i had a couple things like this back in the early 2000s the sharp zaurus sl-5500 was like this device and i had a zaurus sl-c3200 clamshell i felt like king of the world
The design is amazing, and I'm really sad that with the era of smartphones the mainstream brands seem to have forgotten and abandoned the idea of portable pocket computers. This is truly a childhood dream come true :P Unfortunately I can't afford this at the moment, but hope you'll keep this up and update the model, in the future I'll definitely look into buying a couple of these for myself and my friends as a cool gift
I love your bb keyboards and have a couple of them. Will be watching for this to become available next! Very nice and clean build that looks really functional!
This is awesome, as soon as the sw will be polished enough will be so fun to use. In my head would be cool something very very simple that doesn’t stress the hw
(*sigh*) Got so excited, but saw the date. I knew they had to be gone already. I just discovered your keyboards a few weeks ago, and saw you had something coming...but then forgot to put it on my calendar. No way these were going to last 6 days in stock...but at least I'm on the e-mail list for a restock. Have you considered making a case that supports having a header on the 40 pin? That way it could accept additional hardware modules... Thanks so much for the cool stuff you're doing!! Between the nostalgia some of us have for the "chiclet" keebs, and the fact this is so well put together, I can't imagine you'll *EVER* keep them in stock for long.
it's a great job, i suggest that you go with big production, and sell it affordable price, you will get thousands ordering it, including me. and you may make some features for GPIO pins. The idea is perfect, keep moving.
funnily enough I was thinking of learning more advanced electrical engineering so i could make one of these and open source it. Looks like now there's no need so I guess I can focus on making a fitting WM for this thing if I can ever get around to it. It'd still be great if there was a fork that used non-custom ordered parts so that the gerber files could be shared and it can be built by someone else as a hobby project.
@ZitaoTech What if there was a way to use a sim card hat for the zero, maybe running a ribbon cable to one of the spare battery compartments holding the hat. Then still if we ran out of juice in the battery we could pop in the second battery, or maybe find a higher capacity that's the same size as a single battery.
I'd add a SIM card immediately and a phone app immediately. Plus, if we can scale the UI to phone size, then we have a full blackberry but opensource (and actually with more functionality. Maybe desolder the USB ports and go for USB-C for form factor. I think we are getting close to a Linux phone here.
Only 6K view?(here before this blows up) Well, lets help it with a like. This looks so good. Also, i love that screen. And the dual battery is an interesting design, i kinda like it. And also, i found an interesting website too.
Would love to see either #sunvox or #piggytracker or #lgptracker running on it and let it jam some tunes! Should be perfect for making chiptunes or some good ol jungle beats on the go.
put shadows on low and shaders to mid. rest is high. there you are the optimized settings. to get rid of traversal stutter either install linux or run the game with -dx11 command line but it wont fix the stutter as good as linux
@@the_teknomads Some parts like the display are custom ordered, even with the PCB file it's basically impossible to rebuild one. To save time for others I deceided not to release the gerber
@@ZitaoTech That missed the point. This is not a question of time saving, rather one of commitment to open hardware, transparency and providing access to design files, and granting users the right to modify and repair. You posted an incomplete GIT repository, and that was what prompted this dialogue. The world is already filled with proprietary e-waste garbage. The hope is that you would embrace an open model. You only have benefits to gain by being fully open.
I want a dedicated device like this to ssh / rdp into virtual machines over vpn, and to act as a text editor. Honestly, a nice little menu system in ncurses as the default login that allows to connect to wifi, launch Mc, connect to vpn, ssh into other devices or launch remains might be the perfect thing for this.
I use to daydream about a device like this when I was a kid. Awesome to see it come to life as an adult
when do you have more becoming available for purchase?
the website says 8th august that was last week.

Love the design with the opening panels on the back and the two batteries!
If a device like this was on Amazon, I would have bought it!
SAME!!

Blackberry design is still mood👍
I really like the overall size, the size of the screen. Nice work!
The full size usb are amazing
This is an incredible little device. I'd love to get one for my amateur radio stuff.

This is the kind of cyber deck that needs to be commercially avail. :) Great Stuff!
clockwork pi have the uconsole, I said it recently they need to make one that is pocketable and after seeing this, they really do need.
This would be interesting for online schooling and educational purposes.

Awesome device! Managed to fit more usb than the average laptop 😊

Just found this video, nice work, I use those old Nokia style batteries in my projects as well, awesome work.
That's a lovely design!
Genius! I’m on waiting list!
blown away and impressed...i definitely want one
awesome work, well done!
This was fun to watch. Thank you.

This is amazing. If it has a modem in it. I would buy this over any phone
Good job man, i really loved the design. I hope to make one myself one day. Good Job, keep it up! 👍👍👍
This was the device Motorola promised us in 2004, so so so so cool 😎
This is amazing. Love it! 😎
the next upgrade would be a aluminum case. it would be amazing.
Fantastic.
I really need one of that

Superb! Loved this device.
U R AMAZING from Iran ❤
Great work, man! Looks good.
Ahhh I really hoped you would have ripped that screen cover off, that would have been so satisfying - the tab was just dangling there lol

this is perfect. does it have speakers ?
Sadly no, but it can paired with a bluetooth speaker
Can it be powered by usb only? I.e. with no batteries installed?
I hope more come out. I want one for travels
when the rpi zero 3 released can it swapped in there ?
No idea, it depends on the position of the test pads
Awesome man! New subscriber ✌🏻
Crazy! Beautiful design, love it!
No mention of audio on this device, I guess an usb dongle is the way?
Yes you can add an USB sound card into the USB-A port

Good work!
Thank you for sharing!
i'm in shenzhen, actually work at the TroubleMaker coworking space near SEG building, where can i get the screen you used in this device?
Wow. It’s really nice gadget
Is the raspberry the only way? Is it possible to subsitude the raspberry with a microprocessor in order to save money and have a custom pcb?
Is the keyboard wired or connecting wirelessly when you press the button?
the keyboard goes through usb
@@ZitaoTech cool.. keep up the great work
would a module be needed to support a sim card and have the device be connected over LTE or 5G?
absolutely phenomenal
It would be incredible to do this with a compute module 5
Awesome! Amazing job👏👏👏 I did something similar with a blackberry phone and vnc connection to my cloud Kali lol
Is the pi board replaceable
This is very cool!
Looks cool! What OS is that? And can anyone educate me what are the use cases for devices like these?
I would really like to purchase two of these. Is there a projected date they will be available again?
This + WhatsApp and basic phone capabilities would be insane
I second this, I hate the modern phone market. Would be so cool to be able to make calls on a device that you can also easily write and run code on
Ur genius bro 😊
How do I get 2 of these to Canada, ASAP? Will the waitlist be open soon? How many people on waitlist?
awesome work man
I would buy for sure

Roughly how much would one of these cost to make retail? $100?

What type of connection did you use to build in the keyboard?
Is this a modded keyboard like solder party or literally the BB keyboard? Just the BB keyboard and interface board would be chefs kiss.

Where can one find the PCB Design files?
Would be nice to purchase with full hardware documents.
You can find the schematics in my github page

How cost and where buy?
how often do you restok your shop?
You can join my discord server to get the latest stock news
Do I need soldering to buy the whole thing?

The trackpad is bascially an I2C sensor
Where can I get the parts to build one of these for myself?
great work, thanks
