I've gone to the Samsung store and played with the phone a little. I have to say, if it wasn't that expensive, I would be leaving with that phone in my pocket. It really feels nice, I don't even mind the crease in the middle. Yes you can feel it when sliding, but if you are looking at your phone directly, you don't see it, it's not a problem. Just playing with the phone for 5 minutes made me forget about any shortcomings. The only thing that held me back was the price. That said I think the phone can be improved on. Probably a dust resistant hinge for starters, more battery time and getting slimmer and smaller screen. When opened the screen is too long, the aspect ratio is unnatural. I guess because all the apps are not meant for that resolution. Still, it's a very usable phone today. The only thing stopping me is the high price. If you are rich (unlike me) and like fancy toys (like me), I urge to check this phone at a Samsung store. I think you'll like it.
Agreed with the aspect ratio actually. If they actually made close to, a little shorter than the 12 Mini size, it would be perfect to incite competition with the iPhone and kicked Apple into spearheading the battle of the smaller phone market.
Agreed, samsung has always a game changer in everything. Now the price is some what in reasonable range. I will wait 2 more years then I will definitely go for it.

Watching this on my fold 3 and im so happy with it so far. I’m curious if get used to the crease. I can get over seeing it, because the functionality is great, but I’m wondering if feeling it will be distracting. Glad that you can get some functionality on the external display. That reverse function of the volume buttons is clever. I wonder why the selfie pics are square 🤔.
Its really not that visible. You feel it more then you see it at times. Witout external light sources iluminating the screen, the crease is completely invisible. *head on view is necessary
The price has dropped in half so I just snapped one up. I like taking photos when I am out and about, but I am now living with quadriplegia and find it almost impossible to take a picture with my smart phone. I'm really looking forward to the Z flip 3 so that I can open it up laptop style in front of me on my lap tray, and using the camera that way to take photos.
But then you wouldn't be able to hold it in place (for example, when you're just propping it up for a selfie or something like that). Samsung made sure to show us that feature.
Exactly what I was gonna type! The touch button can be used for that. When it folds the button protrudes slightly and when pressed it pops open. But then it might create issues where it pops in tight places and damages the phone.
That would me nice, at even the beginning I was thinki g 2 sperate screens and a mechanism to put them together, so like 2 sheets of glass shoved together, although durability wise that'll never work lol
What? Those are two different things. You cannot hide the crease, like it is impossible to hide it. It may, however, be possible to remove it, as in it never happens, but it is kinda hard at the moment. They are probably trying though.
The Razr has a screen that kind of stretches when opened to flatten the crease. It's not perfect but I think it helps a lot. Maybe a solution to consider?
Iv had this phone for about 3 months now its a great phone. This phone is my favorite phone iv ever had its cool and will be a complete classic In the future
Just got this phone and I'm loving it! Love the folding of it, reminds me of the game boy advance SP back in the day but a phone instead lol! Takes up lot less space in your pocket, battery is decent and learns your usage pattern. Great to have something different from a normal style phone. Great review, thanks!
I like the approach that it has be just one more feature. If I might add, it has to be one more really compelling feature, which in this case is that it makes the phone really compact to take along while opening up to have room when actually using it. Also it can help reduce addictive usage by introducing a little friction by having to open it up.
Marques: you'll get used to iPhone's huge notch, after some time you'll not even notice it Marques: this screen protector on fold 3 really annoys me bc of this little cut out.
Wtf? It’s not even the same area. The cutout in screen protector sucks, it collects dust and starts to peel off extremely quickly. And the notch in iPhone doesn’t get in a way at all and you stop noticing it faster then a hole punch in other phones.
@@shadow11270 well I did and the way apple implemented their system makes the notch naturally disappear, meanwhile on androcrap the hole is always there
@@Shadowolf1230 you're on something if you seriously think a big ass notch is less noticable than a tiny hole punch lmao. Especially when it comes to watch content
I’d prefer this one over the vertical fold. Even though it’s a year old the Motorola RAZR 5G is quite cool. Minus the chin and probably smaller, this one is cooler. I wonder when apple will consider a horizontal fold phone?
I don't know if I'm in a minority but I always considered the operating word to be when it's unfolded. What I mean by that is that when unfolded, the Flip is like a normal phone. So this is a phone that you can fold up. Hence, folding phone. :) The Fold on the other hand, when unfolded looks like a tablet or at the very least, a phablet. So I always felt that a foldable tablet would be a more fitting description of the Fold rather than a folding phone.
yes, it would be awesome to see their OS on a folding device similar to Samsung's folding devices, maybe Apple has something up their sleeves or they'll just stick to their laziness, only time will tell.
I'm pretty sure Apple considers just about everything Samsung considers, they just have zero desire to be first. Folding screens haven't exactly been some secret, just like wireless charging wasn't for the years it took Apple before they pulled the trigger. They'd much rather milk sales out of what they have rather than fight for the cutting edge - it's a safer bet for their ever-growing profits. And it'll likely especially take them a while with this because doing it just to say they did could easily lead to a really clunky iOS experience that would just damage their brand.

I just watched this on my new Z Flip 3! I'm glad you mentioned the top of the screen protector. Mine looks the same way and it annoyed me that I can see the line across the top, like they placed it a mm too low. I thought it was on wrong, but I guess it's meant to be that way. I personally don't mind the crease at all, but the ridges on the edge where it folds kind of bother me, I keep finding myself rubbing it with my thumb like a weirdo lol. @@shadow11270 I feel like this maybe the atypical UA-cam Creator response but I think it really depends. The easiest way I can sum it up is do you like the feel of nothing in your pocket or do you care to have a pocket that is heavily weighed down? And secondly do you like tablets but you don't use them because you don't want to carry a second device around? So basically if weight and form-factor doesn't bother you I would recommend the fold. It has a larger range of functionality and you get a pen that can now be used on the glass and feels almost like having a sheet of paper to write on now

Warm regards from the UK
To be fair, video files are pretty big. Copying those over gigabit LAN would still be slower than just walking over to your colleague and handing them the SSD 'cause a USB C SSD is blazingly fast. It has also the added benefit of being able to work directly on the external SSD if you're using a high speed one (like X8 which is rated at 1050MB/s).
“A dot over the side” I mean, this feature exists in Samsung Gear watches before so that makes sense for them to add the orange dot if you have unread notifications of course
I miss the actual led light for notifications. (S8+) Orange, blue, red or green. Now I have to go to my phone and tap the screen to check if I have notifications. (S20+).
I have had mine for 3 days and I CAN'T put it down. I've seen tons of videos where they say the camera is inferior but I don't see anything wrong with it. My pics are clear as a bell. I came from a Note 20 Ultra and I still have it but for now, I will be using this for a while. I love the fact it's compact after it's folded. The only complaint I have is the damned battery. It takes too long to charge and I bought the wireless charger that comes with it and it's extremely slow. I watch youtube videos all day at work and I have to recharge it by 1pm and once I plug it in, it takes over an hour to almost get full charge from 44%. My Note 20 would last me from 9 until almost 6pm with continuous use all day and once I plugged it in, within 30 mins it's almost full. This thing is EXTREMELY SLOW to charge even with a fast charger. This is the most fun phone I've owned and I didn't even notice the crease from the beginning.
I LOVE my zFlip 5G and it's never given me any trouble. I can't wait to get this new one! My asks for an upgrade were: a larger outter screen, some water resistance and a bigger battery. So 2/3 asks is enough for me 😄 The speaker upgrade was a nice move, plus I'm loving this design!
I’ve heard that the older flips tended to develop a visible crease along the hinge; I wonder how often that happens and if it’s a potential problem for the flip 3.
I mean it literally looked like broken display underneath the crease. My friend had flip 2 and she has this super thicc line of broken glass in the middle of the phone, super visible always. It started forming after like 2 and half weeks of use, and Samsung didn’t accept the warranty replacement as it’s mechanical damage supposedly.
I got to get my hands on one of these today, and I was pleasantly surprised how hard the screen actually was. I imagined it would feel relatively soft/mushy, but it didn't in the slightest.
Is that sarcasm? I can never tell. I've seen plenty of UA-camrs do do invisible transitions to their sponsors. LTT tends to just match a word and mash it at the end. This is fine but low quality compared to others.

I got it after my note 10 plus died and the faster 120 fps and 5g speed is amazing also the smaller more pocket able size while not losing any screen size is a huge benefit. The brightness on this phone is extreme 3/4 of the way up with the eye comfort shiled on otherwise your eyes will burn out lol.

If you are lucky enough, see if your carrier has a flip to try. I ended up not noticing it after a minute or two from demoing

This might the best looking thumbnail you/the team have made. Makes the phone look so visually appealing
The book title too
@MKBHD, love that wallpaper. Where can I find it?
The only thing it needs is a spring action button for flipping it fast and starting to use your phone right away
But then you wouldn't be able to hold it in place (for example, when you're just propping it up for a selfie or something like that). Samsung made sure to show us that feature.
That would be useful sometimes but it would be unnecessarily more expensive and this feature would easily malfunction....
Exactly what I was gonna type! The touch button can be used for that. When it folds the button protrudes slightly and when pressed it pops open. But then it might create issues where it pops in tight places and damages the phone.
Def because the effort to use our fingers is a struggle smh
Like the switch comb?
Hope they can produce tech that hides the crease in the screen like how we have under display cameras that are hidden.

Also it can help reduce addictive usage by introducing a little friction by having to open it up.

The Fold on the other hand, when unfolded looks like a tablet or at the very least, a phablet.
I’d rather have a vertical fold because they’re more portable, and the horizontal is basically just an iPad
I doubt Apple will do anything because they’re more simplistic and they don’t experiment
Had mine for a couple of days. Absolutely loving it. The crease argument is stupid and overstated. Barely notice it, if at all. Battery life is pretty good. And man its so unique
