Great video! It's clear, concise and allow enough to follow easily. Also, the lack of any time wasting frills and needless banter make it a joy to watch! Please, do me a favor and teach this to other UA-camrs!
This is by far the best Vinyl/cricut tutorial I have ever seen! This video should blow up! I haven't seen this technique anywhere and I thunk I've watched all of UA-cams Cricut side 🤩
What vinyl specifically is it that you’re using that has the transfer tape on it already. I have used cricut premium perm vinyl and I still have to put transfer tape on it. Great video. Thank you in advance.
First time using my Maker 3 and making stickers in general. Combination of this tutorial and my experience in illustrator made it a success. Made a variety of complex design stickers in one go. Thanks!
when making your designs in illustrator, do you create a cutpath in illustrator or do you export the art from illustrator into cricut design space then make an offset cut path? I am having issues transferring illustrator art with my cut contour line into cricut design space, when cutting it cuts off the ends of the contour line : /
i just bought a cricut and watched many videos on how to make decals, yours is by far the best! The only one who explains why we are doing each step! Very hard to learn when people dont tell you why you are doing certain steps!
This is the only time I’ve ever watched a cricut tutorial video all the way thru. You actually make sense while explaining this. Plus, you’re easy to listen to and watch. Thanks for sharing, I finally understand the process now. Thank you ❤
Fellow South African here and I got my Cricut Explore Air 2 a week ago. I just wanted to say that this was an amazing tutorial and I wish you all the success! We're big into the car scenes so always wanted to make car decals. Thanks to this I can! 🥰 Also part of ZAGA which is great to see.
This video was amazing. I picked up a circuit to use in my auto refinishing business. I wanted to start making my own stencils when I’m airbrushing. Discovered everything I needed to know and gotten up and going. Thank you very much. I know it’s an older video, but it was amazing that I stumbled across it.
😊Great tutorial. So easy to understand. You don’t repeat, and over explain. One of the best tutorials I have watched. And I have watched TONS!!!!! I am looking forward to more. And what to know how to become a member?

Okay! So we need transfer tape without the lines on it. Sold a sticker as a car decal. Client is going to transfer it the way one normally does (she has experience in that regard) but I could have saved a whole bunch of transfer tape using an offset and by using transfer paper that has no lines on it. Something to remember for the future! Thanks Kelly!
I'm a new follower and am enjoying your tutorials! Boy do I wish I saw this trick yesterday when my project failed. I'm not necessarily a beginner, but more a novice/intermediate level Cricuteer. This was a game changer! Thank you!!
I got it figured out. Sorry I’m very new to cricut. I’ve played with design space and made a lot of designs I’ve the past year but haven’t started using the cricut itself till a couple days ago
You have a lovely voice, and this is a fantastic tutorial Thank you for taking the time to make it as I’m a complete noobie trying to start a decal/design company.
I have been in search of how to cut my stickers on the cricut without them just being duplicates and cutting super close. You've given me a better, more in depth, and easy to follow explanation on how to make the most amazing stickers that womt look janky! Thank you so much!
So cool. But I’m still completely lost. I really need to get more immersed with my Cricut. I definitely went overboard buying materials. Thanks again for the video.

@@KellyRossouw everything went very well UNTIL it was time to peel the stickers off of the mat (I was using the mat you suggested) they cut nice but had a lot of sticking to the mat! Any tips?
How do you set your second page to cut in a different material setting? The only way I could do it was to cancel my cut and start over only cutting the second sheet. I seem to have missed this part in your video. Thank you for all you amazing help so far
Found this to be the best video tutorial on sticker making out there. At least for me. But, we need a new tutorial as there’s the new Create Sticker option in design space. I finally (after 1 year) am trying to do my logo stickers again, as I had given up. Hopefully the second half of steps are exactly the same. Though it might take some trial and error due to not knowing the difference between a Die Cut and a Kiss Cut. Actually, the new feature seems quite different. Hello from a fellow Zagatarian and Silhouette crafter here, thanks for all your tips and tutorials, love your work! The custom chocolate tutorial was super helpful for making family Christmas gifts. A quick question, where did you buy those vinyl roll holders? I can't find those anywhere here in SA even after days of searching, I ended up designing and 3D printing my own as a last resort...
Hi Kelly im new to cricut and already addicted thank you for this vid helps a ton great vid and easy to understand ( now i dont have to ask Ruzelle for help i can just come look at your vids )
Wow love this video! Can you do this on a cricut joy extra? It doesn’t have a craft board setting to cut it the second time. What can you do instead?Thank you❤️
Thank you! Yes you can follow the exact same steps as I show in this video, just make the size of the rectangle to fit the size on your mat. You may be able to use the Medium cardstock setting! :)
@@KellyRossouw thank you so much :) I’m going to use oracal 651. I will try it with that setting. It will be for text, not a picture but I will use a little bit of the offset :)
This is quite a complicated one to answer! The majority of the Cricut permanent vinyls work beautifully (the non "fancy" ones eg holographic, shimmer etc). For other brands look for the Outdoor label - those are the ones that are rated to last longer outdoors under the sun and weather etc.
Hello! 😊 I must have missed it 😅 but are the pressure settings for the 2nd cut (transfer tape, offset, weeded vinyl) the same as the first? Does it need more pressure or different material setting? Thank you! 🙏❤
Hello! I would suggest using a medium cardstock setting for the second pass, but this all depends on the vinyl you use. Some may have thicker backing sheets that need to be cut with more pressure! xx
great video- so how did the machine know to cut a perfect border around the text at the very end? were there certain settings that needed tweaked? it seems you just put it back in the machine with no adjustments- thank you
I'm surprised the cricut software doesnt have a feature where it will automatically maximize the layout space for a single design, i.e. group it in such a way so that you dont have to manually copy/paste them and align/squish them together.
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I haven’t seen stickers being done this way so thanks for such an informative video! I just have one question (I think I’m being daft). So will the transfer tape be taken off after applying the decal (as you usually would) or does the transfer tape act almost like transparent vinyl, giving the decal a clear border? Does that make sense? Thank you so much! X
I had no clue you could put transfer tape right on it before u cut! Is that with any brand transfer tape. I put laminate on top of my printable vinyl. I really hate adding transfer tape after the fact, I waiste so much transfer tape that way. Thank you
on 0:03 you mention about the cricut premium vinyl that already has the transfer tape on it. Could you make a tutorial on how to use this type of vinyl that already has the transfer tape?
No vinyl comes with transfer tape already on it, follow this method and your end product will have transfer tape on it that you can sell that looks professional
Want to clarify some terminology quick: printing means to use a printer to deposit ink onto a surface. A Cricut is not a printer, it is a cutter (plotter). With that in mind, you can use this method to cut any kind of adhesive vinyl (permanent or removable). If you want to print on printable vinyl (it must say printable otherwise it is not printable!), and you don't use transfer tape with it 😊 Hope that makes sense!
This is certainly a great tutorial. I plan to watch more of your videos and subscribed to your channel. Every time I have tried to place transfer tape on my vinyl and ship to to someone, it leaves residue on the vinyl when they remove it. I am using Oracal 651 vinyl and Cricut transfer tape. Fortunately I have not sold any of these items, they were sent as gifts. But do you have suggestions?
Ive only ever heard of this problem while using Cricut Transfer tape, its expensive and leaves a residue sometimes. I prefer to use tape on a roll as it is much cheaper and easier to work with, like this one for example (as the one i use isnt on Amazon) amzn.to/42W6Qvz
Great tutorial! I'm trying to make helmet decals for a local football team without having to go and buy a Gerber edge type machine I'm not sure if I'm ready to get into that type of quality just yet. Wanna see if I can create a decent quality decal with cricut and durable printable vinyl. Does grafitech have a thicker printable vinyl that is of good durability that I could try or any other company that you can think of?
Thank you! This tutorial isnt meant for printable vinyl, you are looking for a print then cut tutorial for a Cricut. This is purely for regular sticker vinyl that is a single solid colour only :)
The stickers appear to have a white background, but that is the transfer tape, correct? So when the sticker is applied, it is actually a CLEAR background? You have used clear sticker paper? Am I correct in my thinking?
Such a helpful tutorial thank you Kelly! I hope you have a solution for my dilemma! I am trying to make multiple laminated bag tags. The tag is a rectangular shape with rounded corners, with an image and name inserted, created in design space. I am using the print and cut method, once printed, I then laminate the whole page (laminated on both sides) and feed the printed laminated page back into my Maker to cut, this works perfectly, but ……… I would like to have a border of just the laminate around each bag tag so that it actually seals around the tag to make it more durable. I have not been able to find a hack or tutorial for this. The only other solution I can think of is to individually laminate each bag tag, which will be so time consuming. I hope this makes sense! I would love to be able to do all this on the Maker - perfect cut. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Ive been thinking about this for a while, and no immediate solution comes to mind unfortunately, but I will continue to think about it to see if I can think up a solution for you!
Hey everything is going perfect in regard to following the tutorial except once I go to attach the different colored layers I’m having a hard time selecting more than one sticker at a time to attach then any advice ?
Thats so amazing i always wondered how that works But i have a question what if you want a bigger vinyl sticker? Like a company logo and writings on the door of vehicle or on the side of van These stickers are bumper stickers very small what if you need alot bigger?
This method is aimed at those wanting to make more smaller stickers. If you are doing a much larger sticker, you can still use this same method, but it will need to be slightly adapted so you would be able to do this same method for a sticker up to 60cm/24" long. If you want to do a longer sticker you would not be able to use this same method as you would be using smart vinyl/the matless method
Love this tutorial and just subscribed. Thanks so much. I'm trying to work out in my head how this would work for a layered decal. I'm guessing it would be the same procedure with extra cutting steps in between the original and the offset. Would love to see how you do it 😉
I tried a very basic one and it worked fine. I cut the layer on a different mat and applied it to the main decal before cutting the transfer paper. I was going to send you a pic, but I can't figure out how to do that in UA-cam :( Thanks again for this awesome tutorial. It's going to be so useful.
Thank you for sharing this video! Yours are by far the best on youtube. I am wanting to do some decals for a kayak / canoe. What type of vinyl do you think would work best. I have purchased oracle 210 a waterproof laminate that I’ve used for my sublimation stickers but just not sure if it’s necessary to do that way for a decal.
Thank you so much! Definitely waterproof or outdoor (651) vinyl. But be prepared to replace it sooner rather than later in any case, under harsh conditions not all vinyls will last forever! :)
@LetsGetClacking So, using this method, you reload the mat with transfer tape and already cut vinyl to cut the "orange" layer since the cricut doesn't see colors. And aligning and attaching them, as they are shown on that white box, keeps them in the right spot to cut both times? I've always seen that removing and then reloading the mat will make the cricut cut in a different spot than what it cut before. Please explain how it cuts exactly right.
I making stickers using my cricket and this is a game changer you know how much time this will save me?????? What I did was put my decal, remove the whole sheet from the mat cut each one of them out and apply the transfer tape to each individual sticker. The just came out like rectangles 😅
I have a question ! When you laid down the green vinyl and had the cricut cut out the lettering. Where did the white that’s under the green stickers come from ?
I learned some things from your video, so thank you for making it. I feel confused about the vinyl you used though. I haven't made anything with an offset yet. Did you have two layers of vinyl on your mat? Or did you not cut all the way through on the first cut then cut through when cutting the offsets?
You are so welcome! It is just a one layer vinyl sticker. The white is the backing of the vinyl. The clear layer is transfer tape to move it off the backing, and onto where you want to place it
Tried to buy you some coffee a while ago, however Capitec are currently offline so i was unable to confirm the transaction from the online app. Will send coffee s once they back online. Just in case you get notice of the cancelation.
Excellent video as always thank you so much love your training. its great to learn something new with each of your videos. You really do explain things so well and it is so easy to follow. Just a note i ordered some items from Snippy Sisters as you had mentioned them in one of your videos. What AWESOME service, wow Robyn service is excellent . She personally delivered my items and give me a lots of advise about the different Vinyl products and options. This is a company i am so happy to support as a new small Business startup. Your channel has added such value to my learning thank you again. I am sure you are going to do so well in your new venture doing this full time.
The white is the backing sheet of the vinyl, it is there to keep the adhesive covered and you remove it when you want to stick the decal onto something :) Its just the paper protective layer
Great video! It's clear, concise and allow enough to follow easily. Also, the lack of any time wasting frills and needless banter make it a joy to watch! Please, do me a favor and teach this to other UA-camrs!

Thank you!
Hey everything is going perfect in regard to following the tutorial except once I go to attach the different colored layers I’m having a hard time selecting more than one sticker at a time to attach then any advice ?
Try using the layers panel on the right side of the screen. Work from the bottom upwards! Hold shift to select the items x
@ thank you I will try soon and update you.
You are fantastic. So knowledgeable and engaging. I really enjoyed this tutorial - thanks!
Aw thank you so much! So appreciated 💚
Thats so amazing i always wondered how that works
But i have a question what if you want a bigger vinyl sticker? Like a company logo and writings on the door of vehicle or on the side of van
These stickers are bumper stickers very small what if you need alot bigger?
This method is aimed at those wanting to make more smaller stickers. If you are doing a much larger sticker, you can still use this same method, but it will need to be slightly adapted so you would be able to do this same method for a sticker up to 60cm/24" long. If you want to do a longer sticker you would not be able to use this same method as you would be using smart vinyl/the matless method
@@KellyRossouw ok and thank you for this video
What was the transfer tape you were using in the video? The one linked in the description isn't the same it has the gridlines on it.
The exact one I use unfortunately isn't available internationally. The type of transfer tape doesn't matter too much!
Does it work for a car decal ? If not what would you recommend ?
Yes! These are decals for cars :) Just make sure to use Permanent/Outdoor vinyl when choosing vinyl for your car!
Love this tutorial can't wait to try it myself - thank you so much Kelly
You are so welcome!
Superrrr helpful!! Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Will this work for glass etching stencils? The type where they look like a comic book character before all the color, Just lines and shading?😊
Unfortunately not, check out this video for the glass etching method: ua-cam.com/video/7Zg4h4-gWVM/v-deo.html
Love this tutorial and just subscribed. Thanks so much. I'm trying to work out in my head how this would work for a layered decal. I'm guessing it would be the same procedure with extra cutting steps in between the original and the offset. Would love to see how you do it 😉
ooooh a challenge, I like a challenge ;) ill work on it and see if I can make a video about it :)
Excellent. I'll be watching. And waiting 🤞
Two attempts, two fails 😕 Never say die.
I tried a very basic one and it worked fine. I cut the layer on a different mat and applied it to the main decal before cutting the transfer paper. I was going to send you a pic, but I can't figure out how to do that in UA-cam :( Thanks again for this awesome tutorial. It's going to be so useful.
You freaking rock! Thank you.
Wow, thanks! 😍
Wow this was soo helpful. Thank you 😍
You're so welcome!
Great video! But I don’t get how you got black and white, did you stack black and white vinyl it before cutting it? Did I missed something here?
Thank you! There is no white vinyl, the white is the backing sheet and gets pulled away. This is a plain black vinyl decal/sticker.
@@KellyRossouw got it! Thank you for the explanation! 😊
Amazing video! Did you change blades at all or did you use the fine point blade for both cuts?
Thabk you so much! Used the fine point blade for it all 🥰
What transfer tape do you use? Mine was not strong enough to use for a sticker
For standard vinyl I use standard transfer tape, for shimmer vinyl I use strong grip
As you are cutting the offset, it doesn't need to cut exactly right. It can be a little bit off, and wont matter 😊
Such a clever idea! This method is just so practical for stickers and so much more. Thank you!
Thank you so much 💙
Great tutorial!
Thank you! Cheers!
amazing tutorial, thankee!
You're welcome!
I making stickers using my cricket and this is a game changer you know how much time this will save me?????? What I did was put my decal, remove the whole sheet from the mat cut each one of them out and apply the transfer tape to each individual sticker. The just came out like rectangles 😅
Aaah im so glad to hear! yay for saving time!
Very good tuto
Thank you so much!
I have a question ! When you laid down the green vinyl and had the cricut cut out the lettering. Where did the white that’s under the green stickers come from ?
That is the backing of the vinyl :) the carrier sheet it comes on to protect the adhesive
This was awesome! I’m looking into starting this hobby and it looks a lot more involved/ learning curve hobby like than I thought! I’m so excited!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
It is such a fun hobby 🥰 so many things you can make!
Absolutely. 😌😊
amazing video keep it up !
Thanks, will do!
The clear layer is transfer tape to move it off the backing, and onto where you want to place it
Do you use a regular blade for this or should I use a different blade?
Your standard fine point blade is needed to cut vinyl :)
Great Video!! Question: why is my offset cut not centered for cut #2? Images are aligned, machine is calibrated. Any suggestions?
Thank you! It could be a bug, but do you have both layers attached with the 29.2 cm box around it?
I seemed to have lost your process lol. What happened with sheet 2 - the yellow labels?
You only need to cut that once you have weeded your full sheet of vinyl, and applied your transfer tape :) Its the last step in the process
LOVE THIS!!! you made this so easy
Glad you liked it!!
Tried to buy you some coffee a while ago, however Capitec are currently offline so i was unable to confirm the transaction from the online app. Will send coffee s once they back online. Just in case you get notice of the cancelation.
Ah thank you so much Brian! I really appreciate it
Excellent video as always thank you so much love your training. its great to learn something new with each of your videos.
Aaaah thank you so much Brian! Im so so glad I was able to help you! Robyn truly is an absolute gem of a person, I couldnt live without her
Awesome Video! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
You should do a tutorial for the design space app on phone
Thanks for the suggestion!
Very helpful!
Glad you think so!
Where did the white background come from? Is it behind the green vinyl? Is it bought that way? Did you stick the green on the white?
The white is the backing sheet of the vinyl, it is there to keep the adhesive covered and you remove it when you want to stick the decal onto something :) Its just the paper protective layer
@@KellyRossouw oh ok. So once the sticker is applied the there is no more white. Do you have a video how to have a white background?
I love your videos! Very easy to follow and to understand ❤️
Thank you so much!
The offset-as-a-weeding-box tip alone was worth the price of admission. I've just been throwing a box around everything! Great tutorial!
Thanks so much 💚 🙏
Your the greatest! 😘
hehe thank you!
Hey, that's pretty good
Glad you think so! Thanks so much for stopping by 💚
Thank you for the Kraft board cut setting tip!
You are most welcome! I discovered that Medium cardstock works just as well, and is quicker and better on my mat too!
