For anyone else who wants to do this challenge, here's a couple mnemonics for tricky states. If you liked the Disney show Gravity Falls, the state of Oregon is real. Utah is the home of the Mormons, who you might remember from a couple South Park episodes. If you know any Spanish, remember the word "mountain"- slice the tilde Montaña, you get Montana. Or, y'know, Hannah Montana, I guess. Oklahoma is a city, a state, and it's got a panhandle. It's the one shaped like a dented cooking pot. The Louisiana purchase, one of like four major interactions America had with France? Yeah, there's a state.
I definitely remember the Gravity Falls and South Park one because I’m a fan of both. Speaking of South Park, another thing about remembering a state is Arizona where the goth kids claim they hate Scottsdale
You'll also know about Montana if you've seen the show Yellowstone, or if you're a fan of Brad Pitt movies, A River Runs Through It takes place, and was filmed here.
and many of our states are bigger than most countries😂. foreigners dont understand how big America is thats why its dumb when they generalize americans
The fact that an Australian is that good at naming US states and probably better than most Americans says a lot. BTW Thanks for pronouncing Illinois correctly!
Doesn't it mostly have cities though not states. I guess I need to listen to it again to be sure. Oh no. I guess it does have 8 states in it so it probably would have helped a bit for sure.
Same here. I was thinking, "he's not going to guess my state on his own... unless..." But instead of Yellowstone I was thinking of other options, such as A River Runs Through It (the band teacher here was in the party sceneas the trumpet player), Thunderbolt & Lightfoot, Back to the Future (in the film's depiction of 1955, the theater was showing "Cattle Queens of Montana"). Then there's several westerns that mention Montana at least once.
If you were watching a single episode of American TV, I had the perfect idea. There's a thanksgiving episode in Friends where Ross has to name all 50 states before being allowed to eat. There's a lot mentioned there! :P
As New Yorker I can tell you… New york city has five boroughs: Queens and the Bronx are on mainland New York. Staten island is an island in between mainland New York and Long Island. Fun fact, The countries capitol is Washington D.C., or district of Colombia. The Washington State you guessed was not the same. They also almost called the state "district of Colombia", but didn't, to avoid confusion with Washington D.C., which is hilarious. The countries capitol is just south of Maryland (or was it Delaware?), which contributes to it's odd shape.
Also, we learned the states by heart in elementary school with the song that goes "fifty nifty United States". Look it up maybe idk.
Little z: I’m going to call up one of my American friends.
Also little z: calls a Canadian.
Canada is North American, and is _culturally_ American (despite however much they dispute that.)
@@a-s-greig I’m guessing you also think manifest destiny was a good idea and should be brought back.
@@cloudmonkey6952I do. Let's take it all the way west to the Atlantic Ocean.
@@firebyrd7933fr, manifest destiny is so cool
Banger video Zack, don’t know how you managed to make your spiral of insanity entertaining! Glad that South Carolina wasn’t last lol
I love how everyone has the “Z” badge next to their name

11:15 WE FOUND CONNECTICUT!1!!1!!!1!!1! (NOT CLICKBAIT)
The way Zack came up with a lot of the answers and his joy/relief of finding out they were correct is just amazing.
Holy hell, been a long time fan and I've just gotta recognize that the editing on this video was absolutely peak. Jokes were extremely well done, camera work was incredible, content and organization was nigh immaculate, overall probably one of the best pieces of content I have seen produced on this platform. Smash might've been what you originally came to be recognized for, but this kinda stuff is where you really shine; well done Zack!
bro you should really expand your horizons if you think any of those things were top tier. the video was great but there's nothing about the jokes, camera work, editing, etc. that stands out.
you a bot?
@@Purriah Hello! No, I am not a bot, (at least as far as I'm aware) I just wanted to express that as someone who's watched Little Z's content for a long time, I felt that his skills really showed in this particular video; not so much that anything stood out per se, (indeed there wasn't anything exactly new or revolutionary) but just that it was very enjoyable the whole way through. As for expanding horizons I would love to hear any recommendations you may have!
1:33 there is in fact not city named New Jersey, and New York City is in fact in New York.
I absolutely love that the one of the only people online at 3am was a Canadian 😂
as a nebraska native i was worried i would be last but when he didn’t say it last i was so excited because he said right before “who the frick lives in this big area of nothing” he isn’t far off
Watching someone lose their whole sanity over the 50 states we’re made to learn in elementary school, it was personally fulfilling.
@@HK-withanAK- i was wating for him to find it
There's the MIMAL band of states: Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana.
‘Does know New York-State but doesn’t know where New York-City is’
As a Minnesotan, I don't know how to feel about you thinking Minnesota was next to Texas
lol same from Minnesota tooo
I wouldn’t be able to avoid cheating in this challenge with the huge world map in my room, so I feel the pain.
As a not north american, I was very surprised with how you figured out about states that I never heard about
Did you hear about Michigan?
and many of our states are bigger than most countries😂. foreigners dont understand how big America is thats why its dumb when they generalize americans
@@drummersnare6276 I live in a state bigger than Alaska.
@@JamesDavy2009 There isn’t a state bigger than alaska
@@drummersnare6276It’s possible in another Country. Other countries have states
Before the video even began, you already named more US states than the average American can, so good on you!😂😂😂
"There is no way he will make this entertaining."
And yet he does it every time.
4:02 no way my man guessed san andreas 🤣🤣🤣
“Arkansas, oh I spelt it wrong” me-Nope😂
The fact that he wrote long island in there really tells you that it should be it's own state
Maybe if NYC hadn't annexed Brooklyn...
Twice!
11:14 this was the first time anyone popped off for Connecticut
The fact that an Australian is that good at naming US states and probably better than most Americans says a lot. BTW Thanks for pronouncing Illinois correctly!
"I've been everywhere" by Johnny Cash would have come in CLUTCH if you used that as your lifeline this video.
Doesn't it mostly have cities though not states. I guess I need to listen to it again to be sure. Oh no.
I guess it does have 8 states in it so it probably would have helped a bit for sure.
Loving this style of videos you've been doing recently! Keep it up!
Telling people i’m from Oregano from now on
Better then Oreee-gon 😅
As a person watching in Montana, I was so ready for Yellowstone to get us on the map, just like it did for half of the people living in the US.
Same here. I was thinking, "he's not going to guess my state on his own... unless..."
But instead of Yellowstone I was thinking of other options, such as A River Runs Through It (the band teacher here was in the party sceneas the trumpet player), Thunderbolt & Lightfoot, Back to the Future (in the film's depiction of 1955, the theater was showing "Cattle Queens of Montana"). Then there's several westerns that mention Montana at least once.
Isn't Yellowstone technically in Wyoming? I swear when I went there it said Wyoming, unless it also crosses into Montana
@@MaruchanPrime Some of it does cross into Montana. There's even a town in Montana near the park called West Yellowstone.
The TV show takes place in Montana though
If you were watching a single episode of American TV, I had the perfect idea. There's a thanksgiving episode in Friends where Ross has to name all 50 states before being allowed to eat. There's a lot mentioned there! :P
I had this same thought! And if I recall correctly Delaware was one of the last ones Ross got too 😂
As a North Carolinian, atleast we weren’t completely forgotten
As New Yorker I can tell you…
New york city has five boroughs: Queens and the Bronx are on mainland New York. Staten island is an island in between mainland New York and Long Island. Manhattan is also an island in between mainland New York and Long Island. Finally Brooklyn is on the island of Long Island which is not be confused with the suburb of Long Island.
Queens is not on mainland New York. It’s on Long Island.
Seeing Little Z look at the very small square and wonder what it was, when earlier in the video he mentioned he went to Washington D.C. is very humorous to me
13:38 as a Marylander this made me very happy

Congrats Zack!
As a geography nerd, i would love to see you do the same with the european countries. How about doing this on the Underdogs channel, to see who of you guys is the master of european geography?
5:17 the devil went down to Georgia is an absolute banger, also so glad that’s the reference you got for my home state! :D

I sincerely thank you for pronouncing Oregon correctly
The fact that this Australian can name more states in the 1:00 mark than A LOT of Americans is just embarrassing
This was fun and random, I suggest making Coney name Australian territories
LOVING the editing of this video so far. But how is this gonna be 20 minutes
As a Nebraskan we need more pop culture that references Nebraska somehow 😢
I love the quick youtuber cameos. Congrats on your state journey
4:40 I thought he was gonna put on that Animaniacs song that goes over all the states, lol. Don't feel bad man I'm American and I only knew like half of those states by heart.
15:33 and he thinks my city is a state… 💀
I actually live in the US and cannot remember the name and position of each state, so I completely get Little Z’s struggle

I'm mainly surprised at how many capital cities he's heard of
They mention cities more than states in tv so males sense
Most of the big cities in the U.S. are not state capitals.
As a resident in Delaware. I was not surprised you forgot about us.
This was really fun and actually quite impressive
Well, Zach.
As an American viewer, I have to say.. that your statement about you doing better than most of us at knowing states…. is absolutely correct.
