The clone concept of not knowing who the original is, is a key aspect of some bad guys called the Mauler Twins in the Invincible comicbook series and it’s actually so interesting that Karl thought about that dilemma, I like Ricky Gervais at times but he really doesn’t give Karl enough credit for being intelligent in his own way

gotta say, that "how would I know which one I was" is smarter then the other two guys got. he specifically asked "does he know what I know"; so basically asking "is it really and exact copy in that moment down to the knowledge and thoughts". in that case the question makes sense, because both versions would think they are the real one and both versions wouldn't want to end whatever that existence would be at the end of this one day.

What he is trying to say about jellyfish and octopi is that they appear, move and act alien compared to most other living species, which is true. The Clive Warren idea was part of S04 E06 Black Museum in the Black Mirror series. When he tried to "see" his toe without using his eyes he was trying to do a type of meditation. I also understand his questions regarding our consciousness and the awareness of our own existence. The way he expresses it though is utterly hilarious and no one in the world takes the mick out of someone like Ricky Gervais. The way he worded it made it sound silly... as if he was witnessing both copies of himself from an outside perspective and had no way to know which of the two brains his mind belonged to... but I gathered his meaning straight away. He really is a philosopher... albeit an incredibly uneducated one lol. Karl's propensity for philosophical thinking mixed with his simple upbringing is what makes him so precious... he must be protected at all cost. Everyone in the comments is saying karl is a genius askinghow would he know if he was the clone, but that's not at all what he asked he asked "how'd I know which one is me?" Which is implying karl meets his clone and then goes 3rd person.

Karl is actually a genius. Why are they saying he’s dumb?

i definitely think if karl had reasoned by saying, 'how would i know if i was the original?' it would have been much better

The clone one seemed ridiculous but it makes some sense. If the clone is exactly the same and has all the same memories, how can you be sure ur the original?

The last point is quite a genuine stance in philosophy. I mean both you and your clone will claim to have experienced your past, but only one was physically there. If the clone were physically identical, there would be no way to distinguish the original!
