This song reminds me of my son who I lost this year. We met under the stars, I lost him under the stars. May the angels and the starts gently guide my son to heaven. Till we meet again Kyle

This reminds me of the earlier 2000's when I was still in college. Met my first girlfriend to this song, we were both 20 at the time. Tragedy struck though, when we were both about aged 22 my fiance was not feeling very well, she brushed it, she brushed it off though, not worrying about like she was like that, just bubbly and full of life, but all that changed she became so ill that in 2005 I took her to the hospital, she was diagnosed with breast and stomach cancer, she passed away in hospital at the age of 22 with me by her side Sunday 12th February 2006. On the day she died, I was sitting by her bedside, her last words to me in a faint whispering voice with all the tubes through her as she struggled to raise herself to speak to me were before she died with her last dying breath as I was clutching her hand were "I love you", then she flopped back onto her bed and died. I was in tears and this song was played at her funeral.

Why is this song so sad? Because sooner or later each of us must leave here, and it won't always be freely or gently. This beautiful song will probably still be loved after everyone here now is gone, and the stars will be out there long after that. Thank you Kate. You are very wise.

My Uncle was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, and last week was his funeral. He planned the whole thing and chose this song to be played in the middle of the service; I have absolutely fallen in love with it. He was a wonderful man, and he really did have fantastic taste in music...
Her music really does something to me, the first time I heard this I cried a lot!
The very same thing happened to me, and I have no idea why. One Saturday morning, the song came on the radio, first time I’d heard it. Within a minute there rose a sudden, short-lived, tidal wave of tears, great heaving, snot-drenched sobs over the memory of every lost love. Sweet song, sweet singer. Thanks for the reminder of that moment. 🙂

This is such a beautiful song. I don't know how she thinks of such simple but moving poetic ideas. That is what makes her so great. A bit sad of course. Every time I listen to her songs, I enjoy them even more. A wonderful voice, beautiful accompaniment, and simply special. Folk music should not be so good!

After my ex girlfriend broke up with me, I moved on very quickly, it was less than a month before I was dating someone else, and I've been feeling guilty about it since, even though it was 2 months ago, listening to this made me realise that it was her choice to leave me, it was her free will to go, so I don't need to worry about it, she made her decision

We had this song at our wedding in January whilst we were signing the register. I'm so glad we did. We both think she's great so it was personal to us and it's such a lovely song. If you like it, have it at your wedding! There are no rules and your friends and family will be watching you guys with a lovely song in the background not concentrating on the lyrics! :)
