I think Kruiswijk finally accepted that he is a full domestique now and that it doesn't work if he is half domestique half hoping that he might still ride a good GC himself
Kruiswijk is a very good climber but no pure attacker like some smaller riders. He likes it paced and thats why i think he will make an excellent domestique.
Kruijswijk also had a lot of small set backs last years: he simply never approached his 2019 tour form, but indicated that he feels the form is coming. (Nonetheless, he’s never going to be as good as Roglic and Pogacar, settling into his role might indeed bring out his best possible self again)
Still it was very impressive to see how little time he lost on the climb after pulling that hard. That shows excellent form and a lot of motivation. He must have recovered very quickly and then have ridden almost as fast as the guys up front.
I say this every year it seems but there is so much talent in cycling right now. So many contenders, so many strong teams. It is a fantastic time to be a cycling fan. Thx LR for providing content that nobody else provides.
Love this stage and the stories it tells. Chaves at the pointy end is always fantastic, Jonas continuing to pile on strength after the trial-by-tour, O' Connor looking like the kind of dependable top-5 a team like AG2R really need.
Roglic the Redeemer. I love how he's won Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné after losing them from crashes in the last couple years. Does that translate to the tour? 👀 This looked like a perfect rehearsal of the Jonas-Rogla 1-2 punch.
@@Tibovl all the major races are boring, the Giro 22 was 20 stages of caution no one wants to risk anything, glad Richard Carapas list it he did nothing no attacking. Bora and Henley deserved the win, team radios should be banned only race radios allowed for safety reasons.

@@solsouth It's not about radios, it's about the general level of GC contenders is fairly balanced; and at Giro it was also about one rider who never disappoints in preparing lousy attacks that only help his opposition manage the race... still, this time he got to the podium, albeit as the most insignificant of the three.
So, Jonas waited on Roglic, and yet they were still ahead of everyone. Just think about how strong Jonas is, i think he could have taken the overall GC. I also think Roglic is as strong as ever, but Jonas has just improved so much, that it almost looks like Roglic is done. It's pretty crazy that he were holding back, considering they beat the record for that mountain by 2 minutes. And i'm definately not sure about Pogacar being that huge solo favourite anymore.
Well done Ben O'Connor...15sec from Jumbo-Visma in the end, considering the split started 5 km out. Gutsy stage and Finale. Congrats on your Podium finish. Well done to Michael Storer and Jack Haig also.
Italian tv were very much looking into the Rog/Vin dynamic, saying Primoz was just barely holding on Jonas was waiting up for him; interesting to see what happens come the Tour
I am so glad that Steven Kruijswijk has gotten the recognition he deserved for his great work during the Dauphine. Jonas Vinegegaard is incredible. He is such a great young cyclists. IMHO, this is going to be the last year for Roglic to be the top GC guy for Jumbo. Then Vinegegaard will be their top GC guy. My choices for the Tour de France team are Roglic, Jonas, Wout, Dennis, Laporte, ,Kruijswijk, Benoot, and possibly Kuss.
Roglic has been injured and not at his best, but that could end up helping him now. He probably won't hit his peak until the second half of the Tour and that's when the race is decided. Jonas was so strong that I have started to worry that he might be peaking a bit early.
My conclusion on this final stage , Roglic shows that he can be beated after domination in paris-nice & Dauphiné at same time i think Vingegaard can have chance at wining the tour wen the majors contenders start to mesure them selfs cause he shows supreme composure today!
The image at 6:02 (right after the finish) is Roglic coming to the realization that Jonas is the stronger climber of the two - and wondering what he is going to do in July.//
Roglic might need some more time to catch up after his knee injury set his preparation a bit back I'd guess, it definitely isn't certain that Vingegaard will be better than Roglic in july. Though he at least has reached the same level as a peak roglic I'd say if he can keep this up. And regardless at the tour they need to work together as co-leaders and dual CG threat: make Pog constantly chase one of the two attacking while the other sits in the wheel, once Pog catches up the other goes. Eventually Pog would need to almost constantly respond or set pace with someone in his wheel if he can't shake both of them off. That is ofcourse if the tactic works.
@@snufte Usually yeah, but if he has to constantly respond to several attacks the entire tour it will drain him. How many people attacked him last year in the tour? At the end of an incredibly difficult day, where do Roglic Vingegard and Kruiswijk get the energy from on a steep climb to simply power away from everyone else. Astonishing. Ok, lots of riders manage it as a one- off but they are usually done the next day, and of course there was no next day here. But Roglic has found the energy from somewhere to sprint at multiple mountain finishes time and again. I'm not sure I have seen anything like this on a consistent basis in the past 10 years. Other top teams have generally to grind it out. Apart from Pogacar, who else is going to challenge Jumbo?
Jumbo Visma got the best teamwork so far. It's gonna be an interesting Tour de France this year between them and Pogacar and all his "servants" on his UAE team lol
Jumbo's performance was incredible. Jonas Vingegaard, looks like Bradley Wiggin's back in 2012. Clearly Jumbo is getting the nutrition right cause they all look super lean. The Tour de France might come down to Primo Roglic's ability to stay on the bike.
I'm surely WVA, Dennis, Kruijswijk then Kuss will be Jumbo-Visma mountain train for Roglic-Vingegaard tandem. But I don't know if they can drop Pogacar with Soler, Majka, Bennett and McNulty on his side or maybe Almeida can ride up also for him so they can match it.
i think pogacar just gonna have majika with him in the big mountains if all the jumbo rider can keep up , so i think this year pogacar need to show why hes the besr
Looking at how Bennett today was caught by Kruijswijk with quite some lead and McNulty dropping early, it doesn't look that promising for UAE's team in the mountains.
i think this year if poga want to lead they should make his team do the work and just stand back , lets see how good they really are . everytime i see poga he getting pace , if he there in the big mountain just let off and let them take over and attack from behind , roglic gonna win this year !!!
Starting to look like TJV will stand for Team Jonas Vingegaard in the very near future. Roglic is an amazing rider, but I have very little doubts today Jonas could have dropped him kind of easily.
McNulty is supposedly their best domestique for Pogacar I think. Maybe Majka is a bit higher, not sure. And if you know that Kruijswijk is their second climbing domestique after Kuss and drops him, I don't think Pogacar is going to keep his teammates for long if JV decides to really do a pull if all JV climbers are in topshape.
When guys are in a breakaway whether teammates or not I always think they should be fair and equal in terms on the workload at the front. I think Roglic is finding it hard to come to the realization that Vingegaard might actually be stronger than he is. Basically refused to go at the front when both were alone but still expects Vinge to work for him at the TdF.
Interesting dilemma for Jumbo choose Vingegard or Roglic. Pure numbers, it seems as if Vingegard is the right choice. But numbers alone don't win the tour as we have seen in the past that exceptional numbers in June don't necessarily mean the same in July (e.g. Iban Mayo). I think Roglic is their best bet still but Pogacar will get them.
