Quick BATTERY update: I think from the beginning the reason of battery drain was my local cellular carrier (3Mob, it's a Ukrainian virtual network operator). The thing is, because it's a virtual operator, my SIM always switched between different networks (and used 'domestic roaming'), searching signal and thus draining the battery. Once I switched SIM cards and boom! ..no battery drain whatsoever. Happy end!
I was wondering about that as all of my BB10 BlackBerry's (save for the Z10, but quick swapping and having a spare was almost as good) would get AT LEAST the whole day (my Z30) with mid to heavy use and as high as 3 days (my Passport) with the same workload. They always got great signal (it was borrowed inside factories a lot for this reason). My Keyone was great too until I switched to a carrier with lousy coverage. Even at home in the basement it would eat 70% of the battery in 10hrs. just sitting by itself. Thar's exactly what it was doing, as you said... constantly searching signal.

Owned one back in 2015, paid $599 AUD. Attracted by its awesome design, however the system itself was not able to undertake daily use even back then, many daily apps were not supported by Blackberry OS and I was forced to use the Android mode but it was really slow on Classic. I had to take my iPhone with me as a backup. After 3 months I finally decided to completely switch back to iPhone. However still a good memory.
The blackberry q10 was my very first smartphone. I loved every bit of it. Qwerty and touch gave me the best of both worlds. The notifications came ultra fast and emailing was so easy. Newer phones had edge panels now but back then only bb had that tech. The headphone cord was groundbreaking. The material felt posh and luxurious and the keypad felt nice to the senses. It was the perfect size too. I can use it with one hand and i would never get hand pain from using it for too long. What i disliked about it (after the proliferation of google play) was dev abandonment. There was little to no support for mainstream apps like twitter and facebook on the bb os environment :(
I used two Q10s since 2014 and retired both a couple of weeks ago. They didn't do BBM nor WhatsApp anymore for more than one year, their UA-cam became very basic, very crude unreplaceable browser, endless and very irksome requests for BB ID authentication for nothing, incomplete email service, BB World worse than ever, swollen batteries in both, etc. Had enough of them, but RIM is to blame, not the Q10s themselves. I still use Curves, 9220 and 9320 on a daily basis. As plain communicators they're cheap and very good phones and meanwhile allow my Samsung to save battery. I carry both.
It's a shame blackberry went out of market and withdrew this beautiful phone .. making necessary changes with softwares would have kept this Alive and Superior
almost impossible .. that hardware can't handle too much process running on android 13 is inevitable.. but doable upgrading the bb10 os' android runtime atleast to 4.4 (kitkat)
I still use a Q20 and works perfectly for me in Canada. LTE calls - Volte works seamlessly with Fido and the battery stands for 2 days with average use! 😄

I have a z10 as my bedside table alarm clock. Don't understand how you didn't mention the best looking feature of BB10 (alarm). In z10 case, real black screen, red clock, and calm transitions to alarm ringing... beautiful.
I still can't believe that Blackberry can fail. I see Blackberry OS and their products have as much potential as Apple does now. Blackberry OS is very good, organized, and Blackberry OS Very fast, smooth. Blackberry OS does not need large RAM like iOS. I can't believe blackberry doesn't exist
Blackberry was pretty much targeting completely niche audience when it comes to Smartphones market business people that want security, physical keyboard, email etc those people either doesn’t exist anymore or just used Iphone. And most people that used Smartphones wants powerful specs,Great advanced camera, more apps and games,More screen resolution and oled panel that Blackberry cant provide.Blackberry is very similar situation to Nokia refuse to change and evolve and stuck on their old ways.
Yep, and it even had true, pre-emptive multitasking, unlike Android and iOS which have re-invented the wheel of the damned cooperative multitasking and marketed it as emperor's new clothes.
The most satisfying keyboard and accurate. Proud to be apart of that Era. 3.5 mm headphones and micro SD support. That was most wanted cell phone besides the razor.
I loved mine. I wish I never got rid of it. It was such a good device and was a pleasure to use. If they could only make it like this again and either bring back the bb10 os or just straight android. I’d gladly pay for that.
I still remember when my grandfather got his blackberry bold and I was maybe 8 or 9. It was something different and more prestigious than the Nokia phones, which were more common in that era and I'm 25 now still blackberry is something but bit outdated. They should definetly make some phones again!
UPDATE: I have solved the battery drain problem! (after another reset) I think this time it was caused by Gmail or Google calendar and how they were added (with app password because of 2FA and Calendar with a link). I guess the OS doesn’t know how to handle them and doing some processes repeatedly. Perhaps there’s no way to use Gmail today with no battery drain? We’ll see… а как можно с тобой связаться? Не понял за этот пункт
"Perhaps there's no way to use Gmail today with no battery drain?" There has never been. All the Google apps have always been notorious for extreme bloat, resource hogging and battery draining. In any Android phone, when you root it and remove or disable the Google apps, the battery life, performance, and responsitivity do increase dramatically. Better use alternative/generic apps.
The BB bold 9700 touch was the best looking most premium feeling phone ever... wish they still had support and i'd happily swap my galaxy for one without a second thought - but then i had the same feeling for the Nokia 6500 metal slide until i sourced a mint condition one; it wasn't as good as i remembered lol so maybe i'll just keep my galaxy
I still don't get why Blackberry stopped making phones. This was the best Enterprise phone and had( still has) very dedicated customers, over the entire world..No phone today can compete with its user experience.. Hard to explain to those who never used a Blackberry with keyboard and its amazing BBOS. Still using the Blackbberry Passport, as far as it is usable. I can't lay it in a drawer. Feels like picture of your first gf you still love and want a picture of in your pocket, just for the memories you're fond of..even when the color washes of after all those years..Sighhh
I still use a blackberry as my second phone.. i have a curve 9380 and a z10.. i use them alternatively , save their battery from overcharge and swelling.... and i still love them.. we are the BlackBerry boys😎
For the engraving which give you a feel of scratch keyboard - never thought of it, but may be the case! My last Blackberry (before switching to iPhone, hehe) was Bold 9900, and it didn't have Cyrillic letters. Instead, I learned blind typing, which I believe I could still do today in 2023.
I have been using a Q5 since 2014. It's amazing, small, compact, and pocket-sized. Unfortunately, it doesn't have 4G, but it's not a big problem as long as WhatsApp works. I would pay a fortune to have the same phone with a more updated Android emulator
I’ve got two of these babies. One is brand new and other one I used for many years. Still have bb passport as well. But unfortunately they are outdated now and can only be used as burner phones
Great phone!! I am still using the Key2 it's fast and never had any problem with it sadly no android 9 update. Some apps aren't working anymore, like banking so I use a Pixel6a it's nice but nothing beat my Key2 :) BlackBerry come back!!!!!!!
My favorite phone. It's really a shame blackberry stopped making phones. I think in the near future there will be a comeback for these type of devices. Like just a few days back, I bought a CAT S22 flip phone that runs Android. And I find that there are others who are buying them as well.
Only reason why i don't like blackberry phones as a secondary phone is because you can't sync google contacts. I think its a must for a smartphone whether main or secondary phone
phones today are really awesome machines but the Feeling, the touch, the general sensation was incredible, I miss my Blackberry phones really bad some times.
I was issued a blackberry classic by my former employer as a support phone. The version I have is non-cam as we are in a secured work area that does nit allow camera phones inside
I was one of the original beta testers of the z10 and q10 in 2012. The z10 had Verizon and the q10 was AT&T. At the time I was driving cross country. With maps and was checking if the signal was lost, heating up, app crashing etc., these were solid phones for the time. Then in 2014 I was asked to also beta test this phone before it was released but I declined. Biggest regret of my life. At the time there was a variant that had Android as the OS. Might be getting confused with the Passport Silver edition.
I did find a way for it to run opera mini and a gps - and install any .jar program for games and apps - it’s just there are so little of them left - but I found a discord group that gives like a few more so that’s good - I haven’t tried Pinterest yet but UA-cam kinda works even though it says update to android 4.0 even though I’m a blackberry 😂 but we’ll see how it goes
I'm still using a keyone as secondary phone... Enjoying the nostalgy... And wishing tech would go back... Instead of going full speed to some scary directions. Cheers
I have a brand new BB Passport purchased when I thought the battery on the one in use was dying. No, it became unsupported. Of course, I still keep the new boxed BB praying for a miracle revival.
It's a beautiful design and still beautiful today, classic and classy. What phones should still be like today. I feel sorry for those who may never have held or used a phone like this.
I really miss blackberry. They were great quality and so easy to type with real buttons and compact to hold and carry. I don’t like how phones have become large glass slabs that are a nuisance to carry around
I held on to this phone as much I could, it was the most beautiful productive and perfect gadget. Just had to let this go because it stopped supporting WhatsApp. I wish they came up with some fix around it I miss that time
i like blackberry phones so much that i am using a unihertz titan pocket with a keyboard. hopefully one day we get a beast of a phone with good specs the same size of this blackberry classic
i still use blackberry til this day! i always buy the blackberry classic and i cant tell you how glad i am that they are still producing them. all the new phones break waaay to easily. like wheres the sense in spending 1000 bucks into a phone that literally breaks when you drop it once.. i drop my blackberry at least 5 times a day and they always survive it. And by the way theres no phone that looks that adorable
Definitely my favorite Blackberry, but for sure it would be too old to use now. I'm 100% sure keyboard phones are never coming back, but I wish a company would at least sell some kind of keyboard case for like iPhones.
Its a great phone both in terms of design and performance . Excellent corporate phone of that time . Use it from 2016 to 2018 . Whatsapp working fine in it at that time
Instead of buying BB phones people should look into BB stocks that are at 20 year lows and many hedge funds seem to be getting in. I feel there is an accumulation going on because their price to sales ratio is just at 2.07 now. Which is extremely cheap. The reason the stocks dipped so low is because BB decided to raise 194million in cash to pay for maturing notes with fresh notes at 3% interest. BB seems to be big into Software Defined Vehicles with their Blackberry IVY, Blackberry Sound and QNX software and Hypervisor. AWS seems to be a major partner on the QNX. At 1.67billion market cap it is only a matter of time before someone buys them outright.
This was my first ever smartphone (yeah I was poor before I couldn’t afford one) and I loved it. But it was hard to catch on with today’s apps because of the OS. I still have it but don’t use it anymore
I had a z10 with the Texas Instrument processor and it's supposedly the "lesser" version since it uses an older soc and no LTE. However it runs android emulation like a charm, and I even installed GTA 3 and it ran like native. Gosh I miss that phone
I wonder what is causing the battery drain in this Classic because mine never behaved that way, maybe one of the android games is causing it, i was using my Classic until last February when it was no longer receiving signal from my carrier, i do miss it especially how compact it was compared to all the large phones these days and the keyboard was great for emails, i don't know how long the emails will work on this phone because the BlackBerry Hub on android doesn't work for emails, at least setting up new accounts because of how the major email clients like Gmail and Outlook are making changes to security and deem the blackberry hub unsecure.
Quick BATTERY update: I think from the beginning the reason of battery drain was my local cellular carrier (3Mob, it's a Ukrainian virtual network operator). I was using my 9900 daily up until 2018. I had it in my pocket at work, it overheated and it died on me. It still hurts me to this day, RIP BB9900❤
I still remember my Curve 8520 bought for me by my aunt, when I was still in University in 2011.
Best phone ever made. Hands down. Still own mine and I miss using it.
In the mid 2000s I had in in highschool lol everyone had it and it was cool to have it
I had (still have + a sealed “back-up”) this phone in the blue color and loved it so much. No carrier supports them anymore though.
Still use my BB9320 curve and still going - love that thing
Really? That awesome! Does it run social media apps like IG & Pinterest?
I did find a way for it to run opera mini and a gps - and install any .jar program for games and apps - it’s just there are so little of them left - but I found a discord group that gives like a few more so that’s good - I haven’t tried Pinterest yet but UA-cam kinda works even though it says update to android 4.0 even though I’m a blackberry 😂 but we’ll see how it goes
Blackberry! So good and sturdy those days with so many nice features
That homekey directional slide was probably my fav innovation for me.
The 3g here in Australia still works fine on these
Had 2 in white and absolutely loved them.
I'm still using a keyone as secondary phone... Enjoying the nostalgy... And wishing tech would go back... Instead of going full speed to some scary directions.
Cheers
I miss blackberry it brings tears to my eyes I miss them so much 😥
I have a brand new BB Passport purchased when I thought the battery on the one in use was dying. No, it became unsupported. Of course, I still keep the new boxed BB praying for a miracle revival.
I had the Bold 9700 back in the day. One of my all time favorites. Last one I had before switching to iPhone.
To this day my BlackBerry Bold is my all time favorite phone. There’s something about a rollerball and physical keyboard that just feels good.
i now roll by dog's snout instead of the BB ,.
I still have this phone. It's physically perfect. Just peak mobile phone. Too bad about the terrible software.
Can I still use Spotify on BB Classic? and WhatsApp?
I held on to this phone as much I could, it was the most beautiful productive and perfect gadget. Just had to let this go because it stopped supporting WhatsApp. I wish they came up with some fix around it I miss that time
It depends, if you're someone who codes & need physical keyboard, key 2 is still good option. For me, definitely not, I'm done with BB since 2014
i like blackberry phones so much that i am using a unihertz titan pocket with a keyboard.
hopefully one day we get a beast of a phone with good specs the same size of this blackberry classic
With a Blackberry in my Hand, I felt like a professional man! Yup that is true about BB then in 2000s typically from 2006 to 2009 or 2011 it ruled.
My first phone was a light purple Blackberry Curve. I miss those days
i still use blackberry til this day! i always buy the blackberry classic and i cant tell you how glad i am that they are still producing them. all the new phones break waaay to easily. like wheres the sense in spending 1000 bucks into a phone that literally breaks when you drop it once.. i drop my blackberry at least 5 times a day and they always survive it. And by the way theres no phone that looks that adorable
Where do you buy them? I want one really bad
Back in 2010’s it would be fun if Blackberry team up with Windows Phone OS.
Why is it bad to put in a sim card and connect to wifi right away? What will go wrong?
Because activation process of BlackBerry OS should be bypassed
No, enough for 4 years with me, now time to move it to my mini museum 🎉. Thanks becoming a part of my campus life
Definitely my favorite Blackberry, but for sure it would be too old to use now. I'm 100% sure keyboard phones are never coming back, but I wish a company would at least sell some kind of keyboard case for like iPhones.
Regarding physical keyboards, who knows, who knows... People may become more retrograde in future
People are already returning to nonsmart phones
Actually the titan uniherts the remake if blackberry
Did you have issues getting passed the setup?
No, no issues at all. I wrote in description what my steps were (maybe I need to make a video on this, I don't know🙂)
@@Bohdan_HI-TECH since mine bbid locked will need to find a video to bypass it
The white phone looks brilliant.
Still using as my second phone always love it
Its a great phone both in terms of design and performance . Excellent corporate phone of that time . Use it from 2016 to 2018 . Whatsapp working fine in it at that time
The best phone best form factor. Please bring it back with latest android version
I wish they come back. I miss the BB Storm. I know it had its issues but all phones have issues.
Agree, "the worst smartphone in history" was in fact unfairly criticized
You have made a blackberry phone unboxing video. Your channel has been subscribed by me.❤
Instead of buying BB phones people should look into BB stocks that are at 20 year lows and many hedge funds seem to be getting in.
I absolutely loved my blackberry curve right up until like 2012-13 I low key miss the tactile keyboard
Definitely worth a buy. Makes for a great paper weight.
Well, SMS and calls are working, so it's a feature phone, not just paper weight
This was my first ever smartphone (yeah I was poor before I couldn’t afford one) and I loved it. But it was hard to catch on with today’s apps because of the OS. I still have it but don’t use it anymore
what a satisfying UI ! They should have launch this kind of phones.
Nothing comes even close to the feeling of owning and using a BB. I miss my physical keyboard on phone, its so satisfying texting on a clicky keyboard
I had a z10 with the Texas Instrument processor and it's supposedly the "lesser" version since it uses an older soc and no LTE. However it runs android emulation like a charm, and I even installed GTA 3 and it ran like native. Gosh I miss that phone
I'd love to have a phone like this today. I always wanted one of these. Closest I had was the Motorola Charm lol... definitely not as premium.
Where did you buy the device?
I actually said this in video when unboxed
Had the Classic and the Passport...the best devices I've ever had 👌
I still want this cellphone...great design.
I reviewed my issue of battery life here: ua-cam.com/video/5aQc7mQI8oI/v-deo.htmlsi=SJFq6uNV8eUYPnak
Where we buy this phone
Ebay
i just brough bb classic but how can use Twitter?
Unfortunately, old Twitter web version is shut down now, so you can't
@@Bohdan_HI-TECH Any apps can be used for twitter in BB classic?
