Awesome episode. That particular coast of Brittany is where we learned to sail with our yacht. Willow was actually born there, in the town of Treguier. Such a pity you didn't have time to explore Ile de Brehat. It's gorgeous.
Cross tides in marinas are also found at Treguier, Lezardrieux, & Benodet (as well as Roscoff), according to Peter Cumberlidge's book 'Secret Anchorages of Brittany'. In most places in the region anchoring is free too, although you might be more limited in a fin keeler. As a region i imagine you could spend years exploring it by boat (something i plan to do), it looks wonderful.
@@philipwright7186 spot on Philip, you could spend a long time cruising Brittany without getting bored. There were a lot of places we didn’t even get to visit because of time and tide. As a north easterner, I’d never even really heard of the area but can say it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I hope your plan works out!
@@falcon23spc it really drives me completely crazy 😂 recently I’ve been trying a line from one of the vang blocks to the rail on the coach roof. It works pretty well! Where did you fasten your retainer line to?
I made up a line with a spring clip at each end. On my 28 I run it from the topping lift shackle to the starboard rear cleat. You could run it to your pushpit, there's not much load on it.
Enjoying the videos guys. Tiny little suggestion to consider, maybe include your entries and exits to ports, marinas, anchorage etc. Not only to add interest but it will be informative for others, possibly following your routes but also similar situations elsewhere. Stay safe.
@@pauldent7067 they were lovely and yes, good fries as well! The French seem to favour the smaller mussels, which I haven’t really seen in the UK. But the smaller ones do seem to taste better!

@@wesailwillow thank you! We also didn’t get the chance to visit Treguier. Would love to sail in France again!

Good to see rillettes again, we miss them! Sadly haven’t found anything similar in Spain (but we do have jamon and chorizo so not all bad news)
@@DelfinoDiscovers and Pintxos, tortilla and stews! We ain’t going hungry in Spain 😂
My boom used to flick around like yours on my Catalina 28. Drove my mad until I fitted a snap on retainer line to the end of the boom. Give it a go.

use an empty mussel as a pincher to eat full mussels , much more dignified.😁
@@maesy6730 I did this for the first eight hundred 😂 it was time to get more hands on !
PS the one thing you can be sure of, after years of sailing, if there's only one other boat out there it will head straight towards you?
@@falcon23spc 😂 oh absolutely! An inevitability!
