Hi Bill, I am a professional electrical safety training instructor. I currently developing some OSHA 1910.269 training for a utility in the Southeast. I would like permission to share this video as part of the training. Ths is a great video that every linesperson should see.
When I was a firefighter I was electrocuted outside a house fire buy a downed power line from pole hidden in tall grass. I remember is my knees buckling, putting my hand down on ground to catch myself and immediately seeing sparks and feeling like I was hit by a truck as I was thrown backwards. When I regained consciousness it felt like a elephant was sitting on my chest as I was having trouble breathing and in pain. I was rushed to hospital and they were surprised I wasn't dead. I refused to stay for observation like a dumbass. I just wanted to go home. I've been scared of electricity ever since.
Can't say I blame you. I don't know why fire peeps don't wear Novaks. There's always a chance of electrical. Glad you're alive. But that's probably how Luke felt when The Emperor was frying his gonads.
I knew someone who hit an overhead power line with a dump truck. Got out and nothing happened, reached back in the truck for something and got blown apart. Lost both legs and had other serious injuries. Even the 120/240 power on the secondary side can easily kill you.
He should have staid in the truck the rubber wheels were keeping him insulated , or gotten out hopping with both legs together so no circuit would be created
For those of you reading this comment, it's okay, it's normal to feel lonely sometimes, if you're going through tough times, keep trying, but never give up,
The 1 thumbs down was from the transformer that couldn’t take this guy out. Great video
