It isn't always envy or jealousy. I used to have a really nice boat, sport cruiser, slept 6 etc etc etc....and guys would come into the marina with their go fast boats with the headers blaring. No reason for it other than "look at me" since almost all (if not all) have silent choice exhaust where the exhaust is diverted out of the headers out through the stern drive under water. We used to rail against these guys since they'd come in in the wee hours of the night or very early in the morning. Many of us spent the weekend on our boats to get away from the noise and pollution of the city.
A couple rented slips for the summer and after 2 weekends of this BS they'd be kicked out. They'd also come into the marina pub and be denied service and be railed against by all of us regulars. Not out of envy, because they were just being a holes.
We hosted many legs of poker runs and the pros would approach the marina entrance and immediately shut off the headers and putter quietly into their assigned slips. We'd invite them to the pub and buy em beers and make them feel welcome. One time a guy in a 38 scarab was having trouble with one of his three 7.4L engines, we all piled on lending him tools and running him up to the parts shop to get a new fuel line. We had him up and running by nightfall.

As a younger man of 23 , I drove 1985 Chevy Caprice Wagon, with many dents and imperfections. My fiancé of the time complained about being see in it when I drove here to church. She even complained about it to the Priest of the Church. ( it turn out the Priest drove a ratty old Oldsmobile). And the Priest then admonished my fiancé. This event helped me make up my mind about breaking up with her.

To people who think wealthy people should give their money away, this always bugs me because I have realized that is never a good idea. For the most part, it hurts people to give them stuff for free. Because they didn't have to work or pay anything for it, they don't value it and they become entitled for it. Then they become even less likely to work to become self-sustaining.
We see this with the liberal cities, like LA and SF. Their homeless problem is because they enabled people to be homeless. If they really wanted to help homeless people, you offer them assistance but only if they put in their share of the work. You cannot help people unless they want to change, and you usually have to let them hit rock-bottom before they do.

I own a Mustang and literally just installed a new cat back because my muffler delete was so freaking loud.

I drive a EJ1 Civic Coupe from the early 90's and I absolutely love it for how loud and slow it is with the tiny B18 (1.8L Non-VTEC).
