      1000s dude. got to any clay, coal, shale, flint, limestone and sandstone deposits. A complete dino or marine animal like this is rare. but still entirely possible. Fossils are much more common than you would think. Also if your in the south of the country you have even more of a chance!

      @@t1n4444 When I was in primary school the teacher was concerned about my reading age, they told my parents that I was a year behind the rest of the class.
      This confused my parents since they knew that at home I was reading dinosaur books with words half the width of the page.
      They told the teacher and my "official" reading age went from a year behind to very much advanced and I was excused having to read "Janet and John" innane drivel.
      Where this wee take going? First font underestimate kids, second the past 2 years has clearly demonstrated that persistent dumbing down of technical topics has had a seriously detrimental effect on society.

    I assume lack of exposure to air is what preserved it. If that’s the case, is this area undergoing that recent and rapid a rate of erosion, for it to have been discovered so easily? Just seems very unlikely that it could exist in sloshy, shifting mud for that long and still all be in one place, and in the correct anatomical arrangement.

      @@siedliko exactly and the continents” formation was so different , too. This sea creature literally died and fell to the bottom of the ocean and got covered by different layers. Given that mud is super preserving because no oxygen can impact the decay, it’s a bit like with the fossil sea shells and fishes in the Himalaya region, eventually these things come to our current surface.

    Carbon dating is inconsistent. The results often differ per test.

      Thankfully we don't use carbon dating on fossils, because they don't contain carbon.
      Carbon dating works perfectly fine when applied appropraitely to *organic* material no older than 50,000 years.

    It used to be that news reports would give you supportive tidbits in the story, whether real or not, to advance plausibility and to educate. These days, nobody has or wants time for that. They just toss out some BS and expect us all to believe it. They don’t even pretend anymore

      This is not "giant" lol....they've had Icthyosaur skeletons for over 200 years, and the largest are twice this size. Just because the media hypes something, does not mean you should turn off your brain.

    OKAY some may be wondering how could they say the exact year the about remain (dragon) because of RADIOCARBON DATING we say it by measuring the amount of CARBON 14 present in the remain and they will compare to a standard data for age they finally conclude that this was these many years and that's how it works thanks to science
