Hi. I am not sure if real time has overtaken this comment but here goes. Time to learn to pole out your genny. Downwind sailing with the penny poled out to windward is oh so good. With the roller furler it is very easy to set up and use. Only use a topping lift. Attach windward sheet to pole end fitting. Lay pole against the forestay with the boom raised so that the end fitting is same height as clew with the pole near horizontal (easy if you have a sliding mast track)and unfurl while taking up with the sheet winch. Putting away is the reverse. You can put out as much or as little as you like. Try it and see. Cheers Peter.
Great video as always. What a lovely little town that was too. We were getting a little worried as we noticed that you had been stationary for a week. No doubt we'll get to that in a future vlog. By the way Faye that was a great haircut you did no need to fork out any more money Robs got his own personal hairdresser. We'll watch your next video from our favourite Island with an Ouzo in hand.. Fair winds.
@@lizharrison535 thank you! Northern Spain has a reputation for being plagued by an awful, relentless swell. The reputation is duly warranted! After a month of it, we needed a rest and even Reach Out had been feeling it too as she needed some parts to remedy an ailment. Thanks to Brexit and our oven ready deal, it took a week and seventy odd quid in import and custom admin tax for the parts to arrive! Any great hairdresser has to be consistent with their creations, which is where we need to improve on board. I sit here a few weeks later after my latest haircut without possession of a fringe. Hope you enjoy your break!
If I'd known I could have given a quick training course when we saw you as that was my trade as you know.. Brent says just toughen up and stop complaining. Fringes are overrated anyway.. as himself says at least you've got hair!!!😂
Preventer looks good. We have tried all sorts now trying a figure of 8 climbing aid on boom so we can jybe without going fwd. We seem to use ours lots.
@@ooweesaler in the Atlantic swell we used every day almost, in every sailing tack other than upwind. Some sails we were on a beam reach and the swell was still enough to gybe/tack the mainsail!
Stuff the sailing, we need to see more of that lady doing what she does, she's gorgeous and the star of the channel. Sorry Fay, it's the furry one who's the star - lol.
@@johncurry6047 that also works, the key word being short! Leading the midship line from the fairlead back to one of the winches is also a great thing, which we’ve also learned since. Always a school day!
@@sailinghjem You can shorten your passages by doing Port Medoc, Point de Grave then 12hrs to Arcahon and then 14hrs to Mutriku Spain, anchor in the port. Arcahon is tidal so you have to get your passage plan right and you have to ask permission to enter, but if you speak in English they are very uncooperative, so at high water and you’ve talked to them I just made my way in. Good luck and just an option if you prefer day sails rather than overnight ers. 😀👍🇪🇸
@@robertmoreland2638 thanks so much for the info Robert, the videos are a bit behind now so the Biscay passage is long gone! We did look into the harbours you mentioned but on the tide times we had, it just wasn’t a go! It was a shame as there looked to be some nice places! Hope you’re well!
@@sailinghjem Well hopefully you’re enjoying northern Spain, absolutely fantastic sailing area with beautiful free harbour’s in amongst the cliffs. Enjoy. 😀👍🇪🇸
@@robertmoreland2638 absolutely loved Northern Spain. Really off the beaten track for us northerners who tend to go to the south of Spain. Although the swell is definitely character building 😂 thanks again for the kind words!
