Whenever I use a clear cover over the top of the printable vinyl, I make the clear slightly larger than the base design. Now that we have the offset available, I do just about 1/8" offset to totally seal the edges of the printable to prevent any water seepage. It works great and I have had no problems. Of course, this means you have to cut separately.

I know this was 3 years ago, but I have noticed that blue sticks for a MUCH longer time than any other color. So for those here trying to figure out the best way to do things.. Maybe do not use blue for those tests.

I got the Orajet and Oraguard. I’m unfortunately disappointed.The Orajet has a very matte finish and hard to get good colors onto it. It’s like printing on plain paper. The Oraguard is ok but has lines in it that you can see looking at the stickers. I tried another glossy print and cut vinyl by Neato which turned out much better, almost as good as photo paper. The adhesive is questionable though as I stuck it to a mirror and lightly sprayed with water leading to one small sticker starting to detach though it restuck when dry.
Red colors are known to be prone to fading. Making the clear topping slightly larger will also mediate the water from wicking into the printable. Even simply transparent vinyl over the top will minimize the water seepage.
I found using a ruler to flatten the laminate and using the scraper on the BACK of the vinyl is better. The scraper scratches the laminate if you are rubbing the bubbles out.
Excellent comparison. I had a simple cut then print decal without any laminate that faded after a few days. It's simple enough to cut from vinyl, so I'll probably go that way.

@Ida yep! I laminate by hand, small learning curve to get it good without mistakes but it comes out amazing and I have stickers I made over a year ago this way still looking amazing sitting out in the weather every day!
One last thing. Do you need laminate over regular car stickers (not decal) ? I just want to make regular car stickers. I might go with the cricut vinyl but don’t know if I need to laminate it for extra protection. Trying to save money and time. Thanks

I usually scrape them off then use like goo gone to remove any remaining adhesive. I actually need to take them off of this glass piece so I may film it really quick!
I wonder if you cut the orajet/oraguard vinyl/laminate slightly bigger than the design so that the laminate stuck out just a smidge more than the vinyl if you would notice the ring around the design.

And will be using a reflective whote permanent vinyl. Is there a special process for this or just do it like a normal decal. Obviously i will clean the plastic with rubbing alcohol first
30+ minutes of incredibly confusing contradictions. Even after watching twice and taking notes, I can't tell if she tested 3 vinyls or 4. She uses a different name for each product every time she refers to one. The video description refers to still more product names which may or may not be the ones used in the video. And crazy things like "you have to use transfer tape with all vinyls" before she omits the transfer tape for half the vinyl products. Thankfully I only wasted 90 minutes on this vid, a tiny fraction of what the creator wasted.
Hi Angie! I bought an olympic rings svg on Etsy and have tried to make a decal for a boat and my cricut keeps cutting every line. I was wanting the olympic rings with a white background and was hoping that it would just cut an oval all the way around my olympic rings. How would I accomplish this?
Good video. I have a HP printer but when I print onto Printable Vinyl (glossy) it will smudge badly especially if wetted. Is the Cricut Printable Vinyl you are using a Matte surface? The stickers I am trying to make are for a motorbike so they need to be waterproof. I'm wondering if the sealer would be o.k. for glossy surfaces. Would appreciate any comment you care to make. Great video and thorough work! I was impressed how permanent vinyl held up. Apart from limited colour choices on main difference is the effect decal will have. First of all - all those ridges will collect dirt. Second, delcal will have transparent lines which can be a huge deal when placing on a car panel or when having tinted windows. This can be solved by first cutting a white vinyl circle as a backing. I was also surprised that laminated variant with UV film on top didn't hold well. In any way rather interesting results. Next step is to attach decals to the real car to see how it will cope with salted roads, snow scraping and car wash brushes.

That is probably going to depend on a ton of factors including the brand you purchased and how it was made. Putting a laminate over it won't hurt anything so I think I would especially to protect from UV exposure.

You probably should use the cricut reverse tweezers to keep from getting oils of ur hands onto the decal. The second one had the least fading; I don’t understand why u say the third one was best?
The third one was the best for an image printed onto printable vinyl. Second one is best if you can just cut the image out of permanent vinyl. So, "print then cut" versus just cut vinyl. Hope that makes sense, I'm still learning it all myself. Lol.
Hi Angie, great video but being completely new to vinyl printing I'm still wondering what the best way to achieve my goal is. Basically, I want an A4 decal with a white background and a black logo and some text. The decal will be on a vehicle. Am I better off getting white vinyl and print black on it or could this be done with 2 vinyls - one black and one white? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Angie, I didn’t know better and I printed my car decals on Neato sticker paper. Glossy, holographic and clear did great but the matte did not. Colors were not bright or correct. Testing is next and I will print on the cricut vinyl too. Thanks for this video, exactly what I needed.

Would you say Oraguard 210 is better than Oraguard 236? Because I tried the 236 and the stickers on my car faded way more than yours did in just a week and a half :( I was so disappointed lol. But willing to try the 210 if anyone recommends it over the 236. Thank you!
I applied a cricut made decal to my cars back window. A friend made me. 651 permanent vinyl Still looks the same as when I stuck it on. No sealer. Been a year now. My car is kept in the garage.
Permanent vinyl is great for car decals. I don’t have any issues with it. Going through automated car wash weekly. And it’s we have lots of sun here in Ca. However, unprotected printer sticker fade pretty quickly.
Leather is flexible so these adhesive stickers will not work the same. I usually recommend heat transfer vinyl for leather but I don't think that will work on a car.

Terrific information and very helpful. You might consider editing a bit more, using voice over and speed up repetitive actions. The video would be more concise and still information packed. Lastly, any recommendations for removal?

Hi, new to the cricut world here, and I've been just trying to figure out what to put my vinyl decals on after i put transfer tape on them to ship them? I can't seem to find a straight answer. What do people use? I've seen cute light blue and pink paper but idk what kind it is! Please if someone could help a girl out that would be great!

Great video....but there is a much easier, and faster way to cut it twice....just adjust your material settings to have it cut twice

Try moving the image around on the page before printing and after clicking make it.

You would need to use the vinyl option and mirror the cut.

Laminate would have to be added after you print the sticker sheet.
Don’t car decal stickers usually go inside of the car (not outside)? So these are designed to go outside of the car??

You might want to look into marine grade vinyls for that.

Try using contour to remove internal cuts.

I think I would do the oracal shown here and stick it to some magnet material. You can buy printable sheet magnets that should work for this.

I have not seen a printable vinyl that is glossy from Cricut. You might want to make sure you have a printable version and not just regular vinyl.

How can we package (for resale) the decal (Orajet) that has the laminate if you dont encourage transfer tape?
If you have the laminate on it, they shouldn't need transfer tape.
Great comparison video but a lot of the repetitive steps could have been fast-forwarded to cut down on the video length.

If you are using a printable vinyl, you need to be cautious about using transfer tape. It can ruin your print.

The third one was the best for an image printed onto printable vinyl. Second one is best if you can just cut the image out of permanent vinyl. So, "print then cut" versus just cut vinyl. Hope that makes sense, I'm still learning it all myself. Lol.
How do you use the permanent vinyl to cut multi colors in one image?
Cut each piece and layer them together as I have done here.

Hi Angie, great video but being completely new to vinyl printing I'm still wondering what the best way to achieve my goal is. Basically, I want an A4 decal with a white background and a black logo and some text. The decal will be on a vehicle. Am I better off getting white vinyl and print black on it or could this be done with 2 vinyls - one black and one white? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would do one black vinyl and one white and layer them.

Hi Angie, I didn’t know better and I printed my car decals on Neato sticker paper. Glossy, holographic and clear did great but the matte did not. Colors were not bright or correct. Testing is next and I will print on the cricut vinyl too. Thanks for this video, exactly what I needed.
I have so much printable sticker paper I thought it was for car decals. But apparently I was wrong but I am wondering if I laminate it if it will work. Instead of printable vinyl I bought printable sticker paper to be clear

Would you say Oraguard 210 is better than Oraguard 236? Because I tried the 236 and the stickers on my car faded way more than yours did in just a week and a half :( I was so disappointed lol. But willing to try the 210 if anyone recommends it over the 236. Thank you!
Hmmm. I am totally not sure!
I doubt they have a different level of UV protection. The only difference is laminate thickness. 236 is suppose to be thicker

I have not found a good alternative for cars with sublimation.

Not that I know of. I just was looking into some things yesterday though so look for a future video!
I applied a cricut made decal to my cars back window. A friend made me. 651 permanent vinyl Still looks the same as when I stuck it on. No sealer. Been a year now. My car is kept in the garage.
Permanent vinyl is great for car decals. I don’t have any issues with it. Going through automated car wash weekly. And it’s we have lots of sun here in Ca. However, unprotected printer sticker fade pretty quickly.

I would not use sublimation on any car decals.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Can these adhere to leather like padding?
Leather is flexible so these adhesive stickers will not work the same. I usually recommend heat transfer vinyl for leather but I don't think that will work on a car.

If I were to use the permanent vinyl on a car (not the window) would I use the same process? Also would I need a sealer for it?
I am not sure as I don't recommend that on your car's paint.
Hi, new to the cricut world here, and I've been just trying to figure out what to put my vinyl decals on after i put transfer tape on them to ship them? I can't seem to find a straight answer. What do people use? I've seen cute light blue and pink paper but idk what kind it is! Please if someone could help a girl out that would be great!
Can you not leave them on the backing paper for the vinyl?
@@AngieHolden oh idk, i haven't tried that 😅 is it easy for a customer to get it off of that? I've been trying everything else under the sun. My biggest difficulty is lettering sticking to the transfer tape completely and i would hate for future customers to have trouble with it, you know?
