The other option is to download Sentio from the PlayStore. It does the same thing and I used this on my older device like the Note 5 without needing a hub. (Fwiw, I currently own the Note 9). It does change the resolution and stuff so that it presents on a larger display etc, but once you exit it's all back to normal.
I've got this, came over from the s10+, am really happy with it, the screen is perfect for me, battery life isn't quite as good as my previous but I work from home and have a powerbank if it comes to it 🤷🏾♂️ I'd give it a 9/10, the foldability really works for me too for lots of different reasons
thao is reaaly my most reliable samsung tech reviewer!!! because she really uses samsung devices PESONALLY unlike other tech reviewers that reviews samsung phones and use an iphone right after.
They need a Note series that flips normal aspect ratio and s pen support. As well as Z fold . Different folds, flips, and strokes, for different folks. They also need a Z Fold 4 XL that can fold from huge tablet and have the main cover screen the size of a Note 20 ultra and both screens S pen support. Think big. The future is looking bright.
Sounds cool but the mail reasons previous folds and flips weren't mainstream is the price a fold xl would be no doubt absolutely ridiculous price and wouldn't sell well
I just got one of these four days ago. The biggest selling point forme was the compact size when closed. As I’ve been telling people, the jury is still out over how much I like it. I do notice the crease in the screen when held at certain angles, but to me it’s not that big of a distraction. I love that I can see my notifications without having to open it, and that I can put it in the front pocket of my jeans without having to worry about it falling out.
Hi, thanks for the video. I preordered mine. Saying good bye to my relationship with Apple iPhones since 2007 for this Flip 3 ! This is the future of phones !!!!!!! Please review Galaxy Watch 4 as I am also thinking of getting one. Keep up the good work lady :-)
So how do you like it? I’ve owned every iPhone that’s come out and tbh I’m so over the same ol’ thing every year! This phone is seriously making me wanna make the switch. I just need someone to be honest and say if it’s worth the change!
Just ordered it for my mother as her gift phone. It seems the most advanced and new in its nature of features. I believe nobody can dislike this phone, it's simply phenomenal!. Note to the channel host: I see it isn't perfect, it is implicit perfection doesn't exist, and if something is considered close to perfection it would cost 3 or 4 times this phone's price tag of $999. It is really exclusive cause no other brand is bringing something alike to the market. Well done Samsung, I'm more and more Samsung's fan. This is a brand that is leading in today's smart devices.
Thanks for this great review Thao. Most reviewers aren't appreciating how great this technology is. Obviously foldables are a new thing and there will be compromises.
My first thought exactly! But honestly I love mine. It gives me that nostalgic feel but also pretty advance with some technology. Apple needs to step it up.
I was planning to upgrade from my S10 but seeing as it usually needs a charge before the days over, I'm so torn whether to buy the flip! I'd hate to be tethered to a charger like I already am. Great review!
S10 does have the best display of them all btw... There is no better display on the Samsung Galaxy or Z phones or Tablets than on S10 ... It is weird that they lower the quality of the display for their next products.. :) S10 or S10+ is the best Galaxy yet released. You can use it another Year or even Two because samsung will support it with Security updates! And then you can buy Z flip 5 :) And you can start saving for it.. :) But S10 is ROCKET!! I do have s20Ultra and my other half does have S10 and I swear there have been so many situations when I just wanted to switch our phones. :D
@@ZOMBuckaCurt As I said 120hz display is not making from a smartphone best flagShip at all.. We do have at home s10, s20 ultra and s21 +.. The S10 is best of them all... Shout out to Racket Boys on the Zflip3 the screen is crispy the form factor is very user friendly and compact. I personally have a ZFold 3 pre-ordered but wifey is becoming more and more intrigued by this device even more so after watching you drop it into your wristlet with ease. Thanks Thao, great as always!
Maybe I have OCD....but the screen crease is a MAJOR deal breaker for me. I'll stick the Note 20 Ultra for now until something better comes out since the note line is supposed to be discontinued.
@@osiris7945 the only way for crease to be remove in a foldable glass is if you make a glass into a circle (like a real glass!), otherwise, its really impossible
Thank you for confirming the Z Flip 3 has a built-in screen protector! I've been looking high & low and haven't seen mention one way or the other before this :)
"Just not as confident about the durability of this [screen that is flexible] compared to real actual glass." Thao, glass is very brittle and breaks all the time on phones. I would figure that a screen made of flexible material would be far more durable than glass.
I think the issue is more so that flexible glass tends to be thinner and scratch more easily, at least according to JerryRigEverything, and dropping it can damage the hinge. Plus, with the first Z Flip, putting a protector on it voided your warranty. Hopefully Samsung has since improved on all that.
@@pixie92441 me personally I always dislike phones being made with regular glass. It felt like they intentionally made them with regular brittle glass so it would break easily so you'd have to buy a new one. I I always wondered why they couldn't be made with plexiglass which wouldn't crack so easily. I wouldn't mind is setting more if it meant the phone were more durable.
Thanks for the review. Our Z Flip 3 came in early, and I have transferred everything over from our S10. It took a few hours because we have an SD Card on the S10, but I can report everything came over without issue. The settings, apps, setup, screens, and everything on the S10 came over to the Flip 3. The only settings requiring attention are the ones unique to the Flip 3. We have the Phantom Black and, surprisingly, it is not a fingerprint magnet. The fingerprint reader is quick and responsive! I thought the phone would flip open easily, as shown on many other reviews. No flip of the wrist to open ours. It requires two hands to open. I am not sure the color will matter if you get a case for it. I think a case is necessary because of how the phone feels in my hand when opening and using it. I have ordered several cases to try out. I find it a bit uncomfortable to hold! It is a longer device and feels top-heavy. Once you open it, you have to adjust your grip on it. You cannot adjust your grip to account for the additional length of the phone until you open it. You will find yourself doing this automatically when you reach your thumb up for the fingerprint reader. Even when I do this the Flip 3 still doesn't feel secure in my hand. I believe a case might help with this. I do miss not having a headphone jack as I listen to many audiobooks and like having this as a backup when my Buds+ batteries are drained. Due to the screen resolution, you will have larger black space on the left and right of your screen when compared to the S10 or other phones that are not as long. The screen seems to be just a bit narrower than our S10. The Flip 3 comes set up in Vivid. I had to change it to Natural for general viewing and in the video section as well to reduce blooming and over-saturation. There is one setting that is enabled by default which helps to access the menus without having to swipe down from the top or bottom of the phone. I mention this as a side note because it makes it so much easier to use the Flip 3. Just in case it is not active you access it by going to Settings --> Home Screen --> select "Swipe down for notification panel. Battery life seems pretty close to the S10 with a 3400 mAh. We are getting about 9 hours with the screen refresh rate set to 60Hz and using Dark screen mode. I did notice the battery takes longer to charge and doesn't indicate if it is Fast Charging? Fast charging is set up in the options. Fast charging will not be indicated when connecting a Fast Charger as we saw on the S10. It is there if you pull the notification screen down. You will see Fast Charge there if you are using a Fast Charge adapter. The sound is weak and tinny compared to the S10. For now, I am not sure we will be keeping the phone. I like the ability to fold it and put it in my pocket, for others their purse, or bag but you have to be aware of the gap which could allow dust and other debris into the phone. Some cases seal this gap so it may not be an issue. It might be a bit too tall for those with smaller hands. The extra height of the phone becomes a benefit when taking advantage of apps that use the multi-window function but there are not many at this time but you can force most apps to work with it. I don't feel the Flip 3 is worth it for us to change at this time.
Thank you for this, I'm an S10 user as well and thinking of buying Flip 3 or S21. I really love my S10 and its still as good as it was 2 yrs ago, I'm tempted to buy Flip 3 but durability is my main concern.
Don't normally comment on tech reviews but definitely need to give a huge shout out to @Thao for this one. I really appreciate the female and Asian female perspective. Helps greatly when I gift or explain tech to my lovely wife.
I'm so tired of people saying this is a phone for women. I love this phone. It's almost 2022. I got it since I work with tech a lot and just wanted a phone for more pleasure than work. This helps me manage both much better since I can just use the outer display to choose if it's worth opening or not depending on what I'm doing at that time. Love it so far. But like I said, I do wish I could get at least 2 more hours of battery out of it.
While I do think the assumption that only women are using purses is a little archaic and inaccurate, I like how thorough this review is! I am a man who uses purses, and I find that even my OnePlus 8t is fairly difficult to fit in any of the pockets in my purses, so having a device that collapses up to a small size would be fantastic! I have this really nice holographic purse that I've been wanting to use for ages, but can't because it can't even fit my phone. I also like how well she showed the advantages of flex mode, because I have yet to see a review that properly shows what a UA-cam video looks like in flex mode, and it's super useful to see that it solves my problem of having to prop my phone up on its side awkwardly using a frozen food box or something when I'm watching UA-cam on my lunch break at work (I don't like putting stand cases or popsockets on my phone because they ruin the beautiful design) and I like that she also mentioned that you can force apps to use flex mode, because no one else that I've watched his said that yet. The fact that she mentioned snow was also super neat, because that's something I hadn't even thought of but I do live in a very snowy environment so taking a call in the snow or even dropping my phone in the snow by accident is a possibility. And one last thing, she is the only reviewer so far I have seen that is thorough enough to have shown that you can turn on the option to answer and end calls by opening and closing the device. I think that's super cool, so I'm glad I was able to see that. I have been convinced, I need it.
Hey Thao! One quick question, hopefully you'll see this! How do screen recordings and screenshots look like? Are they "messed up" in terms of aspect ratio if looked at on other phones? Like are they gonna stand out like a sore thumb when compared to "normal" phones?
"there's a slight Gap in the screen when closed, which tends to attract dust from my pockets".... Gotta be better than a screen that is fully exposed in your pocket?
Fair point! But consider that most phones are water *and* dust resistant. This one is only water resistant. Dust is more likely to harm a foldable device because it can creep under the display and cause issues where regular phones don't have this problem. Hope this helps!
That gap is necessary so you can use a case with the phone. If the gap wasn't there the phone wouldn't close completely. Most people will probably want a case to protect the exterior.
Your reviews are always full of knowledge and fun and I thoroughly enjoy them. Make long term vids as well of the Galaxy watch 4 and a Z flip after a month or two. Love from India..Thanks!

Omg fitting in the Coach wristlet! I have it in black...I played with this phone last week at the Samsung Store in Toronto. I really enjoyed it. If they don't release a Note alternative this year I may look into the Z Flip 3. The glass felt miles better than previous iterations.

Definitely the best review of this phone I've seen so far. And the only to mention that it doesn't have dex
What is Dex.? I keep seeing it in comment sections.
@@SupaVlinSantonE Samsungs phone to laptop mode. And phone to TV mode. Once you connect it to a monitor, you can choose to simply show the phone or view things like a typical laptop
@@AlexThorn oh ok. So I won't be missing anything since I've never used dex. Thanks.
it could come later as an update tho. the phone is more than capable of running it
The other option is to download Sentio from the PlayStore.
This is one of the phones, where they really need removeable batteries.
Totally a problem solver!!! The larger screens have made it a chore to carry the phone around. This thing is a lifesaver!
On the "flip" side, having to "flip" it open.
You're on a roll Thao 😂😂😂
thao is reaaly my most reliable samsung tech reviewer!!! because she really uses samsung devices PESONALLY unlike other tech reviewers that reviews samsung phones and use an iphone right after.
They'd have to make the s pen shorter or foldable. I can agree for the z fold series but not the z flip series
I would buy that in a heartbeat
@@icemanabz I'd rather choose the z fold 2
I see leaks for a Z Slide with S Pen support. Looks cool
Best review yet hitting on all the important points no one has mentioned yet.
The review is so good, I’m abt to watch it again 😩
Best software and UI review I have seen so far - thank you! Mine is on pre-order :)
Just pre-ordered my Phantom Black Z Flip 3 last night. It's my first flip phone in more than a decade and you got yourself a new sub!!! Great video!
This is the best review I’ve seen. I preordered it in Phantom black, I like the nostalgic effect.
THANK TO SO MUCH for mentioning the quality of the screen protector!!!!
I just got mine in lavender and I'm so in love!!! It's such a great phone and this review was amazing. Keep up the exceptional work.
Looking forward to the watch 4 review. I have mine preordered. My first smartwatch!
So ready for my flip3 to arrive 😍.. coming from a fold2 to a flip3 trying to reduce my screen time also.
This phone reminds me of the Gameboy SP. Its literally indistinguishable from one another when closed
My first thought exactly! But honestly I love mine. It gives me that nostalgic feel but also pretty advance with some technology. Apple needs to step it up.
How could would a Gameboy SP case be?
Seriously one of the best reviews I've seen so far. 👍🏾
Your reviews are always the best!!!! I love this phone but it's a little bit pricey 😭😭😭
I LOVE THIS REVIEW, finally found someone who reviews and answers all my doubts.
@@richardlebeda6363 are you high?? The s10 is nothing at all doesnt even have 120hz ur a fool
@@ZOMBuckaCurt As I said 120hz display is not making from a smartphone best flagShip at all.. We do have at home s10, s20 ultra and s21 +.. The S10 is best of them all... Not comparing the power or numbers.. It is just over all experience and feeling. S10 was and is the best galaxy yet released. I DID not say it is Still the most powerfull etc.. Etc..
@@richardlebeda6363 no the s10 is not your stupid lmao
Shout out to Racket Boys on the Zflip3 the screen is crispy the form factor is very user friendly and compact. I personally have a ZFold 3 pre-ordered but wifey is becoming more and more intrigued by this device even more so after watching you drop it into your wristlet with ease. Thanks Thao, great as always!
Maybe I have OCD....but the screen crease is a MAJOR deal breaker for me. I'll stick the Note 20 Ultra for now until something better comes out since the note line is supposed to be discontinued.
This design is indeed to solve problem that actually doesnt exist. This is about style and some people will actually buy it tho
@@excitingmarmot2820 I'm about function over form.
@@808G8GT is it possible to get rid off the crease ? and get the same quality as glass ? i mean like foldable glass.
Would be great to have a Z Flip with ALL the functionality of a Note! Maybe one day...
Thank you for reviewing Samsung so much! I'm a big fan of Samsung products and I love you and your videos! 💙😊
Finally a review by a woman for women. Subscribed!
Unusually well produced, shot, edited, and voiced video.
I've been saying this,
This is the perfect woman's phone
I bought this phone after having watched your review. I love this phone so much.
Thank you for your in-depth reviews!
Your videos always make me want to get some new tech that I don't need... *sigh* I need to win the lottery!
Do not have words for how good this phone and your reviews are
My only concern is the battery.. I can't go back to wrestling with charge through the day 😑
ive pre ordered mine yesterday...cant wait for it to arrive this sept..tq for yor review..love from malaysia
Love your perspective and how it sets your review apart from others!! Definitely thinking about upgrading to this phone for sure with this POV! :)
Don't normally comment on tech reviews but definitely need to give a huge shout out to @Thao for this one. I really appreciate the female and Asian female perspective. Helps greatly when I gift or explain tech to my lovely wife.
phone that fits in wristlet? SOLD!
Reddington would feel right at home with this one😂
I'd say probably not tbh, but if so, the photo crop tools are easy to use just like on iOS
Finally I found a review that covers what's really bothers me in this phone. Thanks!
"there's a slight Gap in the screen when closed, which tends to attract dust from my pockets".... Gotta be better than a screen that is fully exposed in your pocket?
lmao true but i also think it's more noticeable when there's only one spot with dust.
Most people will probably want a case to protect the exterior.
pocket-friendly!!! that is the word I have been looking for to describe flip 3
My pockets aren’t “big”. They are just, hella deep!!!! 😅
yeah, big
Your reviews are always full of knowledge and fun and I thoroughly enjoy them. Make long term vids as well of the Galaxy watch 4 and a Z flip after a month or two. Love from India..Thanks!
amazing how different a phone review differs between a male and female reviewer, you hit the points I wanted to know, other channels nope! THX
I will wait for an updated version of this. I hope Samsung makes one because I really love the idea of coming back to flip phones.
Great review! I’m an Apple user thinking about switching to this phone but I’m not sure anymore. I feel like I’ll get over it sooner than later.
This is the 1st video of yours I watched and I have watched others review this phone...But you have by far done the best job explaining this phone and its features. All the questions I had regarding this phone was actually answered by you. Thank you!
You honestly do THE BEST reviews ! 👌
Omg fitting in the Coach wristlet! I have it in black...I played with this phone last week at the Samsung Store in Toronto. I really enjoyed it. If they don't release a Note alternative this year I may look into the Z Flip 3. The glass felt miles better than previous iterations.
Easily one of the best reviews I've seen yet. Thank you
I finally have one being delivered on monday! Samsung Canada had a great deal that I could not resist!
Yayy, been waiting for your review since the launch!
Known Thao Huynh and her channel from the Z Fold 3 review video, I greatly appreciate the honest experience she shares in her several videos. Thank you so much, these videos should be so helpful for people who intend to get these high-tech temptations for their own :D.

When come to Samsung reviewing, I think you’re one of the best
Genius. ... You dont have to close it everytime ... but there are those few times when you have to carry this tiny bag when you go out and its the perfect feeling 💚💚💚💚💚
The Flip 3 might not seem like it solves any issues but I think I can speak for most people when I say I've had to buy pants and jeans with deeper pockets to accommodate the larger phone sizes in today's market. Getting a Flip 3 would give me more versatility with my clothing, which is kinda cool. 👌🏻
One like. Just for the beginning of the video. The way you use the phone for the video says a lot.
One of the best reviews I've seen...
