Chapter 14 is the moment, where all the choices you have made during the game get a conclusion. You will either see a scene with Aerith, Tifa or Barret and it depends on many things.
Here is what I did to unlock these scenes. Tifa has chapter 3 and Aerith has chapter 8, but Barret has no chapter. I took a similar road here as with the dresses - sidequests! But more importantly - Tifa and Aerith's Discover missions "Alone at Last" and "Talking to the Flowers". Each of these is unlocked when you finish all their sidequests in their chapters. Also - Tifa offers you drink, Aerith offers you a flower and Chapter 10 sewer scene moments are the tie breakers.
To get Tifa scene - In Chapter 2, when Aerith offers you a flower, choose "*I'm good". Then do everything in Chapter 3 to get the Tifa Dicovery mission "Alone at Last". Choose a costume (I recommend Mature for research purposes) and finish the chapter. DO NOT DO ANY Aerith's sidequests in Chapter 8. In chapter 10, at the beginning choose Tifa. Now go to chapter 14 and see the Tifa scene.
To get Aerith's scene: In Chapter 2 choose "How much?" when she offers you a flower. In chapter 3, when Tifa offers you a drink, choose "Not in the mood". Skip all the side quests in Chapter 3. In Chapter 8 do everything - all you can. Then you unlock Aerith's Discover mission "Talking to the flowers". Watch that, end chapter and go the chapter 10. At the sewers choose Aerith. Finish the chapter and move to Chapter 14 to get the Aerith option.
To get Barret scene: Doesn't matter the flower or drink options, even the sewer has no meaning. Just do not do any side quests in Chapter 3, Chapter 8 and Chapter 9. Then go to Chapter 14 and watch a clip with Barret.
Sadly you need to play many chapter many times over. Use that to get the Hard mode versions done. Hard mode boss fights coming as well, to help you out. Some of them are nasty as hell.

I was always a Tifa guy, but I guess this proves he’s conclusively he was all about Aerith
pololoco89 I think it shows more about how Cloud is human and can be confused about his feelings and who he loves. I don’t think we can completely say he’s only about Aerith when in Tifa’s scene, he chooses to embrace her and it’s literally like the biggest physical display of emotion Cloud has in the whole game. So Tifa is def still something special to him, but he may be conflicted on who he truly loves, which is why he wants to “have a say”

Cloud and Aerith's scene really hit me. The way Cloud spoke so openly to her made my heart melt. His demeanor towards her has changed so much since they first met and I love that. And the "Do I get a say in all this?" Just hits you, man. But I can also see why Aerith tries to stop Cloud from falling for her, knowing her fate and all that happens.
Tifa's scene brings a tear to my eye. You can really see how much pain she burdens for the sake of doing what she feels is right. She's lost so much in her life, and you can really see how much Cloud is affected by her crying. Im glad he held her, she really needs it, for all she does.
Barret's was the best. Him speaking so fondly of Avalanche members really shows how he sees them as more than just coworkers, but family. The fact he knows everyone he works with by name and observes how they interact with one another shows his more introspectove side and I adore that. Everyone saying Clerith or Cloti gets in the way of their ships, but ya'll gotta watch out for the real one lol
All in all, these scenes are all so powerful. They really knocked these out of the park! Can't wait to see what they do for the Gold Saucer scenes.
Not be that person, but Cloud doesn't say "Do I get a say in all this" in the original dialogue. It's more Aerith reminiscing her "past", having problems accepting her fate and Cloud being like wtf is happening? why is she telling me this?

He pretty much says the same thing in Japanese. A more direct Japanese translation would be "That's terribly one sided", although you have to understand you can't translate things literally between languages so I would say the English version does a good job getting the message across.
Aerith is telling him he can't fall in love with her, but he responds that she can't decide that for him hence him saying "that's terribly one sided".

You can see in his face after she tells him that "he cannot fall in love with her, because it's all in his head (in English "not real")", that he's not disappointed.
Let me make it clear and factual, since I'm not about that mushy nonsense and I like coherence.
Cloud answers with ずいぶん一方てきたな, not meaning "it's terribly onesided", but literally meaning "-subject of the matter- have been on the other side for a long time". It's not Cloud stating his feelings, it's Cloud making a pissed face (while he grumbles at her) like he used to do also at her home when he told her "don't act like you know me"... talking to Aerith and remarking, as he did multiple times in the game, that she's still making assumptions about him, that she's still speaking for him, that's why the "one sided".
In the Japanese version, his voice is not soft while saying that, not longing.
It has a sort of raspiness in it, but sounds breathy, not because he's solemnly "expressing his feelings", but because he's sighing for the umpteenth time in dismissal and frustration. Plus Cloud's face isn't visible in the same way as when he said "I'm coming for you", but they instead pan behind his back.
I did a bit of research about cinematography and not showing a face during a conversation, means distance and detachment...they would have shown his face, if that phrase had some implications, but they didn't and instead focused on Aerith leaving, keeping us completely in the dark about Cloud's facial expressions and mood (not a good sign).
During his next sentence "I'm coming for you" instead, they clearly show his face, it's to show determination (still not romantic given the context of the situation in which they are).
Obviously the localization had to make him say bs, because they don't understand anything about his character and because the translations so far are trash (even that "she's calling out to me, I can feel it", was instead something like "I hear a call" and was also confirmed by the Ultimania to be a Jenova reference, which makes me laugh when I think of all the other misinterpretations that there may be in the game, especially when they get to miss an important thing like that, but again, same old)...not that other languages do better during her resolution.
Some completely twist meanings, miss the track and I'm surprised that the English version, was still pretty accurate to the original. Everything except for that line.
"Do I have a say in all this?" would be a good translation, only if interpreted as "do I have a say in this conversation? (or you wanna talk to yourself some more since I don't understand what's going on here, let alone the fact that you should be at the Shinra building and why are you talking in cryptic...)".
Anyway...let's say there will be a moment in which he's gonna start to like her (which is not the route I see the devs taking, since so far nothing has been hinted at and Cloud and Tifa's bond has been heavily highlighted instead), now is definitely not the moment.
As of now, Cloud doesn't love her and that is not something he would say/ it's completely out of character, especially when you think he doesn't even know her much and Cloud is not your special case of love at first sight...despite a lot of people believing in that bs. The only person who could get him to let loose a bit, would be Tifa and I still doubt he would say something that cheesy (and actually it wouldn't even suit them, especially in the conditions Cloud is now).
Again, to debunk this mistranslation/ misinterpretation, there's not only Tifa's resolution, that the Ultimania already stated as having romantic undertones (even the English translator of the Ultimania pointing it out), but also Barret's resolution.
Now, think that all the scenes happened in 3 parts of the night.
The one with Aerith in the morning before Cloud wakes up, Tifa's in the middle of the night and Barret's right after we talk to Elmyra, before going to sleep.
These resolutions, despite being all unlockable in three different runs (meaning that you should play the game three times and do all that it takes to get all of them), are all canon...
If we didn't have the Ultimania confirming that Tifa's resolution, is indeed romantic though...we would have a hug, that itself could, or could not have these kinds of implications.
And that's when Barret's resolution comes in clutch.
After Barret starts to talk about this Al "pulling the flower trick on Tifa once" and flirting with her, Cloud suddenly raises his gaze towards Barret with a frown, meaning that he's showing jealousy (if you notice there was only one time Cloud actually paid attention to what Barret was saying before he dropped that sentence, but this time, it was the only one in which Cloud had an immediate response, as if he became suddenly interested in the conversation) and waits for Barret for confirmation that Tifa refused this guy's flower (since she didn't reject Cloud's flower and he was curious if she would have accepted it from other guys other than him). His eyes still stuck on Barret, until the latter tells him that "she told him where to stick 'em"(she rejected the flowers) and you can see Cloud finally lowering his gaze in relief and then looking again at Barret with a more relaxed look saying "of course she did".
Well, we basically have 2 resolutions against 1 and the latter, is a resolution that was also really difficult to translate, even for someone who can easily understand Japanese...it's all in the context.
If Tifa's scene is romantic and Cloud gets jealous of her in Barret's resolution, that can just mean two things.
One, the least likely, you have Cloud telling Aerith "do I have a say in all this?"(to remind you that in the Japanese version there's no punctuation, no question mark that might suggest something, it's just a straight up sentence) and expressing his so-called "feelings" for her (after she literally dropped such a weird and confusing line), while the players knows that everything that's happening is an illusion created by Aerith from the lifestream in Cloud's mind and which could also influence people's actions and words (and basically it's not reality).
Or second, Cloud, given the confusing situation and her allusions to something that he couldn't possibly understand, plus finding himself in front of a girl who should not be there... after hearing her say yet another speculation about him, told her that she was assuming again and talking to herself (hence the onesided), since he wasn't understanding anything of what was going on.
I opt for the second and not just most in-character version, but also the most contextualized, given the moment and given all the other resolutions.

I really don't see his response being angry at her. When she said he can't fall in love with her I thought his facial expression conveyed him being hurt rather than pissed.
If I talk about Cloud and Aerith's relationship through the game I felt the chemistry between the two was lovely and I really didn't sense Cloud being angry at Aerith, it was more him trying to seem cool and uninterested, despite clearly falling for her.
But if you think the creators are trying to convey Cloud being angry at Aerith that's fine. Everyone has their own interpretations.
Toriyama also shed more light on Cloud and Aerith's dream sequence. This is from a recent interview:

"What were the intentions behind Aerith's lines: "You can't fall in love with me and even if you think you have, it's just your imagination"?"
A:
Toriyama: "Aerith herself was imprisoned at the Shinra Headquarters at this time. However, through some type of conscience, she is able to use the Lifestream to bring forth an Aerith that has memories closest to the future.
Her words not only are for Cloud, but she might also be speaking to herself as well. Despite what her words request, her true heart and thoughts may be closed off."
Seems pretty romantic to me.

He was just stating for the fourth or fifth time, that she always makes assumptions about him. Being resigned doesn't mean being angry. He got accostumed to her saying stuff that doesn't reflect what he thinks, so it's like any other time.
And his face wasn't hurt, it was rather annoyed or pissed (that is definitely a weird way to express pain).
More like a brother being pissed at his little sister, but then giving up because he knows he can't stop her from being herself.
Aerith from the future has a soft spot for Cloud and that's why the words are for her, as a way to convince herself to let him go, since his real feelings are with someone else and she knows that, she said that herself seconds before, but some people go like "hear no evil, see no evil".
If it was romantic the Ultimania would have mentioned something about Cloud's feelings but it didn't, instead it talked about Aerith conveying a message.
On the other hand, the Ultimania in Tifa's resolution was 20% about her mood and 80% about Cloud's feelings. I can't even remember what was written about Tifa, because I can only recall an entire paragraph about how Cloud was feeling.
There was no "lovely" chemistry between Cloud and Aerith when he keeps sighing everything she says or does, no mutual trust or flirting at all, no moments, no gazes...everything when they were together was pure appearance, Cloud thinking about Tifa while walking around with Aerith and Aerith thinking about Zack for the entire scene in the playground.
Even the developers are tired of people misinterpreting their game and that resolution scene was exactly the one which should make people say "ok, we get it, it's not real...y'all have been saying that since the OG but we never listened".
But unfortunately nope...some people keep deluding themselves to no end and plug their ears to the truth, so there's no point.
Especially if we talk about the cringe of the localization.
Think about this...to keep the unexistent love triangle alive, the localization, had to manipulate facial expressions, take away flirting and loving lines from Cloud and Tifa that are in the Jap version and make up lines with Cloud and Aerith in the Eng dubbing that never existed in the first place.
Clear examples...
In the sewers when you pick Tifa and it seems like she's jealous, but in the Japanese version, she's just asking if they can trust Aerith...
That "she's calling out to me I can feel it", that is actually a Jenova reference...
Aerith saying "mine!" in the English version, in the train graveyard and the american SE team, making Tifa's expression look angry, while in the Japanese version Aerith didn't even say that and Tifa never had an angry expression to begin with, but was scared instead.
But the top one lie, is them making Aerith say "come on, aren't you worried of what might happen in there? You have to help her", on the way to Don Corneo to save Tifa, while in the Japanese version she's best wingman and says "come on! She's important to you, isn't she? you have to help her".
Noticing that when she says the word important (たいせつ-taisetsu), she uses the same word that Elmyra used to talk about her husband.
Funny...I forgot the moment in which Cloud is dreaming about his mother and when she's not actually saying that he should get an "older" girlfriend, but a mature instead, without no age implication.
All lies and deception...and for what? Drama? Sales? Do they think we are stupid and we won't check the actual translations? It's not 1997 anymore, there are some things called social medias.
There are so many other mistranslations that I could fill an entire notebook.
It's all a scam and people are just mistranslating because of either misinterpretation, complete bias, or to fuel drama.
That's how big this lie is.
I'm gonna end it here because these things have always bothered me and I promised myself I would get a break from all this bs they are throwing at us.

Aw now I kinda like Barret's scene more because when he started talking about his pals in Avalanche it kinda gave the group some depth, like they're more than just Jessie and the others, and the way he's reminiscing, the friendly banters with Cloud. Precious.
crmlj This is my problem how Avalanche is portrayed. Even later he says he wish HQ would’ve filed him that they had an inside man kn Shinra. I’m just like “where the hell is HQ lol”
It's even sad knowing that Barret thinks Jessie is dead, like when he was talking about Jessie you can tell he felt more vulnerable
Also, the way Barret's face softens as he talks about them. Yea he may be one BAMF but he sincerely cares about his comrades too. You can feel that for him, Avalanche is fam.

It is the result of Fate being altered so they end up in places they should not originally be. By being in the places they are in FF7Remake, they avoided their original death when the Plate fell thus instead they become injured in these new locations to a point they pass out only but the other only think Biggs and Jessie are dead because they did not check their pulse. Wedge, however, is uncertain if he lives or not because the Whispers took him away in attempt to "fix" his original Fate and have him die.
During the Aerith scene, when she prays, that feather rising in the background. She knows.
Holy Shit. Good eye.

And still I hope there will be a surprise waiting for us.

Sephi's everywhere
At 8:30*. It almost looked like a leaf the first time I went to recheck the scene. I mean, when you first see it most people will miss it since it's so well hidden and the image is mostly in a dark/dark green shade at that point in that exact area... Still the feather "makes sense" for canon since this was the game where sephiroth was everywhere basically... And only having one "leaf" in the entire scene... That also magically disapears behind the post... Kinda suspect if i may say so myself...
But what was this scene? In Tifa and Barret scenes we saw a physical manifestation of sorts, i think... But this is one with Aerith was a dream right? I understand that the way she talks ALMOST implies that *SHE KNOWS* but it could also mean that she knows they are not meant to be together for a whooooole other reason besides her dying in OG (which we know SQ kinda threw out of the window at this point)... And that the feather could be the presence of sephiroth in Cloud's mind, which means, not an element introduced by Aerith right?
I don't get the reference that "She knows." just because of the feather... @Craig Page , could you help me out with that conclusion you got?
It is pretty clear to me the themes of each one of these scenes:
Barret - Friendship, World Building , Trust
Tifa - Acceptance, Loss, Empathy
Aerith - Love, Life, Death, Foreshadowing
The aerith scene ... I’m losing it
Already lost it... and the next game's gonna wreck us all... probably
All 3 scenes are extremely important: Barrett’s scene shows how Cloud has changed during the time he spent with Avalanche, he is not that merc who cares only about money anymore. Tifa’s scene shows a glimpse of the real Cloud, you actually can see him struggling with his made up persona when he is hugging Tifa. Facial expressions are simply amazing. Aerith’s scene is foreshadowing her ultimate fate and is very important for players who were traumatized by her death. She says that she “treasures every moment spent with you” and that you made her happier than you know. It’s a closure we never got in the OG. Sad that you get only one scene, all of them should be canon.

Yeah and i’m sorry for the ladies but Barret scene is my favorite. It show character growth for both Barret and Cloud, and it’s good to see them becoming friends.

Seeing as you killed those watchman of fate, and she seems to realise that she'll die - I reckon there's a chance to save her in the next part.

Aerith 💔 her words were very deep, what she says is not about her, she is trying to make Cloud realize something that hasn't happened yet, he should enjoy the moments with her. She doesn't want him to get hurt.
I think among the 3, whoever's resolution you end up with, Aerith's definitely happened because it's transpired in Cloud's dream. Like anyone can assume Tifa + Aerith both happens or Barret + Aerith both happens. It maybe awkward Cloud waking up 2 times but it's possible that all 3 scenarios happened. Besides, Aerith's scene is supported with Cloud's statement to Elmyra the other morning that she is reaching out to him. :)
I think you can argue they are all "canon" in the sense that they all reveal feelings which exist regardless of whether the player sees them. Barret and Cloud become more friendly, Tifa is crushed by losing things again, Cloud has feelings for Aerith

That's not a dream. It's Aerith manifesting herself before Cloud in some way that is unexplained. A dream can't have information of things you don't know of. In the sequence, Aerith mentions that the Shinra building was her childhood home, Cloud does not know of this yet.

That Aerith scene hits really hard and just foreshadows what is to come. Lot of interesting possibilities about what it really means. Yet again Aerith seems to know this has all played out already.
Barrett’s is nice, with some comical moments that still kinda end up feeling heavy. It’s great.
Tifa’s has the most emotion, and honestly reflects the recent events of the story the best, if I’m being honest.
If only one had to be canon, it would be Aerith’s. It just makes the most sense. It foreshadows what’s to come, it gives you more drive to do what your new main objective is, and utilizes the character that you probably are actually worried about the most at the moment. It has a more important message than the other two and just kinda slides right into the story more naturally in my personal opinion.
They've really done *so* well dialing up the "Aerith is otherworldly and not quite human" vibe. Like, it doesn't make you like her any less but it really, for me, changes the dynamic between her and everyone else in a good way. What originally came off as teasing and even pushing teasing too far, now comes off as what she *is*. She knows more, controls more, and understands more than everyone else and is purposefully keeping Cloud and the others at arm's length because she knows what's up and what's coming.
Makes little sense then that she'd even bother getting so close to Cloud then. But then again, perhaps she just couldn't help herself, due to how similar he is to Zack. Even she isn't immune to her own emotions I suppose.
This. This this this. I think we could even go one step further and wonder if she’s the one from a different time line? Like maybe she’s a part of the lifestream somewhere else so she knows everything already. Everyone keeps talking about Sephiroth being a time traveler, but I really think if there’s any time travel at all, that it’s her.
@SnowCoveredKK ... I think yall are getting WAY ahead of yourselves. First off, she doesn't know all. I think she sees visions and hears things, which is obviously alluded to, but her knowledge is probably limited.
Then again, I bet more will be revealed in this remake. Saying that either of them are time travelers is taking it a bit far tho. There has been absolutely nothing to suggest that either her, Sephiroth or anyone else is capable of traveling through time in any form or fashion.

@@skins4thewin Dude, she touches people and suddenly they know things (looking at Red XIII and Marlene). Something is UP with Aerith. I originally thought that maybe it was just her Cetra powers/being Atune with the planet, but the further into the game I got...the more she started to stand out as something else. But say what you will about the ending, its stuff like this that I love, theorizing about whats to come!!!

Aeriths scene was my favorite. I never played the og game but I know the story and what happens to her and this just had more weight given that it sounds like she knows her fate and that just fucking sucks :( This game was incredible to play through and I’m looking forward to continuing my experience.

End of part 1 very-very clearly tells us that remake won't have same story. I mean there is a whole chapter dedicated to defying destiny. They can't make it more obvious than that. So it is big assumption to asssume Aerith will die. If they were going to follow same story they wouldn't even get into all this stuff in the first place.

There seems to be 2 theories on that; having never played the original (I watched Crisis Core tho) I can't say which is more likely. The first is that she knows her fate and is pretty much warning against it since she knows it will only bring more pain and the other theory is that, due to his memory issues with Zack, she presumes that he 'loves' her because Zack did and that he, himself, doesn't. This is hinted at further with the line "If that's what you really want" when he says he is coming for her, hinting that maybe he does want to save her, as a friend, or maybe his memory issues make him feel devoted to saving her.
Queen Izunia She definitely knows what’s going to happen. Cloud doesn’t have a piece of Zack in him he just thinks certain things Zack did are what he did. An example of this is the fact he had no idea who Aerith was before meeting her at the start of the game. Aerith isn’t the type of person to force people to do things. It’s why she always asks things like “ if that’s what you want”. She knows certain things about the future but seems to keep quiet about it, allowing everyone to take their own path without her directing them to it
I’ma just pretend that all these scenes happened. They are all important and pivotal to the plot I think.
It is really cool that they did this for the Remake. Besides the changes they made to Jessie, this change in particular is one of my favorite. Allowing for the player to learn more about the characters, while also leaving it up to their choice will always be something I appreciate.
My personal favorite would be Aeriths scene. She has always been my favorite of the trio, and that scene showcases why since she is able to draw Cloud out of his socially awkward/introverted shell. I never really got the claims that their relationship was fake ether, since even pre development Cloud behaves nothing like Zack,who is very charismatic and extroverted. Cloud just adopts Zacks memories of the incident, and some of his personality traits like a failed imitator. Aerith is drawn to the similarities at first, but likes Cloud for his differences from Zack.
Here is hoping that Nomura does not make one relationship cannon, introduce a love square with Zach, or not kill off certain characters in the sequel. I always respected the original for largely leaving it up to the player's choices and interpretation of the scenes.
The Impersonator they left in up to the player pretty well like they did with the original however there are characters that have better scenes then others and I prefer zack and aerith
Agree with everything. :) Tifa's an amazing gal, and I think that all the Tifa fans out there are well justified in their choice, but something about Aerith's personality always drew me more. More than anyone else, she's able to get Cloud to open up and sees him for who he really is. (By that, I mean that Cloud is fairly standoffish with just about everyone, even Tifa, clinging to his "grim, stoic SOLDIER" persona, partly because he's afraid/ashamed that nobody will like the real him, especially if they found out the truth.) But with Aerith, it's like he's free to just be himself. No facades, no illusions. You get the sense that Aerith knows about the false persona Cloud's adopted, but it doesn't matter to her.
I think you could reasonably argue that Tifa loves Cloud more (especially looking at the original FFVII and everything she does for him in the later acts), but I can't help but feel that the trust and connection between Cloud and Aerith is something deeper... more pure, almost. Even with Tifa, there's this feeling of expectation to live up to that's absent when it comes to Aerith.
So yes, it's an AMAZINGLY good romantic triangle SE's set up here, and I agree with you; it would be a disservice to the fandom for them to decree that one particular relationship is canon, particularly as RPGs are all about player agency. The "right choice" is the one that YOU made.
@@Zaxares What I particularly like about the love triangle in 7, besides Square respecting the player and their preferences, is that there is no typical soap opera bullshit. Aerith and Tifa are not at each others throats constantly, trying to bitch each other out. Instead, they behave far more reasonable, and occasionally are a bit standoffish.
I know i'm hoping for a lot but I really hope they don't kill of that certain character with these graphics it might actually kill ME

Just got here. IMHO, as some others have said, I think all of these happen in sequence and despite which one you see all are canon.
Cloud first finds Barrett, they have their heart to heart, then head back inside. Then, after settling back down, Cloud hears Tifa, goes back outside, comforts her, then heads back in and finally manages to nod off, at which point he dreams of Aerith. The emotional tone of each fits in that they can all happen and are all important and amazing.
There's a curious difference between 2 languages in Tifa's Resolution here.
When talking about that yellow flower symbolize reunion, Tifa looked it up because she was "curious" in English version, but in japnease version, Tifa actully said that she looked it up for she's "so happy". Why she's happy? Because Cloud gave her a flower.
Seems like Aerith’s dream sequence is the one that’s canon, since it’s the only one shown in the credits. Cloud is also the only one to ask “Is this a dream” in Aeriths scene, and in the others he just talks about not getting sleep.
In the very next scene Cloud also says to Elmyra that "She's calling to me" and that he can "feel her" which wouldn't make any sense with any other option.

Aerith wins hands down. I never knew this is optional when I first played. The Aerith scene hit me like a truck, when she said "...you can't fall in love with me" I bursted in tears. It's a little too late to say this Aerith... like 23 years too late...
Anyways, amazingly done scene (all of them in fact). I love what they did with the characters. And the VA are perfect. Thank you SE for remaking this game.

I think this eludes to the fact that it’s actually the Zack part of him in his subconscious that has feelings for Aerith. When cloud gets his psyche back in the OG, his feelings for Tifa seem to become dominant.
@@idok333odikay Actually, in this scene there is a slight mistranslation in English dub (there are several in this game), apparently what she actually says in Japanese dub is "It's useless", not "It's not real".
The whole scene is great because it leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
There is no such thing as "Zack's psyche". Cloud is Cloud, he just lost some of his memories and "stole" Zack's identity. But since Aerith spoke Zack's name when they were on a date in the park, Cloud started to doubt wether or not his feelings are actually his (they are). One way of interpreting this scene is that there is no actual Aerith there, just Cloud talking to himself in a dream trying to figure out his feelings.

Actually, all these resolutions are canon on its own, but there's a catch that there's the fitting resolution here, especially that it belongs to Cloud. So, my insights:
1. For Barret. We saw how rude Barret is to Cloud from Ch. 1 up to Ch. 10. But on that sequence, Barret realize that Cloud is not really what he knew: Cloud has this gold heart inside the blunt personality. Beginning at Ch. 3, Cloud only wanted his money as the payment of his assistance to Barret's team, but as things went on, good and bad, Barret admires Cloud's personality. Thus, he promised that after all their missions, he will introduce Cloud to his friends. As for him, Cloud is the man anyone that could be trusted. (Though I don't know how to unlock this sequence, even if I am viewing other gameplays.)
2. For Tifa. This is the common one, the easy unlockable sequence, but this hit hard for her. We saw how devastated Tifa is after the fall of the pillar of Sector 7 that resulted of the destruction of their whole place, so she need a leaning shoulder to cry on. We all know that she is indeniably strong, but she's still a human with feelings. What Cloud showed here is what others will do, be there when someone is in pain. Although Cloud didn't speak much, he's still has feelings, and so, when Tifa went near to him and suddenly cried, he felt her pain and hugged her. It may be assumed that Tifa has almost every space on Cloud's heart, but because this sequence didn't have any conversation between their feelings to each other, thus, for shippers, Tifa is not for Cloud at this moment, still.
3. For Aerith. For the many of us, this is the best sequence, for this is the most heartbreaking, and this is the only the dream scene among the three. But the problem is that, we can't really expect that Aerith will be for Cloud at this time, as she told him that he can't fall in love for her, which made Cloud hurt. This confirms that Cloud has this unknown exact feeling for Aerith, and her importance is huge, so he told her that he will come to her, to be all in with Aerith. For instance, Cloud has changed partially 'coz of Aerith, and whatever it takes, he wil protect her at all cost.
Although I want to make some references on Advent Children, Crisis Core, the original or other arcs to justify the differences, the essence and importance of these resolutions stand on its own already, as the Remake is also a canon arc of the huge storyline of FF7. To shippers, there's still more unknown details to unlock and missing pieces needed to fill, to say that Cloud had already found his "best girl and forever," as the Remake didn't focus onto Cloud's feelings, but on the visions bugging him and resolving his identity crisis, so I couldn't have my bias between Tifa or Aerith (or even to Jessie, the other best girl we never had) as of now, until the Part 2 is released already. 🙂

I think they're both supposed to be canon, unlike the love story in FF4, FF8, FF9, FF10 and FF15.

Barret: avoid ALL side quests and that's it, you can do whatever you want with the flowers or the drink at the bar or the sewer choice.
Tifa: do all side quests from chapter 3 and accept her drink. In the sewers, help her first rather than Aerith. To boost this, avoid the side quests of chapter 8
Tbh, all scenes have their own charm. Barret is finally accepting Cloud as a pal and neither of them is talking back aggressively to the other; on the contrary, Cloud is practically speaking with him in a much more friendly manner. Bromance for the win
Tifa's scene is the point of break that everyone needed. It's her catharsis the most natural reaction to those events and watching Cloud comforting her instead of not giving a damn makes more believable their bond.
Maaaaaan... all 3 scenes are beautiful in their own right. The chemistry between tifa and cloud, yet their restraint and hesitation to admit any feelings. The softening of the shells of both Barrett and cloud as they deal with the trauma of what just happened as well as giving more depth to the “background” characters, the unsung heroes in the original version... But the scene with Aerith speaks volumes about the thought, care and effort they’ve put into this remake as well. I feel like people write off this scene, but there’s so much complexity to it as well. When she’s praying and a hint of sephiroth’s feather flies by her, is huge foreshadowing of events to come, that original players will recognize and yet still hope won’t happen. She’s even in the pose, of when *that event* happens. Not only is there the foreshadowing in the image, but the timing of what she says when she’s in that pose “everyone dies” it’s like she sees her own future. Thirdly, even if this is a dream that cloud is having, he is dealing with the inner turmoil he is known so well for, probably feeling responsible for Aerith being taken, and that he couldn’t protect her despite being her “bodyguard”

I have a Love/Hate relationship with the changes they made for Jessie. On one hand, Best Girl, Period! I freaking LOVE her personality in this game, absolutely my type of woman! Bubbly & outgoing, and also straight up honest & direct. I hate having to wonder what a woman is thinking or feeling, love a woman who keeps it 100. And then of course they had to do what they did, ruining it. I REALLY wanted to have her be a potential love interest for Cloud, although I guess she would have gotten in the way of the story. Ah well...
TBH, Cloud and Jessie are my number 2 favorite pair. My number 1 will always be Cloud and Tifa.
While I do think Jessie was great, I doubt she was ACTUALLY interested in having a deep romantic connection with Cloud. Wedge stated that she just kinda flirts for fun. And I bet if Jessie found out Tifa or Aerith liked Cloud she would most likely stop the flirting immediately because it doesn’t really matter to her that much, that’s why I love her LOL

i got the aerith one, and i did all side missions when i got to them in the chapters + discoveries, and then talked to aerith first in chapter 10, and then the aerith scene in chapter 14.

While Barret's is my favorite, I appreciate how Tifa's gives Cloud a chance to emotionally support Tifa. It's something you don't see often in the original (until Cloud returns to himself at least), it's usually the other way around. It's cute, I like seeing Cloud trying to comfort her but not really knowing what to say besides validating her feelings.
I hope that in the upcoming games they capture the most emotional/beautiful moments of the original like Dyne's suicide, Red xiii finding out the truth about his father and Cid finally fulfilling his dream of going to space.
The first scene I got before I found out there were others was the one with Tifa. I'm not gonna lie, seeing her finally break down made me cry too, putting myself in her shoes.

Aerith is literally Doctor strange, those facial expressions ain't happy... she knows clouds fate and she knows what gonna happen if he falls in love with her.
For one, Zack might just have a problem if hes around, That's not even the worst of it though. If our flower girl from the whatever "timeline/universe/alternate bs" Is telling the MAIN protagonist to not even bother with her. I'm not even sure I want to know. That's the worse thing you can say to a man "don't fall for me". 9/10 times we do it anyway. Whats worse is that Aerith is the literal representation of what clouds mother wants for his partner.

I think that's somewhat implied even in the OG. At one point, she does admit that she was looking at him and seeing Zack, so she started looking for the ways that they were different. So she could one day meet "the real Cloud."
Happens in the OG as well. On the Gold Saucer date with her, she says she wants to meet the "real" Cloud and talks about how similar Cloud is to Zack.
Cloud is so messed up, bless. Hopefully we'll get to sort him out in the next few titles.

I got Tifa's scene by doing every sidequest and helping her in the sewer.
aeriths scene was the first one i got it, and it got me so emotional and so pumped to come save aerith from shinra
tifas scene was the second I got and damn it made me cry when cloud hugged tifa and the music kicked in
barrets made me like him so much more and made me realize that barrett now truly considers cloud as a friend.

i just decided to replay this chapter on hard , and saw Aerith on stairs , i was like " whaaat da f***" :D the scene really hit hard in the feelings
I really wish that these scenes weren't hidden behind obtuse choices and multiple playthroughs. I wish the game had at the very least mentioned that the Play Log was a thing that existed so that I could find out about this on my own! There are few things more frustrating and stressfull than finding out about important story content that you missed just because the game decided to leave you in the dark! These scenes are so good!!! Why would you make most people miss them?!?!... Why are most people okay with this kind of game design?? I don't get it...

For Aerith and Tifa, this scene represents how they both feel like they lost Cloud in a romantic Sense.
For Aerith, after saying she will cherish everything about Cloud, she doesn't ask Cloud not to fall in love with her, but rather, is telling him that he cant because whatever he thinks his feelings for Aerith are now, they are not his own and therefore not real.
This Suggests that she knows that the Cloud in front of him is not the real Cloud just like in the gold Saucer scene in the original FF7.
It's Not about protecting him from her death as her desire to fight fate and change the future contradicts that, as well as her request to save the planet puts him in great danger anyway. why protect him one way, but put him in danger in another?
Despite this, Cloud feels like he should have a say in this, but for Cloud to have a true say is to to make Cloud himself again. And since Aerith has a connection to the future, its likely she knows that Clouds hidden feelings and memories for Tifa are what will make him real Cloud.
So Aerith, despite liking Cloud a great deal and knowing he has strong feelings for her at that point, knows that Clouds feelings for her are not his own, possibly knowing what the real Clouds feelings are, and that changing the future wont change what truly makes him Cloud.
For Tifa, She feels she lost because Aerith giving Cloud the flower and being part of his change makes her feel like Aerith is more important to Cloud than she herself is. She already suspected that Aerith was more of a friend to Cloud, and now is when she believes in it. Add that to the loss she already feels because of Shinra and the overwhelming loss breaks her down.
That Cloud had to struggle to hug her represents his deep hidden feelings about Tifa that are a part of him, but currently hidden too deep for him to acknowledge properly.
However, Tifa is not aware of this. in the original FF7, she had no idea just how much she meant to Cloud and his feelings of love for her ever existed until she fixed his mental state in the life stream. Having no idea of Cloud adopting parts of Zack or that Cloud has any romantic feelings for her, its only natural she feels she's lost him in a romantic sense this early on.
She still thanks him for consoling her, but she backtracks so that now they can keep their distance.
While Tifa seemingly backs off because she feels Clouds feelings for Aerith are real, Aerith knows its not the real Cloud that has feelings for her. Both feel like they lost romantically, but only Aerith knows why. No one wins, but its too early in the story to have one.
I think in Aerith's scene, she just showed the future she could see it and show it to Cloud. I think out of the game, this is a Nomura's trick, to make it clearly for the triangles Cloud x Tifa x Aerith, almost from fanfictions, fans choice.
To Tifa, maybe it's a sign for the future of them of this FF7 Remake, looks like it's not based almost in the original because if it's, Aerith was died in the ending of this chapter.
But she wasn't, so i will not be surprise if Zack's still alive in the next chapter. And maybe both of them will dies together by Sephiroth, i tho.
Just remember, this Remake is a new plot.

I heard the real Cloud came out for like 30 seconds to hug Tifa, One more thing he wanted to comfort her since Chapter 13 but didn't know how until he saw Barret do it.
I never knew up till now that the Chapter 14 section had three different options. I knew that the Tifa and Aerith scenes existed. But, not having played the game, I figured it was one scene then the other, given the fact that you're asleep when you talk to Aerith. Speaking of, when Aerith says, "You can't fall in love with me", I saw it as meaning one of two possible things: 1) Aerith warning Cloud not to falli in love with her so as to avoid missing her when she dies. 2) Aerith knows Cloud has Zack's memories. As such, the feelings he has towards Aerith she knows "they aren't real". But, I don't nitpick the scene that much because of how beautiful and haunting it is.

Well if the original game, when you got to Gold Saucer, you could go on a date, with all the girls (Tifa,Aerith or Yuffie) or Barret depending on choices you made throughout the game. I guess this a early version of that. And i hope they keep this in the sequel when you get to Gold Saucer.

You can still do all of them and get Tifa and Aerith. There is a tie breaker where you choose which one of them you go to first in the sewers. Unfortunately Barrets requires you put in almost no effort.
milkyway barret is the no simping route
Do them in order. First no side quest - Barret. Then clean game til Chapter 10. Make 1 choice, go get that scene, then make another choice, go get that scene. Still, even like this, you have to put in the time.
Thing about the Barrett scene is that regardless of how the game portraits Barret, one truth remains: Barret knows he was the catalyst for so many young lives lost. That's one of the reasons he leaves in ACC, aside from looking for another energy source, he leaves to cope with the lives that were lost because of his mission and all the damage that avalanche caused.

if you try your best not to accept Aerith's flower in the start and base everything afterwards on tifa you get tifa's scene.

I got the flower and the drink and did every side quest in every chapter, so I presume that the sewer scene is what changed it for me.
Tifa's scene has such a powerful delivery, and so does Barret's my God!

Ngl, I really think Tifa's is the weakest scene. I prefer Aerith's because narratively it works the best, but Barret's is really nice and fun. Tifa's is just... idk. It's just there in my opinion

She was most likely lying to stop him from going after her, the pained look after she says that, how she quickly turn away and how she reacts to Cloud saying he is going for her pretty much proves that she said that to stop him from falling for her.

I read the description, I did all Tifa quests, Aerith quests, I asked for the flower, asked for the drink. So it came down to who I checked on when they were on the ground in the sewers and chose Tifa and got the Tifa scene.

A lot of times with stuff like this some of them _feel_ more canon than others. For this that’s not the case. Had I played it without knowing, I would’ve assumed any of these were the only ones
It's really sweet that in Barret's scene, when he talks about AI giving flowers to Tifa, Cloud immediately responded with an alarmed look, and then he is relieved when he knows Tifa rejected it. Even within the Barret's scene, you can find these little details that show just how much Cloud cares about Tifa, and he's not okay with other guys approaching her in a romantic manner.
He does that quite alot in the game. Always having a knee jerk reaction to anyone who shows signs of affection to Tifa. The problem is that Clouds feelings for Tifa are buried too deep inside of him to recognize it as affection, so he develops more of a liking to Aerith. Even so, sometimes it feels like Even Aerith knows of the romantic potential between Tifa and Cloud, and if she knows the future, she's probobly giddy at seeing their build up.
So in other words, they're implying that Aerith is somehow different in this game than she was in the original game? Perhaps she's just an entity of some kind in this version? I can't wait til the story continues so we can find out for sure!
I got Tifa on my playthrough. I'd say Barrett's one is the best though.
I figure Aerith was referring to his feelings being a stamp from Zack. The way she said, "even if you think you have, it's not real" when she said about loving her. Then when she followed up to his determination of coming to get her, she stated "if that's what you want". She knows Cloud's messed up and his head and heart are mixed up with Zack's memories.
Edit: Y'all aren't understanding what I'm saying. I'm saying Aerith is referring to Cloud's feelings as not is own because SHE knows something is off, that he somehow has Zack's persona of a soldier. Cloud's feelings are his own, but he is influenced a bit by the persona he believes is his own.

@@combatmaster Because he took the 1st class identity from Zack and thinks that his actions were his. He didn't absorb his soul and feelings or whatever people are saying. He just deluded himself to thinking he's 1st class, not that he's LITERALLY Zack.
It’s hard to say what she really meant by “it’s not real” when in the Japanese version she says along the lines of “it’s useless.” Perhaps discouraging him from getting too attached to her and being broken after her death which he blamed on himself. Aerith probably does know what happens in the future in the OG story, but their fate is unknown following the events in the last two chapters of the remake. Cloud was fcked up because of the events that happened in the past, and took on some memories of Zack (where he was also present) but he still has his own conscious and feelings. He didn’t know Aerith nor recognized her even after their first encounter either. Although Cloud reminded Aerith of Zack, she knew something was wrong with him and wanted to get to know the real Cloud. This was stated in the OG story. Zack and Cloud did not treat Aerith the same. Zack knew how to treat a lady. He was a lady’s man. Lol Cloud is awkward af.
