  • Last week, social media influencer Keith Lee set the city of Atlanta on fire. For those unfamiliar, Keith Lee is a well-known, social media food critic who has millions of TikTok and Instagram followers and a glowing review from him has changed the course of small businesses literally overnight.
In Atlanta, Keith basically exposed a classist restaurant sub-culture that seems anti-customer and in some cases very anti-black. Some people were so upset about what Keith shed light on that they not only threatened some of the restaurants he visited but they had the nerve to threaten Keith and his family over some fucking food critiques and as of the recording of this podcast, Keith is shutting down his food tour.

What he’s doing is influencing the public. A professional influencer is not going to review anything they don’t support just for clicks and monetary gain. He’s a clout chaser and this will help him learn boundaries. If you don’t like the service you received, don’t review it. His followers are only going to support wherever he says is good anyway. No need to give attention to what you DON’T like knowing how much influence you have. That can hurt the business and people will be angry and sue! Some people like trash service that’s why those places are still open.

@@d.c.5033that’s not the point of his reviews. Granted, I don’t watch his content, but from what I see, his reviews don’t look subjective, he gives a rundown of what his experience is. If he couldn’t get food, he couldn’t get food, there’s no negative opinion towards it. If his family gets bad service, they get bad service. If anything, he tells you to take his experience with a grain of salt because his experience can be different from yours. I even believe he addresses not only doing positive reviews though I can’t remember what he says about it. Also, you can’t sue for someone sharing their negative experience with your business, otherwise apps like yelp would be obsolete. They’d have to prove that his experience, which he probably records anyway, are false.

As my dad used to say, "A hit dog will holler." Instead of the restaurant owners behaving like gang members, they need to do better. Some of my worst experiences in restaurants come from Black owned. I don't go to restaurants for Instagram post. I go to restaurants to eat. If I spend my good earned money to eat at the restaurant, the food and customer service should be returned. Waiting an hour and a half for entrance in a restaurant is bad business because you are losing potential customers and money.

Born and raised in Atlanta and I would never eat at OLG. The Google reviews give a total of 3.6 out of 5.0 and ALL of my friends and family that have patronize OLG stated that the food is mediocre at best and the prices definitely don't match the culinary experience. Additionally, the owners stated on their Bravo show that features the restaurant that they weren't going to trouble themselves with purchasing a generator for the restaurant which is located in an area that experience frequent blackouts because they basically didn't feel like going through the process despite the fact that their customers are sitting in a hot restaurant with no lights and waiting for them to be restored so that they can pay with a credit card. What a waste of time and a lot of money. The servers and workers were nice but the food was not good, way too expensive for what we bought, and yep we had to wait outside in the car, unless you wanted to pay $15 to park in their little cages area behind the restaurant or park next to the section 8 apartments down the street. Their processes are whack and they should be ashamed of themselves for false advertisement. Guess you should only go there when the cameras rolling. Extremely great commentary and I’m praying for Keith Lee and his family. The restaurants in Metro Atlanta that we’re intended to be blessed by messaging received it and I hope they prosper going forward. It’s unfortunate that at times within our community we give “us” unnecessary 💨. Corrective criticism can be utilized in a positive way if you remove yourself from the situation and listen to hear and not to speak.

Correct. Even major news outlets covered the story about that teacher Keith Lee’s review helped to retire. *In only 24 hours*.
The business owner said she had to rent out another facility and hire more staff because sudden demand came through the floodgates after Keith praised her products. I believe it was the chocolatier lady.
Keith Lee’s reviews and constructive criticism have really helped those who humbled themselves and welcomed Keith’s suggestions.
He only said what needed to be said about ghetto ass Atlanta. The same things locals and visitors have been saying FOR YEARS. Our people just don’t like to hear the truth, NOR take accountability for anything.
The really sad thing is that Keith have done these reviews in numerous cities, without incident. Now he gets to Atlanta and ghetto niggas wanna fight and threaten because Keith’s *gentle* honesty got them butt hurt. Literally.
Folks better remember that man is a trained MMA fighter and elite athlete with over 10 year’s experience. LOL Step to him if they want to.

It’s not just major cities. It’s everywhere. I’m in Indianapolis Indiana where a Vegan restaurant called Burgeezy’s is at. They started with passion, good taste & friendly service. As a man who’s been a chef in the food industry, they were going down a very good path. But once they got a location in a luxurious area next to the canal, they started messing up, no waiters, no waitresses, get you food from the kiosk. 2 hour wait for cold brunch. Even tho their food is delicious, they treat people like we need them when they truly made it because of the customers that supported them from The beginning. Black owned or not, “you are a restaurant”. Customer service is customer service. I bet if you was to go to McDonald’s & wait for you fries for 20 minutes or more and got cold fries, y’all would raise hell. My people of color, do better, be humble, and if you wanna be the face of luxury and professionalism… Be professional not just luxurious.

Thank You Jamele Hill I commented on Funky Dineva's video when he was giving his review on this very topic. I was in Boston MA at this all white establishment the only thing I hated about eating there was that I couldnt substitute the side that already comes with the meal with something else. after that waiter wouldnt accommodate me; my whole experience and the taste of the food was bland as hell😒🙄. I live in the DMV area and my favorite restaurant to eat at is Copper Canyon Grill. 🤩😍 The reason being is because, when they were opening a second location in Bowie me and my bestie applied to be waitresses there. When we got the job; before we could even wait tables. We had to actually study the entire menu from front to back. & study all the different ingredients that's in the meals. If any patrons were allergic to anything, it was mandatory that we write down their allergies & the cook had to alter any ingredients or substitute it all together. (even the drinks as well) If you didn't pass the test you couldnt wait tables. I love that Copper Canyon does that. (It's pure genius) More restaurants need to adopt their policy and step their customer service skills up to par #ijs 🤷🏾‍♀️ Milk & 🍯 y'all tried it, with that long ass list of rules 🙄😒 Gurl bye! ✌🏾💅🏾

I have lived in Atlanta all my life since 1982. The city is full and too big to handle the weekend crowds. Transplants have made Atlanta a very different city than what it use to be for us born and raised folks. It's expensive and you spend too much money on food that is mediocre at best. Literally I can eat at my mom home and her food taste better than most restaurants. Some restaurants are cashless, which gives unscrupulous servers time to steal your credit card info. Atlanta is a see and be seen environment. I stopped spending weekends in this hype culture long time ago. I enjoy going to free parks and exercising on pretty days and cooking at home. Atlanta culture is too expensive for the lack of quality received. It's not just with restaurants its in the home buying industry as well. They throw up cheap houses with lots of plastic fixtures that don't last worth anything. The quality of everything in Atlanta has gone down with the influx of people moving here. There was a time when Atlanta gave you a charming quality of life circa 1990-2005. Now, the whole city is just overpriced and underwhelming: food, homes, groceries, dating life, fakes, and phonies and the city is dangerous, teens will break in your cars and it cost more than what was stolen. They break in cars everywhere in Atlanta. There is a whole underbelly no one talks about when describing Atlanta.

I will be REAL. One thing I don’t play about is my time. If your restaurant is poorly managed you best believe I’m not driving one hour to wait another hour or three for subpar service and food.
I’ve visited a Black owned business that I called before going and invited family. When I got there, they were closing EARLY, but didn’t communicate this with us at all on the phone.
You better believe I choose restaurants for their reputation, NOT color.
    And that’s on period.

This is the video review that we've needed. Thank you for the follow-up to these videos and the Atlanta Food Tour.
I work for a restaurant in College Park that his family tried to do a call in order, but our restaurant is online only. I knew then we lost him.
I agree 1000% with everything. These restaurants are too much for nothing.

These places need to be exposed for terrible customer service.

I avoid black owned hair salons. I went in one time to get my hair braided in singles. I need them to grow my hair duh! My hair struggles a bit however I've been doing great. I go into the black hair salon and when I say the laughing and snickering behind my head was atrocious. I felt so self conscious I just left. Went to the African salon and showed them my hair. They said oh we can do that no problem. No snickering, no talking about me, really getting me together in that chair and my hair came out fantastic! On top of that, the PRICE! $450 no hair included for some singles from a black owned salon. $220 that including TIP for the African shop! I will go to them always. It's why they still in business period!

The rules and requirements to have a nice smell at a decent black-owned restaurant, Is just as bad as the new age black hair salons. Yes, I said it.....
