Claire. Always, taken chances, and working it through….. 😮😮I’m not quite confident in making large molds yet. I hope we can continue to learn more about creating them….
Can you use the silicone chunks, broken up even more, as filler in your resin pours? As long as the silicone is covered on all sides it won’t shake loose right?
Making my own molds is what I want to do. I do believe it is worth the minute expense to invest and create exactly the molds you need and will use again and again. Unlike purchasing molds that do not meet your specific criteria. 😻 Thank you Claire for sharing this process. 😻
I recently tried silicone mold making and unfortunately bought way too small amount. One thing I did learn was to respect the rules of volume! You probably would have been a lot happier with your final mold being round instead of square. Lots of "wasted" silicone in those corners! Great video! I'm going to have to try it out again 😁
I think the issue with your silicone not binding together in the first mold is likely because you use mica powders to color your silicone. I do know that mica powder doesn't stick to other mica powder (you can't layer it in projects). If you used a liquid type of colorant, I'd bet it would work out. I do know that alcohol based dyes work well in resin because they don't mess with the reaction of the resin, They may be the best bet for silicone as well.
Beautiful mold Claire. Thank you so kindly for sharing your tip about the silicone not sticking to silicone. I will always not add colors now. So looking forward to seeing Saturday's video. I got stuck in a second hand store today. Wow lots of seashells from around the world being donated lately. Im buying them all. Lol 25 big shell bowls to do resin in was part of todays find. Take care Beautiful ❤ xoxo
I'm so glad you posted this! I've had someone ask me if i could make a resin pansy/plumeria ring vase. I have searched everywhere and can't find a mold for one. I've been trying to brainstorm how to make the mold and need HELP please! She's been patiently waiting as I totalled my car not long after she asked me and I haven't been able to work on anything for about 6 weeks now. My brain is still scrambled from the concussion so if anyone has any ideas that theyd like to share, I'm open to suggestions! ❤❤
Watching this for the 3rd time. Claire I will put something into the center silicone mold to use as a casting mold.2 for 1 project. If you get my drift. Buttons , butterfly, hearts, some kind of something to make a reusable mold from that silicone. ❤
This mold is stunning Claire ! I'll never add color to my silicone now3😄😄😄 I don't know that colored silicone does not stick to silicone ! Thank you for sharing !
Thanks for this video - I am going to order the mold structure. I have used the silicone to make an elephant trinket dish…turned out very cute. Thanks again! 🌟
Use the extra silicone pieces for different shapes, designs or what-nots in resin pieces and then take them out of the finished pieces (as long as the piece is shallow enough) Or use them for UV resin or 2-part resin just on it. Or if there are flat pieces you can use for sticky mats.
Great idea Claire and I can confirm that even same colour old silicone does not adhere to new silicone. I had the same problem - running out of silicone which I had coloured so I added some old pieces ( same exact colour) and it did not work. I thought the silicone was "bad" and dumped the lot. Now I know it's happened to your project, I guess it's a "thing".
What was the cleanup like for the containers you used to mix the silicone? And is it safe to wash in the sink and go down the drain or is that a non-no?
Hi Claire! Have you ever thought about using vinyl or contact paper (adhesive shelf or drawer liner) instead of tape? It’s similar to tape, but is much much larger so no tape lines!
Hi! Were the green bits of silicone that came out the purple silicone sticky or anything? I was just thinking maybe that’s a good way to make a 2 part mould instead of using clay 😊
I like simple design moulds tht can be used in many ways and you just made a new one like that out of an old one. I'd never come up with that idea! Pity about the dyed silicone.
You make me cheer up every time.❤ I've signed up for your new channel, too. I he e a couple of silicone items I want to make molds of. Going to try tons of mold release spray. Love your mold making activities!
😂I'm so glad you went back and put on the missing bull dog clip, I cant explain how much anxiety that gave me wondering if you did or not. I rewound the video a few times to double check 😂 now I can sleep Xx
The reason you have ripples from the tape is that you are applying it wrong. Lay the tape down on the desk, sticky side up, let it fall flat, then push the item onto it.
I want to buy the lets resun mold making plastic kit. Using your affiliate link...however the US affiliate link is not in the description box. I looked at a couple videos searching for it and did not locate.
I’ve been looking for this video on mound making wasting product etc. So thank you❤
fantastic tips and tricks and I had no idea about the coloured silicone not sticking to itself 😱
It's crazy ay 😫😫 at least we know
I adore # Let's Resin My absolute favorite brand for everything.
nice of you to share

Love the idea of making my own molds!! This looks amazing and so much easier than I thought.
Thank you so much Claire!!!

Thanks for the tip how to clean the let's resin mold....I have always the problem to get of the rest of the tape 😅
Gosh, I'm so glad you got there in the end but what an exhausting process! Looking forward to seeing what you make with this gorgeous new mould :)

Claire I have just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it. Your laugh is so infectious and your enthusiasm keeps me coming back for more 😂
Love diy molds! Cant wait to see the bowl that you make
So excited for the next video 🎉❤
Lovely, I use an electric mincer to break down my old silicone and reuse it ✔
That is something I was thinking too .. like break it down down .. into tiny bits
@@ClairesCraftyCorner yes there is a short video , I done of it on my channel

Absolutely .. if I had a round mould housing that would have been great. 😍😍 you can add things in the corners to mould
Thank you for sharing this. Your successes and failures are very helpful to see and learn from. Can't wait to see what you make on Saturday!

Hooo, hello, you're a life saver!! I going to try thid, i've been looking for days how to make this!!! thanks again.
Hi Claire this was very clever, great idea 💡 great process 😍 looking forward to seeing your bowls 🥰 thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
You are so awesome, Claire! Thank you for this amazing tutorial!!
This is amazing! Can't wait to see how the bowl turns out on Saturday. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing Claire. ❤
Thanks for all the tips. I had no idea coloured silicone wouldn't work. ♥
Thanks JayElle lively same here 😢😢😢
Such a cool idea putting an old mold to upper the level of silicon! Gorgeous, thank you! ))
So glad you found it helpful ❤️❤️
Probably not the color Claire. More likely some kind of contaminant, such as dust. Silicone seems to attract everything but money and men.
Silicone chest implants have been known to attract some 😂.
Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg love this
@@maiaallman4635 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMFAO 😂
Thanks for all of the info in this video ❤❤❤
Hi Claire, WOW my goodness you are an absolute genius loved the way you made your mould 👍 I cannot wait to see you use it on Saturday 🤗❤️
Wow,seeing you doing multiple things inspires me so much🥰🤗

Ohhhhhhhhh my goodness so sorry that happened 😢😢😢 sending lots of love
Good to know about the silicone. Thanks! Nice mold
Could you have put a domed layer of silicone like a coaster which would bond & then use it the other way up so you dont get the ridges from the tape?
Ohhh yesss that could have worked 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you for this awesome share

Nice mold.
This is awesome, Claire! Thanks for showing us. 👏🏻😁
This mold is stunning Claire ! I'll never add color to my silicone now3😄😄😄 I don't know that colored silicone does not stick to silicone ! Thank you for sharing !
Thanks you. Interesting that the silicon did not stick to itself. It does makes sense though. Changing the structure by adding colorant. ❤
Heyyyy Maddie yes that's exactly it ... I totally didn't think about the change 😢😢
Thanks for this video - I am going to order the mold structure. I have used the silicone to make an elephant trinket dish…turned out very cute. Thanks again! 🌟
Claire this is genius ❤
OMG thank you! I did not know about the colored silicone and I was saving bits and pieces just for this. Now I’m not. Thank you again!
You sweetheart, are genius! Loved this tutorial and definitely want to try this out. Thank you hun! Hugs from Western Australia ❤
Thank yoooooo so much Rechelle 😍😍😍😍😍
So grateful that you make the mistakes so I don't have to! 🤣 It's safe for me to try this project now. thanks Claire

Maybe a silly question, but can this mold form beused for much smaller items and simply not filled as high?
Have you tried using the double-sided tape to put the housing onto a clear acetate sheet? No sticky residue, and the acetate is reusable.
Hey, Claire. Question…Do you ever craft just for yourself without filming it?
Heyyyyyy Diana ... rarely but yes xxx very rarely nowadays but I do sometimes just sit and do watercolour painting and a lil resin 😍😍
Stunning as always 😍 Claire 😊
Such a great video. Thanks.
❤️❤️❤️ thank yoooo

I've never used silicone, but does an uncoloured silcone pour usually stick to already cured uncoloured silcone?
@@Rupunzelsawake I believe it depends on the brand of silicone but I really don't know which brans works
Oh wow, great idea, so where would one obtain the big white mold, or is that home made as well?
What was the cleanup like for the containers you used to mix the silicone? And is it safe to wash in the sink and go down the drain or is that a non-no?
Hi Claire! Have you ever thought about using vinyl or contact paper (adhesive shelf or drawer liner) instead of tape? It’s similar to tape, but is much much larger so no tape lines!
Heyyyyy lovely .. I haven't tried contact paper .. my cookie cutter isn't good enough that's why I use tape so I can wrap it around fully
Hi! Were the green bits of silicone that came out the purple silicone sticky or anything? I was just thinking maybe that’s a good way to make a 2 part mould instead of using clay 😊
Thanks
What was the brand of transfer tape please? I am thinking of trying silicone
Success!!!❤
What was the transfer tape u used I'm scared to buy one that leaves sticky lol
Actually, that's not a fail but a great idea if you want to make a mold of a mold - just color the silicone!👍
I like simple design moulds tht can be used in many ways and you just made a new one like that out of an old one. I'd never come up with that idea! Pity about the dyed silicone.
can i do this method for making a bread silicone mold?
The silicone I used comes in a pink colour, I don’t know if it would work with tat

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ohhhhhh there's no way I would leave that off 🤣🤣🤣
Well then would the colored silicone stick to colored silicone? Or encase it totally in your mold?
I'm thinking yes if the mould is deep you could Bury it
The reason you have ripples from the tape is that you are applying it wrong. Lay the tape down on the desk, sticky side up, let it fall flat, then push the item onto it.
use contact paper to stick your mild to. there won’t be any lines
I am going to try that .. im just worried that my cookie cutter isn't perfect so it may not create the perfect seal
Can we remove bubbles with a blow torch?
Yes absolutely 💯 but not in a mould like this ... you would need a heat gun xx torches are fantastic for flat surface work xx

Hi Claire sorry I’m late
For me this was a bit too long
too much waste of silicon rubber
