- I built the cage and they lay the eggs. I love the smell of chickens in the morning!
I learned a lot of cool stuff on SSLFamilyDad's Channel: • Invisible Trellis - A ...
The chicken breeds are Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and Golden Laced Wyandotte.
Music is "Ride of the Valkyries" by Richard Wagner
hydroponic chickens
Chickens only grow Airoponically, duhhhh
Can you Kratky that Jeb? CAN YOU? Ethically speaking, the correct answer is you should not Kratky chickens, but the interesting question is *can* you Kratky chickens.
soil chicken persons would get mad.
More like aquaponic chickens. Chickens breathe water.
@@jc6226 all you need to do to kratky a chicken is add artificial rootmass to it's feet in the form of a nutrient IV haha
Impressed that your monster plant evolved into fully formed chickens. A true gardening master.
i bought them at the tractor supply store
Ah, the ol' youtube switcharoo
The plants or the chickens? lmao A friend of mine has I think 40 chickens. Keeps the eggs, sells some eggs.. they are pets.she has a couple that are small and jet black; forgot what kind they are but they looks cool. I guess the skin is black also.
I thought you would've recommended he garden bookworm adventures deluxe
@@JwilliamsAssociates
Ask what kind they are
That CAN'T be Jeb's backyard........I saw a Tupperware tub with NO HOLES in the lid !!!
no holes... yet
you are the most industrious and kinda ominous dude i've ever seen, good on you!
"Yet," lol
Look he may have spared one, just one.. So that it could live out its tupperware life in piece
My husband hates when I watch your videos. He says they "give me ideas". Lol, in other words, chickens may be arriving at ours.
after the initial setup, they are relatively low maintenance
Thanks for they reply, more reason to become a caretaker of chicken
Check with city ordinance to make sure you are allowed to have any.
And your husband, sigh, as if we can't get any ideas on our own.
@@bzz5601 if you dont want them why not eat them?
Midsummer night They shouldn’t smell bad. If they do you’re doing something wrong.
Chickens: Like wood chips and Dirt.
- Jeb Gardener, 2018
yes this is my observation
I would love to see an omelette made with only ingredients from the garden! The gardelette, if you will
That would be fun, but I like cheese in my omelettes.
Cow?
maybe sheep cheese?
Goats?
@@JebGardener you should make some cheese for an episode. I wouldn't mind watching that.
Will they Kratky?!!!!
8:29 "Aww I'm so proud of you..... Ursula." That killed me lol!
feels good to laugh
First you defy nature with plants and if that wasn't enough now you have moved on to the animal kingdom! I am frightened yet curious.
nah I take real good care of the animals
Jeb Gardener first, earth, next, mars.
When are the hydroponic chickens coming?
Has jebb gone too far?
Lol, when he gets bees then he has gone. I started with gardening, got chickens, got to gardening again and have added bees. Its good fun.
One of the most beautiful and interesting videos I have ever seen. Love how you involve your kids in the work and also how you trusted your son with picking up the egg - small and very valuable lesson in responsibility! Great Video Jeb, also happy to see that you seem to be an amazing father.
Thanks Jan. This one was lots of fun.
Just realised that your hat on the thumbnail and throught the video resembles Lt. Bill Kilgore‘s - good work on that one
yeah i didn't plan that; actually realized it after I picked the music
The quality of your videos are always on point
Thanks berom
I'm so proud of Ursula wow. What a queen
she's in charge, too
Where did you get the seeds for those two legged creatures ?
2:19
Also for those long things too
you should keep quails also.
that would be fun too.
I was thinking the same!
Would they have a tinier version house?
Quails are great, my father had quails and chickens (not at the same time unfortunately) and they loved running around the yard eating bugs. Unfortunately I think they had a few meetings with a fox.
I doubt they had a FEW meetings,. Usually one meeting is all it takes.
Love the video Jeb but where do I find myself some hydroponic chickens?
Grow Eggplant
YUM Then invite Jarid and myself over. We will each bring something I am sure. lol If we can bring our wives / date let us know. Jarid you down? lol (Like how I just jumped in and invited myself AND you lol)
Dat obergein
This week on Jeb Gardener, watch as Jeb transforms into Jeb Chicken Farmer and then into Jeb Carpenter! What will the next regeneration bring? Tune in next week for Who knows what!!
probably a lawn mower video... seriously lol
That's the added fun in it, all the stuff you make for your hobbies whether plants or livestock
this house must be a heaven for your kid(s), big garden, animals to play with, plants and A JUMPING BED
Your videos are dope art! This combination of music, youre voice and pictures is amazing! Thank you so much! ❤️
you are so wholesome with your son! it's very nice.
Jeb, your chickens are gorgeous! Congrats on your buildery skills, of which joinery is one part, of course.
Thanks it worked out pretty well this time
Honestly you're videos are great! Not sure if you were taught or just plain talented but they're just so fun to watch!
The Dr.Who of the backyard. What will come out of the Kratky Tardis next? Great fun.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🖖🏻💪🏻👩🏼🌾❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾
it would be nice to have a time machine. thanks.
I thought you were going to make some box cages but
you made them a house, a mini house for chickens.... ..
and that's the cutest thing I've ever seen all day..
yeah it turned out pretty nice
I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream; that's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor... and surviving.
I'm no eggspert but those eggs look really good, big dark yellow yolks.
Omg I havent watched it yet, letting the commercial play but this title has me so excited
hope you weren't dissapointed
I loved it. You're a good filmmaker Jeb! I loved seeing they chickens and dogs. That cedar door with nice hinges is something to be proud of!
As someone who hates lawns, I must say that you kicking over the sprinkler head made my day!
seemed like the easiest way to dispose of it
That Master Blend Feed made them grow superb!!! Well done sir, you will have some great compost for sure!
it would be fun to grow their feed too
I love your editing, delivery, humor, and projects, everything just comes together so well XD
thank you
I've had chickens for 8 years and I've always loved the fresh eggs. Store bought never compare. Also, I got a rooster last year that just has the most beautiful iridecent black feathers.
cool
that cold ice lifeless eyes staring at the camera while chewing and gritting on those sizzled fried defenseless eggs and whispering "yummy". dood, i think you could become a cold serial killer if you put enough effort into it. lol
jokes aside, the video was fun.
0:30 The chickens charging out to the sounds of Ride of the Valkyries is hilarious:)
Btw, which one of them handled the camera inside the cage? I bet it was Ursula.
ursula was the 3rd one out. glad you liked it
"How to get rid of this broken thing" lmao can't stop watching these videos man!
people were asking me how I was going to get rid of that broken sprinkler head for a month.
Your editing has gotten really good, I love the switching between building it and footage of it in the days after
thanks, i couldn't tell if that would be too jolty
I like the chunky metal cutting scissors .
& the vestigialyl legged sausages cruising around.
glad you liked it
man ... i really like your videos... funny, straight to the point, very well edited, good quality and with lots of content ..... wow.. well done, top quality builder...
thanks
Get a bin and do 2 inches of half and half sand and Diatomaceous earth then keep it covered. They will love it!
And add more trellises to their ramp. My legs were starting to hurt from them reaching so high.
they get up it effortlessly now
@@JebGardener hindsight... Better drumsticks!
I was born a village boy, but I haven't been more intrigued by chicken.
Your videos deserve more attention.
glad you liked it
Jeb, yours are some of the most entertaining videos I've seen. I really enjoy them, and I think you're an absolutely hilarious guy. Also, FANTASTIC coop setup!
Glad you like it
"oh great I get to deal with this stuff.." Made me laugh so much
Don't know why when I found your channel I forgot to subscribe. Just randomly remembered the channel and came back. Definitely subscribed now.
That's great!
Yes Chickens!
they are so fun!
Jeb the king gardener is back😎
Did you get the notification for this one? Views are much lower than normal so far.
@@JebGardener Yes jeb, got notification!
I didn't get a notification, however I did see it under recommended.
Correction: I forgot I hadn't clicked on the bell yet so disregard my previous statement. Fantastic video yet again by the way, Jeb!
Jeb Gardener UA-cam is a little whimsical, sometimes you get lucky and are in the recommended feed for a lot of people that then proceed to watch your video. Don't worry about it though! :)
You Sir, are amazing! The way you narrate is almost hypnotizing! Keep it up Jeb! :)
glad you are enjoying the videos ruud
I love 'em!
I love these ladies ! Theyre so beautiful! Chickens are so amazing, honestly if I didn't live in an apartment with no yard, I'd love to raise some myself. Great video as always !
If you don't mind scooping up poop all day you could totally live with a couple birds in an apartment with a non-rug floor.
+Jeb Gardener
When you clip their wings only clip one side, and make it drastic. The coop looks great Jeb, have fun with your new hens.
so far they aren't flying enough to have me concerned. that is an interesting idea
I was just gonna say how beautiful the heart-wood in those 2×4's was. Niice
thanks i picked some boards to be more visible
Jeb Gardener you inspire me to add more plants to my garden, and eventually im gonna try that krat king method.
very cool how you showed the chickens grow while building their coop
thanks jon
Jeb, you keep me determinated to keep up with my garden
Love your work Jeb it always puts a smile on my face when I see you've made a new vid, you have an awesome sense of humor and I don't even realize I'm learning stuff. You're amazing keep it up 🙂
that's great. thanks
A quick pointer: if you attach small cut branch to the stepper, the chicken feet can hold its self and climb the latter, my had the same issue until I reformatted it.
Also, provide 1 tps of brags vinegar or yogurt, it prevents parasites, gives them more good gut bacteria.
Also, where there are chicken they will be: possums, raccoons, rats etc..... if you extend the bricks on the skirt of the foundation 2 feet more, that will avoid the animals from digging and getting in the coop.
My neighbor did not do this, and unfortunately she lost one chicken, and had another one injured!
Home grown eggs taste the best! Congratulations on your first eggless!,,
The fact that the classical music played in the background is called "Ride of the Valkyrie" makes the fact this video revolves around Chicken even funnier
I used to have pet chickens as well! The "home grown" eggs are really something.
yeah fun times
They look so cozy inside the house.
they are very happy
Top notch departure from the usual Jeb. Chickens are the best, watch out for those Red Mites though!
Thanks Parnika. How do you diagnose those?
I used to find them in the nooks and cranny's of your hutch (which is amazing by the way) tiny little red critters, sort of like ticks. But they will infest your chickens on their skin and cause them irritation. If you look at their skin you will see them at the base of the feathers. But i will be honest, this probably wont happen provided you keep their hutch clean. Otherwise look up Red Mites Chickens on google, there is a powder for them if they do get infested, unlikely as it is, so don't worry! I think what you are doing is great, a supper lesson for your kids, and the bounty of eggs to boot! Huge respect to you!
God you are the man jeb
You remind a lot of my Dad, and he has chickens, and he names them all and looks after them.
thanks stege
Jeb Gardener do you think chickens will kratky?
you absolute mad lad YOU ACTUALLY DID THE 'MY NAME A JEB' --
He's a real stand-up guy for listening to his kids dumb ideas and saying that sounds neat
I never knew cooking eggs could be so exciting! Now whenever I make eggs I'll play Ride of the Valkyries
that might get old
@@JebGardener ok
You definitely deserve more subscribers and viewers. I hate gardening but I enjoy watching you do it lol. Good day
i know
Wagner? Hydroponics? Suburban (red Wyandotte??) chickens? Sir, you've won my heart.
awesome
I love watching your films! 😆
thanks
the transition at 14:24 was wonderful
Seeing you buld the entire thing was so satisfying.
I have a slight eye defect that makes me unable to measure things to the milimeter so anything that requires that type of precision I'm not good at.
I'm definitely hungry for some eggs now
you can still put boards together. good luck
Omg I’ve adored you for a couple of years. But you have black laced and splash laced Wyandotte’s!
What a gorgeous henhouse and chooks♡
thanks!
idk why but this is so good and funny. Love u Jeb.
hug from Italy
glad you liked it!
Your are probably the best dad ever. Love the videos man.
thanks patty
Awesome video, Jeb. I'm waiting in the same yumminess. Our chickens are just beginning to act a little strange lol.
the first eggs are very small. they get larger as the chickens mature
Chickens make very good pets he can eat their babies I mean eggs also they do cute quirky stuff and they like to be petted sure you may eat one every now and then but whatever they're still good pets
It's good that you let your chickens wander around when you do so this allows them to find bugs to eat chickens like bugs and corn the best they're omnivores
Love this video! The children are adorable.
thanks orpha
MY BROTHER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER !!! Way to go, eh. If I find out I can keep egg chickens in -45f (is where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet up, so we all know what BLOODY COLD is now) might do this next spring. Have it on my white board of projects. 😃
you could make a giant water bottle to keep them warm at night.
You are an inspiration jeb. Great ideas
thanks ryan
I love how the dogs are like "..... Hmm wtf are these"
yes the dogs had a few smells when they were in the tote and they were excited to get a closer look
Eggcellent video
thanks devin
This video was Egg-cellent 😂😂😂
Glad you liked it
Our chickens had some problems nesting in their boxes. One day, I discovered that they'd been laying behind a bush in a depression where a couple of golf balls had ended up. I moved the golf balls to the nesting boxes and they haven't had a problem since!
Ursula lays under a bush now and then.
Jeb,
I used to leave an old board in a corner of the yard, and kept it well watered underneath. Then every once in a while I'd flip the board and the chickens would run over to devour this new feast of bugs.
Sounds like a fun idea
Wyandottes are a good breed, wise choice, pretty friendly and do a good job of laying regularly. I had them but decided to give them away and get Runner Ducks instead. The problem with the ladder is that it is really too steep for a big breed like a Wyandotte to climb. I give them credit for making a go of it; they gave it the ole Jeb heave-ho and experienced Victory. For cutting aluminum panels I use a jigsaw with a bi-metal blade on the metal setting. The reason I don't like using wire snips is that I seem to always end up getting cut on the edges, especially hardware wire. Good choice going with redwood, it will last a long time. Its amazing how you can build something and then a decade seems to go by really fast. I learned quite quickly that its better to do something for longevity and spend the little extra at the beginning.
I know there has been a lot in the news your way about Newcastles Disease and everyone getting their backyard chickens confiscated - hope you fare well on that. Be sure the kids wash their hands after handling the chickens..............and get READY for fly season.
yeah we heard newcastle was going around a while back. it will be a shame if it comes through again
Those doggos are "O lawd he cummin" size and I love it.
why do i always love these videos
you should find out
I found your videos several days ago and at first i was weirded out, then intrigued and then kind of afraid, cause you look like the type of guy who'd murder me if I angered you, but anyways I'm so glad YT actually recommended me your video, I love the classical music you use, your monotone voice and the fact that you start every video with My name's Jeff... I uh, I meant Jeb.... Please don't murder me....
There are your little ones. lol how cute. Great way to grow up. Raised my kids in Geauga county Ohio (means nothing to anyone on the channel I am sure) but it is fairly rural but like 10 minutes from densely populated areas. I grew up in what is not the inner city. West Geauga is a GREAT place to live and I can' think of a better place to raise kids. Nature, horse farm up the street. Amish not far away.. 4 wheelers, mini bikes.. Fresh air. Where are you located Jeb? Fairly rural area I assume being that you have a couple chickens?
Your dogs are adorable with the chickens 😊
Yeah the chickens get a little pecky now and then and the dogs run
You know things are serious when Jeb breaks out the level and actually uses it. Dog seems well behaved around the chickens too in fact better behaved than the chickens themselves. A fantastic video and nothing beats fresh eggs as a lot of producers in NA tend to wash the eggs before they get to the store removing the protective coating. Very fine looking coop I even think the chickens like it... look at those colorful eggs at 14:40 they've left.
I wanted a tight seal with the boards and bricks so I used the level, otherwise I might have skipped it. Funny, building the coop happened around Easter. Maybe those are bunny eggs.
Only one way to find out and that's if they have a creme filling.
I really want chickens because I use eggs in EVERYTHING.
are you going to get them?
Chickens are already dramatic enough without the epic music. They will knock your 4 ft level over and break a window in the coop you are building, without the slightest provocation. Kentucky Fricken Chicken.
P.S. Try building coop with clear, uv resistant plastic corrugated roofing in shady areas, or overcast areas like parts of pacific northwest. The people I built the coop for in PNW said egg production more than doubled building a higher roost in a coop you could stand up in with plenty of natural light from all sides, especially the roof.
Eggs hard. A man of true culture
thats how mom made em
Nice set up man! Big fan from South Georgia!
thanks jeb. you got chickens?
Jeb, just completed my first hydroponic grow thanks to your inspiration. A bit of tip burn on my lettuce though :( what can cause that? I grew some loose leaf salad bowl lettuce btw, a little bitter too sadly lol
Yeah i said it, What you gonna do lights too close or too much nutes.i have 8 plus yrs of hydro grow experience
asamusicdude i think i might have janked the nutes up lol thats all i can really think of
could be lots of things
humidity too low
temperature too high
ec too high
Jeb Gardener well my AC did go out for a couple of weeks, living in south Texas so it got up to around 80-85 degrees inside. Humidity wasnt an issue but maybe the nutes were off, they didnt really mix in right and i had some film on top of the water for a while too /:
Jeb Gardener btw your kid is the cutest, it makes me smile when he makes an appearance in the vids :)
dude you need to grow some of the devils lettuce and calm dowm love ya
It’s 3 am and I’m thankful this video exists
that's great!
4 chickens? You outlaw!
yes
lmao dog gets brave.. Decides to check out the chickens.
yeah it took several days for them to relax around each other
Look at all those chickens!
they are such sweeties!
I watched this because of the slighty sarcastic super calm voice
good reason
You gave a lot of ideas. Love your videos
glad you are enjoying them
Great video/content, thank you sir.
