- Benny Hill was a prominent figure in British culture for nearly four decades. His show proved to be one of the great success stories of television comedy and was among the most-watched programs in the world.
Benny is buried in my local cemetery in Southampton, I put flowers on every month, he is buried in the name of Benny Hill

Hearing about Benny's later years and untimely demise gets me teared up every time. 😪 All he wanted to do was make others happy, and his story deserved a happier ending than that.
I'll always love Benny Hill! As a woman, I can honestly say that his humor was never offensive, at least not to people who actually have a sense of humor. He was a wonderful comedian and, as this short video demonstrates, also a wonderfully kind person. He shall always be missed.

I was young and impressionable and no doubt had no business watching his shows and loving his comedic antics, still though, I'm proud to say that I lived during a time when he shared his artistry with the world. You were loved Mr. Hill, and your legacy will live on. Thank you for the many years of joy and laughter you gifted me. I know your birth place of Southampton is still proud to call you their own. Strangely enough, I'm a long time supporter of the musical artist Craig David, who too was born and raised in Southampton England.🙂🇺🇲❤🇬🇧

I truly enjoyed his show in the 80s. His main joy in life seemed to have been entertaining and making people laugh. We are blessed to have them in our lives.

A human with a brain. He refused to use money to show off in posh cars, VIP villas and expensive clothes. He however enriched humanity with a timeless value: he made us happy, for ever will. Long live the king of comedy!
If he had a brain, he would had spent his money and had the bypass surgery. There are people who had heart bypass surgery who lived well into their 70's and 80's and die of natural causes. Instead he was too misery to spend not even 2% of his wealth to save his own life.

My Aunt wrote to him asking him to marry her, apparently he got quite a few letters like that. She was a teenager at the time and engaged 6 times in 2 years to different men,including my Uncle.

Growing up we had 4 major channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, Education Channel) & occas if you held the rabbit ears just right. One could get channel 25, & 43. I loved watching the Benny Hill show!
Really respectfully done, I watched his comedy when I was growing up and I never saw anything sinister in it.
He was just an incredibly funny guy.
In an industry where digging up dirt on beloved icons with the righteous intent of knocking them down a notch is a cottage industry in itself, it's a miracle Hill had survived with his reputation intact.

From Australia here. I am fifty, and have fond memories of watching the Benny Hill show with my family. Mum didn’t approve, but this, Dave Allen, the Goons, and the Marx Brothers were the few things that would cause dad to laugh out loud. Dad was an outwardly serious man, but he had a wicked sense of humour, when he chose to share it. Thanks for the memories.

Benny Hill was as you observe pointing out how silly most men become at the sight of an attractive female, especially those in various stages of undress. The girls in his shows weren't victims of sexual exploitation. They had a ball poking fun at the sheer daftness of men, which Benny's take got totally correct.
I'm from Spain and remember at very young age watching the Benny Hill show, Benny talking in spanish of course, lol, me and my dad waiting the show to start...wonderful times...

I remember when I heard of his passing. What a sad day that was; I felt like I personally knew him from watching his programs (on COVID-19 lockdown in Vancouver, BC CANADA).
Benny was known throughout hampton hill and teddington . He was often seen in one local pub, the windmill. And when Big Ben was partying at the Windmill, every body there drank with him. What a wonderful guy. I for one, miss him terribly.

No word can describe the joy of watching Benny Hill on TV as a curious, mischievous kid, growing up in the 80s in Lagos, NG. This shows how far he brought joy to the world. His sense of humor is indeed out of this universe. It is bar none. His memory will forever remain evergreen.

I'm 63 and Benny Hill was a mainstay of comedy throughout my childhood and into adulthood. Known for his saucy sketches, I don't believe he ever went too far. What a sad ending for a man who brought laughter to the lives of so many people. Rest in peace, Benny.

I really enjoy watching the Benny Hill show as a kid.
He was an absolute comic genius, still makes me scream with laughter, eyes tearing. I've introduced so many younger people to Benny's skits. He was timeless and I still miss him, thinking how tragic it is that he elected to not have that surgery.
It's not something you'd want to go through. Back then it was a 50-50 chance you'd survive it. They have to split open your chest and ribs and you are left with an ugly scar up your entire torso.
He could have lived a healthier lifestyle instead of having the operation.
Benny could do more with a look than most comedians could with 2 hours.

During the 1960s, when performing at the Pavillion Theatre, Ramsgate, Benny Hill stayed at my parents' guest house. I remember him well. He even once read me a story. He was a lovely, kind man. I loved his humour, and yes, his television shows. Harmless fun. RIP Benny!

Growing up as a kid in the 80's, everyone loved roaring with laughter, watching Benny Hill on TV. Robin Williams and Benny Hill were without doubt, 2 of the funniest, most loved people the world has ever known and may their souls rest in peace for ever more, for the tremendous joy they gave to all of us. We have no doubt, they would have everyone in stitches of laughter, up there in heaven!
I remember as a kid back in the late 70s in NY, a recently arrived Armenian family that moved downstairs from us, invited us to dinner. The Benny Hill Show was on the TV, and Mr. Avramian told me that he used to watch that show back in his country. I found it amazing that the show would be on Soviet television.

His antics were sometimes questionable, but I love that he lived modestly regardless of his wealth and spent his life trying to make the world a happier place. That's rare to see in any time.
His show came to Canada in the late 70’s and my dad would howl with laughter at the show. Good memories ❤️

I loved Benny Hill so much. We watched his shows as young kids and I'll still watch him now, even though I'm in my 50s. His comedy never gets old. Same with the Carry On films, my brother and I loved them and of course it wasn't till we grew up that we got all the saucy jokes, but comedy then was...really genuine somehow
Benny's risqué humour along with that of Kenny Everett flew a bit over my young head in NZ in the 80s but I knew something had me tuning in each week!

And because I live in eastern Europe I have the privilege to watch PC crawling and destroing our sense of humor.....we are late bloomers:))).....the worst part is that whenever I travel to London I have to be very carefull to what I say at the office, to females, blak people etc. I even got a handbook from the employer:))....fuck this world I will raise sheeps:)))

Cancelling his show is what killed him. ...me and my best friend would stay up late every time the benny hill show came on..in the early 80s. ..it was our favorite TV show to watch. ..miss them.

I had to sneak into the living room and watch benny Hill when I was teenager,, got caught by mom,,convinced her to watch it and she was hooked watched it every friday night when it came on,,,I miss those fun times.

Strange. What is and what isn't acceptable these days. Unacceptable to laugh at a sketch of a man who's been distracted by a woman's form. Yet perfectly acceptable to have a sitcom about a married man with children who decides to become a woman. And watching his family try to adjust to it. HA! HA!

There's a difference between being too critical of a show like Hills, and expecting people to be held responsible for toxic actions. The former is annoying. The latter is necessary.

@James Henderson - Like the openly gay Garth Ancier, who in 2007 as head of BBC America cancelled repeats of Hill's show and justified it with the usual cultural Marxist excuse that it was "no longer relevant" in today's society - while seeking to put shows promoting homosexuality and transgenderism in its place? Ancier - and Bryan Singer, and David Neuman and Gary Goddard - all have a lot to answer for, in terms of what they did to underaged boys.

Great dude he was certainly apart of my life my family would watch him weekly an crack up down here in Australia he was well loved the world was a better place back then
Loved his shows as a teenager, as did my mates and all my family. The speeded up sequence at the end of each show was hilarious, we still call it "The Benny Hill Music" :)
The skit he did about the turtle jumping thru the hoop with paper across it made us laugh to tears
and when ever people old enough to have watched his show hear that music, right away they think of Benny Hill.
I think it was "Yakkety Sax" It was, played by Boots Randolph.
