    I did the same to my pool last year, and it's been 100% water tight with no problems. I think that large round area is plastic welded like the rest of the pool seams. Awesome video, and to anyone else on the fence, follow just like he explained and you'll be glad you did.

    Thanks for this. I upgraded my pump and filter and was considering just using the "B" type adapters instead of cutting, but I didn't want to restrict the pump's flow. I was terrified of doing the cutting, but this video makes me feel much more confident about trying it myself. Kudos!

    I have a 24' Intex pool. I had the connections from an older 18' Intex pool that didn't use the 1 1/4" hoses, it had 2 - 1 1/2" pool connectors with the valves on top. I bought a 2" tee and 3 - 2" threaded connectors. Used PVC cement to the connectors into the tee. I had a selection of hoses saved from older pools for the right lengths for the left intake and a longer one for the right intake. I used the same length hose for the intake for the tee to the pump. It looks and runs great!

    When rubber is exposed to petroleum jelly, the rubber can become brittle and cracked due to the solvents in the petrolatum. The petrolatum can also cause the rubber to swell and harden, reducing its elasticity and leading to eventual failure.

    Watched this video numerous times. When I order my sand filter it came with the 1.5 inch return. So ordered the 2 inlets to match. Cut them in this morning. So far so good. But I do have one question because I'm new to this size pools, what vacuum style/connection fo you use.

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  5 років тому

      little shark pool vacuum is what i'm using, it came with rubber cone to fit multiple fittings. There's a couple ways to get it working with the Intex fittings.... I cut the secondary screen out of 1 of my intakes. The other way is use a screw on adapter here's the link.

    • @Yellowdogsworld

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  5 років тому

      Yes, since I did the first inlet outlet set the previous year. I bought another inlet outlet set the next year, so i ended up with an extra outlet, not a bad thing if you have a leaky cut off valve "you will have an extra". If you plan on doing the "Y" setup like i did in my follow up video, then you will need 1 extra hose as well, along with the stuff i used to make the "Y" I hope this this helps :)

    Hello. I am planning to do the same to my intex prism frame. I bought a pump with saltwater system and there are only 38mm hoses and I got that hydro aeration inlet jet with it too which is for the same 38mm size hole. I am missing the valves and the skimmer which I am planning to buy. The problem is I am a bit afraid to cut holes to my completely new intex prism frame pool...
    I am considering using adapter B but as one guy here said I am a bit afraid that it will be a bottleneck and that I will not use the full pump potentional. I was even talking about this to our local pool shop guy and well he was against it to cut holes. So now I am thinking to maybe stay the very first year with adapter B and do the holes after 2 years (warranty) or somehow risk it and think to myself *screw the warranty and do the holes :) Do you suggest to wait or screw warranty and do the holes right away ?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  6 років тому

      Well, their is always a risk to modifying any pool from the factory design, so if your unsure, don't do it...
      What I did was a risk i was willing to take, no ones going to recommended cutting a pool like I did just for liability reasons.
      The adapters are no risk option, especially since the pool is under warranty, I'd probably give them a shot first see how you like them.. plus their cheep.

      @chestercopperpot9294 6 років тому

      I ran mine last year with the adaptors and it ran fine though it was on the lower range of acceptable flow for my heater. Going to cut them this year as it seems easy enough and quite a few people have done it without any problems (plus the larger outlet valves come with the sand filter).

      Apparently the source on amazon I purchased from is no longer available, i did however find on the Intex site under one of their larger pools all the parts listed individually you would need for the pool inlet / outlet.
      www.intexcorp.com/replacement-parts/above-ground-pools/ultra-frame/20ft-x-48in/2018/26303eh/pump/

  • @aliceinchains5243

    Just purchased the same pool and the pump is weak. Now I have get to a sand filter and cut hole bigger for the larger line. Prolly just get the 3000 GPH pump.
    If it were available I would have just got
    the XTR instead. It comes with the 1200 GPH sand pump so I would have to change it too. 1200 seems undersized also.

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  4 роки тому

      yea, 1200 GPH is not much better, they really do undersize the pumps in my opinion.

    • @ssmm7335
      @ssmm7335 4 роки тому

      Did you purchase the 3000 GPH sand filter/pump? And if so, did you end up cutting the liner to fit the larger inlet attachment or did you use the original inlet kit that came with the 1000 GPH pump? I'm nervous about cutting the liner. But i'm also concerned that the pump is too strong for the smaller inlet kit...

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  4 роки тому

      @@ssmm7335
      I did buy the 3000 gph pump after purchasing the pool, and had to cut the liner to fit the outlet and inlet. I didn't try running this pump with the 1.25 fittings. Honestly, since the 1.25 hose's clamp-on I wouldn't trust the lines to stay connected with the higher volume. Now like I said in my video, I don't recommend anyone do what I did for liability reasons, but I've seen a lot of comments saying they've done the same thing without any issues.

      yep sure do,
      Adding a salt water system to this pump would keep you from using chlorine, however on a pool with steel tubing like the one here, its not a good idea as it will rot the tubes pretty quickly.
