It saddens me that most of the time courts will give custody of the children to the mom even if she's not the best parent, and I say that as a new mom myself. They need to choose whichever parent is best, regardless of whether that's the mom or dad.

I will say, 40% of the time this isn't the case. People aren't going to start acting like assholes the second you meet them. Statistically in abusive marriages it takes an average of 5 years for the abusive to even begin, and by that time most people do already have lots of kids. Thankfully I have my father in my life, but all of my friends who's father's aren't in their life left when they were 14-17 but were never deadbeats before then. As well dads (best example being Chris Watts) who turn out to murder their whole family usually don't do it till their kids are well past school age, and they usually have around 5 children.

Steve needs to have an update on this response. I am a single mother and I never leave my kids with no man especially, if we had started dating at the time, but they are grown up, now. A single mother NEVER does that, and She or He should "NEVER" be that lonely or desperate for companionship. Kids always come first. Then she yawns leaving the stage after, Steve tells them both to leave which shows her interest in protecting her kids, and I would be a shame if I was on television. Like if she was bored, I looked at their two daughters and I was getting upset and they both are not mine.
