and esp serums
Nivea is really great - first: you can use it for the whole body, second: you can use it for babies - so it is good also for you. I can only recommend it. Thank you for this post, dear Susan.
Susan, La mer moisturizer comes in 3 different textures:
1+ Creme De La Mer the original (which is the one you are using) it's thick but requires to rub the creme with both hands for seconds to worm it up and then apply on face, and i think it's mostly like Nivea's texture but bit thicker.
2+ The soft texture
3+ The Gel Texture
And all of the 3 gives the same effect as the specialists says, the which depends on your skin type.
La Mer has done wonders for my skin. Other products haven't.
@@letsbereal9455 I love 💕 la mer!!

It's amazing
It really does have an impact -- within a few days I can see the difference. I've never used a product that has such an impact as La Mer. It's expensive, but you only use a small amount per use.
So does this mean I can buy The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid and just put Nivea on top of it?
Yes 🤗
Yes, but it can clog your pores. First you exfoliate with an acid and then put highly comedogenic product on top. I break out just by looking at Nivea
nefretiti me too, mineral oil is a huge no no for me
Yes, you might even find that the combination works better than Creme de la Mer.
Nope! Buy TO Marine Hyaluronics and then put Nivea on top of it.

OMG, i'm SO excited to finally see a video on my lotion!!
You're looking amazing Susan!
I’ve been using Nivea since high school. I love it! I tried other products in between and I always go back to Nivea ❤️💋❣️
We need products and a routine for sensitive skin please. Love you channel 😍
You might want to get a sample of La Mer and try it. Cerave in my experience can't hold a candle to La Mer.
La MER is so full of unnecessary fragrance and essential oils that I actually makes me sick.
I’ve been a fan of Nivea since a kid. I am almost 49 years old and dry skin. I swear by it. The BEST!
thank you Susan, I love that nevea cream as my moisturizer everyday and my skin looks healthy using it, its gentle to skin and so affordable.
The thing is, Nivea creme blue tin was made in 1911, while La Mer was made in 1965. So, who's duping who?
My husband has used nivea for as long as he can remember and he has amazing skin. He swears by the stuff!
if you have oily skin, the nivea is still good as makeup remover or a cream wash followed by a regular cleanser!
Thank you for wasting some of your la mer for us 😭😭😭😭🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
My mom always used Nivea and used it on me as a kid, I still love it to this day and the smell gives me so much nostalgia!
