What a talent - the thing that grabs my attention though are the gorgeous images of The Forest Of Dean which was the home of the late great television dramatist and screenwriting supremo , Dennis Potter... What a brilliant man he was... Parts of his magical THE SINGING DETECTIVE were filmed in this magical place also.
Ah! I remember that episode - the one with the Catalan girl climbing human towers at the Casteller championships in Tarragona. I have been privileged to see this tradition several times live in Catalunya and once took part. Each time i have seen it, it has brought me to tears.... something about the trust held at the heart of their endeavour, the solidarity of what they do, the belief in each other that each is bringing their best to make the whole work, the sense of community, identity... Hard to put into words. Thanks you for reminding me!
Ay lad and me an expat Herefordshire boy, the Wye carried me away, maybe someday it'll carry me home. Often went down to Symonds Yat, not far from Ross. That whole area on the borders is beautiful for sure
