After this stage I thought: This was perfect. Movistar was doing a GREAT job, INEOS doing the best they could, but Movistar and Valverde too strong and smart. The way he looked around to check if someone dangerous was on his wheel before he proceeded to finish off Tao G.Hart, delicious!
Great content, great pictures, great coverage.... "and still unable to read a road map" plus a picture of Lanterne having a full plane to himself. Just great.
Valverde has to be one of the best puncheurs ever, if not the best. He has won races this way since 2003. Being that explosive with 41 is something incredible
Lanterne, your Dauphine coverage has been fantastic as usual. Big plus for me is videos being uploaded the evening after the stage finish... obviously easier in Europe than Aus 👍
It was only perfection because Alejandro Valverde had fantastic legs, perfect timing, and totally bossed that finale. I do admit, however, that Team Movistar surprised me as well by not only doing the heavy lifting today, but doing it very well.
Seriously especially recently but look at recent roster quintana, soler, mas, landa all emotional guys not really made for, im trying not to say trident lol, but multiple leaders fragile egos. helps to have alejandro he is like duct tape:) but what a pull by superman he has cojones and should do well there he takes bull by horns they lost that with carapaz!!! Rojas has always been solid, verona, losing amador hurt a guy much more useful to movistar than ineos. They might just be turning corner in time toi win another team classification in tour!!!!
@@ryanphelan6861 I agree, the documentary seemed to show the old trident leaders were being eaten up by anxiety (landa and soler especially) with Quintana cutting himself off to preserve his sanity. So little empathy shown to Carapaz for signing for Ineos, “he’s all about the money” well of course he is, he’s from Ecuador. He’s no doubt financially supporting his entire extended family with his Ineos salary, with plenty of change left over to live a comfortable lifestyle himself. I assumed Amador was signed to be a key domestique for Bernal and Carapaz. Perhaps he’s less significant now that Ineos has Martinez. He could probably go back to Movistar if he cared to?
@@sharonmoller7414I hear ya I'm sure movistar would take him remember Superman bashing Alejandro as poor world champion and he signed they need an Amador Castro is more I think one that does his job and does it great. Dani is dauphine winner and might have been strongest , certainly climber for all 3weeks, at giro could win a vuelta or giro does everything well but descend. Ganna getting him since not best descender and bringing him to pull Egan is why ineos win down to small details.. All the best to Richie I love how he rides movistar have nothing to be bitter about , I don't know that they even are just stress with press main reason landa bounced too. I agree get paid while you can these kids from these countries what an opportunity right? He earned it he got them that giro riding with grinta even sprinting for stages. I understand old hinault and lemond let road decide but as soon as you can commit resources don't have three leaders nevermind tempermental. Ineos are so good at that when froome took over at vuelta in 2011 ,Thomas tour 18, bernal tour 19 they are pros pros, well oiled machine, I don't blame people for wanting to be surrounded by such a professional squad. Always taken care of on and off road. Quintana was so gifted just a very sensitive guy he needed to feel the support it certainly helped I agree.
Best thing about you being in Europe is the upload times. If I miss a race because of work I won't watch the official highlights, I'll wait for you to upload. Much better analysis and meme love.
Well you may be aware that Kyrie is one of the greatest ball handlers in the league’s history so in that respect “reaching” is not advisable or you will likely just be embarrassed when he goes into his flashy bag of ball handling tricks. Valverde is, as the commentator stated, one of the best among the climber/gc guys in an uphill sprint even at his very advanced age. His uphill sprint being comparable to Kyrie’s elite ball handling skills in this analogy.

Have to agree with that. Especially with respect to non-British riders. GCN got on my bad side for the disrespect towards Bernal during the Giro. The way they talked about Yates made it seem like he won the whole race.
Superb Valverde!! As a 44 year-old Spanish I am, that was the victory I was waiting for. You won a new subscriber also ;). Great content on your channel
You are amazing. Fantastic that you moved to Europe. Moving isn’t easy. Moving one’s loved ones isn’t easy. Quitting your job isn’t easy. You are the best in the world at this. You are just getting started. Go Lanterne Go!
These videos are awesome! Old videos (back in 2016-17) were great too, but it is awesome to see these regular videos come out with a consistent great format. Good move to go to Europe, just takes it up a notch. And being in Canada, nice mid-day break to check out the same day's stage highlight video in the afternoon.
Thank you for this excellent vid. Incorporating footage from previous events is unique and totally welcome. I also love the use of photos. Your vids have always been good but are def improving. Great work.
TGH gave a really classy interview after stage he is young star in making just how he approaches things no moment too big this tour is great opportunity for him he has developed so well reminds me ,as I mentioned to you, a young roman kreuziger who was phenomenal rider and I know pidcock will target ardennes but TGH can really do well in both amstel and LBL I think even Lombardia I really like him . Alejandro what can you say hes a year older than me and winning world tour...I get excited when I avg over 200 watts early in the year lol just blows my mind he still gets that gap when he puts in torque. Lopez wins dauphine my prediction saying it now!
Great video. I’m really getting into cycling. It’s so deep as there is so much more going on than just who is in the front. Very interesting. Your videos help me understand what is happening.
Spot on dude. Following your dreams and passion to Europe. Leaving Oz and the corporate rat race behind. Kansas is gone bye-bye. Livestrong LR forever, doing what you love.💥💣🤛🏻
LR, you are right. Valverde is a legend and great for stagewins but his time to win stageraces is long gone. Did he ever help another rider to win a stagerace? I cant remember.
He has ridden for teammates. But on rare occasions and not im full form/with full effort. But he is an exceptional rider and thus allowed to do what he does, imo. I have great respect for Sagan that he is helping his teammates selflessly from time to time, but I think, he doesn't HAVE to do this.
I got the impression from the Movistar documentary that Valverde is a good man. As for being a domestiqie for others, no, but he IS a team player. The documentary suggests to me that AV is a steady influence on the rest of the team, which tends to be quite volatile. He's earned his stripes, literally.

Last time I was so early Movistar still had bad tactics
42? FORTY-TWO!?! Damn. Don't give this old man any aspirations, my body can't handle the training Valverde must put his through. Big props to him and Lopez. Movistar always fields a stellar team, but either infighting or god-awful tactics do them in. They'll be a major force if this is how things are moving forward.
Lanterne, if you could become a commentator for GCN or Eurosport or maybe even your own company, it would be amazing. I love your commentary on your videos, you keep the video interesting 100% though.
I found it so interesting watching MAL on the front pulling like you pointed out. At that speed he was riding as you say road wasn’t steep. MAL was pulling like a locomotive! Which makes me wonder why MAL’s TT results are so inconsistent, clearly he has a decent engine. Sure he’s not anything like Ganna, but if it’s a mental fortitude thing, when he starts losing time mid-TT he capitulates, then surely this problem can be fixed? I assumed Movistar would be the wrong team to address that. But against my expectations, MAL looks like a great signing for Movistar and he’s making confident team leader decisions mid-race, so now I’m thinking there’s probably more exciting performances yet to come from him.
MARK MY WORDS THIS VALVERDE KID IS GOOD! HE COULD EVEN WIN A GRAND TOUR!
He’s a nice guy too, I think he can go far
maybe a monument or two also likes those hills Im telling you!
Yes, but his poor dog is a hemophiliac! Piti!!!
Considering his age, this guy is OVERperforming
Hes been talking about retiring. I believe he has won Grand Tours in the past.
"Enough is enough, let's just win this God dammed stage" - you must be new around here, MAL
