  • Are you looking to take professional corporate headshots for actors or LinkedIn profiles? Then you've found the right video tutorial!
Sometimes, you might have as little as five minutes with a subject, so what's the best way to capture a natural expression from your subject?
In today's video, we're talking about how to take great headshots, how to get natural-looking expressions, headshot posing techniques, and other key factors that you should know as a portrait photographer. Not only will you learn how to take headshots, but you'll also be teaching your subjects how to be more photogenic in front of the camera. And yes, even actors can get shy in front of the camera!
You'll learn about the key principles behind any great professional headshot photography photoshoot so you can take the best corporate photos (or actor headshots) that will impress your clients. In addition to this, we'll also cover white background headshots, how to pose for headshots, corporate headshot photography, and other portrait photography tips for beginners.
Now while they seem relatively easy to take, there are key things to consider before you take any photo.
One thing to keep in mind is to understand what a headshot actually is. A professional corporate headshot is generally an image of a single person, usually fairly close-up on their face (unless you're taking group headshots). They're used for promotional material or business purposes.
When it comes to expression, we also feature "it's all about the jaw" technique that's been popularized by headshot photographer Peter Hurley.
There are so many great nuggets in this video that will rapidly and radically improve your headshot photography. Watch our latest photography technique video and let us know if we missed any key tips that you use when taking portraits!

Try photographing from both sides to get the client's best side. Sometimes people don't know what their best side is.

Great tip! It's a good idea to photograph from both sides, look at the photos to figure out which one is ideal, and then continue shooting from that side.

thanks for the effort and the sharing. i often play music in the background. i even ask them if they have their own music to bring and that keeps their energy up. thumbs up.

That's a great idea too! That way, your subject can focus on the music in addition to your direction and keep their energy high.

My best tip is to leave people photography to handsome guys like you, while men like me better stay in the wilderness for landscape photography.
