    That was one of the most well done, enjoyable, easy to understand, brilliantly recorded, fun to watch lighting videos I have seen on You Tube! This was my first time watching Tommy, and wont be the last. I just need for Santa to bring me a ring light, reflector holder, and Canon 5D Mark III body. • @Tim9666
      @Tim9666 5 років тому

      @@ryanmeakins4224 not at all! I personally think the pixapro (godox, flashpoint,..) products are very affordable after all. 1 light modifier from Broncolor is the price of like 5 pixapro flashes and 10 light modifiers... Yes Tommy does heavily advertise for Pixapro but can u blame him? His outcomes are VERY good with a fragment of the studio equipment that other UA-camrs use...

    • @TommyReynolds89
      @TommyReynolds89  5 років тому

      Hey Stefan, I appreciate some of the set ups here could be expensive to some but as Ryan says, Pixapro gear is A LOT more affordable than broncolour or profoto for achieving the same results. My second setup in this video for example (and actually my favourite of the three) could be achieved with a PIKA 200 instead of a citi600 and cost you around £430 for everything in the setup. Not a bad price which is why half the gear in this video I have personally bought out my own money.
      You’ll probably like my next video I’m about to work on which is achieving great results with a complete lighting setup worth under £250

    • @jasonbodden8816
      @jasonbodden8816 2 місяці тому

      @@ryanmeakins4224I know this is 5 years ago but did you really miss the whole point of the video and actually chose to harp on what you think are expensive light setups? Light is light. You can do these with any cheap strobe and light modifiers and practically achieve identical results. Harping on the actual gear is totally losing the plot, bud. Sheesh.

    Hey Tommy,
    Great tutorial overall, but for the life of me, I can't get the "clamshell-on-its-side" set-up to work to no avail. I got some great half-lit/half-shadow-ish shots, but nothing like what you showed.
    I used two different bounces (2 foot circular, 2-by-4 foot rectangle) and two different light sources (42-inch softlighter, 36-inch octa).
    Did you do something in post to even them up or does the shot really need a 150cm octa to work?
    Thanks!
