I studied Capt Mantel’s service record. A veteran of the Normandy invasion and Operation Market Garden flying a C-47 towing gliders. He was awarded the DFC and Air Medal with 3 oak leave clusters. I can’t believe this is a pilot who was inexperienced in observing objects and loose situational awareness. It’s sad that the government would basically “throw him under the bus” to deny everything.

Captain Mantell a WW2 vet who flew C-47s over Normandy on the early morning hours of D-Day to airdrop the 101st Airborne. Also, towing a glider in operation Market Garden where his plane was shot to hell and on fire from German anti-aircraft fire but he refused to release the glider early and had his crew fight the fire, they then released the glider on target and then Mantell piloted the heavily damaged plane back to base.
That guy???……They we’re saying that guy mistook Venus for a UFO?….I don’t think so.

Interesting military and UFO strange incident stories, I might add that in 1987 five police officers and I saw a UFO at 4 am it made the same violent zig zag movements two miles to each side, almost right above our heads and it was a light bigger than a star, the strange thing is that I was the one who saw the object first and when I told my colleagues that's when it started to make its strange show, I can say that it waited for everyone to see it to move at an extraordinary speed and return to the same point, I remember that he did it twice and then continued on the same path, another came after him but he did not move like that. It is the first time that I see in a video something very similar to what I observed 35 years ago, and I cannot forget it.

I witnessed a typical metallic 'alien' craft just hanging in the sky above me..very close up back in 2010. If this happens to you (for real), you just have to live with it for the rest of your life. While I feel kinda honoured to have seen such an amazing sight, I sometimes feel like I want to explode when people joke around the subject. This amazing vehicle tilted down toward me..& shot straight up so amazingly fast..I reached out to grab on to a nearby wall, as I thought I was falling backward ! No drink ! No drugs ! No mental illness ! Just fact !

I believe it. I’m 38 years old and when I was 18 me and a friend where driving home from a baseball game. As we where driving through the country and just about home a triangle shaped object slowly hovered just over tree level across the road, stopping in the middle of the road above us and slowly reversing in the same path it came from. I’d say it was the size of a school bus triangular. Neither of us got excited and as soon as it was gone just broke silence and said did you see that!? Yeah I did said Chris my friend. Crazy when it happened we where both so off guard that we never said anything until after it happened.

@@neverwinta4831 I can only say that 10/20 mins prior to witnessing the 'craft' hanging above me, I noticed a group of 4/5 'humanesque' people who appeared to be looking for something in the small wood I was walking through. Upon noticing me, one of these broke off & walked through the brush over to me. He / She ? just kept staring & passed me by. I said something like 'How ya doing' ? but this individual never answered. I did NOT feel threatened. I just thought they must be some sort of weird cult hanging out. They were not there when I came back that way & I did not notice any 'craft' at that time. It was only 10 / 20 mins later that I looked up...& there it was ! They were all dressed alike. two piece silvery/gray outfits / no helmets. Shoulder length fair hair / androgynous features. My family and I saw these things over the Adelaide hills in South Australia in the mid 70s. When they sped up they glowed brighter and duller when they slowed down. They would fly from left to right stop and then drop to the ground they reminded me of an eagle swooping down on it's prey. One night we saw a light blue triangle with what appeared to be khaki bubble like windows three on each side of the triangle and 2 red-orange what looked very much like solar panels attached at the rear. It was fully illuminated the whole thing was glowing no separate individual lights. I got a good look at it with binoculars and could see every detail. It was very high up no sound possibly in orbit witch would have made it huge possibly a mother ship to the smaller craft it flew slowly in a westerly direction and past right over head.

Then again in the late 80's or early 90's on a cable show on a channel like, The Discovery Channel, TLC, or History Channel. I remember them saying that they found a lot of tiny holes in the body of the aircraft from the front behind the prop along the top, bottom and both sides, up to a few inches ahead of the of the cockpit and along the leading edges of both wings, that they were unable to explain. I know the body was intact and no holes was found on the body.

When I asked him if he had ever disclosed that he had seen any UFO's (after my sighting not long before), he told me "It's an unwritten rule, pilots who wish to remain on flight status and continue flying, do NOT report seeing UFO's." I nodded and left it at that.

I'm no pilot, but the object's flying pattern seems reminiscent to scouting flights. The way it "touched down" makes me speculate that the UFO was scanning for something, perhaps identified what it was looking for and promptly "tagged" it somehow. Mineral deposits perhaps? Just a theory.

I just can't see a trained pilot basically playing with death just to find out what this metal flying thing is, how would he get any discovered information back to the men in KY? It’s certainly an intriguing occurrence, with so many trained and experienced aviation personnel and the aspects which seem to rule out any astronomical or traditional terrestrial aircraft of the times or even today.
I may be wrong but a rough idea of G force for the turn would be approximately 12.4 Gs, pulled in a 500mph, 5 mile loop. Even with today’s flight suits, that would be rather bad news for the pilot.

i absolutely believe this because ive seen these orbs twice now myself , 4 years apart , they are real things and exactly like described in this story , even its movements , no sound and color at night sounds the same as my experience with these orbs , I seen two together at night very very close few hundred feet away , and one floating over my house 4 years later in the day this time , looked like a stainless steel ball. Very very strange to witness , my mother , her friend and my son also witnessed them.

He got a lucky 5sec burst into the craft, he's relaying everything he's doing to the tower, there are 3people, actually he just says people, not how many. The ,3venusians never expected to be fired, upon their defense shields were down,
there were many witness's, this happened over the Goodnam airfield, they watched the craft float to the ground in ever deminishing circles,
They were startled to see Mantels craft exsplode, an break up, in a bright blue, flash (the venusian craft responded automatically) an fall to the ground, about a mile from the end of the runway,
when they reached the wreckage, his skeleton was all they found, he'd been vaporized.

1515 Mantell checks in for last time. for whatever reason, at 1518 Mantell's watch is smashed and remains frozen at 1518. The witnesses to the explosion and crashing of Captain Mantell put the incident at 1600. If mantell's plane crashed at 1600 hrs, what happened to mantell that caused his watch to get so busted up, when he hadn't crashed yet? Thanks again.

One thing I would like to point out is that in 1948, the P-80 Shooting Star was in service. This was the US's first Jet aircraft able to go 500mph+ in the US's arsenal. While not likely, I think it's possible that the lights in Ohio could have been a rough P-80 pilot. I also know that post war several axis aircraft had been brought for testing in the US, some in Ohio (I think) so perhaps a misidentification of airplanes could have contributed to the initial incident, given the secretive nature of the testing. I don't know if these are true but something I just wanted to point out.

UFO sightings by military personnel have existed long before the term UFO came into our lexicon. Over Europe during WW2, pilots from both sides reported glowing objects following and maneuvering around their aircrafts. It was an American crew from the US 415th Night Fighter Squadron who coined the term "foo fighters" and strangely they did it out of frustration because those who debriefed them kept trying to talk them into believing it was their imagination (from exhaustion) or they saw planet something. The term FOO was a nonsense word used in a popular comic strip Smokey Stover. So a foo-fighter = non-existing fighter as the military wanted them to believe. In the years to come, that pressure to recant sightings evolved into a threat of losing ones wing which was enough to make pilots shy away from making any formal reports of UFO sightings. And if you persist it could result in discharged from the military under Section 8 (discharge from service due to service member judged mentally unfit) good luck trying to get a job in the civilian world with that on your record..

It's been reissued in recent years I believe, full of various cases. Hall was associated with (Ret.) Marine Corps Major Donald E . Keyhoe, and NICAP. ( National Investigation Committee on Aerial Phenomena), of which Keyhoe was director for many years. I realize the works I'm recommending are early ones. One needs to check them out in order have a better understanding of how we reached the place we are at today in regards to UFOs (UAPs).

My experience: Fall, 1976, sunset just after DST, north side of Chicago, buddies and me playing football in the yard after school, clear skies, looked up to see cigar-shaped object about 2k feet in the southwest sky over the house, hovering silently, red pulsing glows-not lights-at each end, looked down for a moment, looked back and object was gone.
I am of the "I-know-what-I -saw" crowd now. Never had interest in, or knowledge of, UFOs before this experience. Afterwards, I became interested in the subject and learned of Roswell, Betty and Barney Hill, and Travis Walton, as well as began reading Von Daniken's theories.
IMO we can't rule out anything about the origin of UFOs. I keep an open mind.

I live right there where it breaks off into a second little river. Scioto river flows through here. Not a stranger to strange lights in this area. Upon listening to this video i couldn't help but feel a sense of Deja Vu, i was reminded of Frederick Vallentich, a pilot who disappeared over Bass Strait AU in 1978. I was around 16 years old at the time & i had listened to the original transcript between Vallentich & Moorabin Airport. His plane magically disappeared after citing a green orb flying at incredible speeds above & below him & then he said this thing was above his plane & was orbiting, his plane became stationary. No oil slicks were found, no pieces of crashed plane, he was never seen again. All sorts of rubbish was reported in wikipedia who need to get their facts straight. The stories that were coming out about Fred were untrue, stupid stuff like he was flying upside down, i think its safe to say that flying upside down would have been felt by Fred, to this day i do not believe the official RAAF report. These Orbs, especially the orange type ones, can be very dangerous yet people still think they're exciting... hmmm not. They can appear & disappear into thin air, they can fly slow & beyond fast, they look similar to a firey comet with tail but the fire is different to Earthly fire, the middle east has accurate information on these things, more folks should take this Lore seriously.
