  • Well, I'm not happy. But what's new there?
    Anyway, how has the Denix M1911A1 field strippable replica stood up to long term ownership?
    Will real grips fit?

    Great, honest review! I have the Webley, 357 mag, and the 2-Barrel Shotgun. The 357's hammer snapped off and I've only had it for a month. The cylinder release latch was loose/too small and allowed the cylinder to slide fall out a little. Saw another review where one customer had the same defect and that was 10 years ago. (No improvement after all thos years? I don't know) heard the nickel versions are made better by denix but have never purchased them myself.

      Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated.
      Sorry to hear about the problems you've also had with Denix products. Sadly the material they are made from is not durable and they don't sell spare parts.
      I've also heard that the nickel versions are apparently made better, however I collect historic items so the nickel would need some sort of refinishing to fit in.

    Good honest review, I've got 3 denix replicas now, the ppsh41 which I think is great....but I've placed some rubber at the barrel entrance to stop the shock on the bolt. MP44 errrm it's OK but I've heard that the bolt handle snaps off if used a lot....well build quality should be better and an MP41 , which is still in the box as I've just got it....review to follow. Denix just could do with some consistency, I was thinking about the luger but it doesn't have the lanyard bracket..why??....it spoils the look of it. Anyway good video cheers 😊

      Hello, hope all is well with you. Thank you for the tip about the MP44, I will have to look out for that on mine. I'll keep an eye out for your review of the MP41.
      Re: the lanyard on the luger, if it is anything like my Gletcher Luger the lanyard loop will be a weak part especially if made from the usual zinc alloy.
      Glad you enjoyed the video.

      @@nickvending9688 cheers yeh it was 'military collectables ' channel that mentioned the weakness in the MP44 by denix. I've seen other video footage of the gletcher bracket breaking off a p08. My umarex p08 is fit now only for display. I have the non blow back one and I aged it up fairly well....I managed to drop it and a small retaining lug inside the barrel snapped, can see how I can fix it and I can't see spares available anywhere...barrel is now loose. Maybe these things should just be hung on a wall??....thanks again m8 🙂

      I think you are right there, they seem to be made more for show than for use. How they survive being handled by reenactors is beyond me.

      @@nickvending9688 yes indeed, even deacs have their own 'individual ' problems...I bought a no4 Lee enfield back in 2013....after not much dry firing the cocking piece shattered...I was able to get a new one and fit it but I have to say the standards of some of the deac work leaves something to be desired, rough edges, below standard welding and they still want ££££'s of us punters, ah well can't do much about it I suppose🙂🙂

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  Рік тому +1

      @@steelhelmetstan7305 interesting to hear that, I also had a cocking piece on a No.4 snap. There is usually a reason why "unissued" military "spare parts" weren't used...
      Totally agree about the deactivations, more like butchery.

      The supplier reckoned they carefully checked it and it was a scratch. I said scratch from what, it's never been dropped, hit or had stuff put on it?
      They wouldn't have it, so it came back still with the damaged slide. Rather disappointed.
      If I was you I'd buy a decent CO2 one, they tend to be harder wearing and function more like a real one, just not field strippable.

    I bought a Kolsa 5.5 inch barrel Peacemaker to practice twirling with, l have some Umarex peacemakers in co2, but the grips are longer than a real peacemakers due to the necessity of storing the gas bulb inside it, hence the grips are a little narrower and decidely longer at least a half inch maybe more, it actually looks like the grip on the Colt cap n ball guns the 1861s.. versions like that, which is a nice grip and better to hold than the somewhat truncated grips on the real colts. Which either they must have had much smaller hands in those days or as l suspect it was measured to Samuel Colts very own hand as he was left handed and the gun is left handed going by the ejector rod position and loading gate.
    Anyway l digress, the Kolsa l bought second hand, £90 l know, l was ripped off, but l was new to the game just then, when l actually looked at it when l got it home l bought it from a town 40 miles from my home.
    I noticed the actual cylinder didnt have the normal lock cut outs but were trench like horizontal, on the box it had the normal looking Colt but the gun itself had the weird trench like cut outs, l dont know how l missed that when examaning it in the curiosity shop l bought it from, still it was around the correct size and weight and l only wanted to practice spinning it, like l used to do my diecast metal ones as a kid, l was quite good at it as a kid, but obviously the toy replicas were much lighter metal ( although I'll say this for em they were a lot tougher than this replica l bought in the long run, they were quite good copies of peacemakers and an 1861 army colt with the fluted lines, which was I'd say about a 5th of the size of a real one saying the real one went to 7 lol ) after just a few weeks the cylinder stopped revolving when cocked, and then the loading gate started falling away from its closed position, then the hammer cocked right back but wouldnt fire l had to push it forward a third of the way before it would,
    none of this bothered me too much as l just wanted it for spinning and pulling for a fast draw, l wedged the loading gate shut, but then the ejector rod and its shroud shot off, it came out of the frame completely l pushed it back in putting a tiny shim in to hold it, as l did that the barrel fell off, no kidding it was like the clowns car that falls to bits, lol, so l bought some metal weld and stuck the barrel back in with the weld around its and the ejector rods shroud, l even permanantly shut the loading gate as l didnt use it l just spun the gun and drew it sometimes cocking it as it left the holster, so when l fired it the reverberation would knock open the loading gate, anyway the barrel and the ejector rod have stuck but the loading gate is again dropping open the vibrations loosening it again, l tried soldering it but it would not take. Now ive taken to wedging the gate shut again. Thats my tale about replicas anyway, l dont know why they can't make them better, l think they're using very old moulds and cheapest metal possible, but charging moderner prices, if Umarex and KWC and WinGun and ASG and Crosman can make hardwearing actual firing co2 guns for not much more money why can't Dennix and Kolsa up their game to make a better replica.
    I would pay a decent price for a decent replica, but it wouldnt be any of theirs unless it was proven they had upped their game.

      Hello, yes the replicas can be pretty flimsy. Definitely a case of to be looked at not used. When I bought my Denix SMLE they even said that it shouldn't be cocked and fired too many times but I went ahead and bought it anyway - sure enough it has issues.

    How are they for just racking the slide? Thats really all I want one for. I have no interest in owning a real gun, but would like to ocasionally rack the slides of the replica.

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  6 місяців тому +1

      I reckon it would be ok for that. But to be honest you'd be better off buying a CO2 version as they tend to be more durable, are usually the correct dimensions and features like the grip safety do work.
      However it is great to be able to field strip it like a real one, a definite advantage over CO2 versions.
