Thanks Nate! 10 years of forum hunting hasn't given me the all in one vital white board info that you did. Gotta hash tag the shit out of this!! And for everyone that thinks Nate's very fast skip over like intro of just throwing a axle underneath the truck and using lasers and chalk marks on the floor is absurd it's really not. Don't over think it..you don't need to be so precise.. no frame table/machine needed.
@@DirtLifestyle thank you man , you are a dam good teacher. I have found it hard to get info . Hi Nate, don't worry about your talking, when you talk, it's informing, and educational . whoes going to complane about a free educaton .thank you for your time and knowlage.
Jake Burkey over at Busted Knuckle did a few great videos on link geometry. Highly worth watching, very informational. He covers a lot of pretty advanced stuff in a fairly concise manner.
Nate, your ability to eliminate so much of the intimidation factor on these builds is so important to us noobs! Thank you for the always high quality and encouraging videos!
As a small company plumbers labor nice to see a former plumber using field tools in the shop! When I get my barn built so I can start building my truck and operating my own fab shop all these plumbing tools were worth the investment
I consider myself a 'skilled novice', I am a fairly proficient fabricator. But I am ignorant in suspension geometry. This video has cleared up a few things and filled in some holes. Thanks.
Nate, thank you for these videos. I have a 1952 and a 1954 Dodge M37CDN trucks I'm building a garage/workshop to build them. One is in fairly good shape and will be built to original condition. The other will be built as a regular driver for hunting, fishing, camping, hauling, towing, trail runs and such. That will require significant driveline, steering, and suspension changes. I have yet to watch a video of yours that I didn't learn significantly from, and get the brain going. Keep them coming!
Dang, wish I had more shop space to take on bigger projects like this for my channel. Keep it up! Very inspiring. Really like the high level of production you put into your videos. Makes me want to spend more time on mine.
After growing up around Land Rovers and building a few D2's, I'm really excited for this and I can't wait to see it finished. I sold mine for a Jeep because of the ease and capability to be built up capable of doing trails the D2 could only dream of. The price/lack of aftermarket parts, small wheel wells, and high COG just couldn't compete. All of the built D2's that I wheel with in the Jeep still don't seem to work well. I'm sure you'll have it dialed in!
As a Disco owner and a 1 ton swapped 78 f150 project that stalled out a couple years ago you have motivated me to get back working on the f150, once i finish my np230 build for the disco. Thanks for the great content.
I hope not! Reliability is so important for an overlander. I can deal with an over heating engine but breaking an axle shaft in the mountains, 1500 miles from home could be a game changer lol. I'm even going so far as to put chromoly front shafts in this beast. 💪
Such an awesome built, big fan of the DISCO's. Be interesting to see how the transfer case and transmission hold up over time pushing the bigger axles and tires over time. Personally, I think they should do fine.
Im curious about this as well. Its way under geared right now and I'm over gearing it for this build. The engine is going to rev higher on the freeway but this should take a ton of stress off of the transmission and tcase. 5.38 gears on a 37 should restore a ton of power and make hills easier then stock in theory 👍
Thank you for a great channel. Your my go to guy for all things Jeep. Very few that really know their stuff in Australia and the good ones cost a fortune. You have solved so many problems for me. Keep up the great work.
I was waiting for this. Thanks for all the info and really appreciate taking the time to explain in detail. In the near future I will be doing a Solid Axle Swap on my truck and will be saving all this info. Long live Nate Garage/show🇺🇸
I can't say enough about how good these videos are! Super informative, and not overwhelming. Nate does such a good job explaining these concepts. Vary good channel
One of the only that can cut the words like, subscribe, and share from the script homie. Your content changed my life, especially 6 months of thought in conjunction of settling for a gm dana 60 low pinion now I'm confident in a passenger drop super 60. Thank you.
Sweet video! helps me understand how to build some R/C suspension setups. i know its not the same as your big vehichles that you drive but still helps alot. thank you for doing them.
@@DirtLifestyle I have been trying but right now the thing holding me up is power. I keep popping the breaker when welding. I need to run power to the garage. I would have an electrition do it but it is so expensive
You make this all look so simple. Every time. Need a passenger side D60 when you have a Drivers side, no problem. Link suspnesion? No problem, building a storage system for the back of a disco, NO PROBLEM. What _cant_ you do?
I’m extremely impressed with this channel. Love the discovery 2 even with its issues. This will be a one of one build for sure. Never gonna see another rig like this and hardly see another build discovery 2. Thanks for the hard work and great vid. God bless.
On the frame side you separate the link distance based on what anti squat and anti dive you are looking for .... less distance between chassis link separation the more antisquat or dive, the more distance, the lower the antisquat or dive
Thanks Nate for all the knowledge. I've been thinking about 3 linking the front of my daily sas'd toyota and I learn more and more from you every video. 👍
I’m just a carpenter watching a fabricator work so I’m no expert. But they make permanent chalk for chalk lines. Cheaper than blue chalk and paint. Not trying to be a know it all and your content is great. Just trying to save people time and money.
Glad to hear you're driving this out to do wheeling. I'm apprehensive to take my offroading to the next level because I need to drive it home. Looking forward to this series! P.S. Thank you for not leaving the music loud when you're talking or blaring some annoying song anytime you do grinding or welding
Such good content made my morning! Excellent attention to detail as always and very cool project. This will be one of a kind very capable overlander rig!
Thank you for the suspension explanation! Building a link setup for the LJ is on my long-term list of projects, so i'm just soaking up the info! Hey.. you wanna come on out to PA sometime and oversee my build? :P Nice work, as always.
Love it man! I'm looking to do a long arm on my TJ when I do the LS swap next year. All the info you provide is great insight and will be extremely helpful. Keep up the great work!
