Honestly, mistakes help us learn many valuable lessons. I learn from my own as well as others. Love the mold. I did the same thing ... Made a mold that didn't turn out right. So I cut it up into small chunks and saved it to use when making another mold. I was able to use less new silicone, and everything came out great! I will be extra careful now when using pigments. Have an awesome evening! Hi to George. 💓

I’m still not brave enough to make my own moulds yet. I have done small things with moulding putty but that’s all so far. Plus it’s a big expense when on a very limited budget. I live vicariously through you and Wendy. 😂

I tend to work in various crafts. I make jewelry, flip furniture, repurpose items, sew, etc. When some decorative trim is missing on furniture (or in my home), I use a hot glue gun to create a mold of intact trim. I fill the mold with Bondo and create replacement trim. When hardware is missing I also make hot glue replacement knobs. I make hot glue molds to create unique jewelry components - finials on top of lamps often make beautiful earrings and necklaces. I have used hot glue to make numerous molds. If this idea appeals to you maybe check ebay for bulk glue stick listings. I use a lot of hot glue. I am on a fixed income so my eye is always on the budget. Even before retirement I enjoyed searching for deals and unusual ways to stretch a dollar. (With the price of eggs I was happy to discover applesauce is an acceptable substitute when baking. So far no one has noticed. I Google'd it to discover that nugget.)

Love this video, I’ve made my own moulds and it takes some working out, I’ve made some successful pot moulds but recently tried to make an egg mould but didn’t give a thought to the thickness of the walls. The mould was ok but when I cast it, the egg I was making just broke like an egg shell. I laughed out loud in my cabin that the neighbours must have heard me! Doh! Must think harder next time! Thank you Claire, you inspire me greatly 😊

I've an idea in using Let's Resin mold housing. What if you used it, but for one of the long sides (& maybe a short side, too?), then placed one or two internal walls using the foam board and hot gluing it onto the housing? That would cut down on how much silicone used, & may be less fiddly for you?

I had a mold a friend brought from UK to USA. It wasn't really a mold - but held small chocolates in shape of traditional Northwest Clogs. Years ago I made plaster pins for my Morris team. I can't find it in all my craft supplies - I might have to take my little pin and make a mold. Then make several resin clogs so I can make another mold of several clogs at once. I really want to find my old "mold" rather than make new molds

Hey sorry to interject here! After securing the master item in the mould housing, you can pour water into the mould box, then pour it out carefully into a jug to give you an accurately measured quantity of silicone to mix. Just let the mould and item dry thoroughly again before you start mixing up! :)

No not perfect...I personally love shiny. I molded things at first not realizing they were dating or matte.. errrr now I only mold things perfectly shiny. You can easily make thing matte from shinny. But going matte to shiny loads harder to do. I adore making molds and inlays. I am not good enough to sell them but it is addicting. I have always added old worn out molds cut up to my new poured molds. Love not wasting things. It does save by doing that. Plus keeps old silicone out of the trash. I have even cut up cheap molds that are not soft and moist. 8 put thin layer in first let cure then add chunks and fill up remainder of mold. I have got silicone kitchen utensils and silicone hot pads that I have cut up and used in molds also. Silicone sticks to silicone. Make sure you wash well with Greece cutting soap and let dry thoroughly but still works. Sorry I got so long with chatter but wanted to give you things I have learned. hugs my friend loving your videos...Sheryl from Greenwood Indiana 💙🎨💙
