Hey Edna, I'm a guy, but retired, and actually love all kinds of clay and resin art. I own a kiln and just really enjoying myself on everything. I simply just love the way you absolutely make it sound so easily and especially inexpensive. there is really no reason to be too fusy, I mean aren't we all just to really let ourselves go and be as expressive as we can be. Buying a few things, like the resin, is really kind of expected, but learning from everybody online, like you, helps in so many ways, to be kinda assured that we can do it, and have fun doing it as well. I love it all your doing, please keep making the videos, I will be waching. Thanks Brad
I so agree bradley, its the best use of free time :) Thanks for your lovely comment and sorry for the late reply, I only just got back fro holidays with the family. Summer is officailaly over, so more time to film and edit :)
😅
Ooooh I need a friend with a kiln! Lol ❤
This video is straight forward, no nonsense, LOGICALLY thought out and BRILLIANT! Thanks much for sharing!
My pleasure, thanks for watching and your lovely comment 😍
Agreed..no fluff..just what you need to know! Thank you!❤
I have an electric neck massager that has two flat massage rollers. Once I have poured my silicone I turn the massager on low and set it on the table for a minute. I’ve found it helps the bubbles rise to the top and pop. Works like a charm.
Great tip!
Brilliant idea!
It doesn’t matter what it is, if it vibrates, it chases the bubbles away. My big back massager that sits in a chair works GREAT!! Thanks for the great tip!!
This is by far the best video I've found on UA-cam! Thank You!!!!
Oh what a lovely comment, thanks Carolyn 😘
Ohhhhh Lego!! Right up my alley, we have a huge rubbermaid bin full to the brim!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
🤣 my son too, that's where I got them from 💞
Watching from a very cold and wintery Durban, SA. We've cancelled our beach day this weekend due to the weather, and now I know exactly what we'll be doing. Much love.
I do decorative Concrete as a side-gig and the wife does custom jewellery, so we love working on projects that we both have a shared interest in.
Hi from From France, welcome 🙏 I love concrete 😉
Nice job :) love the Lego idea… seen that done on another channel too…. The plasticine is great to make moulds with as well… what’s really cool about it is you can use it as models for the moulds too… I needed a border that resembled broken rock for this clock I was making.., so I used plasticine to make it… I used strips of cardboard to create the long box and then pressed the plasticine down into it…. Then I took a bunch of different shaped flat rocks and pressed them down into the plasticine… I removed them and the. Did it again until the entire strip had been used up… it was approximately 4 feet long and a mere 3 inches wide and about a 3/4 inch deep… MUCH cheaper than buying the same rubber stripping on amazon… that bloody thing was over a hundred bucks! I was like, I can make that myself for less than half that price…. Turned out PERFECT…. I love making my own moulds… it’s amazing what you can make with the silicone rubber….
So true, 💯 my favorite and easiest method is cardboard, I keep all boxes that are delivered and I precut them into straps ready for the next time. If you stick the base onto double sided tape, I don't even need to glue gun the outside. 👌😊
@@EdnaWargon yep! My garage is full of broken down boxes from Amazon … I have this gigantic box that my new recliner had come in and another one that my new oven had come in… both of those are completely filled with broken down boxes… I make all sorts off containers for making moulds… I love using double sided tape! It is the best thing ever for it… between that and cardboard from Amazon boxes, I've got endless mould making materials!!!
Using the legos is genius
Thank you for this video. I'm more interested in how you made a chrystal edge coaster blank for the newer Larimar tecniques.
Thank you so much for this very easy and comfortable video. Your pace and tone mixed with your skill makes it a joy to learn from you. I've been making and seeking resin art for 4 years now but haven't made my own mold yet, but i will now, you've inspired me . Peace

I always wondered how to make silicone molds. Now I know! Cool!
Awesome!!! Thank you!
awesome! I bought some Let's Resin silicon to make a mold, I used an inexpensive plastic food storage box to hold the master and the silicon.... wow! it took two boxes (at $18 each!) and weighs a chunk! these methods are so much more efficient and cost effective. I could have bought several pre-made molds with those dollars. thank you, thank you, thank you!
You're welcome 😊 🙏

This stuff is excellent at releasing bubbles all on its own. I’ve never done any bubble removal methods and never had an issue with bubbles in my molds.
Thanks for tutorial Edna 🌸

Thank you so much for the amazing I was wondering where did you get the molds for the roses 🌹 Ty 🇨🇦❤️
Aliexpress 😉
Thank you for a very helpful and life-saving tutorial I really liked the cardboard square method and the legos which are available in any house. I have a question and anyone can help me out. I am trying to make a mold for an earphone case cover. making a mold for the exterior of the cover is easy enough. I just have to surround a protected earphone case with silicon. However, the tricky part is how to make the mold for the interior and obviously inserting silicon inside the case cannot only damage the device but is not going to take the shape needed. I hope I make myself clear and if someone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.
Is that high temp silicone gasket maker? If so, what do you use to thin it and how long does it take to dry?
❤❤❤
Great tutorial. Can you tell me what shore values are the best for molds for resin and molds for concrete please?
Around 20
Thank u so much edna this video was much needed . Would definitely try this . Can u plz guide what are the qualities to see buying the best silicone to achieve the shiny moulds as i have bought few from Ali express but those are less shiny and they don’t give the best results.
The shine if your mold depends on how shiny the original item that you are casting in silicone. If the original you want to copy is not shiny or smooth, your silicone mold will not be shiny.
Nice video, thanks! How do you understand the hardness of a silicone, do you use a durometer? If so, which one?
You go by the shore number in general. The higher the number the more hard it is.
Thank you. How would you make a mould from a carved Victorian era wardrobe and desk? I don't want to ruin them either I use them it's designs I want from them.
Hi this was a brill teaching video. I would like to make a bubble round silicone mold. Do you think it would be OK to use the little glass half pebbles to make the bubbles xx
As long as you stick them together first, maybe some glue?
Question for you. What is the black clay stuff you used around one of the molds? Where did you purchase it? Thank you
Plastercine
Thank you so much!! What kind of clay do you use?
any clay will do, just not air dry clay.
I enjoyed your video.
Thank you 😊 💓
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Curious whatever happened to the first mold with the Legos? Thank you for sharing so much great Information.😊
HI, as I said in the video, I put them on my Instagram as reels :) instagram.com/reel/Cd6CPkXMtLP/?igshid=MmU2YjMzNjRlOQ==
Hello Mrs Edna !
I would like to make huge snowflakes molds, between 20-40cm. Should I use cardboard to make the prototype for the rubber mold? Which type of material should the prototype be ?
Thank you in advance !
Hi. If you use cardboard for the prototype and then use resin in the molds, your snowflakes won't be shiny. Acrylic is the better choice as it's shiny.
Thank you for the tutorial! Since this silicone is translucent, do you think that it would be possible to make a two-half mold and cure UV resin inside it?
I think it would work with uv resin, most transparent silicones work.
Thank you for the tutorial. ❤It was very helpful. I did my first silicone mold two days ago. Everything was good but the silicone surface which was down on the sticky tape is still very sticky. 😢The upper side is ok. Do you have any idea why?🤷♀️ Thank you for answer.
It's the sticky tape, try just taping the bottom down. If not try changing brand of tape.
Question: is there anything we can do with the silicone we trim off? Can it be melted & reused? Also, what kind of double-sided tape are you using?
Not really, not you can't melt it down, but you can use it cut up into bits and fill the mold up with newly mixed silicone.
💖
You don't need to spray the masters with any mold release?
not when using silicone, no
Can you make table legs molds? or how tall can a mold be made
ive never made a mold that big but I think as long as you use enough silionce so the mold is rigid you can make it as big or as tall as you need :)
